Chapter 11: Love is for All

It was nearing past midnight by the time that Watari entered the hospital, with a face filled with weariness that had not been there for many years. L was always managing to get himself into some sort of trouble, whether he went looking for it or not. Only this time, Watari was unsure if he could help l out of this trouble. He'd only been gone less than a month on a business meeting set up by L himself, when he became suspicious of L's lack of contact with him, before he was hurrying home with the worst thoughts in his mind.

Imagine his surprise to find L in the hospital and in the current state he was in.

He surveyed the hospital room, careful to be quiet. Matsuda had fallen asleep in the hard, plastic chair near the window, in a position that would be sure to leave him stiff tomorrow. Mogi was deep asleep in the chair next to Matsuda, though looking a tad more comfortable. Mr. Yagami, Ide and Aizwa had all gone home to be with their families as to not worry them, seeing there was no sense in overcrowding L's hospital room. Light was fast asleep in the chair closest to L's bed, with his head resting on the covers and hands reaching towards L's hands.

L. Little L was in the large hospital bed in the center of the room. IV tubes and wires were all hooked up to him and various, beeping machines. The machines swirled and beeped all around him, alerting Watari that L was safe and alive. If this were the old, adult L, he would never have been brought to the hospital in the first place and would have already made an attempt at an escape.

But now L was all but a child.

Watari move to the side of L's bed, watching the young boy sleep peacefully while stroking his cheek. "Oh L. What have you gotten into this time?" Watari sighed, before taking a seat at the end of L's bed. It would be a long night.

Morning came and Light opened his eyes blearily to the sunlight. He stretched his arms up, while his brain tried to remember the events from the last night to pinpoint where they currently were. The memories and events came rushing into Light's mind like a flood breaking a dam.

Misa's party. L's illness. Alcohol. Poisoning.

He looked over at the bed and around the room. Everyone else still seemed to be fast asleep due to exhaustion besides himself. And L.

Light blinked in surprise at seeing L's alert and quite awakened face, watching him curiously from his spot on the large bed. Light felt a smile on his face when his eyes met the dark black eyes of the tiny detective he had come to love. L sat up straighter in the bed and beamed widely at Light.

"Hello L. How do you feel?" Light asked as a nurse came into the room. L frowned, wrinkling his nose in the adorable manner he had. He shook his messy black hair, with his frown still intact.

"Yucky." L said making a face, and holding his hands to his stomach. Light sighed, watching the nurse as she checked on L's vitals. Last night had been a long night for everyone, especially for L. L had been violently sick just about every hour. There was at least one or two people awake whenever L was sick, to make sure he was okay and to help him when he was sick.

"Well your body is beginning to clean itself out and returning to a normal state." The nurse said softly, interrupting Light's musings. She opened up his IV to replace the bag of saline and check the medicine flowing into L's body. Around them, Matsuda was beginning to stir into consciousness, along with Mogi. Matsuda yawned and attempted to stretch out the sore kinks in his back from sitting in a chair for so long. His sleep filled eyes focused on L and a small smile graced his lips.

"Did you sleep well?" He addressed L and stood up. L nodded truthfully, knowing full well it was no use in lying to police officers. Besides they had been nothing but kind to him since he had arrived in Japan. L reached for his bear and brought Holmes close to his chest, while the nurse checked his blood pressure and heartrate. She smiled briefly at L and eventually exited the room.

L exhaled softly. "I thought she would never leave." He mumbled, fixing Holmes's bow. The others laughed at L's expression, grateful to finally be able to laugh instead of panic or cry.

"You're still the same as ever L." Watari chuckled. L would be okay with these people. L's eyes widened at the voice and a goofy grin overcame his face. A burst of laughter fell from his lips and Watari couldn't help but smile at the boy.

"Watari! You've returned!"

By now, the others had actually realized that Watari was in fact in the same room as they were. After not seeing the man in so many weeks, they had nearly forgotten that he was in fact a part of the team and quite close with L. Closer than they had imagined before.

"Hello L. I apologize for my tardiness, there was a matter of business that I needed to take care of. But it appears that you are in the best hands possible." Watari said softly, taking a seat on the bed near L. L grinned, reaching out the pat Watari's shoulder in a childish manner.

"Yes! Light and Matsuda and Mogi have been brilliant! They've been so kind to me and always help me out!" L chattered happily, much to everyone's amusement. "They even saved my life from Misa!" Light felt his heart darken at the blonde woman's name. The same woman that nearly killed L and destroyed everything. If he never saw her again, it would still be too soon.

"Watari, we didn't even notice your return." Matsuda said with a hint of surprise in his voice. Light stood up to observe the elderly man, with a gentle smile of relief.

"Yes, I apologize Matsuda. I only returned to Japan late yesterday and made my way to the hospital once I had learned of what occurred. Though I never expected to find a five-year-old detective in the place of L." Watari explained, eyes never leaving the still smiling L. Light sighed and nodded towards Watari. "With no advance in the Kira case, L sent me on a side case out of the country as crime does not stop for even someone like Kira. God or not, there will always be good and evil. So I had been sent out of the country on business just before it seems that L turned into a child. When I received no contact at all from L, over a serious amount of time, I knew that something was wrong and made my way back to Japan. Only this wasn't quite the trouble I had in mind." Watari smiled softly. The others had nothing left but to accept Watari's explanation, feeling more relieved than angered that the man had returned. If anyone knew L, it would be him.

