Author note: This story takes place while Ash is in the Sinnoh Region.
"This is easy." Meowth whispered, digging through my bag.
"Wobbuffet!"
"Quiet." Growlithe stirred by Kyra. Growlithe yawned and his ears perked. Growlithe opened his eyes and stared at Meowth and Wobbuffet. He jumped up quickly.
"Growlithe. Growl."
"Oh hush." Meowth said. "Of course, I know this isn't my bag. That's the point." Growlithe nudged Kyra, but she just rolled over. Growlithe hurried over to Gary and nudged him.
"Kyra...control your Pokémon." Gary said, covering his face. Growlithe used Ember and this quickly got Gary's attention. "Kyra!" Gary said, jolting awake. That's when he noticed Meowth and Wobbuffet. Kyra rolled over, blinking the sleep from her eyes. "What are you two doing?" Kyra saw Meowth and Wobbuffet. She got up quickly.
"Wobba!" Gary bent down to grab a Pokéball, but they were gone.
"Looking for these?" Meowth laughed.
"Growlithe, quick attack!"
"You know what to do." Meowth said to Wobbuffet.
"Wobba!" Wobbuffet stepped forward and Growlithe hit Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet used Guard and Growlithe fell back.
"Growlithe!" Growlithe stood up, shaking his head.
"Where's Arianna." Gary wondered.
The haze started to lift. I looked at my Pokémon.
"Eevee, head back to camp." I said quickly. "Go." Eevee went to run.
"Cacnea, stop Eevee with Pin Missile." Cacnea went to attack.
"No!" I stepped in front of Eevee. The attack hit me instead.
"Vulpix!"
"Squirtle!"
"Pree!"
"I'm fine. Go Eevee!"
"Pree..." Eevee hesitated, but started to go.
"Seviper, bind on Eevee."
"No!" I stepped in front of Eevee again. Eevee hurried off. Seviper had me in a tight bind.
"Vul! Vulpix Vul!"
"Squirtle Squirt!" Vulpix used Flamethrower and Squirtle used Hydro Pump on Seviper. Seviper let go of me. Squirtle and Vulpix hurried over to me.
"Vul!" Vulpix cried, jumping into my arms.
"I'm ok." I said, catching my breath. I stood up. "Let's do this." Vulpix jumped out of my arms and stood next to Squirtle.
"Kyra. Do something!"
"I'm trying!"
"Well try harder!"
"Growlithe, Flamethrower!" Growlithe got into stance and used Flamethrower. Wobbuffet used guard, deflecting the attack.
"Kyra, we need a new plan."
"Yeah, I know." Eevee suddenly came hurrying out of the bushes and hit Meowth straight into the back. Meowth's bag went flying and all the Pokéballs fell out. Eevee quickly went over to three Pokéballs and nudged them open. Pidgeot, Chikorita and Ponyta popped out.
"Pree. Pree pree!" Pidgeot flew up and away, back towards where Eevee emerged from. Kyra and Gary grabbed their Pokéballs.
"Uh-oh." Meowth said.
"Electivire." Gary called. "Thunder punch!" Electivire hit Meowth, who fell back into Wobbuffet and they flew away from the campsite.
"Where did Pidgeot fly off to?"
"Squirtle withdraw. Vulpix dodge!" I said quickly. "Squirtle, Hydro Pump. Vulpix, Flamethrower."
"Cacnea dodge and attack with Pin Missile."
"Seviper, dodge." As Cacnea attacked, Pidgeot came swooping down, countering the attack with gust.
"Pidgeot." I smiled. My Pokémon and I were tired. Team rocket chose a good time to try this. Everyone regrouped as Meowth and Wobbuffet landed in.
"Meowth!" Jesse exclaimed. "What are you doing?" I smiled. Eevee was going to get a special treat tonight. All my Pokémon deserved a special treat tonight.
"Pidgeot, gust. Squirtle, Aqua Tail, Vulpix, Flamethrower. Send them flying." Pidgeot, Squirtle and Vulpix attacked.
"We were so close." Jesse cried.
"Team Rockets blasted off again!"
"Wobbuffet!" I sighed and smiled at my Pokémon. Vulpix and Squirtle jumped into my arms, both exhausted from their battle and needed comfort after I stepped in front of Pokémon attacks. Pidgeot rubbed his head against my arm and I patted him on the head.
