AN: Uh umm, so hi... nice to see you again... So I am not going to lie and say that I was just so busy and thats why I haven't updated, I just lost my muse and it went downhill from there. So this chapter has been finished for about 3 months now but, I took another 3 months to write the next chapter. But I have this chapter written and I have the next

Jane's POV

I wake to the sound of water running from the bathroom. I glance around immediately, noticing I am at Maura's. These last few weeks I have spent nearly every night staying here, with Maura, so it isn't a surprise. I roll onto my side and reach out to where Maura should be, and finding that it was still partially warm, I flip over to my other side and opened my eyes to the still partially dark room and sought out the alarm clock 7:15. Okay, not too bad for a late night, last night we didn't get in 'til 1 am. Pulling myself up, I sit, leaning against the headboard, and rub my eyes with the vain hope of waking further.

"Rubbing your eyes can affect the front of the eye. The combination of increased eye pressure and the mechanical damage caused by rubbing can harm the cornea, and in rare cases, the cornea tears, a condition known as keratoconus. The damage could be enough to cause significant loss of sight." I jump, I hadn't even noticed Maura walking into the room, on the way to her wardrobe.

"Mauraaaaa" I groan good naturedly. "Too early for your Google mouth." I yawn, but still proceed to pull myself out of bed.

"Morning Bebé. Go have a shower, it will wake you up." I peck Maura and continue through to the foggy bathroom, where Maura has left the shower running.

"Thanks Maur!" I yell, before stripping off my pjs, and I step into Maura's massive shower.

Maura and I get to BPD with enough time for me to fight with Maura about having another coffee, and have one anyway, before we part ways at the elevator with a promise from Maur that she will text me before the autopsy, the lift arrives and we go our separate ways. I impatiently wait for the lift to get to homicide, first day back after a month and a half and I am itching to get back to work. The doors open and I step into the familiar surroundings, my phone buzzes as I walk over to Frost and Korsak.

"Pike's been here, will be awhile." I chuckle as I walk up behind the suspect board "What have we got so far?" I ask, studying the board. So far on it was the pictures of the body, the stage, her dressing room, the evidence we found and a list of everyone who was backstage.

"I have sent Frankie to go get the wife, Susan Chandra, but apart from that, not very far. Welcome back by the way." Frost adds.

"Thanks, glad as hell to be back but it was nice to spend time off with Maura." I say with a small smile

"Speaking of time off, what on earth were you doing at the ballet, Janie?" I wrinkle my nose as I turn towards Korsak.

"Christmas present, it was horrible." I say in a mock whisper. "I was even kinda happy for the murder," Frost and Korsak laugh.

"Only you could get excited about murder."

"Yes, well, I'm not the most conventional person am I?"

Frost laughs. "Thats an understatement."

I mock glare at him before I laugh, no matter how much I have enjoyed being off with Maura I have missed this friendly banter with the boys, then my phone beeps.

"Oh, Maura says she is ready for me to come down for the autopsy, but text me when the vic's wife gets in." I say as I go back down to the lift, passing detective Crowe on the way.

"I heard you've got Doctor Death in your bed." He snarled.

"Yea, well, at least women take interest in me." I snap back before getting into the lift to go down to the morgue. It had been months since I had last been down here willingly. I had been sending Korsak down here as much as possible. It was almost relaxing to come back into the stainless steel room that I had spent so much time in with my best friend.

Maura is standing over the vic, writing the last of her notes. I go silently up behind her and wait for her to finish before wrapping my arms around her waist. She jumps, before working out who I am and relaxing into my arms. "Are you happy to be back?" she asks quietly.

"Yea, I am quietly grateful for the murder, but don't tell anyone." I say softly. Maura laughed before turning around and placing a soft kiss on my lips

"Oh - um, am I interrupting something?" I hear from behind me. I groan under my breath and grit my teeth as Maura spins around to face Susie. I look up and force a fake smile to hide my anger at being interrupted.

