A/N: Surprise! I haven't updated this story in a while and it simply was because I had hit a block when it came to this plot. Luckily, I had a break through and I spent a whole night typing this chapter. It was insane how much I had typed in such a short amount of time. Let's just say, the chapters for this story are going to start rolling out. Enjoy!
When I woke up, it was to my alarm which my mom probably set. I got up and stretched before placing a hand over my necklace. I couldn't wait to get to school to see James. I got in the shower and as I got dressed, I found myself really paying attention to what I was wearing. I don't know why but after this weekend, I feel like I should present myself better. That probably sounds stupid but I want James to be surprised when he sees me. I made sure that my outfit didn't look like my normal sweater wear but it didn't stray too far from what I usually wear. I found a cute teal cheetah button up in the back of my closet and put it on. I put on some black jeans and black oxfords with teal soles. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and fixed my hair. I stopped right before I left the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked damn good for something I put together on the spot. I rolled up the sleeves a little before I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.
"Logan, you look amazing." Briana said when she saw me and everyone agreed with her, making me blush slightly.
"Thanks guys, eat up before we head out." I told them before my mother walked into the kitchen.
"Who are you and what have you done with my sweater wearing Logan?"
"Oh ha-ha." I said, grabbing a cereal bar out of the cabinet.
"Who are you getting so fancy for?" Caroline asked.
"Isn't it obvious? He's getting all fancy for James." Tyler said and I glared at him.
"Caroline, to answer your question, I just felt like dressing fancy today. It's good to do things like this for yourself and not just for someone else." Tyler rolled his eyes at me before there was a knock at the door.
"I'll get it." Eric said, climbing out of his chair and running to the door. From where I was standing, I could see him open the door and he smiled. He took a step back and a smile quickly came to my face when I saw that it was James. I ran over to him and practically jumped into his arms. He squeezed me so tight and I loved every second of it.
"I missed you." He told me after we broke our hug.
"I missed you too." I said, giving him a kiss. It only lasted for a second but it was because he took a step back.
"Now, when did you start dressing like this?"
"I just…I wanted to dress nicer today." I said, blushing as he smiled at me.
"Well, you look gorgeous." He said, giving me another kiss before we headed into the kitchen. "Good morning everyone."
"Good morning, James." Everyone said in unison and it sounded very creepy before everyone burst into laughter. James gave my mother a hug and I knew she wasn't expecting it by the way she smiled.
"How was you guys weekend?" James asked before he had multiple responses thrown at him. All of them seemed to be relatively good until Briana said that hers was boring.
"Why was it boring?" James asked her and she looked down before she looked over at me.
"Because Logan wasn't here."
"Aww, I'm sorry. Logan was spending time with me."
"Can't you guys spend time here?" Briana asked him.
"Of course we can." James said, making her smile. It was so weird how easily everyone grew to like James and how he just immediately fit in with the rest of us. I guess he is truly my soul mate.
As I walked down the hallway, I headed to where I knew James would be in the middle of class. I opened the bathroom door and heard the sound of someone typing on their phone in a stall. I walked over and peeked in, praying I wasn't peeking in on someone. I sighed when I say James sitting on the back of the toilet with his feet on the lid.
"James." I said, hitting the door. He let out a shriek before he climbed off of the toilet.
"Logan, you almost gave me a heart attack."
"Why are you in here and not in class?" I asked him as he opened the stall door.
"Because that class was boring and I already know everything they're going over."
"How do you know?"
"Logan, its Hitler."
"Oh." I said and he smirked. "Well, you still shouldn't be skipping class."
"I know but I was bored out of my mind. At least, I stayed in the building."
"You're such a bad influence on me." I told him, going over to the sink. I smiled at myself in the mirror as I looked at my outfit. I look pretty damn good, even in these horrible ass school lighting.
"So why are you in here?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I actually came to use the bathroom." I said, turning out of his arms and walking into a stall. Once I was done, I walked out and washed my hands, blushing as he stared at me.
"What?"
"I just can't believe how lucky I am."
