Chapter11: Change
Itachi sat on his chair, biting his thumb, glaring at nowhere specifically. It has been three days since he had been with her and Madara had completely disappeared without a trace. He decided to give her space. He didn't want Shiryo to start asking questions. That kid is smarter than he looks. He quickly puts the pieces together.
Itachi leaned against his chair and was now looking at the ceiling. When he woke up, Kagome was still sleeping, far away from him. He didn't do anything. He just got up and left as if nothing had happened. Something inside him was aching. Is this regret? They have been together since teenagers…They promised each other, they would always be together….He wasn't like this.
This was not him.
He…He wouldn't cause her more distress. It's time to assume his responsibilities and not let his father influence, take over his life again. No. He's going to change and for good.
For Shiryo and Kagome.
For their happiness.
Grabbing his phone, Itachi quickly closed the door, hearing groans of pain of whoever was behind it. "Figures." He glared. "Sango?" Itachi locked the door. "Is Kagome there with you?"
"Why should i tell you, asshole?"
"Just tell me where she is." He walked back to his desk, taking a picture of the drawer. "It's about my son."
He noted her hesitation. Did Kagome tell her what happened? Humm, probably not. Police would have taken him away if she did. "I think she is in the office but i doubt she wants to see you."
"Thank you." He placed the picture on his desk, the beautiful once couple smiling genuinely. Taking a deep breath, Itachi mentally prepared to spill everything out. "I can do this." He blinked and supported his hands on his desk. The reflection of the picture glimmering in his eyes.
Shikon no Tama Restaurant
Kagome had finished a very ugly argument with Inuyasha and the day didn't even end. Massaging her temples, the black haired woman, felt her heart in pain. She had to leave him with Mikoto. She still had to get her thoughts clean and together. "Come in." She said more to herself than to the person outside.
"Are you ok?" Miroko peeked. "Do you wanna talk?"
Kagome kept her head down, still massaging her temples. "I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
"This can all be solved. You just have to-!"
"Look." She looked at Miroko, a blank face disguising her pain. "I'm busy here. I don't want to talk about it and as you know, it's my life and i do whatever i want with it."
…..
"As i said earlier, i'm fine. Now, please leave." She motioned to the door. Not looking at him at all.
Sighing, Miroko turned around and closed the door. He knew it was for the best to leave her alone, maybe Sango will be able to put some sense into her. "You?" Miroku's surprise was no shock. "What are-?"
"Good. You're not busy." Kagome looked up, surprise and anger washing over her beautiful face. "Excuse me." He closed the door, in Miroku's puzzled face. "Hello."
"Get out." She got up, pointing to the door behind him. "Leave me now."
"Hm." His long black hair and onyx eyes were studying her. "Your anger is not directed at me, Kagome. I'm not him."
"Madara." She warned. "Get out."
"I came here to talk to you." He approached her desk, pulling the chair so he could sit down. "Tell me, why haven't you told anyone what happened?"
She glared at him. Her brown eyes shading with a tint of hatred and despise. She swallowed silently, squeezing her fists. "Why didn't you stop him?"
"If i did, he could have killed me."
"Bullshit." She spat, walking around the desk. "You're here for a reason. Since the day i married that jackass, you Uchihas' have done nothing more than antagonize me."
"Kagome." He crossed his arms, resting his right ankle on his left knee. "Itachi and I have some issues. Even if i wanted to do something i couldn't."
"Huh." Now was her time to cross her arms. "You let him do that to me, so you can…manipulate me, so can gain something from this." She pursed her lips and nodded. Watching as he tilted his head back, and smirked. "Want my help with something."
"Clever."
"I've been dealing with your type for so long. Whatever you want. I won't help you get it."
Madara raised his eyebrows and looked to the side, subtly covering his smirk with the back of his finger. "It would be a mutual alliance." He looked up at her, still with the smirk plastered on his mocking lips.
Kagome was glaring at him with disgust. How dare he? She leaned in, watching his eyes glow with amusement and anticipation. "No. Now, get out of my office."
Madara raised his hands, getting up. He was enjoying this more than he thought. "I can help you get total custody of Shiryu." He took a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it. A small puff of smoke leaving his mischievous lips. "No dirty games or foolery. We will both benefit from each other." He got closer, sending a suave gust of smoke towards her face. "I am not Itachi. I know how to get things done."
She stood silently looking at Madara. Her glare dissipating instantly. Her eyebrows showing concern and distrust. "So?" He took some steps back, his index finger and thumb, pressing the cigar. His eyes smirking at her. "Is that a yes? You can have Shiryu to yourself, and in return you only have to spare me something."
She swallowed dryly, staring deep in his eyes. "What?"
Itachi
As soon as he received her call, he didn't drive. He flew towards her house. Itachi pressed the elevators buttons but impatiently as he was, he took the stairs. A million thoughts ran through his mind. The guilty of his action overpowering him.
He stopped at her door, breathless. For a few moments, he stood still, looking down at his feet, hands shaking like hell. He took a deep breath, and pulled out of his pocket their family photo. He gulped down, and tucked the photo back in. His bangs covering his sight.
Squeezing his fist, Itachi raised his head and knocked weakly on the door. "Kagome?" He called.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Kagome?" He called again.
Receiving no answer, Itachi grabbed the handle and opened the door. The crack of the door, sending shivers to his spine. "Kagome?" He entered, only a small light coming from the hallway and the clock sound echoing through the house.
"Kag-!" He stopped dead on his tracks, a white sound taking over his hearing. Eyes wide open, Itachi coughed blood, his hand covering the bullet wound that pierced his abdomen. A second shot threw him off balance. He fell with a loud thud, coughing more blood as he raised his head and stared at his shooter. "Y-you-?"
Kagome stood still with her mouth open in horror. She started to shake her, her whole body frozen in place. "Shi-Shiryu? What have you done?"
A/N: Hey. Sorry for updating….four years later. It has been one hell of a journey for me. I was thinking on putting an alternate chapter but i decided to continue with this plot.
Sorry for being away for so long and giving you only this little. When i went to my Naruto stories, i forgot that i had some of them already written. Not a complete chapter but some stuff.
I'm currently now working on Become an Uchiha and my Geisha stories. I will update those soon.
Reminder: I am grateful for your reviews and for being here until today. As you have read, this Itachi is far away from the one we love so much. I decided to make him this way, not to be like the other ones. My own version of him. No. I do not tolerate this behavior and this is not that much of a dark fic but is not a "happy story" either. However, it is a mix.
