Willoffire123: We're back!
Folgore: You don't say?
Tia: Let's get this over with already.
Kanchome: WAIT!
Tia: For what?
Kanchome: The disclaimer!
Tia: Oh yeah! Willoffire123 doesn't own Zatch Bell.
Willoffire123: On with the chapter!
Megumi
"Now come on guys," said Laila. "The Stone of Moonlight is in the room just ahead."
Dr. Riddles, brave Dr. Riddles, stood, wiped away his tears, and put on his hat.
"Yes!" he said, striding towards the door. "Let us go and destroy the stone of moonlight! That's why we came here!"
"Yes," said Wonrei. "We mustn't let Kiddo's sacrifice be in vain."
"We have to free my friends," said Laila, squeezing Albert's hand.
"Someone knock Zatch and Kiyo out so we can carry them," ordered Mr. Sunbeam.
Wonrei did the honors, though it didn't seem to be necessary. After they burned Kiddo's book, both Zatch and Kiyo were less like enemies, and more like empty shells. Both crumpled to the ground. Wonrei slung Kiyo onto his back, Folgore doing the same with Zatch.
"Let's go!" said Laila.
"Wait!" said Megumi, suddenly weary. "Where did Penny and Byonko go?"
"After you told them off, it's'a hard to say," said Folgore.
"So Giaku!"
BOOM!
"I think we're about to find out," said Mr. Sunbeam. "Come on!"
They raced upstairs to find shattered remains of the stone of moonlight falling to the ground, Demolt in a daze, and Penny lying next to Uri, her book burning at a steady rate. All that remained of Byonko was the burn on Alvin's hand from his book.
"Penny!" cried Tia.
"Tia?" asked Penny, looking up. "Thank goodness you're here. We did it," she said with a small smile. "Byonko, and me, I mean. We destroyed the Stone of Moonlight."
"You did well, Penny," said Megumi, struggling to hold back tears.
"Tia, Kanchome, Ponygon, Wonrei, listen to me," said Penny, suddenly urgent. "I did so many horrible things, so I don't deserve any kindness. But won't you be Byonko's friend back in the mamodo world? Please play with him, he deserves it."
"Of course we will, Penny!" said Tia.
"Yeah," said Kanchome. "You and Byonko are already our friends!"
"Meru!" agreed Ponygon.
Penny smiled one last time. "I'm glad. Goodbye Uri, you were the bestest partner a mamodo could ask for. I'm sorry I didn't treat you better."
Uri clasped her hand. "That doesn't matter anymore. You did the right thing in the end, Penny, and I'm proud of you."
"I'm glad," said Penny, finally fading away for good.
"Penny…" said Megumi.
"We're not done yet, guys," said a very welcome voice from behind them.
Zatch and Kiyo were back on their feet. Zatch's eyes were glazed over, but thankfully not purple.
"Demolt hasn't been defeated yet," said Zatch in a monotone voice.
"He's right," said Laila, repeatedly slapping a now unconscious Albert. "I will join you once Albert has regained consciousness."
"Is'a he alright?" asked Folgore.
"He's fine," said Laila. "He just blacked out when he was released from Zophis' spell. But right now you should focus on Demolt's partner."
"His name is Roberto Vile," said Zatch. "He's a monster."
"Look," said Lien. "Is he saying something?"
Sure enough, Vile appeared to be muttering to himself. Megumi just managed to catch "yes, I still have that spell," then Vile read a spell that made their job so very much harder.
"Girgadom Barsuruk!"
Gold and green armor materialized on Demolt's head, arms and legs.
Damolt opened his giant maw, and roared.
"Um, we'll just go wait downstairs," Uri squeaked, he and Alvin fleeing down the crumbling staircase.
Megumi froze in fear. They were supposed to defeat that creature?
"How was this mamodo even allowed into the battle one thousand years ago?" demanded Tia. "He's too powerful!"
"They called him the Crazed Warrior Berserker," said Laila. "This is him at his true strength."
"Wait, what's he doing?" said Lien.
"He picked up Vile," said Mr. Sunbeam.
"And swallowed him," said Kanchome in horror.
Demolt roared again, now glowing with a devilish, purple aura, expanded his wings, and burst through the celling, reducing it to rubble. Then, he noticed them.
