A/N: I promise that I'm done with big Brittana drama for now. I'm moving on to Rachel and Quinn drama for this chapter. I was originally going for a Rachel/Finn and Quinn/Puck background but I like Faberry. There will be multiple Faberry flashbacks. Anyway, I hope I do y'all proud.
"You what?!"
"Finn and I broke up."
"I, uh, do you want to come over here and talk about it?"
"Can I?"
"I'm sure my parents won't mind. I'll see you in a few minutes."
"Okay Santana. Bye."
They hung up the phone and Santana left her bedroom. Maribel was still in the kitchen when Santana got down there.
"Mami, do you mind if Rachel comes over? She's in crisis mode and I don't want her to be alone."
"That's fine Santana."
"Thanks Mami."
Santana decided to wait on the steps to her house. Within a few minutes, Rachel pulled into her driveway. Just as Santana stood up, Rachel ran out of her car and hugged Santana. Santana felt Rachel crying on her shoulder.
"Come on. Let's get you inside."
Santana brought Rachel up to her room and they sat on her bed. She waited until Rachel calmed down before talking.
"I don't want to push you or anything but I want you to know that whenever you're ready to talk, I'm here Rach. I mean, you called me for a reason so I guess you have something to say."
Rachel laughed softly before speaking.
"Finn and I broke up because we were never meant to be."
"What are you talking about Berry? You and the jolly green giant are like soul mates or something."
"I could never be with him fully because my heart is set on someone else."
Santana grabbed the water bottle next to her bed and took a drink of it.
"And who would that be? Please don't tell me Puck. He's an idiot and will just mess up your life."
"The little support you have for Puck is quite hilarious, but I am happy to inform you that any brief fling I had with him is indeed over."
"So, then are you going to spit it out or what?"
Santana took another drink from her water.
"Its Quinn."
Santana started choking on her water.
"Seriously?"
Rachel nodded her head.
"This is seriously fucked up. I swear glee club is the cause of this."
"What are you talking about Santana?"
"First Brittany and me, then two other girls, now you and Quinn. Does glee club turn us gay or something?"
"I don't believe that to be plausible but there is an unusually high amount of girls who like girls in glee."
"So, wait, does Quinn feel the same?"
"I believe so."
"I knew she was into chicks."
"Just because we kissed does not mean she's into chicks."
"Was she drunk?"
"No."
"Was it from spin the bottle or a dare?"
"No."
"Then she's into chicks or at least one specifically. Quinn is too much of a prude to kiss a girl without it being a game or there being some kind of real attraction."
"That does sound like Quinn."
"So, tell me what happened. Start with the kiss up to the break up. I want details!"
Rachel laughed at Santana's antics and started to describe to Santana the events leading up to her break up with Finn.
It was after the girls basketball game against McKinley's biggest rival when it all started. They had just won the game and everyone went to celebrate the win. Rachel thought she was the only one in the gym when she felt someone tap her shoulder. She spun around and was surprised when she was met with familiar blonde hair and soft smile.
"Quinn?"
"Berry, are doing anything right now?"
"I was planning on going home, why?"
"I, uh, was wondering if you'd want to come over to my house and, uh, hang out."
Rachel had always harbored an attraction for Quinn. During the time that they were closer, the attraction developed into real feelings for her. Rachel pushed them away by dating Finn. The feelings would resurface anytime she was alone with her.
"That would be lovely Quinn."
Quinn smiled and led them out to her car. The drive to Quinn's house was short and silent. They got there and went to Quinn's bedroom right away. Rachel and Quinn sat on her bed and looked at each other.
"Rachel, we're friends right?"
"Of course."
"So then can I ask you something?"
Rachel had no idea what Quinn was going to ask but she went with it anyway.
"Go for it."
"Why are you dating Finn?"
"I, uh, because I l...love him."
"If you are going to lie to me, you could at least do a better job."
Rachel readjusted herself and spoke more surely.
"I love him Quinn."
"Are you sure you don't like anyone else?"
"I...you...any attraction to another person I have is irrelevant. I am dating Finn and there is no way the other feelings I have would be reciprocated."
Quinn and Rachel stared at each other intensely. Rachel prayed silently for Quinn to rebuff her statement. If she was being honest with herself, Rachel would choose Quinn over Finn any day. That would only be an option if Quinn felt the same way. Rachel was snapped out of her thoughts as she saw Quinn leaning into her. She knew what was coming. Their lips were millimeters apart and she could feel Quinn's unsteady breath. Rachel pushed Quinn away. There was a hurt look but Rachel knew what they were about to do was wrong.
