Rein's POV
"Ok, the first place is a photo shoot." Shade said as he flipped open his own phone. It was the same model as mine, just a a really dark shade of blue. Like navy blue. He looked at me, as though expecting me to do something. I realized that I also had to check my phone.
"Oh, um, uh, your photo shoot is at, uh..." I kept clicking random buttons the phone, trying to get to the notes page. Each time though, I ended up opening a random app or loading some weird web page. Bright took the phone from my hands and asked me what I was looking for. "Um, notes app please?" He nodded and in just a couple seconds returned the phone to me. "Um, thank you." I said as I blushed and looked away.
"I'm gonna go change." Shade muttered as he entered another room.
"Why's he so upset?" I asked as I heard him slam the door. Bright lifted his shoulders in a questioning way.
"I'm not sure." Even though he said that, he had a suspicious smile on his face.
"Well, anyways..." I glanced at my phone, then back at him. I nervously clasped my hands together behind my back and asked Bright, "Would you mind teaching me... how to use this phone?" He looked slightly surprised at first.
Then he said, "Gladly. It's a good thing my photo shoot is in the same area as Shade's." I looked away and smiled happily, hugging the phone closely. Though, I honestly wasn't sure why at first. After a couple moments of trying to get rid of this warm feeling, I turned back to Bright.
"S-So what time are we leaving?" I asked as I pretended to push my glasses onto my face.
"Right now." Shade said in a dark voice behind Bright. He looked really pissed and his dark clothes made him look like the perfect villain. He grabbed my hand and began to drag me out. "Let's go. We've got no time for dilly dally." I said good bye to Bright while being dragged along. I flinched a bit as I felt his grip on my hand get tighter as we coursed through the halls.
"Uh, Shade?" I said softly. He stopped for a moment and looked back at me, then at my wrist. Then he let go, and muttered sorry. He walked ahead without looking back. I rubbed my wrist and followed behind, but not too closely. I wonder what happened... He's usually not angry... When we entered the main hall, everything seemed normal at first glance. But if you looked more closely you could see them trying their best to avoid him as much as possible. After a while even the heavy air was noticeable. Eclipse knew how to leave an impression because they certainly feared him.
We were half way to the destination when Shade suddenly spoke up. "Sorry, you know, about earlier." I was surprised at first.
"No, it's, it's alright." I replied. "So, uh, does Bright's photo shoot, uh, starts later?" When he didn't reply, I glanced at him, and he had an extremely dark look on his face. This is the first time I've seen him upset in general, so he wasn't an easy person to talk to. So I just shrunk down in my seat and nervously fiddled with my hand in my lap.
We reached the location a couple minutes earlier than expected. Shade's bad mood seemed to ward everyone off, but the director of the photo shoot seemed used to it. He still seemed a bit wary of what he told Shade though. I made sure to sand a couple feet away from the equipment so I didn't get in the way. I wasn't sure what to do since I had never been a manager to anything, so I tried to make myself as obscure as possible.
Even from where I stood though, I felt fascinated by him. He was very serious about his job, matching all the poses that he was told to do perfectly. But the more I watched him, the more uncomfortable I felt. This wasn't him. This wasn't Shade. He was a stranger I had never met before.
"Hey, you there! Stop being useless and bring the drinks over!" Someone shouted at me. I jumped at first, not sure why they called me. "Stop standing there and get moving!" I jumped again and quickly turned towards the door and ran to a random room in the building. I shut the door, and began panting.
"Hey!" Someone shouted at me. "Are you the one who's suppose to do my manicure?" I looked up to see a blonde girl sitting in front of a mirror. She was patting her face with powder. "Took you long enough! I've been waiting over ten minutes!" I stood up straight and looked up in confusion. I didn't check if the door said anything or not, but by the looks of it, she looked like a model.
I spoke up. "B-But.. Um..."
"But nothing! Get over here already!" I quickly walked up to her and saw her counter had tons of make up and displays. She pulled open a drawer, revealing all kinds of nail polish colors and brands. She took out a green and golden nail polish. "Surprise me with an exotic pattern." She said as she shut her eyes. "They told me you were professional. I wanna know how professional. What should I do? Maybe I should tell her... "Hurry up!" She glared at me. Bad idea. I'll just... do whatever.
I slowly grabbed her hand and began painting a design on her nails. After about fifteen minutes, I finished. "Done!" I said as I let go of her hand. She lifted it up towards her face, then glared at me.
"What is this?" She shoved her nails in my face. "This isn't what I asked for." Her nails had a green base and golden poka dots.
"W-Well, this was the only one I knew how to do..." It's the one Fine usually makes me give her...
"Professional my butt! I can't believe I wasted my time on you! I have a photo shoot in thirty minutes and this is what I'm going to have on my nails?!" She slammed her hand on the table, knocking off the nail polish bottles.
"I- I'm sorry! I was just..." I wasn't sure what to say. She didn't seem like the best person to get into an argument with.
"Just what?!" She stopped and glanced me over. "You know, I've never seen your face before. Plus your much younger than most people here. Who are you?" She asked as she glared at me.
"Um, I'm Rein." I said as I lowered my head. "I just started here as... Uh... Eclipse's new manager?" I said nervously.
