It was a quiet day. Eerily quiet and somewhat unsettling. Even Krieg was quiet. Not a single person had any missions or quests or even simple errands to run. The entire Crimson Raider group, were bored out of their minds.
"How could there be seriously nothing to do?!" Axton whined.
"Ugh, it's a weekend," Gaige said pouting. She then kicked off the wall and spun around in the chair she had been lounging in for the past hour.
"Who cares if it's a weekend," Axton snorted, "Someone out there is bound to have something for us to do."
"Maybe we should go...ask...?" Salvador suggested.
All eyes turned to look at him, all shocked.
"What? It was just a suggestion," he shrugged.
"Might just be a good one," Maya added. She was leaning against our arm, not even trying to hide it from anyone. It had been a little over two weeks since we brought her flowers and she freaked out. But I'm pretty sure there's something between us now. She hasn't said much about it, at least not in any form of words, but, it's how she is around us. How openly she stands so close to us and uses us for leaning on and the such. Not to mention how often sex is involved now. God she's wild. Krieg, you idiot, you're staring, like really obviously staring. At her boobs! Look somewhere else, you oaf!
Despite our demands, Krieg did the exact opposite. Hand reaching outward, he proceeded to grope Maya's chest, quite obviously, in fact. He even made strange perverted chuckled as he did so.
Slowly, Maya turned her gaze upon us and for a moment I was sure we'd turn to stone. A low growl built up within her, quiet at first then progressively got louder. Luckily Krieg got the idea and quickly retreated his hand, carefully putting it back in his lap like a well trained pet.
"Daaaaayuuumn, girl, you gots dat monkey trained like a well aimed canon!" Tiny Tina burst in.
Maya looked at the young girl, "Lot's of practice and unforgiving eyes," she said. So, that's how she did it.
"So, are ya'll an item yet, or nah? Cause a girl's gotta know these things," Tina demanded, folding her arms as she waited for an answer.
Krieg frantically looked to Maya, desperately waiting for an answer. We both wanted to know. Are we?
Maya sputtered, "Ah...pfft, I mean..."
Was this really happening? Maya was speechless. Her typical bad ass front, reduced to a babbling school girl. And is that, blush? Maya may actually be blushing.
"I mean...I guess," she finally admitted. It was then we realized all eyes were on her, well us. Both of us. Us as in, a couple, us. So, it's official. I think.
"Any who, any ya'll know where my boy Roland at? I can't find 'em anywhere."
"You mean, he's not with you?" Axton asked.
"Yeah, we all just assumed he was hanging out with you, but come to think of it, where's Lilith?" Gaige asked.
Everyone looked around as the realization hit them as well.
"Proly out sexcapading," Tina said mater-o-factly.
Krieg shuttered at the thought. What has been imagined, cannot be un imagined.
I needed to get out of there and get off these subjects, so I rose to my feet, "Well, I don't know about you guys, but I need something to do."
"Krieg's right there," Axton offered.
Scrunching up my nose, I used my Phaselock on him, raising him into the air. "Any other snarky comments?" I demanded with a grunt. The room was dead silent to my pleaser. Lowering my hand I left, not even waiting for Krieg. I didn't even have to ask if he wanted to come with me, he was already up and following me out. I heard the distinct thump of Axton hitting the ground, to my pure delight, but it was quickly replaced by this sudden sinking feeling. Sure I'm not what one would call nice, but I'm not exactly mean either, so why the sudden outburst? Had my relationship with Krieg really make me feel...prude? Or was it something else?
We're walking for a while before I realize I'm not even paying attention to where I'm going. It's not till we're in Moxxi's that I realize where I'm at. "Oh god."
"Hey, sugar, feeling alright?" Moxxi asks as she leans over the counter. I can't help but stare at that voluptuous cleavage. Woman or not, Moxxi is pretty damn sexy. Krieg's staring too, so I give him a quick jab in the side.
I sat down on one of the open stools and sighed, "I don't know what's wrong with me," I admitted, which was surprisingly easy.
Krieg sat down beside me and Moxxi mixed us some drinks, "On the house, babe," Moxxi winked. I smiled and took a sip. Moxxi was always so easy to talk to and full of advice. One might find it hard to believe considering her business, unless you really knew her. To me, she was kind of like, the motherly older sister, always knowing the right thing to say.
I told her everything that's happened up till this point. Meeting Krieg, the things we did together, the relationship that has built in a matter of weeks. Finally admitting that we were in a relationship, which saying it the second time was a lot easier than the first time, but once again, this is Moxxi, she just has that effect on people. I even told her about my attack on Axton.
"Well, sugar, sounds like you're inner girl is finally showing," she teased.
