They had been together since the beginning. Since the day fate intertwined their destinies through a chain of heroic circumstances, they had been together.
And they'll always be together. And they'll always be brothers.
Always.
They'll be brothers when Kirk's birthday rolls around each year, a day on which he'll stay in his room; reflecting. They will never bother him, never push or question him. But they will always be ready; ready to receive him should the sadness overtake him.
They'll be brothers when Sulu finds himself hurting, the pain of missing his family on earth almost too much to bear, the emptiness of space seemingly overwhelming and impossible to escape. They'll comfort him, talk to him, and reassure him that no matter what, they'll be his family too.
They'll be brothers when Chekov will cry to sleep sometimes, the stress and anxiety of being so young on a mission so dangerous sometimes becoming too much. They'll be there for him when he wants to talk, and they'll be there even when he doesn't want to. When he'll try to cover it up, they'll know. They always know.
Because that's how they work. They understand each other; know what the other intends with little to no words spoken. The three of them are like a team, one that looks out for each other.
And they'll always be a team. And they'll always be brothers.
Always.
They'll be brothers the time they will become stranded on a foreign planet together, fighting to stay alive with each passing second. They won't give up their will to survive because that means giving up on each other, and that's something they promised to never do, no matter how bad it got.
They'll be brothers when they decide to have fun at their other friends' expenses. They'll plan and conspire and even pretend like they're some kind of ninjas stalking prey as they prepare to strike. They'll go down together when they get caught, too, which seems to always happen instead of their planned escape.
They'll be brothers when the world will once again need saving, despite their best efforts to try and prevent the fact that it would need saving at all. They'll work like a well-built machine; one with no glitches or loose wires. They'll find a way, just like they always do.
And even when the time comes that they can't find a way, they'll fight. They'll protect their friends, their family, their home. They'll have each other's backs no matter the danger, no matter the risk.
And they'll always have each other's backs. And they'll always be brothers.
Always.
And even when it seems like the weight of the world is coming down on them, they'll still push through for each other.
Like the day they'll nearly lose their youngest brother forever; they'll be closer as brothers on that day than ever before. They'll be there for him when he'll wake in the late night screaming for help, crying as he realizes it's only a nightmarish memory. They'll make sure he knows they will never let him get hurt again, of that they are sure.
Years down the road, when a resounding argument rocks them to the very core, they'll be brothers then, too. They may not speak for weeks at a time; they might try to forget that they ever held a bond so special. But they cannot forget, for they cannot erase the memory of those that have made them the better person they are now.
When they finally reunite after agonizing months of silence and guilt and regret, they'll rekindle that spark they shared. They'll realize that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't stay away from each other; that it was as if some gravitational force pulled at them constantly, pushing and pulling them back together.
They'll realize that the universe has a plan, some sort of celestial map that plots the course of their lives, and that the universe has them together for a reason: a reason to do good for the world and by each other.
So they'll remember that, and they'll remember the bond they shared and the memories they made; and they'll look to the future, excitement reeling at the thought of memories to come.
So in the end, they'll always be together and they'll always be a team and they'll always have each other's backs.
And they'll always be brothers.
Always.
Yeah for more updates! I just had this little idea about exploring the relationship between Kirk, Sulu, and Chekov. I see them as becoming very protective of one another and being together often because of their closeness in age and personalities. I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think!
