Author's note: Welcome back again, guys! Sorry for the delay, but as you know, well, I'm back too.
Not much to say, except that I don't own anything here. Let's continue on and enjoy...*pauses dramtically* the night of terrors! *laughs evilly*
Chapter ten: Anck-Su-Namun or another Sailor Moon?
Later that night, the two camps joined up again, in case the Medjai come back for round 2 of the mysterious warning Ardeth left them last night, but nobody was worried, only confused. Raye was walking with Evy who was fingering what looked like smooth rocks, but were quite not. They were shaped like insects, who were once alive, but had turned into skeletions, but as Raye noticed, they felt more like rocks carved.
"Evy, I'm not sure if we should hang around and find out whatever the dead guy did." Raye said, the sense of evil getting stronger, and she knew, it came from the dead man they and the others found earlier.
"He's dead, Raye. How can he cause harm?" Evy asked.
The Japanese pristress was about to answer, when they paused at the sound of Allen grunting, and when both woman stopped and looked at his small 'office', he was trying to open the Book of the Dead, but it was stuck tight. The man noticed them, and held the book protectively almost like a baby, which only made Evy think of something as she and Raye recongised the star symbol on the cover.
The same keyhole that was on their 'friend's' coffin.
At this, Raye tried not to laugh, as she pointed at the book, saying, "You might wanna look for the keyhole for that book." before giggling as she and Evy retreated back to their group. Allen, dumbfounded at this and wondering what in the world the Japanese girl was talking about, looked at the book, trying to find the keyhole, unaware that it was on the cover.
Score 1 for the Sailor Team; they had the key.
Meanwhile, gathered around the campfire, with Beni to Rick's left, and Serena, Lita, Amy, Mina, Jessie, James and Meowth to his right, and the Americans just joining them as they admired their new treasures. Serena had her PHS out again and even shook it to try and get a signal, but in the end, grumbled in frustration and places it back into her shorts-pockets.
"Still no signal, and I can't get across to Darien!" Serena sighed in annoyance, folding her arms and slumping her shoulders childishly.
"Serena, you're not gonna find signal out here." Lita pointed out, in a hint of exasperation. "You have to wait until we get back to Cairo."
"Who is d'is Darien?" Meowth asked, curious.
Serena flinched, then unknowingly blushed as she lied, "He's just a friend of mine in University in New York." but unforunately, Team Rocket noticed her blush and snickered as they realised what this meant.
"Well well well," James smirked, "Looks like the meatball headed twerp's in a relationship."
"You mean-" Jessie cuts herself off, and went a sinister, "Awww."
"They're love-birds!" Meowth gleed. "What does he look like?" he asked.
Serena blushed furiously and turned her head away in annoyance, saying, "None of your business." crossing her arms tighter to her chest. She never revealed her relationship to anyone else, other than her close friends, like the other Sailor Scouts for example. Even Ash, his group, Sakura and Madision don't know much about Serena's romantic relationship either, other than that Rini is her and Darien's daughter from the future.
Lita turned to Team Rocket with an angry and mean look, saying, "Keep your noses out of this. Like she said, it's none of your business." which freaked out the trio who flinched in fright, comically.
"Say, O'Connell." grinned Handerson as he and Burns joined Daniels on their side of the campfire, while the first man continued, "What do you think these babies'll fetch back home?" while shaking his bird-shaped headed jar.
James, noticing the jars, paled at this, and mumbled, "Uh...you guys know what's inside those things, don't you?"
"No." Burns shook his head. "What's inside them?"
"You're gonna find out on your own." The blue-purple haired man cringed, as he knew what was inside the jars, and the thought of opening them and finding dead insides of a human's remains spooked him out.
Burns decided to forget about that, and turned to O'connell, grinning, "We heard you guys found yourselves a nice, gooey mummy." as he sat down with his monkey-headed jar, annoying Serena and her friends even further. "Congratulations." he mocked, he and his two friends laughing.
"You know, if you dry that fella out, you might be able to sell him for firewood." Daniels added, laughing.