"BS! He would never hire such an amateur!" She got out of her chair and took one step closer to me. "You're an intruder! I'm calling security!" I was about to stop her and slipped on the fallen nail polish, and falling onto her rack of clothes, tearing a couple of dresses in the process. She stared in shock as I sat up, the torn cloth in my hands. I glanced at it, then at her.
"I'm so sorry. I can fix this!" I got up, and was about to grab the dress when she shoved me away from them. "Don't touch them! Get out! You're such an eyesore!" She shoved me again and out the door. For a moment I stared at the door, the name Altezza engraved on it in fancy letters. I could hear her stomping around inside and just tip toed away. I readjusted my glasses and smoothed down my hair as I entered teh main photo shoot area again. Shade was still working, but I wasn't in the mood to watch him. Maybe it was a bad idea to accept...
I began walking towards a corner, and wasn't paying attention in front of me. I ended up bumping into a woman holding one of the lights and both of us fell, shattering the light bulb. All eyes were immediately on us and I say up and muttered and I'm sorry. She glared at me and got up, and crossed her arms, but I didn't look up at her. Suddenly I felt a large hand grip my arm, and force me up.
"You were suppose to get the drinks, but now look! You come back with nothing and you break one of my lights! Do you understand how expensive these things are!" he began dragging me out towards the hall. I cringed as he squeezed my arm. He opened the door and forcefully threw me out. I hit the ground and sat there as he threw a mop on me. "One little thing I asked. Now make yourself useful, and stop being such an eyesore." He tossed me an empty bucket and then slammed the door shut. I sat there for a couple moments, then sniffled.
I lifted up my glasses and rubbed my nose. "Not now Rein. It's just your first day, this is normal." I rubbed my nose one more time before moving the mop aside and getting ready to get up. When I looked ahead I saw a hand in front of me. Bright. "Thank you." I whispered as I grabbed his hand. He crouched down and picked up the mop and bucket.
"It's nothing." He handed me the objects. "I see your having a hard time on your first day." I blankly nodded. "I'm on my break so if you want to talk about it, go ahead." He began walking and in a couple minutes we were sitting on a bench in the hall.
"I think Shade chose the wrong person for this." I managed to say. "Does it get better?" I looked up at him. I could tell by the look on his face that I was miserable. He paused for a moment, then gave me a smile.
"That all depends on you." He took out his phone, and then looked at me. "You still have your phone right?" I nodded, and took it out from my front pocket. Luckily it was undamaged. He took it from my hand and opened up both phones. Then he typed in something on my phone. "There. Now you have mine, and Shade's number. You can call me anytime your having trouble, alright?" I nodded, feeling slightly better than earlier.
"Thank you so much, Bright." I smiled and pushed my glasses on my face. "Are those phone lessons still available? I'll need help calling you know."
Bright got up and chuckled a bit then replied, "Sure." He shut his phone and stuck it back in his pocket. "Break time's over. I'll see you later." He waved goodbye and so did I. I felt slightly better, and decided that I should start mopping. I headed to the bathroom to fill the bucket up, then began cleaning the floors. As I did, I kept being reminded about the earlier events. I'm so useless aren't I? I stopped for a moment to take a break.
This is much worse than school. At least people didn't treat me this badly. I leaned on the mop and sighed. After I moment I felt chilling water all over my body. I turned around to see the blonde girl, Altezza, I suppose. She had a new wardrobe on, and her nails also had a new design. She arrogantly smiled at me, then dropped the bucket on the ground.
"Oops." She said sarcastically. "I'm sorry. It slipped." She laughed and walked by. "People like you don't belong here. You might as well just disappear!" She laughed again, and strutted past, her heels echoing in the hall. I looked down, took off my glasses and cleaned them.
"Not here Rein." I told myself again. "Not here." I watched as a drop fell onto my glasses. "Not... here." I stuttered to say. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Shade. He had a blank expression on, but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a nearby janitor closet.
"What happened?" He asked once he shut the door. I thought about it and couldn't hold it in anymore. I sobbed right in front of him, pushing my glasses up so I could rub my eyes.
"I can't do this Shade! This is so much worse than school!" I cried. I looked at him, but couldn't see his face well because of the hat. "Why didn't you tell me it was like this? I've never done this before! I don't know what to do half the time and no one takes me seriously because of my age!" I rubbed my eyes. I didn't hear him reply, I could only hear my sniffling. After a moment I felt something heavy on my shoulders. He put his coat around me and and pulled me into a hug.
"I'm sorry for making you do this." He said. I rubbed my eyes. "Take a break for today." He let go and opened the door. "I'll ask the driver to send you home." He gave me a kind smile and held the door open. I walked out and rubbed my eyes with his coat. He looked normal without the coat and with his smile. He look like the boy I knew.
Shade guided me towards the front door and opened the car door for me. Then he talked to the driver and I was on my way home. I hugged the coat closer as the AC blew onto my wet clothes, making it colder. When I did that, I felt the phone in my pocket, and remembered I just had water dumped on me so I quickly got it out and checked on it. It was wet, but luckily it was unharmed, and I hugged it. Thank goodness. I put it in the coat of my pocket and watched as the scenery outside rolled by. I pulled the coat on a little more, shut my eyes and fell asleep.
I had such a hard time organizing the timeline for this. Jeez. Hope u enjoyed! =D