"I'm ok." I told Pidgeot. "Let's head back to game. We all deserve some sleep."
We got back to camp where i was greeted by Chikorita, Eevee and Ponyta. Eevee was first.
"Pree!" Eevee cried, trying to jump into my arms, where Squirtle and Vulpix were sleeping. I carefully set Squirtle and Vulpix next to my sleeping bag and picked up Eevee. I petted Ponyta and Chikorita.
"Everything ok?" Gary asked. I nodded.
"I just gave Eevee a scare tonight." I said. "She's still my little baby."
"Where did you go?" Kyra asked.
"Vulpix heard noises and I followed her."
"Team Rocket?" Gary asked.
"Yep." I called Ponyta and Chikorita back to their balls. I tried to call Pidgeot back, but he refused. "Do you want to stay out and guard camp?" Pidgeot nodded. "Ok."
"Electivire is as well." Gary said, climbing into his sleeping bag. "And with that, goodnight."
"Night." Kyra said, climbing back into her sleeping bag. Pidgeot got comfortable nearby with Electivire. I climbed into my sleeping bag. Squirtle and Vulpix both adjusted themselves closer to me, still fast asleep. Eevee snuggled as close as possible before the two of us finally fell asleep.
"Up and um Kyra!" I said, as I was preparing breakfast. I already had my stuff packed away and Gary was working on his. Pidgeot and Electivire were fed the moment I woke, giving Pidgeot an extra Pokéblock for last night with his meal. Now, Electivire and Pidgeot were back in their Pokéballs, hopefully sound asleep.
"Ugh...what time is it...?" Kyra mumbled.
"Time to get up." I replied.
"The sun is barely out." Kyra mumbled, still half asleep.
"It's early, yes, but we have a long day ahead of us." I explained. "Besides, breakfast is almost ready." Kyra said nothing. "Squirtle. Give Kyra a little wake up call."
"Squirtle Squirt!" Squirtle said, hitting Kyra with water. Kyra jolted awake.
"Arianna!"
"We're not playing games Kyra. When It's time to get up, it's time to get up." I told her matter-of-factly. "Besides, we can get to Bloomingvale and do a bit of shopping. I stirred the oatmeal. "I promised Ponyta I would look for some apples anyway."
"We are actually stopping?" Kyra asked in shock.
"When Arianna says she's going to do something for her Pokémon, she does it." Gary explained.
"Her Pokémon?"
"They are her babies."
"Really Arianna?" Kyra asked, looking my direction.
"Nothing wrong with that." I stated. "Now pack up. We are eating and heading out."
Once Kyra packed, we ate, cleaned up and were on our way. We were already halfway to Bloomingvale, so it wasn't going to take too long. We planned on staying in Bloomingvale until lunch, where we would head off towards Azalea Town and then Ilex Forest. Kyra spent most of her time looking through shops, with Gary and I having to drag her away. I bought apples for Ponyta and was ready to continue on this journey. However, Gary made sure we stayed till lunch.
"Wow, look at all the Sunflora." Kyra said from her spot at the table.
"Bloomingvale is known for their Sunflora." Gary explained, leaning back in his chair as he finished eating. "Every year, this town holds a Sunflora festival. Everyone in town owns a Sunflora and everyone participates in the festival."
"So cool." Kyra said, finishing her food. I finished eating, and so did our Pokémon.
"We should get ready to head out." I said, standing up. "We still have a ways to go before getting to Ilex Forest."
"But we just got here."
"You can stay or you can come with us. Either way, I'm leaving." I told Kyra, getting to my feet. I slung my bag over my shoulders and called back Chikorita, Pidgeot, Vulpix, Ponyta and Eevee. Squirtle climbed on my shoulder. Gary called his Pokémon back and got ready to go as well.
"Where are we heading next?" Gary asked as Kyra called her Pokémon back.
"Azalea Town is next." I told Gary. "When are you heading back to Sinnoh?"
"I'll part ways in Azalea Town." Gary said. "Let's get moving." Gary and I started to leave. Kyra hurried after us.