While Rick mocked their laughter, Serena, Lita, Mina, Jessie, James, Meowth, and even Amy all paled at this thought, and all groaned in disgust and distaste, with huge sweatdrops, all of them cringing, the six of them all going, "Eww!/Ewww!/Yuck!" in unision, while Amy looked away, trying to think of something other than the terrible thought of drying up a gooey mummy.
"Guys! Check these out!" came Raye's voice as she and Evy came to join them.
"You're in Evelyn's seat." Rick said to Beni who just laughed, and he said louder, "Now." and the two-timing-rat-faced weasel was up and then joined Team Rocket who groaned, not happy to have this loser with them again. Evy then sat in Beni's seat while Raye sat next to Serena.
"Scarab Skeletions." Evy said as Serena and the rest of their group leaned closer to take a better look on what the oldest woman found and was holding in her hands. "Flesh eaters. Raye and I found them inside our friend's coffen, and they can stay alive for years, feasting on the flesh of a corspe." And once again, Serena, the sailor scouts and Team Rocket paled again.
Raye then added, "Sadly, for the guy we found, he was still alive when they started eating him." which made Serena now turn into a shade of green.
"Are you saying that somebody threw these meat-eating insects into the guy's coffen and they slowly...ate him alive?" Serena asked, slowing her sentence as she then felt that she already knew the answer to that one.
"Very slowly." Evy replied.
"Good thing Misty isn't here, huh?" Mina shivered.
Jessie nodded in agreement, "I'll say. That whiny whimp-red-headed girl would probably die from a severe scare attack before those insects would eat her."
"Jessie!" Amy scolded with a gasp.
Even Jonathan didn't look so good as he muttered, "Well, he wasn't a popular fellow where they planted him." to which Rick added, "Well, he probably got a little too frisky with his daugther." which made Evy giggle, but the others looked annoyed.
"Well, according to my readings, our friend suffered the Hom Dai." Evy explained, "The worst of all ancient Egyptain curses...one reserved for only the most evil blashemers. In my research, I've never heard of this curse actually being preformed."
"That bad, huh?" Lita asked.
The three Americans paled at the thought, and Beni, well, he looked like he was either gonna wet his pants, or just faint like a very weak 1800's woman...or in his case, probably do both and then die of a heart attack.
"Yes, it's never written because they feared it so." Evy continued, "It's written that, if the victum of the Hom Dai should ever arise, he would bring with him the ten plagues of Egypt."
Suddenly the warning that Ardeth told them last night rang in Serena's mind and ears, as the gut feeling she felt, and the pressence of evil and darkness getting twice as worse. "Leave this place or die." Ardeth's words echoed. She groaned in dispair at this.
This was going to end badly, she just knew it.
Few hours later, everyone was fast asleep...except for Serena who couldn't sleep at all, no matter how many times she mentally counted sheep and keeping her eyes closed since they too were tired, but her mind just wouldn't shut off. The warning that was even kept her awake, and she was beginning to believe that the Medjai were right.
Maybe the guys on the boat tried to prevent them from finding this place in order to prevent the dead guy being brought back to life to protect Egypt...maybe the world. She snuck back in to see if she could use the Dimensional Scream to give her a clue on the dead guy's past, but unfortunately, it wasn't what she had a mind. All she saw in the vision was a man kissing a beautiful woman painted in gold, before the two lovers were tragically torn apart by the woman sacrificing herself, and the vision ended there.
What did it mean?
She then felt pressence, and peaked on eye open to see that Evy was still up, and she saw a metal book being placed on a rock, one that Serena somehow recongised as the book Allen had no doubt found first. Opening her other eye, the teenager mumbled, "That's stealing, you know that, right?" sitting up and giving up on attempts to sleep.
"According to you and the others, it's burrowing, you know that, right?" Evy replied, digging into her brother's bag until she found the key, before sitting in front of the book while examing the key, while Serena slowly joined her, not wanting to wake the others.
Serena quirked an eye-brow, and noticed the book had numberous pictures on it, which she figured was ancient Egyptain, though in her case, it looked more like gibberish. She seemed to realise what it was, and was yet confused. "I thought the book you were looking for was made out of gold?" she asked.