"You're so cliché. It's making me sick." I told him before I headed towards the door.
"Where are you going?" He asked and I looked at him like he was crazy.
"To class, duh. You should go to." I suggested before I walked out. I heard the sound of the door opening again and I knew it was him, especially when he intertwined our hands.
"I'll walk you back to class."
"You're procrastinating."
"So."
"James, go to class."
"Logan, I-"
"James."
"Okay, fine." He said, turning away from me. When he didn't move, I gently nudged him and he took a step forward.
"James, if you don't-"
"Give me a kiss." I rolled my eyes at him when he turned around and said that. He leaned down and kissed me before he tried to reach under my shirt. I grabbed his hands and moved them away from me as he smirked, breaking our kiss. I turned him around and nudged him down the hall. I turned the opposite direction and started walking to class.
"I don't know boys, I say we break it." I heard a familiar voice say.
"No, please don't. That guitar is very expensive a- NO PLEASE!" I looked around a corner to see Jett and his crew messing with some guy.
"Hey!" I yelled right before one of his guys were about to break the other guy's guitar.
"What do you want? I'm kind of busy."
"Leave him alone."
"Wait a minute, are you here alone?"
"Jett, this is the 21st century, why are you still bullying people?"
"I'm not a bully, I'm just maintaining balance. A balance you fucked up. Now we've got people like him here, trying to stand up to us."
"So you don't think you're being a bully?"
"Logan, shut the fuck up and keep walking."
"No, you're going to give him back his guitar and you're going to go back to doing whatever you were doing before this." Jett walked towards me and reached for my shirt. I pushed him back and his eyes widened at that.
"Oh, Logan's got himself a backbone. I'm going to have so much fun breaking it." He said glaring before he swung forward. I knew James was right there behind me because the second Jett said that, I heard him growl. James grabbed Jett's hand before it could hit me and bent it back. Jett's eyes widened in shock as his crew started coming towards us.
"Tell your boys to back off or I'm breaking every bone in your arm." James told Jett, who quickly called them off.
"Give him back his guitar." I told one of them and James nodded before one of James' guys dropped it. The guy dropped to the floor to catch the guitar before it could hit the ground.
"Now, get out of here." James said, pushing Jett away. I watched Jett clutch his arm as he backed up, glaring at us. Once Jett was gone, I turned to James.
"You know, I was handling that."
"Yeah and him trying to punch you?"
"Okay, thank you for the help but still."
"I think I should be rewarded." I rolled my eyes at him before I gave him a quick kiss.
"Now, I'll go to class if you promise not to be a hero again."
"You're telling me you wouldn't have done that?" I asked him and he sighed. I turned to the guy we helped and he was still on the ground holding his guitar.
"Thank you." He said, looking up at me when I placed a hand on his shoulder.
"No problem. I hope they didn't break it."
"No, it's fine."
"Good."
"Hey, I've never seen you around here. What's your name?" James asked him.
"John but some people call me Guitar Dude." He said, standing up.
"He's also been here for a while." I told James and he shrugged in response.
"I've never seen him."
"I usually avoid you because you're a little intimidating."
"What?" James asked in slight shock.
"Well, he isn't wrong." I said, smiling at how James looked like this was brand new information.
"I'm approachable." James said, mostly telling himself.
"Right, well, I'm Logan and I guess you already know James."
"I already know both of you, especially after what happened in the cafeteria Friday."
"Oh." I said, turning to look at James.
"It looks good on him, the black eye I mean." Guitar Dude said and we both laughed at that. James leaned against the wall and I shook my head at him.
"What?"
"You still need to go to class."
"Logan, class is practically over. I can just-"
"No, James. Go." I said, turning him around and pushing him again.
"Alright, alright." He said before he walked around the corner. I turned to see Guitar Dude smiling at me.
"What?"
"You two complement each other so well. It's a nice thing to see since almost everyone in this school is the same."
"Thank you. Oh, and if Jett is still bothering you, you can come sit with us at lunch." He nodded before he headed to wherever he was going. My phone vibrated and I saw that it was James texting me.
