Chapter 11: Naruto's Choice

A whisper, "Naruto."

Naruto turns his head and groans.

"Naruto," he hears again and he finally opens his eyes. Naruto sits up and notices the change in the bedroom, 'Where am I?!'

"Why am I here?" Naruto stands up, looking around the room and realizes, "I'm in Kusagakure."

He walks around in his apartment, and everything is in the same place that he remembered he left it to be. Empty Ramen cups laying on the countertops and dirty clothing scattered on the wooden floors.

*Knock Knock*

The door flies open and Sayuri is standing in the door way, "Nii-san! What are you doing? Did you just wake up?!"

Sayuri struts into his apartment with no hesitation and sits on the sofa. She scrunches her face and sniffs around, "Eh, Naurto-nii-san, when was the last time you cleaned your place?"

"Yuri, what day is it?" Naruto feels a pain in his head and begins to rub it.

She writes in the air with her pointer finger, "Uhhh…it's the 21st of August! You promised to help me train today! Don't you remember?"

Naruto scratches his head, "21st…of August…"

Silence fills the apartment and Naruto scrunches his face in frustration.

"Did you forget something?" Sayuri asks.

"I-I feel like," he pauses, "Like I've already been through this day."

Sayuri gets off the couch and places her hand on Naruto's shoulder, "What do you mean?"

He shakes his head, "I-I'm sure it's nothing. Let's go train, okay?"

Naruto heads to the door and waits for Sayuri to follow. She follows with no further questions. They both walk through their peaceful village, Kusagakure, the Hidden Village in the Grass, and stop by a small shop to buy drinks and snacks for later.

"Ne, I have a question."

"Nani?" Naruto holds the bag of their drinks and snacks, and continues to the direction of the training grounds.

Sayuri follows, "Did you hear about a lady that fought 30 ninjas at once?! She was so fast, and super strong. I heard she finished them in 10 minutes, minimum."

'Eh, haven't I heard this before?' Naruto looks at Sayuri in a surprised expression.

"What? You've heard of her?"

"Uh, not really! I haven't heard of her," Naruto replies, feeling uneasy.

"I think people said she was from Konoha," Sayuri adds.

Naruto drops the bag, feeling a sense of déjà vu, "Did you just say Konoha?"

She nods, "Mm!"

"Do you-" But Naruto is cut off by a loud crash, 'Minato.'

Both Naruto and Sayuri look in its direction and Kunio is chasing after a little boy with dark yellow hair and pupil-less blue eyes.

"Get back here you little-"

"Kunio?" Naruto and Sayuri say at the same time.

"Old man! I didn't take anything! It was that other kid with the bright brown hair!" Minato explains, still running away. They soon appear closer and closer to Naruto and Sayuri. As they pass, Minato makes eye contact with Naruto.

'I know this happened before!' Naruto grabs Minato's arm, "Wait! Y-You're Minato!"

Minato looks at Naruto in confusion. "What are you doing?! Let me go!" He struggles to get out of Naruto's grip.

"Naruto-nii-san, you know this kid?" Sayuri questions.

Naruto nods, "Y-Your mom! Uhhh, what's her name…." Naruto tries to remember, but he can't seem to put this tongue on it. As Naruto is thinking, Minato chomps on his hand and runs for it. Naruto quickly follows him, "Wait, Minato!"

"Nii-san!"

Kunio and Sayuri also follows Naruto as he continues to pursue Minato.

"I need to see your mom, Minato!" Naruto starts to push off the ground with more power and closes the distance between then.

'I have to flash out before he catches me!' Minato wields a hand sign just as Naruto grabs him shoulder.

"Hiraishin no Justsu!" A dark yellow flash shines in front of Sayuri and Kunio and they look away from the brightness. After it diminishes, they both find that Naruto and the kid are gone.

"Where, where did they go?" Sayuri asks Kunio.

He shakes his head in disbelief, "I don't know."

***Naruto***

Naruto is blinded by the bright light and feels the ground disappear from under him. Gravity takes effect and Naruto drops to the ground and loses his grip on Minato. He opens his eyes and looks around to see the ground battered with holes and kunai knifes.

"W-what is going on?" He reaches out his hand to place on Minato's shoulder, but it lands on nothing, "Minato?"

