Jack parked his car in front of Elsa's house and leaned his head against the wheel. He had no clue what he was going to do today for Christmas. He was usually the cool guy, the suave, heartthrob, lady killer and he had no clue as to what to do for Christmas with his girlfriend.
It was probably because she was different. She wasn't like other girls who shriek over diamonds and drool over chocolate. Sure he could get her a gold necklace and a box of chocolate but all she would do is politely smile and thank him. He wanted to get her something that would make her cry tears of joy and shriek and hug him. He wanted to break her composure and take the last step to opening up to him.
Jack moaned and accidentally slid his head onto the horn. The door immediately opened and Elsa stood in the doorway. Jack took a second to comprehend what he was looking at. Elsa was wearing a one sleeved, off the shoulder, blue dress. It fell to her knees with a slit that approached her waistline. The dress managed to show off her legs without making them look too long. She wore skin tone stockings with small silver snowflakes and light brown toned, heeled ankle boots. Her hair fell around her shoulders, straightened. She was easily the most beautiful girl Jack had ever seen.
…
Elsa stood slightly wobbly in her boots. She had forgotten her jacket upstairs and was desperately looking for a way to tame her wild hair. How hard can it be? If Merida can do it I can. Elsa looked at the black car in front of her house as Jack walked out. He was in white dress pants, a light blue collared shirt, and a dark blue snowflake patterned tie. The first two buttons of his shirt were of course unbuttoned and his tie loose. He was slouched with his hand running through his hair, sheepishly smiling. Elsa looked away before she blushed. She knew he was trying extra hard to dress up for her. Grabbing her white winter jacket, she walked out the door.
…
"So what do you want to do today?" Elsa started the conversation. Inwardly, she contemplated rolling down the window to get some cool air before she started sweating.
"I was thinking of going to the mall to see Frozen and then get dinner." Jack said slowly. He had to make that up on the spot. Jack was ready for the frown of disapproval on Elsa's face that he had seen so many times on his previous girlfriends' faces.
Instead her face lit up, "That's sounds great! I heard Frozen was an awesome movie!" Elsa was ecstatic. She didn't have to worry about some fancy date that was sure to induce uncontrolled sweating, a tomato sauce stained dress, and an argument.
"Really? You're okay with that?" Jack asked. He was utterly surprised, in a good way. He had never dated a girl who was completely okay with going a chill, inexpensive date. As a plus, while they were walking through the mall, he could see what drew Elsa's attention and get it for her.
"Of course!" Elsa replied upbeat. She looked out the window and frowned a little. The way Jack asked, made it sound like she should want something more. Did he not like the fact that she was simple minded?
It wasn't long before they made it to the mall. While walking to the theatre, Jack and Elsa walked hand in hand. She stopped a couple of times to eye some art supplies and the new Taylor Swift release. Jack saw this and made a mental note of where all those items were.
"Two adult tickets to Frozen." Jack said to box office worker.
"Sure. Here you go. But aren't you a little old to see it?" Jack and Elsa both blushed at his remark. "I mean if I were you with that girlfriend I would take her to some horror movie so she would be all over me."
Jack and Elsa blushed harder. "Well, that remark just proves I would never date someone as stereotypical as that. And just so you know, I love horror movies. My boyfriend would be hanging on to me in fright." Elsa walked to the concession stand, but not before giving the man a hair flip. Jack stared at his girlfriend incredulously. Glad to know she still has the hair flip down. Since when did she walk so well in heels?
At the stand Elsa ordered a large popcorn, a large Pepsi, two box of fruit snacks, two boxes of sour skittles and a pretzel bites all for herself. Jack ordered his own large popcorn and a box of sour skittles. He then proceeded to paying for everything.
"Wait! I was going to pay for my own." Elsa stopped him.
"Elsa, it's a date I'm paying for everything." Jack took out his wallet.
"No way! If I knew you were going to pay I never have ordered that much food!" Elsa took out hers.
"Do you want it though?"
"Of course I want it! I ordered it. But I'm not going to let you pay that. I didn't even give you money for the tickets." Elsa put a hand on her hip.
Jack quickly slid the cashier a fifty and a twenty. "Keep the change." Before Elsa could do anything. He gently nudged her forward. He then put all the candies in his pockets and held everything else in his hands like a balancing act in a circus.
"At least let me hold the popcorn…"
The next customer walked up to the cashier. "Aren't they cute?"
…
The couple was sitting in the middle of the theatre watching the movie. That's all they were doing watching and eating. Jack was contemplating putting his arm on Elsa's shoulders and making some move to kiss her. Elsa was considering leaning into Jack. Instead the two sat awkwardly gorging themselves on snacks.
Elsa held up her second box of fruit snacks, "Want some?"
"Yeah, thanks." Jack opened the box and ate some. Meanwhile, there were couples around them in full on snuggle-mode.
Jack peaked at Elsa from the side of his eye. Would she think it's stereotypical to put my arm on her shoulder? I could try a different method. Or maybe she just wants to watch the movie. Probably.
Jack decided not to move an inch. Elsa glanced at Jack. Does he not want to kiss me? Maybe my breath smells bad. Impossible I brushed my teeth three times this morning. But everyone else is being romantic. Maybe it's stereotypical of me to think he is going to make a move. Probably just wants to watch the movie. Probably.
