"This is stupid, where is it?!" Nick complained to himself frustratingly as he strode to carry on by his strong long legs, he left Clementine following behind to catch up with him in exhaustion carrying her backpack.

It's several hours they had gone, for now they were expecting to see it before dawn sets and they still never find it. With Nick being so frustrated, tired and carrying an rifle, his patience is growing thin when he never had a clue where it is, and so does Clementine. They walked all around like circles so the question is, where is it?

Had must they've spooked when they didn't see it? Or maybe it gotten away before they're too late?

Animals are rare and hard to find alive, that explains why they catch fish for food and of all since it started, most were eaten by walkers. Dogs,Cats,Horses, Farm animals, whatever others are, millions of them are gone like extinct.

She first remembered her last encounter with an animal, it's when after she gotten away from an ambush, she walk across a family dog who's friendly with her until his hungry aggression for food taken over him to attack her. She cringe a thought of it when she managed to push him off her to an another direction and pierced by few pipes through his body.

He was crying, whimpering and her heart pained when she saw the look on his face that never forgotten. She felt grief, so she decided to do a right thing by putting him out of his misery so he can be with his family.

She can't think about it right now, slight shaking her head, she focus her thoughts on Luke whom she's confused about him pointed the non-far direction where it is that isn't really there. But after they walked for a long time now, Clementine began to realized Luke wasn't telling a truth. It's only a lie for Nick to hang out with her.

She swore quietly and shake her head again to her stupidity. How can she be dumb to believe such a thing? If she's dumb to believe, then so does Nick which he should noticed it by now. It's a waste of time for him but for her, it isn't.

Clementine glowered a thought to smack Luke in the back of the head for not telling her but deep down it subsided that she appreciated for Luke's help anyway. Unfortunately, when she tried to get into an conversation with Nick to get to know him better, it's not what she really expected when he reacted.

*Flash Back*

"Nick?" Clementine smiled, she tilt her head to try get a look at him, but she can't and instead, stared the back of Nick's head.

"What?" Nick responded without looking at her, he's too focused scanning for any threats with a stern look.

She part her lips open to speak, but stopped and consider what she want to ask him, for a moment...she did but carefully.

...

"What do you want that makes you happy?" She asked him softly, she's waiting for Nick to answer until suddenly he stopped walking, making Clementine bump her face into his back.

"mpf!"

She step back wrinkling her nose and look up seeing his body stiffed and shocked to her question. His eyes looked down to the ground and think what he wanted but also he remembered certain someone who say that to him, he's confused as hell why she asked him for but he doesn't know.

Clementine's eyebrow furrowed. "Nick..?" She say his name slowly to get his attention, it did when he snap out of it as his eyes shot up.

"Uh...I don't know!" Nick stammered, he continues walking before she follows him, she frowns and wonder what got him acting so weird.

"What do you mean? It isn't hard to answer, maybe if you want, would you like me to draw something that makes you happy?"

"Yeah, go ahead" Nick shrugged. " I don't really care"

"Mmm..okay if you say so.." She said so unsure by his response but she ignores it and asks him another.

"If you don't mind me asking, what's your hobby?"

Nick's eyebrows pulled in together in a confusion. "My hobby? What for?" He asked curiously, he look over his shoulder to study her why she ask questions about him. She shrugged, and put on a smile to act.

"No reason. I just wanted to had a conversation..." Then she raised her eyebrow. " And you still didn't answer my question" Clementine reminded him, in a response, Nick remained quiet, still looking at her before he look away and think what he actually likes to do, but he answered her without thinking carefully.

"Okay...I like to sleep, drinking tons of whiskey, play chess with my best friend, and jerking off"

Clementine blinked, at then she secondly peered into through Nick for wanting to know the meaning of the last part.

"Wait a minute. What is jerking off?" She asked him the second as Nick widened his eyes in realization.

"SHIT!" He thought, and immediately regrets the cat pop out of a bag. Hell he didn't know why it came out of his bad mouth because of his dumb ass, but at least she doesn't know what it means, to his relief thank god no one told her.

"Uh – I don't know!" Nick shut her question down quickly and walk farther away from her very uncomfortably little scared, but she's unaware Nick didn't want to answer her.

"But you said you like jerking off. What does that even mean? Do you jerk something?"

He didn't answer, he kept walking all flushed and hope she drops it.

"Nick, are you listening?"

...

Clementine was about to reach for his arm but she stops herself and now sees he's avoiding her question, disappointingly, she sighed and look down giving up asking. She knows Nick isn't mad at her, but it didn't make any progress to know about him. She'll ask Pete about it later once he come back, and later, she will think a way to do something more fun with him.

It's already dawn, and her legs are already struggling, she pushed herself on forward to drag her legs behind Nick catching up with him through trees and bushes. Burning is overpowering her legs, more than enough exercise, it's starting to feel sore and shot pain. She can't handle it walking any further, she needs to rest.