A kunai knife with an explosive tag lands in front of Naruto and he jumps back in time to avoid it. BOOM! Dust from the ground expands into the air and Naruto can no longer see what's around him.

Cough Cough "Minato! Where are you?" Naruto covers his mouth and squints his eyes to try to see through the dust.

"N-Naruto-kun?"

Naruto looks behind him and sees Hinata on one knee, holding her bloody left arm. He runs to her side, "Hinata! Wh-What happened?! What's going on?"

Hinata looks at him confused, 'He shouldn't know who I am.'

Minato sees his parents together, and begins to head in their direction, "Mom!"

Hinata sighs in relieve, "Minato, thank goodness, hurry this way!"

Minato starts to run but is soon grabbed by a man with brunette hair.

Hinata tries to get up, "No, stop! Let him go!" She falls with no strength in her legs to pick herself up.

Naruto holds her shoulders, "Hinata, you're too weak. It's going to be okay."

She shakes her head in disagreement, "You can't let him take him, please Naruto-kun."

"Oh, don't worry Princess, I'm not gonna take him."

"Mom," Minato cries out.

The man places one hand on Minato's chin and the other on the top of his head, "I'm gonna kill him."

Everything turns into slow motion. Naruto takes-off running, to try to stop the man but he already knows he won't make it. He watches as Minato's head turns 90 .

SNAP. SLAM.

Minato's body falls lifelessly to the ground, Naruto tackles the man to the ground, and Hinata runs to Minato as she screams in agony.

"Noooo! No, no, no, no," Hinata kneels to the ground and picks up Minato, "Please, please, baby…wake up."

Minato is limp in her arms. Hinata cries out even more, "W-why….t-this can't be real…"

Naruto boils in anger and raises his knuckles to punch the man, but as he takes his swing the man and everything around him disappears into dust. Darkness is the only thing to surround him.

"Nice to see you back with Hinata," the brown-haired man says standing in front of Naruto.

He does not recognize the man, "Who are you?"

The man slowly chuckles, "I think that question is better to ask yourself Naruto."

Naruto squints in confusion, "What are you talking about?"

"It's me! Touya!" He evilly smiles at them, "I'm coming to Konoha to take Hinata away from you, just like I was doing six years ago."

"Touya," Naruto gets a massive headache and drops to his knees. He screams from the pain, but waves of all of Naruto's forgotten memories flood into his mind.

Becoming a Jounin with his friends, his first date with Hinata, their wedding day, his inauguration day as Hokage, Hinata's kidnapping, fighting Touya, and all the emotions during those moments fills his heart.

Tears form in is eyes, "How could I have forgotten all of this?"

"Because I took it away from you."

Naruto angerly glares at Touya, "You took me away from my wife and my child."

Touya explains, "That was not my doing. Hinata was the one that planned that out. She knew where you were during those six years but did nothing to help you."

"She was running away from you! You kept her away from me!"

Touya chuckles, "You are not wrong there. Now you remember everything, I'm sure everyone will be so happy. But, the deal I offered before is still on the table."

"I know," Naruto contemplates on his decision.

"Well, what'll it be? I'm on my way to Konoha right now, and I'm sure you wouldn't want me to kill your kid in real life. Think of the pain that it would give Hinata, that moment before was only a taste of the agony that she will live through."

"Shut up!" Naruto yells.

Touya smirks, "I don't have all day."

He angerly hits the ground as there is no other option, "Okay, I'll do it," he decides, "I'll meet you by the front gate tomorrow at dawn."

"Good decision," Touya vanishes.

Knock Knock

Naruto opens his eyes and watches the door open slowly.

"Naruto, Hinata is back," Iruka tells him as he sits up from bed.

Naruto rubs his eyes, takes off the covers, and sits at the edge of the bed, 'I have to leave.'

"Is everything okay?" Iruka sits next to Naruto.

"Yeah," he is filled with sadness, "just take care of Hinata and Minato." Naruto gets up to leave but before he leaves the bedroom, he looks back at Iruka, "I would appreciate it, Dad."

Iruka eyes swell with tears and goosebumps rise on his arms, "Naruto, you-"

Naruto shushes Iruka, "I have to do this on my own."

Iruka nods his head in understanding and Naruto leaves the room. He walks to the front door, opens it, and his heart skips a beat.