L continued to smile at everyone around him, finally feeling safe and warm, until his smile slowly disappeared. A green tint crept across L's face and Light's eyes widened. He jumped and raced for the bowl left for L, only to place it under L's head, just in time for the five-year-old to vomit loudly in it. Light gently rubbed L's shaking back as he whispered soothing words to the ill child. Eventually L leaned away from the bowl and into Light's side, panting heavily but no longer vomiting.

"Sorry." L croaked miserably. Light pushed some of his long hair out of L's face and rubbed the boy's flushed cheeks. L sighed happily and leaned further into the warmth that was Light Yagami.

"Don't apologize L. None of this was your fault." Watari said in a fatherly tone. L didn't reply but only curled further into Light, and closed his eyes.

Despite Watari's comforting words, he couldn't help but feel like this was all his fault.

"How is he doing?" Sorichio Yagami asked his son and his co-workers later than day, before he began to eat. No one needed to ask who the chief was talking about, because they all knew in their hearts. Aizwa and Ide both looked up, wondering the same question but not bothering to voice it. Light sighed, picking at his son. It had been almost two weeks now and L was only slowly becoming healthier.

"Better than yesterday, but still feeling awful." He grumbled, picking up a fry and swallowing it whole. His father sighed but did not further ask about L. It was obvious that it was a touchy subject for everyone at the moment. Who knew someone so little could hold so much love? For a while no one spoke or even looked up from their meal.

"Well," Mogi spoke up, deciding it best to break the silence. "What are we going to do about Misa?" Instantly, hot and furious tension filled the air when her name was spoken. Almost like a drop of poison being spilt into the basin.

"Throw her behind bars. Like that'll teach her." Matsuda muttered bitterly. Light's lips quirked upward momentarily. Over the past few weeks, his respect for the other officer was beginning to rise.

"All we have physical proof at the moment is illegal possession of drinking and possessing alcohol around a minor. A jury or lawyer could argue L was curious and drank those drinks without the aid of Misa or her companions." Sorichio sighed. "They can pay the medical bills but until further investigation we cannot get them for poisoning L. It would be a waste of resources and time. Besides, I doubt L would want to testify against her in front of everyone. He's miserable as it is." The vibes of gloom and pain only continued to fill the atmosphere.

Was there no hope?

"Um, excuse me? Are you all here for Ryuusaki Yagami?" Light and the others heard a young woman ask from behind them. He turned in his chair to face the woman, upon seeing Aizwa and Mogi's gentle expression.

"Yes we are." Light replied before he could fully see the woman. His heart raced at the sight behind him and a smile wormed its way on his face. The woman was quite attractive and young, wearing a white nurse outfit. However, the sight that made Light smile was little L sitting patiently in her arms.

L?!

"Er, he really wanted to see you guys since he was feeling better. He practically begged every nurse and doctor that came into the room. I only thought it was fair to let him come, since he's been such a sweetheart." The nurse smiled softly, shifting L into a better grip. L stared curiously at the group, as if waiting for their reactions. Light blinked multiple times before he laughed. He opened his arms to allow the nurse to set L on his lap. She was mindful of the tubes still connecting L to his IV and monitors, so they wouldn't tug once L was in Light's arms.

L smiled brightly at Light, looking up to catch his eyes. There was a tint of pink in his cheeks, finally after so long and Light laughed once again, feeling a hundred pounds lighter.

"What is your name?" The nurse asked gently with a smile aimed at Light and L. Light looked away from L for a moment to look at her, while L snatched his bear into his arms.

"Light. Light Yagami." Light said simply, flashing a charming smile at the young nurse.

"Oh. That's quite a unique name." The nurse blushed wildly at Light's smile. Light nodded, trying to split his focus between L and this woman. After all, she brought their happiness to them in a time of need.

"What might your name be?" asked Light. The girl stuttered and her hand shot up to twirl a strand of hair nervously.

"I'm Yuki Alarmia."

"What a beautiful name." Light almost desired to laugh, as there wasn't a single patch of skin on the poor woman's face that wasn't red from embarrassment. She nodded at Light with a timid smile and took her leave.

"All the girls love Light." L said suddenly, sitting up. Light chuckle with a shake to his head. The others smiled warmly at L's random thoughts. "It's true though! Misa was in love with her. All the nurses want Light to love them and Miss Yuki too. Practically…every girl!" L protested.

"Oh yes. He certainly had a way with the ladies." Matsuda laughed happily, watching L's smile grow. It was as if L's presence had lifted all of their foul moods, just by being here. Replacing the gloom with sunshine.

"A ladies man." L said with wide eyes, looking up at Light. Light laughed once more before he wrapped his arms around L, hugging the small boy closer to her body. L giggled and snuggled further into Light.

Oh how he loved him.

Welp, that's a nice wrap for this chapter. Kind of short but some fluff to make up for that scary angst. Because who doesn't like a happy baby L? He deserves all the happiness in the world.

I have quite a few chapter written out, but as my writing was so atrocious back then I have to edit it as I type them up, so it takes some time. But I am hoping to have the next chapter up by tomorrow or Friday. That would be great, right?

Although, guys I am running low on ideas. I have about three or so major plot points left and obviously about ten or so chapters planned but my ideas are gone since it has been so long for this story. I ask: What would you like to see in this fic? Are there any ideas or plots you would like to see? I'm willing to make this a heavily fan based fic, that intertwine with the plot points I have currently. I would love to hear your opinion and voices and the more help I get, the faster I can type this story without writers block.

Let me know what you guys think of this story and what you would like to see in the future! Leave a review below! Comments? Thoughts? Likes? Dislikes? Ideas or plots?

Thanks and peaceout guys!
