Roxanne had stayed up until the early hours of the morning thinking. She thought about her parents and wondered if she'd ever see them again, she thought about her future, and she thought about her cousins and why they were all so messed up.
Rose was sleeping with her self-proclaimed enemy, Dominique was beyond barmy, Victoire must have been on the rag.
Wait she thought. Everyone is always synced up, always.
"Oh my god," Roxanne exclaimed as she sat up.
"What," Rose asked from beside her.
Roxanne threw a pillow down the line of people sleeping on the floor, hoping it would land on Dom. The pillow hit her square in the face, and she groaned before siting up.
"What," she snapped.
Roxanne gestured toward the kitchen and the three walked into the room, a slight breeze coming from an open window.
Roxanne wasted no time and asked, "Is Vic pregnant?"
"Wait, what!" Rose said, finally completely awake.
Dominique stood still before slumping over, "Yes, but you can't tell anyone else."
"Who knows?" asked Roxanne.
"Just me, Teddy, Louis, You, and Rose," said Dominique while getting a glass of water.
"How long have you known?" Rose asked after gaining some sense of composure.
"Since before all of this happened," said Dominique, flailing her arms to signify "this."
Roxanne sat down on one of the bar stools round the island and wondered why her family was so messed up. She was relatively normal, got good grades, and was attractive by normal standards, why did she have to have one cousin who was knocked up, one cousin who was "sleeping with the enemy," one cousin who fucked their lives over and managed to send them twenty-something years into the past, and one cousin who was so unbelievably bipolar that a wing of an asylum should be named after her.
"You have to tell your mum," said Rose.
"Don't you think we've told her that! But it isn't my secret to tell, let her and Teddy decide what to do," Dominique retorted.
"I'm going to sleep," announced Roxanne.
She went back into the living room, leaving Rose and Dominique in the kitchen. She settled down on her pile of blankets and pillows on the floor and tried to fall asleep.
She counted backwards, she thought of boring things, she tossed and turned, nothing got her to sleep. She rolled over and notice that Rose and Dominique had returned from the kitchen, and both were asleep.
Roxanne finally fell asleep just as the sun was beginning to rise.
A heavy mass fell on Roxanne, and she immediately woke up. She opened her eyes, and saw Fred on top of not only herself, but Rose and Dom as well.
"Whoops, I forgot you all were down here," said Fred while standing up.
Dominique tripped him as he was walking to the kitchen. Everyone who was awake burst into laughter, which caused everyone sleeping to wake up.
Roxanne walked into the kitchen and saw Fleur, Lily, Margot, Molly, and Lucy already making breakfast. Roxanne looked at the clock on a windowsill and was surprised that she had slept past ten o'clock. Victoire and Louis hadn't made an appearance yet, Roxanne knew that Victoire was unlikely to come down at all.
Half and hour later, Louis did emerge, but only to get few pieces of toast and glasses of water. He gave everyone a sympathetic shrug before heading up the stairs.
After eating, Rose, Molly, Teddy, and Scorpius went back to reading their copies of the time travel book. Roxanne sat on one of the couches in the living room, bored out of her mind. She thought of asking Rose to make another copy of the book, but she knew bothering one of them would result in one of her limbs being torn off.
Roxanne fell asleep on the couch and dreamed that she was born into a nice muggle family that drove a hatchback and lived in the suburbs. In her dream she had two dogs, her own Vespa, and a little sister.
She had always wanted a little sister, like Dominique and Victoire, well maybe not exactly like Dominique and Victoire.
She wanted someone to talk about boys with, give advice to, and to have the occasional spat with. True, she did talk about boys with Dom and Rose, she would, from time to time, give advice to Molly, Margot, Lucy, and Lily, and she definitely had spats with Fred, but she wanted it all rolled up into one.
She woke up abruptly when she felt something very heavy hit her in the stomach.
"What the hell," Roxanne said while examining the object that had hit her.
She realised that it was a copy of the time travel book.
"You might as well be useful," Rose said bitterly from her chair.
Great, just what everyone needed on top of pregnant Victoire, sleep-deprived Rose. Roxanne contemplated whether or not to tell Rose that she should probably get some sleep, but she decided the she'd like to keep her fingers and toes for as long as possible.
She started reading the book and wanted to go to sleep more than she ever had in her life. I mean the book was so boring, and there were already four much smarter people reading it, would she really make a difference?
Roxanne decided to see if she could talk to Louis and Victoire, because she'd take a hormonal pregnant lady over sleep, and possibly sex, deprived Rose any day.
She walked up the stairs and reached the door to her seized room and knocked a few times.
"Go away, Teddy," Victoire yelled from behind the door.
"It's Roxanne," she announced.
"Go away, Roxanne," Victoire emphasized.
She heard Louis ask, "C'mon, Vic, why can't she come in?"
A few seconds later, the door was opened by Louis who gave Roxanne a slight smile.
"Have you come on behalf of Teddy because "I simply must stop being so foolish and think about the bigger picture," because if that's why you're here than you can walk out the door," Victoire said while pointing to the door.
"I came up here because everyone is tired and irate," Roxanne explained while sitting on her former bed.
"Hey, see Vic, she just came up here to hang out. She won't plead with you or interrogate you," Louis said.
"Fine, but one question on my mental state, and I'll kill you," Victoire warned.
Roxanne laughed and said, "Well I guess you've just got baby brain or something."
