Hi guys! Sorry for the late chapter, but it's here :) I would usually list off my excuses, but I'll save that for the end this time...
So without further adieu, here's Chaper 11!
"Don't pretend that you don't know what's going on Ria!" Rebecca said loudly, clearly directing it at Ria, who had a large, sly grin on her face. "I've always let you have that party at the same time as mine, but when you're going to steal half my party's people, that's when it becomes a problem."
Ria just laughed. "Ah, well, I didn't know I needed your permission to throw a party." She leaned back against the wall next to the door. "And it's not my fault that people like me better than you."
An offended look passed over Rebecca's face. "Excuse me?"
"Yeah, I said it," Ria continued, "it's obvious people just like you because of your money and prettiness. But honestly, I don't see where the latter comes into play." Rebecca looked ready to slap the smaller girl across the face after Ria finished her sentence, but Ria cut her off. "It's because of Jack, isn't it?"
Rebecca only seethed. "This has nothing to do with him. This is between you and me."
"Right..." Ria replied smoothly. "Because who else, other than all the other people in their right minds, would decline your invitation to your party?"
The taller, blonde girl snapped. She lunged at the petite cheerleader, and swiped at her face with her long nails. Ria wasn't quick enough to catch Rebecca's hand before it connected with her face, but she was able to grab it just before the hand fell to Rebecca's side. Ria twisted her hand in such a way that it caused Rebecca to cry out in pain.
A small group of students had crowded around the pair of brawling girls; Jack stood at the edge of the crowd, where he couldn't get a good view. All her could see and hear were flashes of blond and black in the open space in the center of the crowd and shrieks of pain and anger.
A feeling of guilt settled in his stomach – had he caused this to happen? he thought to himself.
Being over three hundred years old, he had his fair share of brawls and fights. He remembered the fights that he and his friends would get into during his time alive in the village of Hawthorne. None of them ended without a bloody nose or black eye, as well as a long chiding from the elders of the village. He didn't want that to happen to Ria, black eye or the chiding.
Jack tried to make his way through the thick crowd to reach Ria to hold her back, but he couldn't even push through the first layer of people. He didn't really make it that far before the Biology teacher, who was walking down the hallway, caught notice (it wasn't really that hard to notice) of the yelling from the crowd and from Ria and Rebecca. The teacher shooed everyone away from the two girls, shouting.
When Jack laid eyes on Ria, she was panting heavily with her black hair tousled and three thick red scratches on her left cheek, right under her eye. Rebecca was holding her wrist in pain and her hair seemed to have been pulled roughly from her head. The two girls were ushered towards the office as they glared at each other in hatred.
"Damn, they really just fought?" a familiar voice said from Jack's side. It was Seth, who had caught up with him for Biology class. "I just missed it. I saw Ria and Rebecca though. What did she do to that girl?"
"Who did what to who?" Jack asked, trying to decipher Seth's interest in the fight.
"Ria to Rebecca, duh. Did she kick her ass?"
"I guess," Jack replied.
"Then how did she get those scratches on her eye?" Seth inquired. "What happened exactly?"
"Ria was basically asking for Rebecca to attack her. Rebecca was pissed, and Ria was just smiling at her, and I think Ria wanted her to do something." Jack began to relay the events of the latter part of lunch to Seth. He didn't hear the words that were passed, and therefore didn't get to tell Seth about that part, but at the end of Jack's recount, Seth grinned.
"That's my Ria! Honestly, she did what all of us should have done ages ago. Ria put her in her place, probably the only one who could do it."
Jack was a bit taken aback from Seth's approval of Ria's actions, but nodded. Sure, it wasn't the traditional way to solve problems, but at least Ria hadn't gotten hurt... hopefully.
When the final bell rung, Jack bumped into Ria on his way out of the school.
"Uh, hi," Jack greeted, unsure what to say to her after what he had seen earlier. "How are you?"
Ria smiled weakly at Jack. On her left cheek were bright red marks from Rebecca's fingernails; they looked to have been bleeding a little bit, but Ria made no attempt to hide it. "I'm fine." She looked around. "Where's your sister? I have to talk to her."
"I don't know," the winter-spirit replied quickly, much more concerned about Ria. "Is your cheek okay? What happened with Rebecca?"
"It's fine, Jack," Ria repeated. "Thank you, but please don't worry about me. As for Rebecca, she's probably going to get 'excused' for her problems like always." She rolled her eyes. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I really have to talk to your sister. I'll see you tomorrow."
Jack stared at Ria for a moment, dumbfounded. And then he shook his head; he remembered what Seth had told him when he first met Ria: "She's not the typical preppy cheerleader." Perhaps that was what Seth had been talking about.
Women were mysterious creatures... Jack thought to himself. Never once in his three hundred years as a Guardian had he ever thought that phrase would be concerning him. What was the human world doing to him?
Jack just shook off the thoughts, and continued to the exit of the school, ready to go home.
Much to Jack's surprise, it was not North, but Bunny who had pulled up to the front of the school to pick him up.
"Heya, mate," Bunny greeted as he pulled out of the school parking lot, "North's busy with Sandy, so I get to play chauffeur today. Tooth apparently has cheerleading practice so it's just going to be you and me."
"Wonderful," Jack replied flatly.
Bunny smiled. It was a handsome and warm smile, but to Jack, it still looked strange. So he made a face.
"Ah, what's the matter, snowflake?" Bunny inquired.
"Why are you in such a good mood today?" Jack asked suspiciously.
The man shrugged and kept his eyes on the road. "No reason. Why are you in a bad mood today? Usually you'd be smartass-ing me all the way back home."
Jack remained silent, unsure of how to respond to Bunny. Apparently, a rosy hue appeared in his usually pale cheeks.
"Aw, don't tell me it's a girl problem."
"And if it is?"
"Then I'll be glad to help," Bunny instantly answered. "I am the Guardian of Hope, after all. I don't want you to lose the hope that you'd be with this girl."
Jack humphed, but he saw Bunny's point. "But she's a pretty, crazy girl."
"Pretty and crazy isn't a bad combination..."
"Crazy as in she got into a fight today? Is that good?"
Bunny's dark eyes widened. "She what? The same girl Tooth cheers with? The one you like? Got in a fight? Like a fist fight?"
"Mmhmm, that's the one."
"Well, maybe it's for a good reason. Did you hear what they fought over?"
"No, but it looked like Ria wanted to fight."
Bunny made a disappointed face. "Well, did you talk to her after?"
"She said that she only wanted to talk to Tooth and not to worry about her," Jack explained.
"Well, it probably had something to do with Tooth and not you. Girls are strange. Don't think too much about it, snowflake," Bunny reassured. They pulled into the driveway of their house."
"Thanks, Bunny," Jack said genuinely as he got out of his car. "How about you? How's that girl of yours treating you?"
Bunny smiled. "She's lovely."
"When am I going to meet her?" Jack questioned curiously. "You hid her from me yesterday."
Bunny chuckled at the younger Guardian. "You were being a showpony yesterday. You'll meet her in due time."
There it is :3 a little short, I know, but I was actually busy. I had 2 tests last week, a piano competition, and a project. It was tough and I didn't get to go on the internet much for fanfiction . It sucks, I know, but hopefully you still liked the chapter and don't hate me too much :p

I will be back soon with Chapter 12, and then Chapter 13 (really excited about this chapter!) I know I'll have some free time this week, so I've already started to work on Chapter 12 :D