"Moxxi, I'm being serious!"
"So am I, doll. Us girls have to show our girl side once in awhile, even if it's not our norm. We all get shy and awkward once in a while."
"But what about me attacking Axton?" I asked.
"It's a defense mechanism. Literally. You felt embarrassed so you deflected, but showing you're still capable. That's all, dear. Just accept it and be more open about it and you'll be fine," she assured me. "Oh, and one more thing, love?"
I nodded.
"Will you be a doll and deliver that pizza over there to Scooter, that guy gives me the creeps."
"Sure thing," finally, something to do. Krieg picked up the pizza and we left Moxxi's. We took the long way to Scooter's. It wasn't much of a mission, but it was something. Something other than lounging around all day. I wonder if the others found stuff to do to? I made a note to apologize to Axton when we got back then my stomach growled. "That pizza sure does smell good," I said.
Krieg nodded in agreement with a slight grunt.
I took a deep breath and bit my lip, "Well, maybe he won't notice if I have, just one," I thought aloud. I felt Krieg's eyes on me, not sure what he was thinking, but he didn't do anything to stop me as I reached into the box, "Only one," I repeated. I took a bite, it had cooled a bit and I wondered how long Moxxi had it sitting out. It still tasted pretty good.
We arrived at Scooter's garage pretty quick and walked right in. Scooter was under one of his latest projects when he heard us come in. He slid out from underneath the metal death trap and smelled the air, "S'at my pizza?!" he jumped up to his feet and walked up to Krieg.
Krieg was hesitant, but slowly held the pizza box out to Scooter. I was curious by his reaction, but didn't question it.
Scooter happily flipped open the box, but the smile quickly faded, "Uh...where's my pizza guys?"
I looked to Krieg, "Did you get hungry?"
Krieg frantically shook his head, "TWAS THE MIGHTY BEAST WHO DANCES WITH MEAT!"
I pointed to myself, "Me, but, I mean, I did take one piece, but...no...shit, did I really?" I thought back really hard, "Oh, shit Scooter, I didn't mean to, I just, I guess I was really hungry," quickly I paid him back, "I'll make it up to you."
Scooter took my money and beamed at me, "Any girl who can down a jalapeño, anchovy and skittles pizza is a girl after my own heart," he beamed.
I scrunched up my nose. Was all that really on there? I hadn't even noticed.
Krieg put a possessive arm around me and pulled me close as if to say, "Do not touch," I couldn't help but feel touched by the motion and as Moxxi said, it made me feel...girly.
We left scooters and I couldn't help but think back to that pizza. Had I really ate it all? "Jalapeño, anchovy and skittles pizza," I repeated out loud, "was that really all on there?"
Krieg looked to me again, but didn't say a word. We meandered down the ally ways and came up to Zeds. I hesitated out front. Maybe I'm coming down with something, I thought. "Hey, Krieg, why don't you head back to the Crimson Raiders, I'm gonna make a quick stop."
We wondered back to the Crimson Raiders hideout, Krieg didn't seem to pay any mind to Maya, but I on the other hand was wondering what had gotten into her. Don't you think it's a little strange? I ask Krieg, but as usual, he doesn't hear me. How does one girl down a triple extra large pizza all by herself? We wonder into the Crimson Raiders to find Roland and Lilith had returned.
"Did you guys get my ECHO," Lilith asked, "Where's Maya?"
Tiny Tina answered for us, "They didn't have their ECHOs with them, cause day thought dem were down, babe." She picked them up from the table and flashed them at Lilith.
"We left a note," Roland frowned.
"Where?" Mordecai asked.
Both Roland and Lilith pointed to the hand written not sitting on the table where everyone's ECHOs had been sitting all day.
"Oh...shit, my bad," Mordecai chuckled.
"Yeah, well, it's back up now, guys. We were running some tests and doing updates all day. We even set out a radio message to everyone telling them we wouldn't be reachable for a while," Lilith said folding her arms under her chest.
"Oh, well looks like we're back in business guys," Axton beamed and snatched up his ECHO as well as the rest of the team.
"Not all of us," Maya said as she walked in.
Everyone turned to look at her, her eyes sunken and distant. She looked sick to her stomach and like she might cry.
"What's up?" Lilith asked, concerned.
Maya rubbed her neck, hesitant to respond, "I'm pregnant."
A/N: Yay, another chapter, that cliff hanger though. So I'm gonna try to make a poll, but do you guys think Maya's pregnancy should be just a dream/nightmare, or should it be for real? If real leave a comment with what you think would happen and how it will effect things in the story. Perhaps some ideas. Some feedback for this will be really helpful.
Edit: a poll is now up for voting, so please go check it out.