"Why did you invite him to our table?"
"Because I'm being nice. Go to class." I texted back.
"I am in class. Heightened senses." He responded and I rolled my eyes before going to class myself.
When it was time for lunch, James picked was at the door to my class room waiting for me. "Want a piggy back ride?"
"What?" I said, thinking he said something else.
"Do you want a piggy back ride?"
"To the cafeteria?"
"No, to Spain."
"Oh, ha ha, you're so fun- oh my god!" I screamed when James put me on his back. I don't know how he did it but it scared the crap out of me. I immediately held onto him as he caught my bag when it started sliding. Of course people turned and looked at us as James walked through the halls but they did that regardless. I ducked under the doorway as James walked into the cafeteria and people turned to look at us.
"Everyone's staring."
"Good." He whispered back to me and I couldn't help but smile. He never seems to care about what anyone thinks and it's just another reason why we're perfect mates. James let me down before asking me if I wanted anything to eat. As he went to go get me something to eat, I saw John heading this way without his guitar. I stood up and he shook his head.
"What happened to your guitar?"
"A teacher confiscated it. I can get it back at the end of the day."
"Oh." I said as he sat down.
"Yeah, someone strummed it while it was next to me and the teacher thought it was me."
"Do you know who it was?"
"I think it was one of Jett's friends but I'd rather have that then them trying to break it."
"Do you want us to-"
"No, I appreciate the help but I don't want you to think I'm this defenseless bunny."
"I don't think that at all. But I've been in your position."
"I don't think you were ever in my position. You've always stood up to them. I've just now recently stood up to them and that almost ended badly."
"Trust me, I've been there and no one was there to stop them from beating me."
"Are you saying Jett an-"
"No, it was before high school. But my point is, you don't have to stand up against them alone."
"That's so nice of you." When James came back, he sat my food in front of me before pulling up a chair next to me.
"Isn't he the sweetest?" James said, wrapping an arm around me. I smiled at him and as he started eating. I knew he was trying to be sarcastic but he was so bad at it that it didn't sound even remotely close. As we ate lunch, Guitar Dude and I talked about different things like our favorite types of music and movies. James was in the middle of eating when he just stopped. He gripped the table and I grabbed his arm.
"James? What's wrong?" He leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"Someone's in trouble. I need you to stay here."
"What?"
"I think Jack and Finn are in trouble, I have to go help them."
"Why do I need to stay here?"
"Because I don't want you to get hurt."
"I can protect myself."
"Logan just stay here for me."
"Fine." I whispered before I sat back in my chair. He gave me a kiss on the cheek before he got up and left the cafeteria.
"Where's he going?"
"He has to go take care of something." I told Guitar Dude and I could tell how that answer didn't really sit well with him.
"He has to take care of some work related stuff he won't tell me about."
"Oh."
"So, what songs do you know on your guitar?"
"I know a few songs, mostly the ones that people like to request."
"Why's that?"
"I perform some songs as community service in an old folk's home."
"Aww that's sweet."
"Yeah, it's fun, you and James should come past some time. They tell impeccable stories about their lives."
"I'll see if James wants to go."
"Cool and I usually go there on the weekends." The bell ended our conversation and we both headed to our respective classes. A few people were looking at me and then looking past me in the hallways as I walked by myself. Was it really that obvious that James wasn't with me? Ugh, everyone's so damn nosy. As I did my classwork, I felt a little tense out of nowhere. I don't know where it was coming from. I turned to the window to see James standing slightly behind some trees, shirtless. I raised my hand and asked to go to the bathroom. Once I was excused, I rushed to the bathroom and ran to the window, opening it to see James standing there.
"Holy shit! You scared the shit out of me."
"Sorry."
"Why do I feel so tense?"
"It's because of me, sorry." He said, placing a hand on mine. He was a little further down so he had to reach up to the window sill. The tense feeling slowly faded away before I got a little concern seeing a scratch on James' arm.
"What happened?" I asked running my fingers over it. He winced and I pulled my hand back quickly apologizing.