"Quinn, I can't. I'm with Finn. I can't do that to him."
"Look into my eyes and tell me you don't want this."
Rachel tried so hard to say something but no words came out. Quinn slowly leaned in and placed her lips on Rachel's. She didn't move until she felt Rachel kiss back. It didn't last long as Rachel pulled away and stood up.
"Rach..."
"No Quinn. I've... I have to go."
As Rachel left the room, both girls started to cry.
"So she kissed you first? Damn, Fabray is actually growing some balls. I'm proud."
"You can't tell her that you know. At least, not yet. I didn't want to tell anyone but it was killing me to be quiet about it. You were the only one I trusted who wouldn't tell anyone."
"Alright. I'll keep my mouth shut Berry."
"Thank you Santana."
"Okay, so that happened like two weeks ago. What happened since then?"
"Well..."
Rachel continued to talk about the events of the last week with Santana.
During that week, Quinn avoided Rachel as much as possible. Rachel tried to talk to Quinn a couple of times in the hallway but the girl would just walk the other way. It hurt Quinn so much to see Rachel on Finn's arm like nothing happened. After a particularly annoying display of affection between the couple, Quinn abruptly got up from her desk the classroom without telling Mr. Schue where she was going. Quinn ran to the girls' locker room knowing that no one would be in there at that time. She sat on the bench and started crying. Suddenly, the door swung open. Quinn quickly wiped the tears away.
"Get the hell out! No one should be in here!"
"Quinn?"
Quinn felt herself crumble at the sound of Rachel's voice. Rachel rushed over to Quinn who started crying again. Quinn had her head in her hands. Rachel placed her hand on Quinn's shoulder but Quinn shrugged it off.
"What's wrong Quinn?"
Quinn finally looked up with anger in her eyes.
"Are you fucking kidding me Rachel? How can you be so oblivious?"
It dawned on Rachel what Quinn was talking about.
"Quinn, I am so sorry. If things were different, I would definitely be with you, but..."
"But Finn got you first. He's an idiot and he doesn't deserve you."
"Like you do? You have treated me horribly since we started high school. I have gone home crying from the torture you put me through. Finn would never do that to me. And you don't have any right to make fun of him!"
"I know I haven't been good to you but it's because when I like someone that I probably shouldn't, I do awful things to make it go away. I wanted to be the perfect daughter so I dated guys to stop feeling things for you. Then I made the stupid mistake of sleeping with Puck and got knocked up. My image with my parents was ruined. After I realized that, I stopped trying to please them. So I gave up trying to hold my feelings back and kissed you. Now we're here."
"So all of those years, you made fun of me and slushied me was because you had secret feelings for me? Are you a 10 year old boy?"
"I know what I did was shitty and if I could take it back, I definitely would. But Rach, I lo...like you so much."
"I, uh, Quinn, why? Why now? Finn and I finally got to a good place and now you have to come along."
"I was done hiding my feelings. It has been killing me not to act on it for so long. I wanted to know if you felt the same way."
"But I can't just drop Finn for you."
"Why not?"
"Quinn, he's my boyfriend. He has been good to me and he doesn't deserve that."
"Oh come on Rach, he's not that good of a boyfriend."
"You're only saying that because you want us to be together."
"I'm not just saying it. Rachel, he's selfish and lazy and he's not motivated whatsoever. He doesn't truly care about you or anyone in glee club. He couldn't even stand up to Karofsky when he was bullying Kurt. That proved he cared more about his popularity than his own stepbrother. Sam stepped up more than Finn did. Finn also does as little as possible so he can just get by. He's going nowhere. No plans for the future, no ambition. You deserve someone who would be able to take care of you if you decide to spend the rest of your life with them."
"Quinn, I can take care of myself."
"I know that, but your dream is Broadway. You know and I know that there is going to be time in between the roles you will have without a doubt. And living in New York can be expensive. You need someone that aspires to do more than just sit on a couch and play video games."
"Are you saying that you're going to give that to me?"
"If you'd give me the chance Rachel, I would love to be the one to take care of you."
Rachel let everything that Quinn said sink in.
"I don't know what you want me to say."
"Say that you'll at least think about what I've said."
"I...fine. I'm going to go back to class."
Rachel left Quinn by herself in the locker room.
"Go Quinn for finally telling you the truth about Finn!"
