She could see for a few brief moments after waking long enough to see Lavi startled by her question.

"Abanah! Tell me you remember..." she returned to her familiar black world where there was nothing but darkness.

She cut Lavi off with a horse laugh "I know i'm Abanah, but... who was I before... I mean, who am I... Really?"

"Abanah, your... Abanah. Nothing more, nothing less... You must be hungry! I will have Jerry whip something up real quick!" Abanah heard the chair screech against the floor as Lavi stood up from his lounging position, set down his book and walked toward the door. His footsteps were rather heavy, for being such a slim boy.

A few days had passed

"I give you a clean bill of health, starting tomorrow you will begin training with Lenalee" Komui helped Abanah out of the infirmary bed with his normal cheery smile.

"Komui... if I may ask, how did I acquire 2 pieces of innocence?" straight to the point.

"That..." Komui was hesitant to answer "i am unsure of... right now it is all just theory and speculation, I don't want to give you a false presumption of where your 2nd innocence came from... but even if it is what I think it may be, it is best if you didn't know." Komui sighed "I know its not the answer you were looking for, but it is the best for all of us if we left it as it is."

"Don't I have the luxury of knowing your theories? It is my body and my life that is affected by all of this."

"It may be your body, but that is all in the past now, and reliving the past through theoretical stories is not always a luxury."

"But I saw... faces, and colors... and if that happens every time I may activate my innocence, then this is all current and happening in the present... if my past, or theoretical past, may have some affect on my future I deserve to know." Komui was speechless at Abanahs words. "and the worst part is... it was not strange or foreign to be able to see... it was natural for me."

"I will tell you." Komui led Abanah to his office. Once there he sat her down on the couch across from his desk, she heard the rustling of papers, until Komui placed a familiar book on her lap.

The cover she felt was still embossed with familiar floral patterns "My book..." she finally said "Why is this here? Why do you have my book?"

"Abanah..." Komui tried to comfort her...

"Why don't I remember any of this! How can I continue knowing my entire life was made up, false memories!" Abanah hunched over gripping at the knot in her stomach.

"And this..." she picked up the journal that belonged the the elderly couple, her precious fairytails "This is what formed those fake memories that hid behind the real ones!" she threw the book across the room. "How cruel of them... taking advantage of me, hiding all of my secrets in such an obvious place..." she fell to her knees sobbing "a book... they knew I was blind, they knew I couldn't read, permanently hiding my life in my most valued treasure that turned out to be a lie!"

Lavi picked up the book, its binding slowly falling apart. He should never have shown it to komui. The one thing that confirmed her identity, the book that he had been reading, her life story, was now literally falling apart in his hands, and it killed him.

"And this is where our theory takes over..." Bookman ignored Abanahs rant and continued. "knowing you were found not far from the orders old head quarters, in your weakened condition, by this elderly couple... we came to a conclusion." Bookman paused. "But first you need to know a little history about the order. Several years ago, there were experiments being performed on non-accommodators, all ending in failure... or so we thought. Innocence was being forced into children, and they would be rejected by the innocence and become 'fallen'. To become fallen your innocence must fall to 0% or the exorcist must reject the innocence, this innocence had not only successfully stayed in your body, but had not turned you into a fallen when it liquified and left your body."

"Succesfully!" Lavi interrupted "You call what they did to her a victory!" Bookman gave Lavi a glare before continuing.

"for what was trying to be accomplished, yes it was successful for them... however there are 2 holes in our theory: first, how did you, already having innocence, get chosen for this experiment without anyone noticing? Second, how did you escape unnoticed and not 'fallen'? Knowing this, we came to understand that somehow you slipped under the radar and became one of these experimental children... how? We don't know." Bookman stopped there.

"We need to confirm with Hevlaska our theory, she was the only one around during that time." Komui said.

And yet again, it was down the elevator

"...and then I joined the Order." Komui finally spoke up. "the experiments stopped and Hevlaska told me everything when I became chief."

"So that answers one question, but raises another. Who pronounced Abanah dead?" Bookman said

"I did" Hevlaska said. "I knew she was not dead, but I could not bring myself to say otherwise, knowing what would happen to her. I just had to hope she would survive."

"When I sent Miranda on her mission, based on the location... I thought it might have been you Abanah, but I was unsure when you arrived that it was you, well... until now."
