Sam's P.O.V.
"I saved the text to drafts." Freddie told me, sitting on my bed.
I was currently working on one of my Powerpoints about some dude in the army like, a bajillion years ago. "What'd you put?"
"'I can't wait to see you tomorrow night. Ask for a reservation of K.G. at the Frink's restaurant at 8:oo p.m. They'll know who you're talking about. 1 more day.'" Freddie quoted.
"The Frink's restaurant? Isn't that like, one of those fancy restaurants you used to take Chelsea to?" I interrogated, finishing my last slide. Ugh, Chelsea. I can't see the look on her face when she realizes she's been pranked. I smiled at the thought.
"Yep. You wanna go there later tonight?" Freddie offered.
I tensed. Sounds like a date to me… is he asking me out on a date? No, no no no… No, he can't be… "That sounds like a date, but whateves." My eyes averted to his direction. Freddie was blushing mad.
"No, it's not… uh, a date." Freddie's blush deepened. "It's just so that we could find a location for us to hide tomorrow night, you know, to spy on Chelsea and whoever it is that we're using for this prank."
I can't help but feel a little disappointed. It's not a date. But I want it to be. Ugh, why am I thinking this? I don't like Freddie! Or… Maybe I do. "Yeah, yeah, okay. But you're paying, right?" I asked him.
He nodded. "Yeah."
"So, what's Chelsea's gift tonight?" I sat down on my bed next to him.
He shrugged. "Nothing, I guess."
"Just go all cliché on her and give her some chocolates." I offered. He shrugged again.
"Okay, I'll be right back. When I come back, you wanna go visit Carly to see how's she's doing?"
"Yeah, okay, sure." I reply.
Freddie knocked on Carly's door. "Hey, Carly." Freddie greeted when she opened her door. The Carly in front of us looked weird. Her hair and clothes were disheveled, her makeup smeared all over her eyes. She panting, very breathless. Her eyes widened when she caught sight of us.
"Um, He-heeeey guys…" Carly said awkwardly.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to enter the door. She blocked me out.
"Err… I was kinda in the middle of something… ummm…" Her eyes looked at the ground for a moment, and she suddenly slammed the door shut. My brows furrowed.
"Hey!" I kicked the door, before walking away, and making my way to the parking lot.
"She was probably doing it with Nate." Freddie said.
"Probably. Hey Fredweird, we need a dude for tomorrow." I reminded Freddie.
"Oh right, where do you wanna go to find one?"
"How about that store in the gasoline station near the restaurant we're going to tonight?" I suggested, opening his car with the car keys I took out of his pocket without him noticing.
"Oka—Sam, give me my keys." He commanded, reaching out to grab the keys out of my hand. I pulled my hand away before he could grab his keys.
"No." I argued, sitting down in the driver's seat.
"Sam," He said in a serious tone, "Don't make me do what I did last time." I sighed in frustration, and handed him the keys and scooted over to the passenger seat.
"Okay, leggo!" I shouted at him, and he started the car.
We arrived at the store near the gasoline station around 3 minutes later. I stepped out of the nub's car and went inside, searching for dudes to set Chelsea up with. Okay, most of the dudes here are not cute. There's this dude who's hair sticks out everywhere along with his teeth, and he spits every time he talks. There was another boy who spits on other people. And there's this other dude who has a Mohawk but you know, too many piercings. Dang, I didn't know it was going to be this hard. I searched the place again, grabbing a fatcake that Freddie was eating, and spotted a really cute dude who would totally make Chelsea attracted to him and her boyfriend jealous. Perfect. "Fredwad, Fredwad, hey diphthong. That dude is cute. We should make him be the dude at her fake date." I pointed to the dude I was obvserving.
"Sam, are you sure? I mean, how do we know they're not single or something?" Freddie asked, looking at where my finger was pointing.
"Easy." I walked over to the cute dude. "Hi, hey there, dude." I waved my hand in front of his face. He was currently reading this one magazine. He looked up. "Hi."
One of his eyebrows rose up, but he smiled. "Hello."
"Hey, are you single?" I suddenly asked. His eyes widened, but he smiled seductively.
"Why? Are you single?" He grabbed my hand. I pulled away.
"Uh…" I started, but he cute me off.
"Hmm? Do you want to you know, be my girlfriend or something?" He suggested, reaching for my hand again.
I was about to punch him when Freddie spoke up, "Um, excuse me, yeah, over here. She isn't single." I looked at him with a confused look. He just smiled at me before turning his attention back to the weird but attractive dude. "I'm her boyfriend."
I almost choked on my spit. What's he trying to do?
"Oh? Oh yeah? Prove it." The dude laughed. "She's too hot to go out with you."
Freddie rolled his eyes, grabbed me by the waist, hard, and pulled me against him. In a flash, our lips connected. Oh God, I missed his lips. His soft, pink lips that taste like Heaven to me. They moved in perfect sync, and I felt his tongue enter and exit my mouth, then he pulled away, much to my disappointment. I was flabbergasted. What just happened? I looked at the dude to see his reaction. I smirked when I saw his mouth and eyes wide as saucers. But, I was still shocked about the surprise kiss. When Freddie pulled away, he still held me on the waist.
"Does that prove anything?" Freddie smirked, holding me tighter.
"Okay, fine, but why was she asking why I was single?" The dude asked, crossing his arms across his chest.
"We need you to go on a fake date with another chick." Freddie explained, showing a picture of her in his phone. He then deleted it. "Well?"
The dude smiled. "Yeah! Yeah! Of course." He grinned. "Wait, fake date?"