Rachel glared at Santana. Santana threw her arms in the air trying to come off as innocent.
"What? Finn is an idiot and you could do a lot better."
"Keep your opinion to yourself for now otherwise I won't finish telling you."
"Okay, okay. Continue."
Rachel spent a long time thinking about what she wanted. Part of her knew that Quinn was right about Finn. He did think about himself a lot. But, he was a pretty good boyfriend. He made Rachel laugh and helped her through her insecurities. However, as much as she tried, she could not picture herself with Finn for the rest of her life. And now, she was picturing a future with Quinn. She imagined them sharing an apartment in New York. They would kiss each other good bye before heading off to work. Rachel would visit Quinn during her lunch break at the elementary school Quinn would work at. She could bring Quinn a special lunch and they could eat together. Rachel could imagine coming home to Quinn after a particularly long rehearsal. She tried to picture that with Finn, but she couldn't. Rachel realized that Finn didn't have any ambitions. Finn was nice to be with now, but there was no future with him. Rachel called Finn and had him go to her house. He arrived shortly after. Finn tried to kiss Rachel, but she dodged it so he just kissed her cheek.
"Hey Rachel. What's up?"
She didn't know how to start this conversation with Finn. She didn't want to upset him but that was inevitable.
"Finn, I, we need to talk."
"About what babe?"
Rachel and Finn sat on the couch and looked at each other.
"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?"
"What do you mean?"
"I'm talking about the thing you always like to avoid. The future, Finn. What do you think you'll be doing in 10 years?"
"Where is this coming from?"
"Someone reminded me of how you seem to have no clue about your future. Just because it is still far away doesn't mean you can blow it off like it doesn't exist."
"Rachel, I don't care where I end up, as long as I'm with you."
"Finn, while that seems sweet, you need to do something for yourself. I can't be everything for you."
"Why do you even care? You're too busy preparing for stupid Broadway."
"First of all, Broadway is not stupid. Its something I really care about and as my boyfriend, you should respect that."
"I'm sorry Rach."
Rachel sighed. She didn't want to do this but she knew it was what was right.
"Finn, I think we should break up..."
Finn jumped up off the couch.
"What? We just got back to a good place again! What's wrong this time?"
"Part of it is what you said. You said that we got back to a good place again. That definitely shows that this relationship hasn't been working for a while. And I'm sorry. You're just not the guy I thought you were."
"What does that mean?"
"I think I liked the guy I thought you could be."
"I can still be that guy."
"No you can't. You can't change who you are."
"I would change for you."
"I can't ask that of you Finn."
Finn started to pace the floor as he thought. Anger flashed across his face.
"Is there someone else?"
"What would make you come to that assumption?"
"So there is? Who is it? Puck? If it is, I'm going to beat the crap out of him."
"Calm down, Finn. I can assure you it is not Puck."
"So then who?"
Rachel didn't want to tell Finn. She knew he would be more furious than if she would have said it was Puck.
"If I told you, would you promise not to confront them or get angry?"
Finn visibly calmed down. He was still mad, but he wanted to know.
"I promise Rach."
Rachel reluctantly stated her name.
"Quinn."
Anger and frustration ripped through Finn's body.
"Quinn? Quinn?! Are you serious Rachel? You're not even gay and neither is she."
"I've always said that my sexuality is fluid. I was never against being with a girl. I just hadn't found one, until now."
"So you're serious? Look Rachel, I dated Quinn so I know she's not gay."
"Did you ever wonder why your relationship didn't work out?"
"There were other reasons..."
"Yeah, that she liked girls more than being with you."
"Rach, I..."
"If she wasn't gay, would she have kissed me?"
Rachel suddenly realized she went too far with this. She just wanted to break up with Finn and have it to end amicably but she probably just unleashed the demon inside of Finn.
"She kissed you? When the hell did that happen?!"
"After the game last week."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I knew you would be hurt. I needed to think about what it meant before I said anything."
"You waited over a week to tell me and you act so, so, so, I don't even know. This is crap Rachel."
"I'm sorry Finn. I didn't want it to be true, but I have feelings for Quinn. I want to see where it goes."
"So you're breaking up what we have for a girl who tortured you for 4 years?"
"Finn, we don't have anything anymore. We've grown apart. I wan you to be happy but its not going to be with me."
"Whatever Rach. I'm done!"
Finn stood up and left Rachel's room and went straight outside. Rachel cried for awhile, not because she thought she made a mistake but because she ruined her friendship with him. Rachel knew he was going to be angry with Quinn and her for a long time.
