Hello again! Just a reminder that we would love to hear from you! Thanks for reading, The Wicked Witches

Elphaba turned at her name, still not moving from her spot.

"Oh Oz I'm so sorry Elphie" She said, struggling to push herself into a sitting position.

Elphaba then moved, gently but quickly moving to rest on her knees next to the bed.

"Shhh, lay down, you need your rest."

"But I called you those horrible things. I'm so sorry. I was scared, I'm sorry" She said, still trying to sit up. Eventually she flopped back into the pillow.

"You can't send me back to Oz" She said, staring into her brown eyes.

"I know you're scared, no hard feelings." She said as she readjusted the covers over the blonde.

"And you have to leave, I have to destroy this Witch and I don want you around if she happens to save herself again somehow." She thought for a moment. "What was it you were saying earlier? You were counting to something,"

Glinda started to protest but then froze upon hearing the question.

"One severed head" She muttered in horror, before she quickly shook herself out of it.

"Its…no…nothing"

"It's something and it's scaring you, what is it Glinda it may be a clue as to how to stop her?" Elphaba set on the bed next to Glinda's hip.

"Its a song she sings" She whispered, "Its a count down to the hunt, a count down until she does something to hurt me"

Elphaba felt her stomach roll at the thought.

"I need to know what she says, I'm sorry but only you remember what she says."

She didn't want to sing the song. But she knew she had to.

"She counts to ten." She murmured, grabbing hold of Elphaba's hand for support.

Slowly she began to sing the song, her stomach contracting at the memories it brought back.

"One severed head, two burned bodies, three torn faces " She gasped, gripping her hand tightly.

"Four buried lies, five lovers die" She hissed, starting to rock back and forwards.

"Six murders look, seven deadly books" She cried

Elphaba held her hand and moved to hold her in a tight hug when she started to cry.

"I'm so sorry Glinda," She whispered as she thought over the words. They sounded nonsense but Elphaba knew there had to be a reason behind them.

One severed head – leader of Oz Elphaba thought, it made sense. Two burned bodies? What were those?

"What do you think they mean?" Elphaba assumed the blonde had only ever heard up to seven before she had run out of ear shot.

"I don't know" She said, not wanting to think about the rhyme.

"I didn't hear the rest, I always ran away. I nearly didn't last time" She cried into Elphaba's shoulder.

"I was going to let her kill me"

Elphaba froze at the words.

"What?" she said as she breathed out softly feeling as if Glinda had just stabbed her in the gut, no this feeling was far worse. She didn't want to think about waking from the Witch to find Glinda's corpse.

"I was trying to save you" She stuttered, regretting the confession immediately.

"I was trying to do an exchange. I said she could kill me in any way she wanted, and I wouldn't stop her. If she let you go when she was done."

Elphaba gently cupped Glinda's jaw in her hands as she looked into her eyes.

"Do not ever do that again, you get out even if it means killing me." Elphaba shook thinking that Glinda had offered her life so carelessly!

"You're life is far more valuable then mine, Oz needs you!" Elphaba's mind spun now as she quickly thought of a way to get Glinda back to the Emerald City.

"No it doesn't. You need me!" she said, staring back into those brown eyes.

"I won't ever kill you. And I'm not going back to Oz whilst you are in danger."

"I'm not in danger, you are," Elphaba begged her to see reason.

"She needs me alive, that's evident by the fact that she wouldn't let me die, it's you who is in harms way here."

"She's never going to let you out again if I go" She said firmly.

"She will just take over and then she will come and try to attack Oz. Then what will you do, unable to escape her and help? She'll just kill me then, she had to I'm Throne Minster. So I might as well stay and let it happen here." She said.

"I'm not leaving"

"Not yet, you need rest," Elphaba pulled back and tucked the covers back around Glinda.

"I will not be leaving" She insisted, yawning.

"Not yet," Elphaba said gently again. "You rest now,"

"Don't go near that fucking book" She mumbled, rolling over to press her head into the pillow, her eyes fluttering closed.

"I won't." Elphaba whispered as Glinda appeared to fall asleep. Good she needs her rest.Once she was sure she was sleep she grabbed a notebook and started to write down what Glinda had said the witch sang.