"It's just a scratch but it burns like hell."
"What happened?" I asked again.
"One of the twins scratched me after something happened to him."
"Which was?"
"We aren't sure and he couldn't explain besides that he was shot but we're going to get some help a little ways away."
"He was shot?"
"Yeah but he should be fine."
"You aren't sure are you?" I asked him, getting the feeling like the time he lied to me and I saw right through it. I guess it must be the imprinting thing. Which explains the tense feeling as well.
"No but we have some emergency precautions just in case our first plan doesn't work. Don't worry about it. I came here to tell you that we won't be able to go back to my house and I won't be able to walk you home."
"What? Why?"
"The help is a distance away and I won't make it back until its dark."
"Why can't I come with you?"
"It's dangerous."
"James." I said, sighing, knowing he wasn't going to change his mind on this.
"I'm sorry, I love you."
"I love you too." I said as he kissed my hand before turning and heading back through the trees. I could see that one of the twins were standing there waiting for James with a concerned look on his face. I closed the window and walked back to class. I didn't really finish my classwork like I wanted to because I was thinking about what could've happened to one of the twins. When school was let out, I grabbed the things I needed for my homework and left the building, maneuvering through my extremely talkative and slightly annoying peers.
"Hey! Logan, wait up!" Guitar Dude said, moving through everyone with his guitar in hand.
"Where you headed?" He asked once he reached me.
"Home?"
"Right, right that was a dumb question. I don't want to sound desperate but you're the first person who's been really nice to me so…we're friends right?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Do you want to hang out at my place?"
"I really would like to but I-uh have to be home."
"Oh, right."
"How about we hang out at my place?" I asked when he looked sad about me not being able to hang out with him at his house. I couldn't tell him that James told me to go straight home because that would sound a little controlling.
"Sure, that sounds cool." He said before we started walking in the direction of my house.
"I have to warn you though. I have brothers and sisters and it might be a little overwhelming at first. They also ask a lot of questions, sometimes all at once."
"I mean, that's what they do."
"Do you have any siblings?"
"I used to but he-uh-"
"Say no more, I understand."
"Are they older or younger?"
"They're all younger which is probably why they ask so many questions, so just...be prepared."
"It can't be that bad. I'm sure they loved James."
"Yeah, they did actually. Well after the whole I'm gay understanding, then it was embarrass me in front of my boyfriend time."
"Wait, you came out and introduced your boyfriend at the same time? You weren't terrified?"
"Well, the only people who didn't know I'm gay was my mom's boyfriend and a few of my siblings."
"Oh, so I take it everyone's accepting?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
"That's awesome."
Once we reached my house, I unlocked the door and walked in with Guitar Dude behind me. "Anyone home?" I called out before I heard shuffling coming from upstairs. I gestured for Guitar Dude to sit down on the couch in the living room before I walked up the stairs. When I got to the top of the stairs, my mom's bedroom door opened and she was standing there in a robe, the same color as her face, red. I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Logan, what are you doing home?"
"I live here and school is over."
"You aren't spending time with James?"
"No, he has something that he has to do."
"Well, I-"
"I don't even want to know what's going on. I-"
"We're not having sex. I promise."
"OH GOD! Mom, please. Stop."
"I guess that's my cue." Michael said, coming out of the room.
"Dude!" I said, covering my eyes when I saw his pants were undone.
"Shit, sorry."
"I was just going to say that everyone's going to be home soon and unless you want to subject them to this, then I suggest you-you know."
"Right." My mom said, turning back to go into her room.
"I-uh-need to go." Michael said, fixing his clothes.
"Now?"
"I don't want the kids to see me like this. I hope you can understand."
"Yeah." My mom said, sighing.
"Thanks. I'll call you later." He said, kissing her on the cheek before he walked pass me. My mom just sighed, laying her head on the door frame.
"Can you change into some regular clothes?" I suggested pointing to her fishnet stocking covering her feet. She gasped and went into her room, closing the door. I walked back downstairs to see Guitar Dude looking out the window behind the couch. I waited for him to notice me and when he looked a little taken aback.
