It took hours to shut her parents up and shoo them out of Fionna's room. Before they finally left, her Mother had already arranged for her to see Gumball the next day. Her Father wouldn't stop talking about her future, how this would be a wonderful diplomatic event, his daughter, marrying a Prince, becoming a Queen. Fionna tried to smile and to gently tell them down, saying that marriage was a long ways away, that she was only fifteen after all, and that her feeling for him were, how she put it, in the early stages.

Her Mother kept talking however, along with her Father, about what to put on the wedding cake and what dress to make. Fionna finally put her foot down and told them that she didn't want to hear any of this. They had quickly said that it was not set in stone yet, but that it was a possibility. Finally, after pushing and shoving, they had left.

Fionna sank onto her bed, breathing a sigh of relief. She had got them off the real trail. But, seriously, she had gotten herself stuck in some deep stuff with the Prince. Her parents were so quick to judge and plan, it got to the point that Fionna was annoyed. And not just that, but angry. And slightly scared that what they said they would do.

Cake came and jumped up onto the bed. "Fionna honey, you ok?" Fionna looked up at her sister and nodded, "Yeah, but now I'm even more nervous about tonight. Cake, he… he doesn't know I'm a royal. He doesn't even know my name for Globs sake! How would I tell him if this date turns out to be… something more? He would hate me for lying. I'd be just one big lie!"

Fionna groaned and rolled over to bury her face in some pillows. Cake pursed her lips, "You gotta point." Fionna snorted, "Thanks." Cake then shrugged, "But if he really loved you, he would understand." Fionna was quiet, then sprung up and looked at the cat, "He would?" Cake looked at the bed spread, "Well, I don't know him, but I think he would. Maybe." Fionna processed it, and decided that maybe was enough for her.

"Cake, are you sure it looks ok?" Fionna asked for the fourth time. Cake clapped her hands, "Woo, girl, you look better than ok! You look smokin'!" Fionna turned back to the mirror to examine herself again. She had a slightly too long grey shirt on with no sleeves and 'Too sexy for my shirt' written on the front with a cool design behind it.

Somehow, it form fitted to her, clinging to her curves and making it somehow look… good. She had some skinny jeans on, made from a dark almost black material and black boots that came to her knees. They had straps on the sides, more for looks than anything else. They clung to her calves, but opened up a bit at the top, making her legs look slender.

A few gold and silver bangles hung on her wrist, making a little jingle noise anytime she moved her hand. She looked at her hair, frowning. "Cake, I wore a bunny hat when I first met him. He doesn't know that it's golden, and it could lead him on to 'I'm the Princess of the Grasslands'." Cake narrowed her eyes, "But Fi, a bunny hat with that outfit? It would ruin it!"

Suddenly she smiled, "Where is that hat?" Fionna pointed over to her wardrobe, "In the back with my hoddie and junk. Why?" Cake rubbed her hands together, "I have an idea." She crossed the room and opened the wardrobe, grabbing the hat after rummaging through Fionna's dresses and other assorted items.

"I will be right back sugar. Just hold on." Cake said. She walked out of the room, closing the door firmly behind her. Fionna stood in front of the mirror, looking herself up and down. Her hair was in a ponytail, falling down her back in a fall of straight and curly locks. Turning this way and that, Fionna scrutinized her looks. What did Marshall and Gumball see in her anyways? She wasn't beautiful like most Princesses, didn't have any special skill, and didn't have smarts.

She sighed. Thinking took too much of an effort on her part. She heard the door shut behind someone, and turned to find Cake walking back in. She smiled as she held up what was supposed to be Fionna's hat. "So, what do ya think?" Fionna raised her eyebrows. Cake had done some renovating on the bunny hat. It didn't have a chin strap or a face fabric anymore, but was more of a toboggan shape with dangling straps on the side.

