After her talk with Rick she felt horrible but she knew Rick was right. That was the worst thing about her brother – he was always right. Corrie went back to her tent and grabbed her coat only to see Shane had already made his exit. Zipping up her coat she left the tent and ran to get Carl. "C'mon little buddy we've got wood to get. Got to keep everyone warm."

"Okay." Carl grabbed his father's sheriff's hat and put it on his head. Carl loved that hat more than anything. He felt important, he felt like he was a real adult and he knew he could contribute to the group even though he was just a child.

"Aunt Corrie, where did you run away too?"

Corrie looked down at Carl, almost speechless. She couldn't say she wasn't expecting it he was always a very curious child and she did owe him an explanation too. "I went to New York City."

"What was it like?"

"Big. Scary. Nothing like home at all."

The both of them lost themselves in conversation as they made themselves at home in the woods looking for dry wood to help keep them warm during the cold nights. She felt bad for Carl, this wasn't what she wanted life to be like for her nephew. He deserved to be able to have the childhood she had when she was younger. Out until as late as possible with your friends playing in the streets. Not out trying to keep away from walkers and find wood to keep your camp warm.

Corrie heard a sudden noise in the distance and her head snapped up and looked around quickly. Within the matter of seconds Corrie saw a heard of walkers coming her way, she crouched down and walked over to Carl as quietly as she could trying not to draw attention to them. "Carl…" She whispered. "You need to put the wood down and when I count to 3 turn around and run as quickly as we can. Okay? Get to your dad and mom as quickly as possible."

"1… 2… 3" Corrie grabbed Carl's hand and ran with him. Her legs moved faster then she thought was possible. The pain in her side grew a 100 times worse than before, she could feel the muscles starting to tear again but she needed to get carl safely back to his parents before the heard would make it to the farm. "Carl keep going, keep running I'll catch up. Tell your father a huge heard is coming this way. Get everyone out safely."

Corrie stopped, buckled at the knees and took a few deep breathes in and out trying to relax her muscles and keep the pain from over whelming her. The mindless groans grew louder, he knew she was going to either die here or try her hardest to survive. Corrie pulled the gun out from behind her back and shot a few of the closest walkers in the head. She turned to see Carl was long gone and she began to run her fastest again but there was no way she was making it there. She turned to her right and seen the barn. It seemed like her only chance at survival.
