Thank you for your reviews. I really appreciate them.
I don't own Bones. We all know it but it had to be said.
Ooooooooooooooo
Stepping into his girlfriend's office, Booth noticed the little wrinkle between Brennan's eyes. Adoring how cute she looked, Booth stood staring at her for a minute. Hearing a noise in the hallway, Booth cleared his throat, "Hey Bones, I have Jason Murphy's body. My techs are bringing it in right now."
Looking up, Brennan placed her red pen down on her desk and frowned, "Why didn't you call me? I would have liked to have been at the cemetery when the exhumation occurred."
Shrugging his shoulders, Booth replied, "You were teaching class this morning and Jason's father wanted it done when he could be there. I really couldn't wait for you, Bones."
Standing, Brennan walked over to her coat tree and snagged her smock, "Alright." Placing her smock on, she walked over to where Booth was standing and glanced around him to see if anyone was standing in the hallway. Seeing the area was empty, she leaned up and kissed him. "Do you still want to go out tonight?"
Returning her kiss, Booth placed his hand on her hip, "Absolutely."
Stepping back, Brennan smiled, "I enjoy your kisses, Booth."
Flushed, Booth stared intently as his partner, "Oh, I love your kisses too, Bones. Believe me."
Watching her walk past him, he stared at her hips as she entered the hallway. Shaking his head, Booth exhaled slowly and followed her to the platform.
Almost to the staircase, Booth heard his name called. Turning he saw Cam walking rapidly towards him, "Booth, how are you feeling today?" Arriving next to the stair case, Cam placed her hand on his arm, "Is your migraine gone?"
Nodding his head, Booth placed his hand over hers, "Yeah, it's gone. Thanks for coming to the hospital to get me. No way I could have made it home without you."
Angela, standing next to Brennan as she studied Jason's desiccated body, glanced down the stairs and saw Cam and Booth talking. "Oh, that's interesting. Cam and Booth seem pretty tight this morning. Maybe they got back together now that Hannah is out of the picture."
Glancing at Booth's hand on Cam's hand, Brennan shrugged her shoulders, "He's probably thanking her for taking care of him when he had his migraine. The prescribed drugs he took had terrible side effects."
Pursing her lips, Angela turned her attention back towards her friend, "Cam told me that you went over to take care of him."
Nodding her head, Brennan studied the victim's skull where the bullet had entered. "Yes, the drug he was given for the migraine made him sleep and he was unable to respond to outside stimuli. Cam took care of him for several hours and then I took over his care. I am his partner and I do have his medical proxy."
Watching Booth and Cam climb the stairs, Angela glanced back at Brennan, "Booth is a lucky man to have such great friends."
"That's true." Frowning, Brennan leaned closer to the skull and stared at the stippling around the wound, "It looks like Jason Murphy was killed by someone holding a gun just an inch or so from his forehead."
Staying near the railing, Booth pulled some blank note cards from his jacket pocket and started to make notes, "The coroner's report didn't mention that."
Moving the magnifier closer to the skull, Brennan shook her head, "Apparently the coroner isn't very good at his job."
Amused, Cam placed latex gloves on her hand and joined her colleague in examining the body.
Leaning against the railing, Booth flipped through several note cards until he found the one he was looking for, "The coroner was Tom Kettle. He retired two months after he did the autopsy for Jason Murphy. He had cancer."
Examining the tattoo on the victim's thigh, Cam remarked, "I knew Tom. He tried to work as long as possible but the pain got to be too much for him and he finally had to quit. He didn't want to quit because he said the job kept him interested in the world. He died about two months after he retired. He was a very nice guy and he really was a very good coroner before he got sick."
Flicking his eyes between Cam and Brennan, Booth commented, "Maybe he should have left the job sooner."
Shrugging her shoulders, Cam remarked, "Maybe, but he didn't have any family so I guess he didn't want to. . . . You know this tattoo is not professionally done. It looks very amateurish."
"How about the tattoo on Lisa's body?" Flipping through his cards, Booth finally looked up and shook his head, "All I have in my notes is that she had a heart tattoo on her thigh. Did you notice if it was done professionally or not?"
Frowning, Cam shook her head, "When I looked at it, her tattoo looked like it had been done professionally. It wasn't an old tattoo either. This tattoo looks like its probably 16 years old. Lisa's tattoo was about six or seven years old."
Curious, Booth made a note on his card, "So she got her tattoo after Jason was killed?"
Nodding her head, Cam used a magnifier to look at the tattoo in greater detail, "Yes, maybe she did it to honor Jason."