"It is made out of pure gold." Evy replied, "But this isn't the Book of Amun-Ra. This is something else. I think this may be the Book of the Dead." opening the key.
"The book of the dead?" Serena repeated, now knowing that something was seriously wrong. "Are you sure you wanna read this thing? Something might happen." She asked, nervously.
Evy rolled her eyes, as she slowly opened the book, saying, "It's only a book. No harm ever came from reading a book, right?"
The blonde-haired teen sweatdropped at this, as she mumbled, "Not every book is normal. Believe me, there's one out there somewhere that someone wants to find that means the end of the world. I should know, because I have stop him, and so far, even he doesn't have a clue on my real idenity."
"Oh come on, you're sounding ridiculous." Evy whispered, as she flipped open the cover, and seconds after that, winds picked up, causing the two of them pause. Both woman shared a nervous look, before Evy looked at the book again, and then read in a whisper, "Ahm Kum Ra...Ahm Kum Dei..." she continued to read the text in Ancient Egyptain.
Suddenly, Serena, and then, Raye who was awoken by a sudden feeling of evil, both suddenly saw a dark vision in their minds, their friend back down below, lifeless, as Evy's chanting continued, until...he jerked instantly to life, and roared, unleashing the most horrifying and imhuman scream ever heard in history, before the two Sailor Scouts' visions returned to normal.
Just as Serena blinked, she and Evy both heard Allen scream out loud, as he too somehow woke up by the chanting and was fully alert.
"NO!" he yelled, looking horrifyed as Evy and Serena turned to look at him, seeing the horrifyed look on his face. "YOU MUST NOT READ FROM THE BOOK!" he screamed.
"DAAAH! Xehanort's after me!" Meowth shrieked as he awoke from a nightmare by the terrifying scream, unaware that he accidently broke the fourth wall. He blinked in confusion, then laughed sheepishly realising what happened, "Oh, hahaha! I forgot. Xehanort doesn't come into the Sailor Moon series yet." looking at the readers while still breaking the fourth wall.
Serena turned to look at Meowh since he, Jessie and James were sleeping with her and her group, the teen quirking an eyebrow in confusion, asking, "What on earth are you talking about?"
But she didn't get an answer, as she and Evy then heard the camels make a groaning and uncomfortable moans, waking everyone else up. Rick, Raye, Lita, Mina, May, Jonathan, Jessie, James, Meowth, and their rivals all got up to their feet and looked towards the entrance of the city, as another, unusual sound came from further ahead.
"What did you do?" Raye asked to Serena who flinched.
"I didn't do anything!" Serena shrieked, before pointing at Evy, saying, "Evy's the one who stole the book and read it!" just as a black wall was coming towards them, and everyone soon realised what it was.
The Plague of Locusts.
"Run!" Rick shouted, leading Jonathan and the six woman towards safety down one tunnel, Team Rocket, the Americans, Beni and some of the diggers following, but the rest of the diggers were all covered and devoured by the Locusts in their panic.
Allen was on his own, covered in Locusts but surprisingly still alive, as he held the book to his chest, realising the human error that doomed Earth. "What have we done?" he asked himself.
"Where the hell did they come from!?" Handerson screamed as he, Daniels, Jessie, James, Meowth and the few remaining diggers all ran for their lives in great fear of the supposed to be killer Locusts...not that I ever believed that Locusts were meant to kill people, but this is a fiction story, not a documentry, right? Anyway, back to the story.
"This place really is cursed!" Jessie screamed as she comically ran, along with James and Meowth who also both ran comically.
"Yes! I feel the affects!" James cried out, screaming as he nearly tripped but managed to regain his balance.
"I should've known this place was evil!" Meowth yelled, covering his head before jumping and continuing to run.
At this moment, Burns ended up stumbling and fell to the ground, losing his glasses as the others continued to run without him, and as he tried to find his specks, Beni came running down and accidently trambled and crushed the glasses, picking up a torch before continuing on, screaming, "Wait for me!" while Burns was left on his own, in the dark tunnel, his vision blurry.