"I want it on DVD now." Jack said as he and Elsa walked slowly to a restaurant.
"I'll get you one if you get me one." Elsa offered.
"Deal." The walked into the restaurant and took off their jackets. The booth is a more secluded area of the restaurant giving them the perfect opportunity to get intimate.
Shortly after they ordered, it hit Jack. Elsa writes in a journal everyday. She would no doubt need a new one soon. "I need to go the bathroom. I'll be right back." Jack slipped his wallet into his back pants pocket and ran to the bathroom. He hoped Elsa didn't notice there was back door there too and sprinted to the closest Barnes and Nobles.
It wasn't till he got there that he realized there were a lot of journals to choose from. It wasn't long before he lost track of time. Half an hour later he had two journals to choose from. One was white with sparkly, grey writing on it. The other was white with light and dark blue colored flowers, but when you look closer they are snowflakes layered on top of each other. Jack chose the flowered one and jogged to the line that was currently wrapping around a far off bookshelf.
By the time Jack purchased the book got it wrapped and a card for it an hour had passed. In total, he had left Elsa alone in a restaurant, alone, for an hour and a half, with the excuse that he had to use the bathroom.
…
Elsa was sitting at the table staring at Jack's plate of spaghetti. It's been 45 minutes. It was clear to her at this point that she had been ditched. How could I have been so stupid? All the signs were right there! He clearly wanted to break up with her and he didn't know how so he just left. Elsa thought back to the time he insisted to pay. He probably felt bad about breaking up with me and decided to pay for my stuff. Then there was the movie in which he made no moves on her. Who wants to make out with the person you about break up with?
Elsa got up teary eyed; her food untouched and put on her jacket. She paid for the food and walked out. Great I have to walk home.
…
Jack ran to the restaurant only to see another couple sitting where Elsa and he were supposed to be.
"Dude. She left like half an hour ago." The waiter patted him on the back and continued with his work.
Jack sprinted to his car and drove toward Elsa's house. I fucked up. Big time.
He drove up to her house and rung the doorbell only to realize that the lights were off and no one was home. Instead drove back out and went to the closest park. Sitting on the side of the sandbox with her back toward him was Elsa.
"Elsa! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to leave you alone for that long!" Jack walked up to her. She didn't move. As he got closer he realized that she was bent over crying. "Hey."
"Were you going to break up with me today?" Elsa looked up at him.
"No! What made you think that?"
"You didn't try to make a move earlier, during the movie. And you left me at the restaurant so…"
"I didn't make a move because I didn't know if you would want me to do that or not. And I left to get you a present because I didn't want to get you some stupid cliché present but I couldn't choose which one to get and the line was long and by the time I got back you were gone." Jack started babbling. For some reason he couldn't stop either. "And I couldn't really make a move today because you were dressed like that. And you look beautiful and you're wearing heels and if I tried to make out with you, what if I was too short-"
"What did you get me?" Elsa cut him off.
"What?"
"What did you get me?"
"That's what you care about?"
"Considering it took you almost two hours in the middle our date to get it, yeah I would be curious to know what it is. " Elsa mumbled as she blushed.
Jack showed her the white wrapped rectangular present and watched Elsa open it. He was surprised that her eyes didn't puff up when she cried and her nose turned scarlet. Her hair hung lightly around her shoulders and her white jacket was light brown now due to the sand. She shivered a little.
"Are you cold?"
"No…" Jack draped his coat over her shoulders.
"I said no."
"You weren't convincing enough."
Elsa finally got the wrapping off and stared at the journal. "How did you know?"
"You always have that one floral print book in your backpack that you hide from me." Jack said.
"It's beautiful."
"Just like you." Jack leaned in kissing her quickly at first. The second time he kissed her slower and waited for her to react. Surprisingly, she kissed him back hesitantly. The kiss became stronger as Elsa placed her arms around Jack's neck. He drew her in closer and –
"Hey! Get out of here! This is a park for kids." A middle aged mother stood with a frown on her face and her hand covering her son's eyes.
"Sorry." The couple said in unison.
…
"Here's your present. " Elsa said from within Jack's arms. They were sitting cuddled together on the living room couch with the tv blasting whatever Christmas special it had.
"Final Fantasy 15? Where did you get it? How did you get it? This is awesome. You're awesome. I love you!" Jack hugged Elsa and realized what he said only to slowly pull away. "I mean you- I- "
"I love you too." Elsa whispered, blushing as she kissed Jack. It was the first time she kissed him first. And Jack realized the only way to get her to open up was for him to lose his own composure. That meant dropping the whole cool guy act. He gave a sigh of defeat. He was whipped for sure and he didn't mind it one bit. Jack kissed Elsa back as the tv sung, "We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way, Walking in a winter wonderland."
AN: Hey everyone! I'm sorry for not uploading sooner. My laptop's harddrive crashed so I lost a couple of chapters. Unfortunately, I will have to use the desktops at my school to upload so the process will be alot slower than usual.I will still be posting the late Christmas chapters as soon as possible. Also, school has started up again and I will be busy for a while but I will try to continue the whole three-to-four chapter upload a month. But those matters aside. I hope you all like the chapter and had a great Christmas. And thank you everyone who has followed, favorited, or reviewed, it really appreciate it. :3