"That's everything?"
"Yes Santana."
"When you said you broke up with Finn, I thought you were crying because you regretted it or something, but you don't?"
"Not at all. Well, I regret the way I did it. I could have been gentler and not picked fights with him, but we did need to break up."
"You're not going to yell at me if I said that he didn't deserve you, right?"
"No, I guess not. You've known Finn for a while and I feel that under all your harsh words, you would tell the truth about him to me no matter what."
"That's true. So, what are you going to do now?"
"Well, I'm hoping Finn will be sulking too much at school tomorrow to say anything. Quinn will hopefully notice that we're not together and then I will sing a song during glee to her."
"While I'm all for serenading, because I know it works from experience, isn't that a bit risky in front of Finn tomorrow? Won't he like, go crazy, kick a chair and walk out or something?"
"Is it bad that I'm hoping that he does it before I sing to Quinn?"
Santana chuckled.
"Rach, I'm not telling you what to do or not to do, but you need to be careful. I understand that you want to be with Quinn but did she ever say she was okay with being out to the school?"
Rachel stopped to think for a second. She never said anything about that. Oh god. What if she wants a secret relationship? I just broke up with a nice guy for a relationship that I won't even be able to tell anyone about?"
"I hate when you're right."
"How about this? I'll get Mr. Schue to talk about Nationals where you and Finn have to do a duet. Finn will get upset and leave. Then you can sing a duet with a newbie in the club and sing to Quinn. No one will notice except for Quinn and well, obviously me. The new kids are still super quiet and I know Marley is struggling. Can you sing with her? I told her that I would help her with something and this will definitely help."
Rachel smiled and nodded her head.
"What should I sing?"
"I have the perfect idea."
Santana and Rachel discussed how the next say in glee would go.
"Thanks Santana for all of your help. You are way nicer than you let anyone think."
"If you let other people know that, I will definitely have to cut you."
Both girls laughed wholeheartedly.
"Well, I should probably go. We have school tomorrow."
"Okay. I'll walk you to the door."
Rachel and Santana went downstairs. They said goodbye and Rachel hugged Santana. She left and Santana went back up to her bedroom to sleep.
The next day passed quickly. Classes seemed to only last minutes instead of hours. Before they knew it, everyone was sitting in the room waiting for Mr. Schue to arrive. Everyone noticed how Finn and Rachel weren't sitting together and how he looked like a sad puppy. Mr. Schue walked in and set some stuff in his office before greeting everyone.
"Sorry I'm late. I was..."
He stopped talking when he noticed Santana's hand in the air.
"Mr. Schue?"
"Uh, yes Santana."
"Well, nationals are coming up and I was wondering what you have planned?"
"I, uh, well nothing is set in stone. I know we need a really strong ballad for Finn and Rachel to sing."
Finn raised his head from being mentioned. He felt his anger start to bubble up.
"The ballad needs to be powerful and romantic and..."
Finn stood up and started to walk out of the room.
"Finn, where are you going?"
Finn didn't answer. He just kicked the garbage can on the way out and left.
"I wonder what crawled up his butt today."
Everyone chuckled at Puck's comment. Rachel raised her hand and Mr. Schue called on her.
"Yes Rachel?"
"Can I start the club off today? I have something I prepared with Marley that might appeal to even you."
"Oh really?"
"Its a Journey song that we have yet to do in glee."
"I love Journey. Go ahead."
Rachel skipped to the front of the room and Marley joined her. Brad started to play the beginning chords of the song. Rachel sang first.
Lying beside you
Here in the dark
Feeling your heartbeat with mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere
How could our love be so blind
She looked at Quinn as she sang each word. Rachel could see that Quinn seemed to be happy that she was singing to her. Marley then sang the next part.
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are
By my side
She looked at Kitty who hadn't been sitting with Jake. Kitty smiled at her. Rachel and Marley sang the chorus together.
So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms
Once again, just Marley was singing. By this point, Kitty realized that she was singing to her.
Living without you
Living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home
Rachel sang the next lines. She looked directly at Quinn, hoping shed get the message.
But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay
Rachel and Marley sang the chorus again. Some of the other glee club members sang some back up harmonies.
So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms
After the song was over, everyone cheered and clapped, especially Mr. Schue.
"That was wonderful ladies. Just remember, any Journey song is always a good song to sing in here."
Everyone laughed at Mr. Schue's obsession with the band.
