Chapter 10: Asheesta Attacks
I love falling asleep with Peter. His arm around my waist makes me feel comforted, loved and protected by him. Sometimes I don't always want to be the protector. I woke up when it was still dark outside, to a pulsing headache. I turned over expecting to find Peter but he had left.
Where had this headache come from? I didn't drink at all. I sat up and swung my legs over the bed as I reached for a dress to slip on. Suddenly the ache in my head turned into a voice.
'Amy...' Peter's voice!
I quickly grabbed my sword and noticed Peter had forgotten Rhindon so I grabbed that too. I ran out of his room and raced down the stairs. I could hear swords clashing and came to see Edmund fighting two guards and Peter on the ground under Asheesta's sword.
"Give me the barbarian Lady!" Asheesta cried.
"No!" Peter hissed, while struggling to get out from under the sword pointed at him.
"Hey!" I yelled, "You want me? Come get me!" Peter should not have to fight my battles for me.
He lunged at me with his scimitar, but having Rhindon plus my sword gave me the advantage. I parried and dodged all his attacks and stood in my ready position which was the same stance as Jadis in the Narnia movie. I had adopted her fighting stances.
"I have a question Asheesta." I stated.
He took a step back, "What is your question?"
"Why do you want me?" I asked.
"Because you are a treasure of the North and your beauty rivals that of Queen Susan and the Lady Mary." He replied with a huff.
"No, you want me because I am unreachable and taken." I replied circling him. "I am not yours, I am Peter's and his only, and no one will take me from here! Especially not you!" I lunged, managing to catch him off guard and ran my sword through his stomach.
"So go to hell." I spat in his face as I watched the life drain from his eyes like blood from his veins.
He fell to the ground in a heap and I turned to help Edmund with the guards and when I was finished with them I shouted, "I want every Calormen out of this castle by morning and if anyone comes near me in the next two hours I will kill them!" I ran to my room and threw the swords down on the floor. 'Amy?' I heard Peter, but I ignored him, and cut the connection. I fell on my bed crying, the anger still inside me. I sat up into lotus position and began meditating. I'll clean the swords later.
Awhile later I had gotten up to clean the swords and then went back to meditating when a knock at the door interrupted me. I sighed, "Come in."
Peter slid into my room with a blank look on his face. My brow rose and he shrugged. "It's been two hours." He stated and sat down behind me. I leaned back on him and sighed, closing my eyes.
'Peter I'm so sorry, I just got angry when I saw you were on the ground. Why didn't you bring your sword?' I felt better not disturbing the peacefulness of silence and spoke with thoughts.
'I was just on my way to get a snack. I wasn't going to bring my sword into the kitchen.' He replied. His hands moved up and down my arms making goose bumps form but it was soothing. 'I met Ed along the way, apparently we both had the same idea. Asheesta just attacked out of nowhere, saying over and over "I will have her", I didn't really understand what he meant. Until you came. Your fighting though, you looked like Jadis. It was scary how much you looked like her.'
I looked back at him. 'That's just my style, I have no want to be her, I just adopted her fighting style without knowing it.'
He nodded and kissed me lightly. 'Ed paled a bit when he noticed. He still has nightmares about her.'
'I know, he told me. Hopefully Mary can soothe the fears from him.' I replied.
'You scared me today.' He said and I turned to look at him again and saw his brilliant blue eyes misted over. He brushed some hair behind my ear. 'I thought I was going to lose you. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life.'
A wave of anguish washed over me and I almost cried with him. 'Shh Peter, I'm right here and, as you quite know, I'm not leaving anytime soon.' I responded and Peter swallowed.
'I just don't want to lose you to anyone.' Peter argued and hugged me close to him. I could feel how tense his muscles were and the constant fear rolling off him.
"Peter you are way too tense." I stated and he gave me a confused look. I turned my body around so I faced him and I pulled his tunic over his head and threw it on the floor. "Lay down on your stomach." I commanded.
He complied but not before giving me a weird look. I started to work on the tight muscles of his back, loosening them like a groom would massage a tense horse but with a lighter touch. His breathing slowed until I could tell he was asleep and I slowly stopped. I smiled at his serene peacefulness and lay down beside him, soon falling asleep.