Using the cob-webbed wall as his support, Burns then heard movement, and, quickly taking out his gun, he tried to aim at whoever was behind him, turning back and forth in his poor vision while trying not to bump into anything.
However, he felt something behind him, and in his fear, slowly turned aroun, and too his horror, he found something that would be the first steps of his own doom.
"NOOO!" he shrieked.
Raye jerked again as she felt the evil pressence, gasping. She and the others were slowly venturing into the dark tunnels, trying to find another way out to avoid the locusts, but then the ground moved violently, causing the group to almost lost their balance.
The quake stopped, and in front of them, the ground moved up into a small mountain, and as Serena just asked, "What's that?"
To her horrified answer, squealing came and millions of Scarabs appeared. Immediately, Serena, Raye, Evy, Lita, Jonathan, Mina, Rick, and Amy all ran for their lives, the women screaming, while Rick was shouting, "Go! Go! Go! Run!" before throwing away the torch, taking out his shot-gun and fired and killed some of the scarabs before continuing to run.
The group soon found themselves on a bridge in the cave, and while Raye and Evy onto the large indent that was there to the right, Serena, Lita, Amy, Mina, Jonathan and Rick all jumped onto a platform to the left, all watching the Scarabs who continued on, not knowing that their meal had just tricked them. However, Evy and Raye both stepped back a bit further, only for the wall behind them to give way, and the two of them fell backwards, and the trap door that was there closed, trapping them.
The Scarabs then were gone, and Serena sighed in sheer relief, saying, "Phew...what a relief."
"Is everyone alright?" Amy asked, worriedly.
"Where's Raye?" Mina suddenly asked, noticing they were on scout short.
"Raye? Where are you?" Lita called out.
"Raye?" Serena then cried out, realising that Raye was missing, and she wasn't the only one.
"Evelyn?" Rick called.
"Evy?" Jonathan called out.
"Guys?" Serena cupped her hands around her mouth to make her voice louder, but Raye and Evy didn't answer.
Meanwhile, Evy and Raye both landed on the ground in a dark room, the moon's light being their only support of light from the crack of the ceiling above them. Both of them looked around fearfully, before hearing a moaning from around the corner. Raye, being a female warrior, silently told Evy to stay behind her, peaking around the corner, and the youngest female blinked in surprise.
It was Burns, and from what she could make out, she was hearing him moan, "My eyes." but his mouth seemed gurbled, almost like he had liquid in them. Raye stood up, along with Evy who felt relieved.
"Oh, Mr. Burns. Thank goodness." Evy sighed in relief, as she walked towards him, while Raye looked around, the pressence of evil much stronger than ever, ignoring what Evy was saying to the man. But then when the teenager turned to look again to say something, she noticed that Burns turned around...
And Evy and Raye could only see empty eye-sockets, and the absence of a tongue. Burn's eyes and tongue were both missing! The two women gasped in horror, both backing away.
But then Raye jerked again and quickly whipped around, and pulled Evy back with her, and out of the darkness and into the moon-light...was the very Mummy the found earlier, only that he now had eyes and tongue that were absent!
Raye and Evy both gave out blood curdling screams as they were both scared beyond belief. Both of them backed up to the wall, with the Mummy, clearly as Imhotep now that he was awoken from his 3,000 year cursed slumber, as he examined them, as if recongising at least Evy who, along with Raye, had their backs touching the wall.
"It's true..." Raye muttered. "The legend was true." unable to even preform her evil spirital chants to at least paralyze the Mummy. She then looked at Burns who was crawling away, calling out, "Mr. Burns! Do something!"
But Burns continued to crawl away, while Imhotep looked at Evy again...with Burn's eyes, and the evil Mummy inquired, "Anuk-Su-Namun?"
While Evy blinked in confusion of the name he'd even her, Raye blinked in even further confusion, turning to the older woman, and asked, "Did he just say, 'Anuk-Su-Namun', or, 'Another Sailor Moon'?"
A/N: Imhotep is back...Definately not good! The broken fourth wall part is a future hint of the main series in my "Sailor Moon Continuum" if you guys don't have a clue on what's going on. In the meantime, please continue your great reviews and the next chapter will come soon, that I promise.