"Senior Criminalist Chang, it is good to see you again, I will be starting with the autopsy immediately, I was wondering if you could take a look at my initial findings, I will get the final autopsy results to you in an hour." I stifle a grin at Maura trying to get rid of her little follower.

Susie finally leaves and I place a kiss on Maura's head. "Autopsy time" I say, reluctantly turning towards the victim covered by a blanket and frown. "I think this one is going to be difficult Maura."

"But you will get it like you always do" Maura says, confident. She looks up from the scalpel and tools tray. "Can you please flip her over with me so I can get a better look at her back" I help flip her over.

"It doesn't make any sense, why would a killer risk doing it in such an exposed area if it wasn't personal? It wouldn't have been a robbery gone wrong, she had nothing on her; which can only leave it as being a terrorist attack or a hate crime, and going by the picture we found in her dressing room I would say," I pause and take a deep breath, "I think it is a hate crime because she's gay." I rub the scars on my hands.

"Jay it will be fine, just do your job as usual, don't let anything bias you and you will be fine, ok mon cher?" I smile softly, Maura is right if I don't let anything bias me or let anything get to me then I will handle the case like Detective Rizzoli.

My phone buzzed a text from Frost 'Vics wife here. Meet you in Interrogation Room 4', I groan "The Wife is here, I better go up, if you find anything out of the ordinary or even if you don't feel free to come by." I say, with a smirk. Maura gives me one of her mock glares and shoes me out of the room.

"Go, I have an autopsy to do." I frown, but smile as I leave the room to go interview the wife. Mrs Chandra I think Frost said her name was.

I slip into the interrogation room quietly, and sit down opposite a dark skin woman who reminded me vaguely of Kerry Washington. I lean over and quickly flick through a book on everything Frost had collected on Mrs Susan Chandra. "Lawyer, very well educated, no criminal history, both parents and an older sister all well off," I look at Frost and nod. "Mrs Chandra, I am sorry for your loss."

"Thank you" Mrs Chandra visibly bit back a sob, and I hate to have to ask the next question "I hate to say this but where were you during the performance?"

"I was in court, it had run over time and I had to call her at half time and say I couldn't make it, she understood that I couldn't come but she was devastated, that was why she was on stage dancing with no one around. When she was upset she would do two things; dance and get snappy. Oh if I was only there, she wouldn't have been on her own." At this point she started crying, and I place a comforting hand on hers. "We will have to double check her alibi but I think it's rock solid." I say turning to Frost.

All of a sudden there was a knock at the door and Maura poked her head in. I nod with a smile, "Mrs Chandra, this is the Chief Medical Examiner Dr Maura Isles."

"We are doing everything we can."

"Thank you, Doctor." I smile at Maura. "Mau- I mean Dr Isles is there a reason you came or are you just gracing us with your presence?"

Maura rolls her eyes "No detective, there is a reason I came, the tox screens came back," I raise an eyebrow and wait for Maur to continue, "She had a minuscule amount of Etorphine in her blood."

My brain scans through the drugs I know till I work out what this one is "But thats a sedative for animals, it would have," suddenly the penny drops. "It would have knocked her unconscious, no way to fight back, it would have worked so quickly she wouldn't have been able to make any noise. Stab her right over the puncture wound, the killer would have presumed that we wouldn't work out that she had been drugged with such a small amount in her system" I say quickly, out of the corner of my eye I see Frost nod and Maura smile.

"Thanks Maur, I will see you later, ok?" I say with a soft smile as Maura leaves. I turn back to Mrs Chandra. "I think we have everything for now, once your alibi is confirmed then we will be keeping you in the loop."

Mrs Chandra nods quietly. "Detective, you should keep the doctor, it is obvious that she loves you, and you love her, your love reminds me of mine and, and Ana's." She says with a slight stammer. "Thank you, I promise I will do everything to find out who did this to your wife." I say as I leave the room.