"If she did it to honor Jason, I'd have thought she'd have got a diamond like his." Shaking his head, Booth straightened up, "This whole thing is just weird. Lisa, Jason and Howard Bean were all wearing odd costumes. They were all covered in similar shrouds. Lisa was shot with an arrow, Jason was shot in the head and Howard died of strangulation. If this is a serial killer he sure isn't sticking to the same routine. Two of them were buried at Shenandoah and one at Hungry Mother. It's almost like we have two killers."
Shrugging her shoulders, Cam moved to the front of the table to examine the forehead of the victim. "It's possible. Let me do an autopsy to see if I can find anything else useful."
Oooooooooooooooooo
Knocking on the door, Booth adjusted the collar of his shirt and waited. The door opening, Booth was surprised to find Brennan still in her work clothes, "Hey, I guess you aren't ready."
Shaking her head, Brennan motioned for Booth to enter her apartment, "No, I just got home. I got caught in a traffic tie-up and was stuck in traffic for an hour. I was going to call you but I thought I'd still have time to change before you got here."
Watching her walk over to her bedroom, Booth offered, "We don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to. We can stay in, order pizza and watch a movie."
Stopping, Brennan turned to look at her date, "Are you sure? I know you wanted to go to that new restaurant."
Shaking his head, Booth took off his jacket and laid it across the back of the couch, "Nah, let's stay in. We can go some other time. We can have a date here."
Smiling, Brennan nodded her head, "Thank you. I am tired and I really would like to just stay home."
"A date is whatever we want it to be Bones." Taking out his phone, he flipped through his contacts for Mama's, "Don't put a lot of pressure on yourself. It's just me. You know me. I'm easy. Give me pizza and a movie and I'm happy. You're tired and the important thing is to let you get some rest. We'll just have a quiet night and you can go to bed early."
Entering her bedroom, Brennan stripped off her clothes and changed into jeans and a t-shirt. Uncertain about her attire, she stripped off the t-shirt and found a blouse that she liked and put it on. Studying her image in the mirror, she shook her head and left the bedroom. Finding Booth looking at her collection of DVDs, Brennan explained, "I meant to buy some new movies but I really haven't had time to go to the store."
Holding up a DVD, Booth smiled, "Bones, relax. You really are putting too much pressure on yourself. It's just a date."
Grimacing, Brennan sighed, "But it's our first date and I'm already disappointing you. I . . ."
Shaking his head, Booth placed the DVD down and walked over to where Brennan was standing. Placing his arms around her, Booth kissed her cheek and then hugged her, "Bones, stop it. You and I are dating and I don't care what we do on our dates. We're doing things together. You are not doing anything wrong. You had a crap day and you had a bad commute home. You're tired and if the truth be told, so am I. I think some of that migraine medicine I took is still hanging on. I just ordered pizza. We'll watch a movie and relax. It's okay. It's a perfect date."
Pulling a little way from him, Brennan stared into his concerned face, "If you're sure."
Kissing her, Booth assured her, "I'm sure, Bones."
Releasing her, Booth walked over to the couch and sat down, "You choose the movie. It'll be okay, you'll see."
Oooooooooooooooooooooo
A siren roaring down the street past the apartment building, woke Booth with a start. Rubbing his eyes, he noticed that the clock on the wall said 3:16. Shaking his head, he leaned over Brennan who was using his lap as a pillow and kissed her, "Bones, wake up. You need to go to bed. It's after three."
Surprised, Brennan sat up and stretched, "You should have woke me up sooner, Booth."
Smiling sheepishly, Booth responded, "I was asleep too, Bones. I guess I was tired too."
Standing, Brennan clasped Booth's hand and pulled him gently. After he was standing, Brennan ordered him, "You need to stay in my guest bedroom, Booth. It's too late for you to drive home."
Shaking his head, Booth objected, "I'm not too tired to drive home, I probably slept about six hours like you did. I can drive home."
Shaking her head, Brennan pointed to the guest bedroom, "Booth, don't be stubborn. Sleep here and then go home to change before you go to work."
Yawning, Booth nodded his head, "I think you're right." Releasing her hand, Booth walked over to the guest bedroom, "It was a nice date, Bones. Very nice."
Nodding her head, Brennan watched her Partner walk into the guest bedroom and close the door behind him. Staring at the closed door, she finally walked into her bedroom and sat down on the edge of her bed, "Why can't I just tell him that I love him? What's wrong with me?"
Unhappy, Brennan changed her clothes for a pair of pajamas and crawled into bed, "I know him. I know he loves me. I just don't want to ruin our friendship, I don't want him to leave me."
Sad, Brennan stared at the ceiling, watching the shadows play across the ceiling fan.