"Nick?" Clementine weakly called out to him, her chest breathing hard. as she catches up close to his body.

"What?" Nick responded, his voice sounded exhausted and his face is worn out, his eyes somewhat droopy from being tired, mouth partly opening of his dry lips parching for water they wasted on supplies few hours ago they had and now it's all ran out, his body is full of sweat, clinged by his clothes sticking to his skin as like Clementine.

"We should go back, it's dawn and a lot of walkers will show up. Can we...rest for a little bit, and walk our way back?" She huffed.

Soon as Nick stop walking, she stopped and hunched forward to her knees easing down her breathing, as she take her time, Nick exhale and agreed. "Yeah..sorry "

...

"Ha...uh okay. Nick...why..why do you keep walking this way?" She asked, between her breathing before it return back to normal and got back up watching Nick who never move a slightest. She watched Nick tilt his head slighlty down, and slowly turned around. Once he faced her, he looked guilty..and she didn't like it how he looked at her.

"What? What is it?" She asked, worryingly.

"Uh..." He scratches back of his head, remained guilt. "I don't know" He answered honestly, and ready to brace himself when her eyes widened.

"What do you mean you don't KNOW!?" Clementine exclaimed, she takes a minute to understand, but when she does... the fear washed over her.

"Don't tell me we're lost.." She glowered at Nick who flinched from her expression.

"Uh -"

"NICK!" She glared.

"Sorry?"

Clementine huffed as she crossed her arms keeping her glare. "Sorry doesn't cut it! This is your fault!" She blamed.

Nick frowned, his eyebrows narrowed. "My fault? How is it my fault!?"

Her eye twitched, thinking Nick is like some idiot he always is, and after all she loved him, she can't help but be mad he got them in danger in a first place. "...Are you kidding me?! Because you don't know where you going!" She cried.

"Hey! You distracted me!"

"I didn't! I'm just following you!" She retorted.

Nick scoffed, his eyes shift somewhere else. "Yeah sure.."

"I'm serious Nick! Listen, It's still you're fault! If you can explain to me, why are you wasting time walking when you had no idea where you going!?

Nick kept glaring, after they glared eachother for little time, he angriy shake his head. "Look this is ridiculous. THIS..is stupid! Why do I bother wasting my time for hunting a shitty animal?!"

"Exactly!" Clementine pointed out, she got him right there. Nick gritted his teeth, anger boiling in his head and swear 'fuck' under his breath before he turned and head to a big oak tree not far from her. "Whatever"

"You always keep saying that" She muttered, she rolled her eyes and turn her back on him needing some space to calm down from their argument. She knew Nick isn't the brightest, but he's not that stupid, he knew it's his fault, he just doesn't want to admit it and blame on her instead. He still act like an hot-headed teenager and it infuriates her.

Thinking of him, remember why she's here, her eyes furrowed. Clementine now regrets but deeply sad for her anger taking over. Unlike Nick, sometimes her anger does takes over, it isn't a first time she had like this conversation. She was too upset with him who got them lost, and Nick kind of apologize to her which she shouldn't still blame on him after his apology. She would have forgive him, but now it's too late, surely she knew Nick won't stay mad at her for long, she knew him more than when she first met him. He'll get over it eventually maybe, and what's in her mind, she focused on survival with her first priority is to build a fire.

"We'll stay here for a night" Clementine turned to face Nick sitting back against the tree with one of his leg bent his knee and other straighten, his elbow is on his knee leaving his hand hanging off, his rifle he was holding is beside him placed by the tree.

"I don't see any buildings so..all we need to do is find some wood to build a fire...and it's good we still had some food with us so at least we'll be okay once one of us will watch for a while"

"Fantastic" Nick replied, sarcastically. "Did you bring something for us to sleep?"

"Oh..um.." She trailed off, knowing little embarrassed she didn't brought it, she was about to answer but Nick cut her off with a scoff.

"Well that's just great"

"I didn't thought we be lost here...sorry" Clementine apologized quietly, she felt bad he makes it like everything is her fault. She want to argue it's his, but she decided not to say anything harsh and walk around finding some wood, twigs, leaves and any rock of two for the key to create the fire, she even forgot her lighter too which it's a same reason why she didn't bring blankets, sleeping bags or a tent.

...

"Nick, can you find some woods for me?" She asked, while she's bent down picking some wood, twigs and branches off the ground. Meanwhile she picks them and placed it in the middle like pile of wood vertically. Nick was staring at her, he averts his eyes from her and look down thoughtfully to himself despite he's still pissed off.

...

Without answering her, he slowly got up on his feet while Clementine still picking them, until there's not enough before she remove her backpack off and set it down beside her, she kneeled and opens it rummaging through her supplies.