"I am Demolt, the Crazed Warrior Berserker!" he announced. "When did you get here?"
"The Seventh Spell!" cried Kiyo. "Zagurzem!"
Before Demolt could react, Zatch had shot a ball of pulsing orange and purple energy at him. The ball hit him squarely in the chest, causing the chest to glow and spark.
"It didn't do anything…"said Kanchome.
"No, my Zagurzem spell does do something," said Zatch, still in that eerie, monotonous voice. "While it doesn't do any damage on its own, it builds up the electrical current in my opponent's body. When I hit him with a real attack, the damage will be much greater."
"You look familiar," growled Demolt at Zatch. "Have we met?"
"You tortured me and Kiyo for hours on end," said Zatch. "But after going Berserk and releasing Zophis' control over you, I wouldn't expect you to remember that."
Demolt slammed his fist down on Zatch and Kiyo.
"Zatch! Kiyo!" cried Megumi. But when Demolt picked up his fist, they were gone.
"There!" pointed Tia. Zatch and Kiyo were falling to the ground right next to Demolt's fist.
"Zagurzem!" ordered Kiyo.
Again, the spell made contact, charging up Demolt's arm with electrical energy.
"Argh! What is that spell?" demanded Demolt.
"Not your concern," Zatch retorted.
"Gah!" Demolt roared, swatting Zatch and Kiyo out of the air like flies.
"Kiyo! Zatch!" screamed Tia.
"Go Reidoruk!"
In a flash, Wonrei was gone, reappearing beside them with Zatch under one arm, Kiyo under the other.
"Are you alright?" he asked them.
"I'll be fine," Zatch winced, dropping to his feet. "So will Kiyo. Ponygon and Wonrei, can you keep Demolt busy for a moment?"
"Of course," said Wonrei. "Let's go, Ponygon!"
"Meru meru mei!" said Ponygon.
"Go Shudoruk!"
"Go Reidoruk!"
"They're doing well, but we don't have much time. Everyone, listen closely. We need everyone to help us contain Demolt long enough for Kiyo to cast Zagurzem two more times. Then, we'll move in for the final blow."
"Bao Zakeruga?" asked Dr. Riddles.
"In our current state, Kiyo and I are too weak to cast our strongest spell," said Zatch. "But we have a few new tricks that will have to do."
"I know the feeling," said Laila, coming to join them.
"We just need to hold him down, right?" asked the now conscious Albert.
"Albert! You regained consciousness!" said Megumi.
"Yes, and now I can finally lend you my full strength," said Albert. "You ready, Laila?"
Laila activated her crescent moon wand. "I've been ready."
Albert grinned. "Let's go, Laila! Miberna Ma Migron!"
Laila's wand glowed a brilliant blue. Floating crescent moons, like those on Laila's wand, appeared all around Demolt.
"Argh!" howled Demolt, swatting at Ponygon and missing. "Why are there all these crescent moons?"
Megumi wondered the same thing. What was with the crescent moons?
She found out when Demolt send a punch their way.
"V, III, VII, X!" called Laila.
"Roll and fire!" ordered Albert.
Immediately, four of the crescent moons spun in front of Demolt's fist, and exploded, causing the Crazed Warrior Berserker to howl in pain, and halt his fist.
"Incredible," said Megumi. "They're controlling all those crescent moons?"
"Megumi, we have to move!" warned Tia, pulling Megumi out of the way of Demolt's massive foot just in time to avoid becoming a pancake.
"Th-th-this is dangerous," spluttered Kanchome.
"Really?" Tia snapped. "You don't say? You guys need to pay better attention."
"Tia's right," said Megumi, getting to her feet. "We should spread out. We're an easy target for Demolt if we're all in one place. Kanchome, try using your clones to help Wonrei and Ponygon and distract Demolt."
"O-okay, I'll try," said Kanchome.
"Dima Buruk!" said Folgore. Five copies of Kanchome materialized into existence, but when Kanchome ordered them to attack, all five of them ran to hide behind Folgore.
"What's wrong, mes bambini?" Folgore asked all the Kanchomes. "You were'a so brave earlier."
"Maybe it's because Kanchome's scared right now," called Tia.
"Tia could be right," said Megumi. "The clones probably reflect Kanchome's own emotions. When he stood up to Kiyo, he felt strong."