We made it half way to Azalea Town before we had to stop for the night. We ate in silence. Everyone cleaned up before heading to bed. I laid in my sleeping bag, starring at the starry night sky while listening to the gentle snores of Eevee, Vulpix and Squirtle. I glanced over at Pidgeot, who stayed out of his Pokéball and had taken roost in a tree to be look out during the night. I slowly moved my way around my Pokémon and made my way out of my sleeping bag. I walked over toward the tree where Pidgeot was perched. Pidgeot dropped down from the tree. I rubbed Pidgeot's head. My mind had wandered tonight. I was thinking of my dad. Back when I was traveling and earning badge for the Indigo League, I would report in as frequently as I could. I sat near the tree, starring back into the night sky. Pidgeot stayed next to me.
~~~Flashback~~~
"Hello?" Jasen Hartford said before his face popped on screen.
"Hi Dad!" I said, with a big smile.
"Arianna! How are you? How are your Pokémon? What's new? Tell me everything!" I laughed.
"We are all doing well!" I told him. I loved checking in with my dad. He was always so eager to hear about my adventure and my biggest support. "I'm in Fuchsia City. I just received my 7th badge from Koga, who says Hi by the way. One more to go, and it's off to the Indigo Plateau."
"That's great Arianna! I'm so proud of you!" I looked down, hiding the fact that I was blushing. "Arianna, you make me so proud."
"I know." I told him, looking back at him.
"So, any new changes to the team?" Jasen asked. "Did Squirtle evolve yet?" Squirtle jumped up onto my shoulder. I laughed.
"No, as you can see, he has not." I told him. "There is a small change on my team." I smiled before holding up a new Pokémon.
"Vul!"
"A Vulpix?" Jasen said, looking surprised. "That's great!"
"And Cubone evolved into Marowak."
"So, who is all on your team?"
"Squirtle, Vulpix, Pidgeotto, Marowak, Nidarina and Butterfree."
"So, where are you heading next?"
"I'm going to head toward Saffron, I'm not sure if I want to fight Sabrina or just find another gym."
"You don't want to challenge the Saffron City Gym Leader?" Jasen asked, confused. "Why not?"
"I haven't decided. I have heard rumors not to Challege the Gym Leader, but then I have heard rumors that she has changed, so...I'll decide once I get there."
"Well, the Saffron City Gym Leader has Psychic Pokémon, so think hard about your battle strategy. Train hard."
"Always do." I smiled. Jasen looked at the time.
"Oh my! Look at the time. I have some Pokémon I have to tend to. Report back to me soon, ok?"
"Don't worry Dad. I always report back. Talk to you soon." I hung up the phone and looked at Squirtle. "It's time to find something to eat."

I wiped tears from my eyes and brought my knees up. Pidgeot press closer to me. I leaned closer to Pidgeot before falling asleep.
Squirtle woke up first. He came out of his shell and stretched. He looked around.
"Squirtle?" This woke Eevee and Vulpix. Squirtle continue to look around. "Squirtle!" Squirtle called. This woke Gary.
"Arianna..." Gary blinked his eyes as he noticed my sleeping bag was empty. Gary jumped up. Eevee and Vulpix were sniffing around.
"Pree. Pree."
"Vulpix vul."
"Squirtle." Squirtle, Vulpix and Eevee hurried over towards Pidgeot with Gary following behind. Squirtle, Eevee and Vulpix stopped when they saw me, curled up and slightly hidden by Pidgeot. "Squirtle!" Squirtle said, jumping up. Eevee went and nudged my arm.
"Mhm..." I mumbled, still sleeping. Gary bent down.
"Hey Arianna. Wake up."
"Squirtle!" Squirtle shot water at me and Pidgeot and we jolted awake.
"What the!" I said as Pidgeot shook his wings dry.
"Squirtle!"
"Vulpix!"
"Pree!" The three Pokémon jumped in my arms.
"What's going on?" I asked, still dazed from sleep. I looked at Gary.
"My guess is that your Pokémon couldn't find you when they woke up and were worried." Gary said. "I mean, I couldn't see you either, so I was worried as well." I looked at Squirtle, Eevee and Vulpix.
"Sorry." I told them. "I guess i just fell asleep while thinking. I'm ok." I set my Pokémon down then looked at Gary. "Sorry to worry you. Let's fix breakfast and be on our way."
