I just wanted to let everyone know that if it wasn't for my followers, my favoriters, my reviewers, or all the 15,000 people who have read this story, I would have lost my inspiration for this story a while ago. It's been a year and 2 days since I first published this story. O.o It's insane! Sorry for the slow updates though! Now continuing with the story! Enjoy!
Chapter Eleven
Holding On For Dear Life
It's been two weeks.
Two weeks since she's heard Draco's sarcastic replies.
Two weeks since she's seen Ron's hunger.
Two weeks since she's heard the two bicker.
Two weeks since they been in the hospital.
Hermione sat there, holding Draco's hand, staring at the monitor that held the analysis of what his vitals were. His brain was functioning properly. His heart was fine. His blood level was fine and so was his oxygen level. Why wasn't he waking up?
Ron was a whole other story. His brain was fine. His heart was unstable though. Being tortured by the cruicatus has a affect after so many seconds. His heart had palpitations. His blood level was fine, but from him be infused with different blood from someone else, his oxygen was low. The other blood that was infused into him must have been diagnosed with a condition which refuses oxygen to travel with blood. He was hooked up to an oxygen-mask, and he had this monitor connected to his heart, showing how many beats per minute.
Draco had more of a chance to wake up so she sat there, staring at the two boys who she thought of as brothers laying on hospitals beds, with no help to come back to them.
Hermione lowered her head when the thought of them leaving her entered her brain. Tears blinded her vision and she tried repeatedly to tell herself that her thoughts were causing her emotions to overreact. For Merlin's Sakes they were right in front her!
But this didn't stop her from sobbing, her shoulders shaking with grief. She swallowed a lump in her throat and lifted her head, her body still shaking with subdued sobs.
"Draconis Lucius Malfoy, you listen to me." She was aware that they didn't know if they could hear her or not, but she talked to him anyway. "You're coming back, you hear me? You're stronger than this. Don't you dare give up! You have a life here. You have me, Harry, Ron a-and...if that's all the people you have then that shouldn't matter. You're my brother. You're not leaving me. Not unless you take me with you."
By the end of her mini-speech, she was whispering, not even sure if he could hear her or not now, if he could before that is. She put her head into her hands and let out a heart-retching sob that could've brought tears to anyone eyes with the emotion in it. It full of pain, suffering, sadness, grief, pain...not just for herself but for the two boys in the room unaware of her presence.
While she was sobbing, she didn't notice a figure stirring on the bed beside her. Her body still continued to shake. Then she heard a cough.
Draco's P.O.V.
The pain in my head and chest was blinding.
"- stronger than this. Don't you dare give up! You have a life here. You have me, Harry, Ron a-and...if that's all the people you have then that shouldn't matter. You're my brother. You're not leaving me. Not unless you take me with you."
The voice got lower and lower until it was a whisper and he could barely hear the person. Then I heard a heart breaking sob. I commanded I eyes to open, desperate to see what the person was upset about. MY eyes opened momentarily before he shut his eyes from the blinding light.
I opened his eyes again, this time squinting at the person beside of me. I was met with limp, curly brown hair. They looked as if they haven't ate in days and the sobs tearing out of their throat sounded hoarse and raspy.
I stared at the hair for a minute before I remembered how I got here, what happened, what my life was like, who the person was beside, and everything.
I sat up a little bit so I wasn't laying all the way down and coughed, trying to get Hermione to look at me.
She tensed up, it was obvious and lifted her head slowly before staring at me in disbelief.
'what?" I coughed before starting again. "No hug, or 'Draco, I'm so glad you're awake?'" I said jokily before my lap was full of a young girl sobbing into my chest, holding on for dear life.
She was blubbering against my chest and I heard her breathe become shorter and faster so I started to rub her back, shushing her, trying to get her to calm down. Her breathing calmed down and her words became clearer to me so I could understand.
"...I thought you were gonna leave...I thought you weren't gonna wake up...I was so scared, Draco...Don't leave me, please..." I rubbed the girls back and scooted over, even thought my chest tightened in pan when I did that, and gestured for the girl to get on the bed with me. She laid in bed with me with her arms around my torso, one of my arms behind her neck and the other behind my head.
"I'm leaving you 'Mione. You gotta Avada Kedvera me for me to leave this world." I whispered into her ear and hugged her tighter. I heard her breathing slow down and I let my head fall on top of hers before I allowed sleep to take over me, this time I was sure I was gonna wake up in a few hours.
Harry's P.O.V.
I made my way into the hospital, sped-walking to Ron and Draco's room. I would have been here earlier, except my job only allows me so much time out of the field. Kingsley refused to give me anymore days since I have been here for the last week and a half, waiting to see if one of them woke up. Sadly, they haven't. So I went to work from 2 A.M. to 2 P.M. We got up so early because the criminals thought they could get around easier at late night/early morning. But they don't.
It was 4:20 P.M. right now and I had been at the manor, cleaning up more of the debris in the kitchen. It was mostly fixed for the most part, just need to fix the marble/granite counter and replace the flooring.
As I entered the room, I had expected to see Draco and Ron in bed, unconscious, and Hermione holding one of their hands. But he was greeted with a whole other view.
Ron was in the same condition still, he expected that. He was worse off than Draco. What he didn't expect to see was a Hermione , with dried tear stains on her cheeks, cuddled into Draco's side and a Draco, laying there holding here while looking rested and relaxed at the same time. He smiled, his first genuine smile in two weeks, and sat in the chair he was sure Hermione was in before hand, and leaned his head into his hand and decided to go to sleep with the other one's into room.
Yay! Draco woke up! I wonder when Ron's going to come back to consciousness? We'll see.