"Try and be brave, Kanchome!" ordered Folgore.
"Okay! I'll try!" said Kanchome, wiping away his tears. "Clones, attack Demolt!"
The clones pulsed with the same yellow aura from before, and charged, half going to back up Wonrei, the other half to Ponygon.
"Connect!" ordered Albert.
"Gah, I almost forgot!" said Megumi, refocusing her attention on Laila and Albert. A group of strategically placed crescent moons shot out pink beams of energy, entrapping Demolt in a pink, web-like net.
"Harvest!" cried Albert.
The moons twisted, and Demolt, the Crazed Warrior Berserker, fell on his back.
"She made him fall," said Megumi in amazement. "That little girl…"
"Now, Zatch!" said Laila.
Without anyone noticing, Zatch and Kiyo had somehow gotten behind Demolt's head.
"Zagurzem!" read Kiyo.
"And again," said Zatch.
"Zagurzem!"
Twice, the spell hit Demolt, making him positively saturated with electrical energy.
"NO!" roared Demolt. He punched Zatch and Kiyo again, sending them flying into the wall. Then, he spread his wings, and took off into the sky. "I refuse to be attacked again! I am the Crazed Warrior Berserker! You are insignificant flies!"
"Oh really?" said Wonrei. "Read, Lien!"
"With pleasure," said Lien. "Rao Diboren!"
Wonrei's giant tiger loomed over Demolt, swatting him back down to earth again.
"Now, Zatch!" called Mr. Sunbeam.
Ponygon came down above Demolt, Zatch standing on his back.
"The Ninth Spell!" said Kiyo, thankfully safe with Dr. Riddles. "Teozaker!"
"Everyone, get down!" shrieked Megumi, sensing disaster. Everyone hit the floor as Zatch unleashed a devastating attack of electricity, completely frying Demolt, and filling the air with electricity.
"Seioshi!" Megumi called, putting the last of her energy into protecting herself and Tia from Zatch's onslaught of lightning.
When Megumi looked up, Zatch and Kiyo stood blankly next to their prize: one, extra crispy, Crazed Warrior Berserker.
"Wonrei, care to do the honors?" Mr. Sunbeam said after a moment of stunned silence.
"I'm glad you asked," said Wonrei. "Lien?"
"Rao Diboren!"
Wonrei summoned his tiger once more, causing it to kick Demolt hard in the stomach.
Demolt wretched, coughing up Roberto Vile and his spellbook.
"Lien!" called Wonrei, sprinting after the book.
"Go Boren!" read Lien. Wonrei brought his glowing blue fist down on the book, causing it to spontaneously combust.
"NO!" was Demolt's last word before he returned to the Mamodo World for good.
"Get up, you no good, son-of-a-bitch!" Alvin ordered, banging Vile on the head until he awoke. "You're gonna pay for what you did to my frog!"
"Please, let me live!" Vile begged, scrambling away from them. "I'm never coming back here again!" he shrieked as he ran away.
"We did it!" sang Kanchome, leaping into Folgore's arms.
"We can't celebrate just yet," said Megumi.
"That's right," said Tia, waving a hand in front of Zatch's vacant face. "Not while these two are still like this."
"Meru!" said Ponygon, gazing fixatedly on a point in the distance.
"What is it, Ponygon?" asked Mr. Sunbeam, putting a hand on his mamodo's head. "Oh, I see. There's some sort of battle happening over there," he said, pointing at where Ponygon was looking.
"It's Sherry Bellmont," said Dr. Riddles. "She and Brago appear to have found Zophis, and are battling him now."
Megumi took another look at Kiyo. She could barely remember the kind, quiet genius she'd met that day she and Tia fought Maruss. Now, all she could see when she thought of Kiyo was either an evil, cruel monster, or this empty husk of a person she saw right now with blood trickling down his face from the now cracked dead stone of moonlight, still stuck in his skull.
"Then we have to join them," she announced. "For Kiyo and Zatch's sake."
"Right!" said everyone else.
"You better watch out, Zophis," said Megumi, full of determination. "We're coming for you."
Willoffire123: Whew! That's the fastest chapter I've done in a long time!
Megumi: You didn't rush through it though, did you?
Willoffire123: Of course not! Who do you think I am?
Tia: Until next time!
