Here's another chapter, sooner than my last few. … Yay
Chapter 10: Two Seconds too Late
Zant was monitoring Pit again through his crystal ball. The shadows had now engulfed seventy-five percent of the angel's body.
"Excellent progress, don't you think?" Ganondorf stated.
"I'll say." Zant replied. "He's just about broken, and I think he's succumbed to a self-depression."
"Well if mu 'heroes' haven't shown up I would too."
"Would you like me to bring him to you?"
"No, not yet. Give him a half hour. By then he should be in enough turmoil for me to bring in the good news." Zant looked at him confused. "Let's just say, by the time he realizes his rescue is here it will be too late." Ganondorf walked away from his pawn. "Do send a few Twilight Beasts out to patrol soon." Ganondorf walked down the hallway. He came to a window and looked out it. He saw a swirling motion in the distance. "Right on time,' Ganondorf stated. 'but unfortunately for you, patrol will delay your rescue.' Ganondorf chuckled and continued to walk down the hall.
- With Pit -
"Where are you?" Pit whispered. "Why haven't you come yet?"
- With Marth and Bowser -
"Yes," Midna responded after hearing their story. "I will gladly tell you where he took Pit. I knew something was up when I saw Ganondorf carrying Pit away. Here …" She handed them a map of her Realm. "here is where Ganondorf's castle." She pointed to it on the map. "It's about a fifteen twenty minutes journey from here."
"Thank you Midna." Marth thanked.
"No problem. I would suggest starting your journey there." She pointed to a path to their left. "I wish you luck." She disappeared.
"Let's go."
- Five minutes later -
After a time of silence Bowser decided to break it.
"You've gotten pretty restless about this." Bowser admitted. "I've noticed that recently, since Pit's capture actually." Marth stopped.
"You would too." He replied, then turned around to face the Koopa King. "If this were Peach, you'd feel the same. You would even work with Mario if it came down to it. I'm not expecting you to feel the same about Pit, and I thank you for what I think is concern …" Marth sighed. "but I have never had this happen to me before. Pit is like a brother to me, so I'm going to save him no matter what."
"I understand." Marth nodded.
Just then, a noise bellowed. They looked around. Out of nowhere Twilight Beast ambushed them. The duo prepared to fight and lunged into battle.
- 25 minutes -
Pit had finally fell into a depression.
"They're not going to save me." He accepted. "Who was I to think they would. I should accept my fate."
The door opened and Zant entered the cell.
"It's time to leave your quarters, boy." Zant professed. "Ganondorf wishes to see you." He unhooked Pit. Pit just stood there. Zant grabbed his wrist and started dragging Pit out of his cell. It took a few minutes to get to Ganondorf's throne room. Zant pushed Pit forward a bit.
"So you're finally here." Ganondorf greeted from his throne. He got up off his throne and approached the angel. "What's wrong? You look depressed."
- With Marth and Bowser -
They finally managed to defeat all of the Beasts. They killed the last two at the same time so that the whole brigade wouldn't come alive.
"That took longer than I wanted." Marth growled. "We have to go. Now!" They started to run for the castle.
- With Pit and Ganondorf -
"You know why." Pit answered. "You kidnapped me, I'm going to lose all my free will soon, and you're going to win."
"Oh I think it's more than that" Ganondorf pointed out. "I think you forgot something."
"What do you mean?"
"You forgot about your saviors. Aren't you upset that they haven't come to save you?"
"Why does it matter? You're going to get what you want."
A Twili bird flew in and told something to Zant. After hearing its message, Zant turned his attention to Ganondorf.
"Master." Zant spoke up, only for Ganondorf to give him a nod, knowing what Zant was going to say.
"I suppose you're right." Ganondorf agreed. He started walking around Pit, observing the changes. The darkness was slowly creeping up his neck. "There isn't a point to bring it up. I understand. You seem to have accepted your fate."
- With Marth and Bowser -
They finally made it to the castle. All they had to do was enter through the gate and then the door.
- With Pit and Ganondorf -
"You will be a fine partner," Ganondoorf stated, then started heading towards his thrown. "but I do have something to say. You're friends are here."
"What?!" Pit gasped in surprise.
"Yeah, they came to save you, but it's too late."
Pit stood there in shock. 'They came. They actually came.' Hope returned to him, only to be disrupted.
Pit started to scream. The darkness finally took hold of him. Ganondorf watched in evil delight. Pit had grabbed his head, as if it were in pain. After several agonizing minutes the transformation ended. Pit was now a dark angel. His tunic was now black instead of white and his hair and eyes were darker than usual. His expression was one of indifference.
Marth and Bowser burst through the door.
"Pit!" Marth yelled. The angel faced him, showing him what he didn't want to see. "No, it can't be."
"Kill them." Ganondorf ordered.
So Pit finally became "Dark" Pit. I have the next chapter finished. I want to stay ahead since I've been behind for some of the previous chapters.