"Who was that?" He asked me.
"My mom's boyfriend, Michael."
"Oh." He said, looking down at his guitar.
"Is something wrong? Did he say something to you?"
"No, he didn't even see me. I was just thinking I should probably call my mom and let her know where I am."
"You want to use the phone?"
"Huh, no, I have my cell."
"Right." I said, sitting on the couch. Guitar Dude pulled out his phone and called his mother. They talked back and forth before I could hear conversations from familiar voices. I looked through the curtains to see Jasmine and George in an intense conversation about something while everyone just looked annoyed with them.
I opened the door for them and they all filed in. Jasmine and George continued what was now arguing as they walked into the kitchen. I hugged Briana as Caroline joined in their argument. Tyler walked right pass me and headed upstairs without a word. I figured he had a bad day. I'll just give him his space. Sarah and Eric were having a small conversation with Kevin about something made out of paper in Eric's hand.
"Who are you?" Briana asked Guitar Dude as I closed the door. Everyone got quiet and moved back into the foyer to look into the living room to see who Briana was talking to. Guitar Dude hung up his phone and smiled at them.
"Guys, this is my friend John." I said, squeezing through them so that I was in front of them.
"You can call me Guitar Dude if you want."
"Guitar Dude, this is Briana, Sarah, Eric, Kevin, Jasmine, George, Caroline, and Tyler went upstairs." I said as they all waved to him as I said each of their names.
"It's nice to meet you all." Guitar Dude said before everyone returned to what they were doing before. I heard footsteps coming from the steps.
"Mommy!"
"Hey!" My mom said, hugging Briana. "How was your day?"
"It was good. I got a gold star today."
"That's great, sweetie. Go ahead and get started on your homework." "Okay." Briana said, skipping into the kitchen. My mom turned and saw Guitar Dude sitting on the couch. "Oh, hello." "Mom, this is my friend, John." "Nice to meet you ma'am." "Same here. Where's James?" "He had to take care of some work stuff."
James POV
As we laid out Jack on the doctor's table, he winced in pain. Finn stood by looking worried and every time his brother winced he did too.
"The bullet isn't the problem here." Dr. Wainwright said.
"Kelly, can you save him?"
"Yes but it's going to hurt like hell." I nodded as Camille held Jack's hand.
"And since you two are twins, you will feel it too." Kelly added, turning to Finn. Finn nodded before moving next to his brother.
"It'll be like the first time we shifted." He told his brother, who smiled before he winced again as Kelly touched the wound.
"You said the bullet isn't the problem, what is?"
"The Wolfsbane."
"Wolfsbane?" Camille asked and I sighed. I knew what was going to happen.
"Wolfsbane is a poison to your kind. Hunters lace their guns with it and the Wolfsbane is what kills you, not the wound."
"Well, what are you going to do to save my brother?"
"I have to burn it out of him."
Everyone gasped at that and I just grabbed both Jack and Finn's hands. They both looked at me in slight shock before Kelly brought out a blow torch. Camille looked shocked when Kelly told her to hold down Jack. As soon as she started, both of them winced in pain before they started to scream. I let out a deep breath as I took their pain and transferred it to me. I started to shake from the intense pain that I was taking from them but Jack and Finn weren't feeling any of it anymore. I could feel the blow torch burning my flesh as my healing started to take over. After about five minutes of this pain, a tear fell from my eye just before Kelly stopped. She looked up and smiled before she realized that Jack and Finn weren't making any noise.
Instead, everyone was looking at me before I felt myself falling backwards and everything fading to black.
A/N: Well this is the second time I'm typing this because I accidentally pressed the undo button and the redo button doesn't work. (-_-) Now, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and I'm so happy that I get to update this story. I feel like the story needed to have some sort of change up instead of the usual Logan following James. I mean, this story has so many characters with the wolf pack and Logan's family. I'm so excited for you all to see them blend and how the introduction of Guitar Dude will change some dynamics of the original plot I had for this story. :D