"Y-yeah." I managed to say after the shocking moment just a while ago. I explained to him what happened and why we wanted to play a prank on her and stuff. "So, you'll do it?"
"Yeah! Wait, will she be single after this?" Jonathan asked. (We found out his name when we were explaining the prank)
"Dude." I said, while Freddie face palmed himself. "Do you really expect us to know that?"
"No." Jonathan answered.
"Then don't ask!" I grunted, and tried calming down. "Okay, here's the address, what time you'll need to be there, and all the stuff you need to do."
"Okay." Jonathan said. He leaned close to my ear. "But when you're single again, remember, I'm available." He whispered, but then pulled back. He held a picture of Chelsea that we gave him. "Unless this chick decides to date me." Then he walked away.
Freddie and I trudged back to his car after finding the right person to set Chelsea up with. My mind kept wandering back to the moment when Freddie unexpectedly kissed me. "Hey, why'd you kiss me a while ago?" Oops. I didn't mean to blurt that out.
Freddie's eyes grew big before turning back to their normal size. "Um. Well, that guy was hitting on you, and um… you seemed uncomfortable, so… I said I was your boyfriend." He scratched his head and started driving to the Frink's restaurant.
"You know I could've taken him myself. I could've just easily said I didn't have a boyfriend, then slap him if he hits on me again. You know that, you didn't have to say you were my boyfriend either. I also could've said I had a boyfriend, but he moved somewhere, and now we're maintaining a healthy long-distance relationship."
"Well, um, I didn't think of that." He said with a sad tone to his voice. Woops.
Gah, Sam, why do you have to be SUCH an idiot? You like him, and you made him feel bad. The least you could've done was to thank him for making the dude back off.
I face palmed myself mentally. I should've just said thank you—wait, what did I say? I like Freddie. Huh, I didn't even hesitate.
Okay, fine I admit, I do like Freddie. But if you tell anyone, I will slaughter you.
"Oh, no, it's fine… err, th-tha-anks." I stuttered.
"No problem." Freddie said as he parked the car in front of the restaurant. "Come on, let's go eat." He opened my door for me, and led me inside the restaurant. The sight amazed me. The walls were white and accented with golden flowers that stretched from one corner to another. The tables were placed everywhere, in rows, making room for people to walk anywhere. The tables were transparent and next to every table there were plants. I mean, the restaurant looked amazing for me to even describe.
"Sam? What do you think?" He smiled. "This restaurant is perfect for tomorrow's fake date. And, there's where they are having their fake date, and there's where we are hiding. Over at that table." He pointed to a table.
"How many?" The usher asked, looking down at a piece of paper.
"Table for two, Benson reservation." Freddie answered.
"Oh, Mr. Benson!" The usher clasped their hands together while she raised her head to look at the nub. "Welcome back! Come, is this your new girlfriend? She's a keeper." The chick winked, and led us to our table.
"Oh, no, no, we're just friends." Freddie said, fiddling with his thumbs.
"Friends with benefits." I hear the usher mumble. Then, she left.
Freddie was blushing, and turned to look at me. "Sorry about her. She's kind of… she kind of has a thing with uh…" He cleared his throat. "Seddie." He mumbled.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked, smirking. I heard him, but I wanted him to say it again.
"Shehasathingwithseddie." He spat out really fast. I rolled my eyes.
"Slower, please."
"She…" Freddie's voice turned into a whisper. "has this thing with 'Seddie'" He put his hands in the air as quotations when he said 'Seddie'
"Oh. Okay theeen." I looked at the menu, my eyes almost leaving my body. "This… is so expensive, I don't think I'll be able to pay for my dinner."
"It's fine." Freddie sighed. "I'll pay for it." He smiled at me in awe.
"Are you sure?" I gulped. I mean, this is really expensive, and he's willing to pay for everything?
"Yes, I'm sure Sammy." He replied. My eyes went to his direction when he said that. He cleared his throat awkwardly. Did he just call me 'Sammy?' That's what he called me when we were dating. He must've slipped. "Sorry."
"It's cool." I said. Oh, why must this be so awkward? "I'll just… I won't eat."
"Sam." He sighed again. "It's fine, really." I shook my head. He was about to say something else, but the waitress came.
"May I take your orders?" She said in a really fancy voice.
"Okay, I um…" And after that I zoned out. I didn't hear anything else. I was too busy thinking if I really do like Freddie, or if I'm in love with him. Dang it, what if I never stopped loving him? Okay, let's think this through.
1) You were jealous when he was out with Chelsea.
2) You comforted him.
3) You liked when you slept with him.
4) You loved the kiss.
What does this all add up to? In love status, ding ding ding.
I didn't have time to think more because a plate was set in front of me, and its heavenly smell filled my nostrils. Wait, I didn't order any food. I looked up at Freddie.
"It's fine, really, Sam. Think of this as a treat from me to you, for everything you did." He smiled, and stuck his fork into his food. I looked at my plate. Well, I guess he ordered the same thing for me. We just sat there, talking and eating, enjoying the tastes that hit my taste buds. Man, what kind of food is this?
And soon, it was time to go home, so he drove us back to our apartment.
"Hey, um, today was awkward, but frankly, I had a really fun time." I commented, collapsing on our new loveseat.
"Likewise," Freddie replied, swinging my legs to the other side, making room for him to sit.
"Yeup." I said, drifting off to sleep.
"Goodnight, Princess." I heard, and I felt two arms wrap around me. Ah, I do love him.
Then it made me wonder: Does he love me back?