Fionna walked over to Cake, grabbing the hat to get a closer look. She saw slight stitching down the middle of the hat, clearly visible. She liked it. It looked tough and girly at the same time. "It looks awesome Cake," she said, "But, this doesn't really help me. How am I supposed to hide my hair in this?" Cake shook her head, "You're not going to. You're going to hide it in plain view!" She reached behind herself and brought out a pair of scissors.

Fionna let her mouth drop open. "You… you want to cut my hair?!" She grabbed her head, "No!" Cake sternly put her hands on her hips, "Girl, you have too much hair to shove under a wig, and I have already made your bunny hat complementary to your outfit. It's either the hair that goes, or your date with the vampire." Fionna groaned. She didn't love her hair, but she liked it. And she had always had long hair. If she cut it, then her parents would notice, as would the entire kingdom! And what if she looked bad with short hair?

Cake started to laugh suddenly, "I swear girl, I forgot to tell you," she stretched her hand into her room opposite them, rummaging around it. Then she retracted it, a bottle clutched in her hand. "This," she said pointing at it, "is a hair growth formula. I got it from a friend when I accidentally shaved half my fur off." Fionna chuckled a little, but stopped when Cake glared at her, "Don't you even!" Fionna nodded and shook with bottled up laughter.

"When you get back from your date, we can just pour some of this sweet stuff onto your head and your hair will grow back good as new! And the same length too. That's the best part." Fionna gave Cake a doubtful look, "Are you sure?" Cake gestured to herself, "Would I lie to you? Besides, you don't see me walking around half bald do you?" Fionna pursed her lips, still looking distrustful. "Ok," she said finally after antagonizing with herself, "I am going to trust you."

Cake started forward, smiling, the scissors raised, "Good, so what-"

"But!" Fionna said jumping back, "Don't make it too short! I don't exceptionally like short hair…" She held her ponytail over her shoulder, stroking it. Cake wavered her hands around, "Ok! Just let me cut our hair! I'm not that bad, sheesh!" Fionna nodded, closing her eyes, "Just do it." She pulled the hairband out of her hair, letting it all fall free, covering her back with warmth.

Cake stretched up, her paws reaching for the first locks of Fionna's hair. Fionna heard the snip of the scissors, and then the light tickling of hair falling down her bare arm. She squeezed her eyes shut even tighter, more hair following suit. Every slip and fall of her long locks made her inwardly cringe. She didn't know why, but she guessed it was because her hair was the one thing that no one wanted to change about her. Everyone liked it, and so did she. Cutting it just seemed… taboo.

After a while, the snipping stopped, and Fionna felt a paw grab her hand. Cake led her over to the body length mirror, making sure to ruffle the hair a little. "Ok, look at yourself!" Fionna heard the pride in the cat's voice. Maybe it's not so bad… She opened her eyes, staring into the eyes of the reflection, and then at herself as a whole.

Her hair was short. She just had to get that thought out there before going on to the next one: She looked bad ass. Cake had cut her hair almost to her shoulders, leaving about an inch or two of hovering space between the two. It was in a jagged, but even, cut, circling up and around her head. Fionna realized too that for the first time, she had bangs. They cut jaggedly across her face, almost obscuring her eye.

Her new haircut matched with her new clothes looked pretty hardcore. She was amazed. She heard Cake clear her throat, "we aren't done yet though Fi!" She pulled out the newly made hat, and stretched up to put it on her head. It complimented everything perfectly. The straps on either end of the hat fell down to about the length of Fionna's hair, hanging freely.

Cake clapped her hands together, "I think you're ready!" Fionna gulped, suddenly dry mouthed, "Do you think he'll like me? I mean, my look and bizz?" Cake put her hands on her hips, "If he don't, then I'm going to claw his little vampire face off." Fionna chuckled, looking back at her reflection. "But… what if he figures out who I am?" Cake shook her head, "No idea, but seriously Fi. You don't look like yourself. But if he does find out, then tell him the truth."

Fionna sighed, "That's what I'm afraid I might have to do."
