The tension grew as soon as those words left her lips, Sam could feel his own body tense and his blood run cold.
"You're a Winchester." She lets out a snarl, "What, did you lure me out here with my nephew so I could lure you back to my pack? You plan to kill us?!"
"No, no, nobody's killing anyone." He quickly replies as soon as he finds his words.
"Lair!" Her lip curls back, showing her fangs. Her eyes glowing unnaturally.
Cas steps in between them, holding his hands up in Sam's defense.
"Calm down, we're not here to hurt anyone." He tells her, "We just want to deliver your nephew and be on our way."
"Please," Sam pleads, making sure to hide his frustration in his voice. "I promise, this isn't a trick. I just want to get this done and over with so I can get back to my brother."
She lets out a snarl and turns her head away, turning her attention back to her nephew who was still asleep in the back seat of the car. A few moments after she turns back towards them, standing up straighter.
"Do I have your word, you won't hunt us down?" The Aswang asked, her eyes staring at them hard.
"If you can handle and keep Matthew from hurting others than I won't need to." He told her honestly, she stares at them for a few moments before getting into her car and buckling her seatbelt.
"I'll make sure he's on his best behavior," She mutters dryly, "You better not go back on your word, Winchester."
With that, she drove off.
"Sam," Cas speaks up, walking around to face the other. "Do you really think she'll keep him under control? We don't even know if she doesn't hurt people, her brother must have left for a reas-"
"Then they'll be another hunter's problem," Cas tilts his head in confusion so he continues. "Me and Dean are retiring, we've both already decided that after our daughter was born that we were calling it quits."
Sam motions for him to follow and makes his way back to the impala, settling back into his seat beside Charlie, who was still sitting quietly in the passenger seat.
"Are we heading back to the hospital?" Charlie asks as Cas got in the back.
"Yeah but first, we should probably stop by a restaurant and grab something for Dean to eat. The food there must be driving him insane."
~*~
"Relax Cas, you're not going to break her." Dean comments amusingly as Sam sets their daughter into his arms. The angel tenses, holding the child as if she were the most fragile thing on this earth.
"I-I don't think I should-"
"You're doing fine," Sam tells him as he returns to his seat beside his brother's hospital bed. "See? She's fine, you just gotta calm down."
Castiel looks down to the small pink bundle in his arms and let out a tense breath, Mary slept peacefully in his hold. The tension eases away and he settles back into his seat, a soft smile eases it's way onto his lips.
"Oh, she's so cute," Charlie fusses above Cas's shoulder, reaching down and touching the child's nose with a 'boop' for effect.
Sam feels himself smile then looks around the room, noticing that neither of the couple's belongings were there.
"Um hey, Dean?" He leans forwards a bit in his seat, "The grandparents, did they go home?"
"I think Margret got a call from that aunt you were talking about," He told him, scratching his head. "Told her that they would be able to visit Matthew every now and then."
"That's good that they'll still be able to see their grandchild." Charlie says, looking up from the newborn. To be honest, she was worried about them not being about to see him anymore. "I'm glad they worked something out."
Charlie comes around and sits in the chair besides Cas, stroking the newborn's head gently.
"So what are you guys going to do now?"
"Um, we were thinking about heading back to Bobby's and seeing if he'll let us stay there until we have everything figured out," Dean answers, "and to let him see Mary too."
"And it would be nice to see the grumpy old man again too," Sam adds, "I can't remember the last time, we've seen him. He must be expecting a visit soon, looks like he's in for a surprise."
Both brothers laugh.
"What about you Charlie?"
"I have a new lead on a case up in Ohio, I'll probably head that way." She answers, sitting up as she spoke, "Nothing really big for you guys to worry about though and I've got a friend to help me out with it."
"A friend?"
"Another hunter, kind of scrawny, dorky."
"Name's Garth?" Dean asks, which gets a surprised reaction from the red head.
"How did ya know?" Dean only shakes his head in reply and looks over to his daughter. He could wait for Bobby to meet her, she's going to be so spoiled. His little princess.
"So Cas, buddy." Dean says, getting the angels attention. "How about you, want to come along? It's been a while."
"I don't want to intruded." Castiel answers, "This is a special moment and I don't want to be in the way of your guy's family moment."
"You goofball, you are family." Sam replies, getting up to pat Cas's shoulder. "But really, if you have nothing to do, come along. We can all get dinner or something."
"Count me in on that," Charlie pipes up again. "Chinese sounds good."
"Ehh." Dean makes a face.
"You can't just eat burgers all the time."
"Watch me."
Sam watches them bicker back and forth for a bit as he sit back down in his chair beside Dean's bed, Mary in his arms and smiles to himself. He couldn't think of a happier moment than this.