Victoire stood up and quickly ran downstairs, Louis and Roxanne following close behind. Victoire sprinted into the kitchen, and promptly grabbed Dom by the shoulders.
"What the hell," Dom said, a bit caught off guard.
"I told you not to tell anyone goddamn idiot! What, the gossip wasn't good enough around here, so you decided to tell a secret that you swore you wouldn't tell!" Victoire screamed.
Once the sound of Victoire's yells had traveled through the house, the kitchen was packed with everyone, wanting to get a glimpse of the action. Teddy pushed his was through all of the cousins to Victoire, who immediately smacked him on the face.
"Or maybe it was you! What, couldn't handle one day of rejection so you sat down, had a cry, and told everyone!"
"Vic, what the hell are you talking about?" Teddy asked, completely unfazed by getting smacked.
"Roxanne knows," Victoire hissed.
"Woah, woah," Roxanne stepped in, "I figured it out myself and just confirmed it with Dom. You aren't exactly being very secretive."
Bill and Fleur, who had decided to test the waters at Gringott's, walked through the front door to find seventeen people in their kitchen, all shouting something different.
"Wait, WAIT," Bill yelled over everyone else.
Everyone quieted down and he continued, "Now I want one person to tell me what I going on. Only one. Dominique."
Dominique looked up and slowly began, "Well this morning Roxanne asked me if Vic was pregnant, and I told her yes, so Roxanne had the brilliant idea of telling Vic that I told her she was pregnant."
"I DID NOT TELL HER THAT YOU TOLD ME," Roxanne shouted.
Everyone else started yelling at once again, even Margot and Oliver joined in.
Fleur stood on one of the chairs surrounding the dining table and whistled so loudly, Roxanne was sure a window would break.
Everything went silent and Fleur smiled, "A baby! This is wonderful!"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Victoire demanded.
"Vic," Louis warned.
"No really," she continued, "under no circumstances is this "wonderful." Not only are we stuck here, but now I have to bring a child into the world, all while a war is going on."
"Vic, see that's your problem. You act like you're all alone and like the entire world against you, but we're all here, and you have nothing to do with the war. I think it's time to realise that you aren't the only one stuck here. I think now would be a wonderful time to stop playing the victim and finally grow up," Louis snapped.
Everyone gasped.
Even though his insult definitely wasn't the worst Louis could do, he and Victoire were as close as siblings could be, and as far as everyone knew he had never snapped at her for as long as anyone could remember.
For a moment Roxanne thought Victoire was going to run up the stairs and barricade herself in the bedroom again, but instead she walked into the living room, picked up Teddy's discarded copy of the time travel book, sat in an armchair, and started to read.
After the initial shock of Louis's outburst had worn off, everyone went back to what they were previously doing. Teddy made himself another copy of the time travel book, instead of disturbing Victoire.
Roxanne flipped through chapters of her book until she stopped at a chapter titled "Effects of Excessive Time Travel." It featured a story on woman called Eloise Mintumble, who travelled to the fifteenth century in the late 1800's. By the time she was retrieved, she had aged five-hundred years, and subsequently died within a week of her return.
"Have you all read about Eloise Mintumble," Roxanne asked after finishing the chapter.
"Yes," Rose and Molly said simultaneously without looking up from their books.
"Well, I was thinking, since she was retrieved, that means it's possible to get back," Roxanne explained.
"Considering," Rose started, "that once she was retrieved, she aged nearly five centuries, I don't think it would be a wise decision to follow in her footsteps."
"I just meant that we know it's possible to retrieve a person. And that was nearly one-hundred-and-fifty years ago, they could have figured out what went wrong," Roxanne contested.
Rose didn't respond, and instead continued to read her book. Roxanne figured that she was ignoring her and decided to hell with Rose. She knew she wasn't nearly as smart as Rose, but she was trying to help the best she could.
"Ah ha! I think I've got it!" Rose exclaimed.
Everyone put down their books and faced her while she continued, "Memories can be retrieved from a person, that's how they got Eloise Mintumble back originally, by combining time turner sand with the last known memory of her in 1899, but the problem was, she was retrieved by people from her own time. When a person uses a time turner, they don't get younger, so in theory, we should be able to take ourselves back to the future."
"As brilliant as you are Rose, you must be forgetting that all of the known time turners were destroyed in 1996," Teddy pointed out.
"The keyword is "known" time turners," said Scorpius. "My father has a framed one hanging in his office, and I'm sure there's one, if not more, in Malfoy Manor at this very moment."
"Perfect, let's just walk in and ask them for it! We can bring the little ones, a picnic, and make a whole day of it! Hello, Death Eaters and known murders, would you like a sandwich?" James said while walking into the living room.
"Well, of course not, but I think I have an idea," Scorpius divuldged while everyone listened closely.
A/N: Yes, I know I am the worst person ever, but I wanted to focus on my grades because last semester I failed a class *gasp.* (it wasn't an important class so it only hurt a little bit) But anyway, now I'm in a really good place with my grades right now, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to start updating this story on a regular basis again. I don't have that many future chapters written, so the intervals between the next few updates could be a little further apart than they used to be, but I really wanted to upload this chapter and apologise to everyone who has put up with me being absolutely ridiculous and being on a nearly four month hiatus. Ok and please, PLEASE, review because they make me all warm and fuzzy inside, and not to mention I'll love you forever.