"I'm going to dismiss glee club early today. You are free to go home."
Rachel started freaking out when Quinn told her to meet her in the parking lot. Rachel quickly ran up to Santana. Santana saw how much Rachel was freaking out.
"Rachel, calm down. Go outside and talk to her."
Rachel nodded and left the choir room. Santana decided to go talk to Marley.
"Hey. You were good up there."
Marley blushed softly.
"Thanks Santana. I really appreciate what you did."
"For some reason, I've been really nice recently. I need to go back to some of my old ways."
"People in glee actually like you now. They're not afraid that you will attack them."
"I guess that's not so bad."
"If you have to be the old Santana, just don't do it to the glee kids."
"I'll try to play nice."
"Good. Well, I need to talk to Kitty."
Santana watched Marley talk to her. Kitty seemed to be happy with whatever Marley had been saying. Santana decided to check and see if Rachel was still at the school. She went straight to the auditorium. What she saw reminded her of what happened with Brittany on the stage. Santana saw Rachel and Quinn kissing. She clapped her hands multiple times as she walked down the aisle to them. The girls pulled apart. Rachel smiled when she saw it was Santana, whereas Quinn looked horrified.
"S...Santana, its n...not what it looks like."
"Shut it, Fabray. I know."
"You know?"
"Yes. Recently, Berry and I have been playing nice. She came over yesterday and told me about your kiss and how she broke up with Finn."
"Sorry Quinn. I needed to tell someone."
"Its okay. I told Brittany. Well, she guessed."
"So I gave Berry the idea of serenading you because it worked wonders on Brittany. And she decided to sing that song."
"Santana, it was your..."
"Rachel came up with the song. I just had her sing with Marley because I needed to help her with something too."
"You mean the fact that she's got it bad for Kitty?"
"Yeah. How'd you know?"
"I've been holding my feelings back for awhile. I know that look. She has it for Kitty."
"That's true."
"So, did it work for her?"
"It seemed like it when I left the choir room."
"They should call you the lesbian matchmaker or something. You got you and Brittany together, me and Rachel, and probably Marley and Kitty. That's got to be some kind of record."
"We'll see."
They all stood around awkwardly.
"Well, I'm gonna go because you two want me to leave but won't say it."
"Santana..."
"No I get it. If it were me and Brittany, I would definitely do the same thing."
Santana left and went to the parking lot. Brittany was leaning on Santana's car. She didn't see Santana approach her. Santana wrapped her arms around Brittany's body and leaned into her neck. She tensed at first but relaxed as she realized it was Santana.
"Hey Brit."
"Hey Sanny. Why the wonderful greeting?"
"No reason. Can't I just hug my girlfriend?"
"It was you, wasn't it?"
Brittany turned around to face Santana.
"What are you talking about, Brit?"
"It was your idea for Rachel to do that. You're the one who helped Finn leave so she could sing to Quinn. And you picked the song. Rachel would have never come up with a Journey song on her own."
Santana smiled softly.
"Got me."
"You got Rachel to sing with Marley because you promised to help her too."
"Yeah. I hope you're not mad about that. I did it because no one should go through the struggle we went through. Even though most of the time I don't like them, those girls deserve to be happy too."
"Santana, I am so proud of the person you've become. I thought you were awesome before, but now you're even more awesomer."
"B, I don't think that's a word."
"Well, now it is, and it only applies to you. Seriously, you went from being bad ass Santana Lopez to still being a bad ass but now even better. You stopped hating yourself which stopped you from truly hating other people. You accepted yourself and then let other people accept you. It takes someone so strong to do that. I always knew you had it in you."
Suddenly, rain started to pour down on them. Santana tried to go into the car but Brittany stopped her.
"What B? The rain is coming down pretty hard."
Brittany kissed her. Santana was surprised but kissed her back. It lasted for about a minute before Brittany pulled back.
"Santana, I love you."
"I love you too B."
"Santana?"
"Yeah Brit?"
"Will you go on a date with me?"
Santana smiled brightly. It would be their first real date since they became a couple.
"Of course."
So I am sorry to all the Finn lovers for Quinn bashing him and his fight with Rachel. I liked him too but my plan for this story changed. It became girl on girl galore. Santana/Brittany, Rachel/Quinn and Marley/Kitty. Maybe the glee club does turn girls gay. The Almighty glee club has super powers to turn it's girl members gay. That would be an interesting fic. And next chapter will be date night! Anyways, thoughts on the chapter?