"Nick?" She called him again once he didn't answer her question, as she turned around, he's gone.

She waited for him to come back for ten minutes or so and hated Nick just go leave off a young girl alone in the woods without saying anything to her.

She sat in front of the pile-like a bonfire she placed and attempts to clash two rocks together to make a spark. However, it didn't make any effort so she keeps trying again and again Christa use to teached her. As she clash it one more time, it finally sparks below and creates a little fire through progress.

Clementine smiled proudly, face shown warm by an fire to her accomplishment, but it isn't enough. The light from an sun is fading away quickly, leaving barely light, it isn't very bright but it's starting to turn cool and breezy. She sighed and rub her hands together to create heat and keep herself warm from cool air breeze hitting her.

She's keeping warmth when she heard footsteps on grass. Caution, Clementine grabs the rock and quickly stood up as she turned to face an intruder who walk in the territory. Before whether she think it's a walker or a stranger, she sees who emerged from the dark and sigh slightly in relief it's Nick carrying few wood in his arms.

"Hey, you're back!" She rushes toward him with a smile as Nick returned the same.

"I guess you miss me?" He joked, matter saying in non-flirting way purpose, Clementine blush slightly pink and take a few he held to place them more. Nick set them down beside the fire and turn walking back to the tree, instead of the same position, his legs are slightly spread because of his exhaustion. He didn't, not only went through a hard time searching but manage to get passed by some walkers that lunged and attacked for his flesh, he get by like punching and beat it with the big wood. Earlier he thought it be quicker for him to get them faster though she asked him at a same time, he was going to refuse but he did it anyway.

Nick calmed down a little bit while he searches alone, reason he doesn't want to talk bad-mouth so he left her without saying anything, just giving himself time to calm down his thoughts, but still kind of upset. Nick will forget it about it the next day so he can hopefully if they come back safety the next day, he'll stay up in his room and jerk off all night in another world.

The fire is flared up pointing to the sky, combined with color yellow, orange and red than usual when Clementine first build it, she sat no close or far from it while wrapped around herself heating throughout her body. But the air is more stronger, it keeps hitting her face, hitting through her clothes sending freezing temperature that made her shiver.

"I'm freezing" She chattered.

"Warmed yourself up near the fire" Nick suggested, behind her, he still leaned back against the tree, he's not cold as she is, he's used to it since he lived around in the area longer than she does. It doesn't bother him.

Clementine scooted herself little closer and bring her hands up to the fire. It still give her heat for her hands, but not her entire body.

"It's not enough" She withdraw her hands and wrapped her arms around her again.

"Then go closer"

"I am! Do you want me to burn myself?" She glared over her shoulder.

Nick shrugged. "It's a suggestion"

"Well it's not helping. There must be something we can do.."

Clementine look around for any source of heat, not any to be found but there's one in particular she doesn't want to do, rather more enjoying she's shy to do. She glance over her shoulder again, Nick closed his eyes seeming like he's drifting off to sleep.

He isn't, his eye lids are too heavy to lift so Nick is still awake. He doesn't want to open but all he wants now is to sleep peacefully. Minutes passed, he was about to drift off until he felt something crawling under his blue shirt. Nick went with his eyes wide open and look down what crawled under beneath him.

"CLEM!" Nick cried, his face looked embarrassingly and awkward.

"What?" She asked, with confusion as she pop her head out from underneath, with their faces inches apart, she felt his breath hot and a little of alcohol tint of smell, it's making her dizzy but feels so warm, she want to sleep like this. Her hands rests on his chest, she feels a little muscle on his pecs through his white shirt

"Get off me!"

"I can't...i'm cold" She mummered, burring her face in the crook of his neck as she enclosed her arms around him, pressing her chest against his.

"I said get closer to a fire!" Nick said, with warning tone, but Clementine didn't care and want to stay here where she is.

"It's not enough..just please let me sleep like this, i'm freezing to death, I know it looks weird but it's the only way it will help me.." She suddenly trailed off dozing and drift off to sleep, she snores slightly and breathes in and out of her mouth making Nick little tensed and stiffed that he can't move and scared he'll wake her up.

However, Nick wanted to by pushing her off of him but he can't. He admitted to himself that he put her hell through a lot just walking, and also being a dick to her, that's how he is so Clementine would have to deal with it. He can't take a glance at her face that's buried in his neck, he can't move his neck either, he's stuck. Trapped and look like a mannequin, he remember she said one of them have to watch out for walkers, or worse if it's strangers that be hostile.

Nick swore and noted he can't sleep until Clementine wakes up which is less likely she will, much to his distress. He'll just had to wait and forced himself to keep his eyes open at all time and ears.

After all, she'll wake up...right?

What story should I continue next? Review and I will write it. :)

Please don't judge about building a fire, especially rocks of course because I don't read about it, just go along with it.
