Finn sat at the large round table in the dining room, patiently waiting for BMO to finish her cooking in the next room. While he could look for more kids, he took this time to think about the ones he already met.

It was odd, they all were pretty odd, in fact this place just had that odd feeling. But oddly, it's likeable. They all were respectful, seemed smart, at least to Finn, and can be cool to know better. Susan, Vermillion, Rai, Williow, Willdow...

"Vermillion was one of those rebellious girls who would take awhile to give trust to people she doesn't know. A little cold-hearted but that's just probably because of a bad first impression. She seems close to Rai though, and it seems like he's the calmer, more collected one of the two. Like they are best friends."

It was one of those sweet moments that you would smile at without even realizing you were. Cute really.

"RAIIII!"

...Course when you hear a girl yell like a demon, it's less then cute.

Finn looked over to see Vermillion stomp into the room, fuming as Rai chased in, an apologic look on his face.

"Vermillion! Hear me out!"

Vermillion sat down across the table from Finn, turning her head away from him. "Leave me alone Rai! You completely destroyed my experiment!"

"I didn't know it was an experiment! It was on the floor!"

"You didn't think to ASK first like a normal person?"

Rai scoffed. "Normal people don't leave radioactive gumwads on the floor!"

Vermillion frowned. "Gumwads? Seriously? I thought you were smarter then that. It's obviously a Geno universal magnetic wooden ability domain spirals!"

Rai snickered. "Yeah, G.U.M.W.A.D.S."

Vermillion rolled her eyes. "See, this is why I can't stand you whenever you ruin my experiements! Always touching what you shouldn't!"

Rai glared at her. "Oh, so I'm just gonna have to walked on one of your bombs? Or be sucked into a black hole? You're experiments almost kill me daily!"

"That's your fault for not paying attention! None of what I do is lethal if you stay clear of it!"

"Which is impossible since it's all over the place! Don't you get that?!"

Vermillion scoffed and turned away from him, Rai fuming at this point. Finn wanted to chime in and stop this, but in this case he didn't know what to do, either side could be right or wrong, and he didn't want to get on the bad side of either of them./

Rai groaned." You always do this! Can't you just see my side and compromise?"

"It's too late to compromise!" Vermillion poked his chest. "YOU made sure of that!"

"What did I DO?"

Vermillion frowned and threw her arms up in the air. "You know what? NOTHING. You did absolutely NOTHING to me. That's the last time I go ahead and try to do something nice for you!"

Rai froze in his tracks, trying to comprehend what she said. "...Nice?"

Vermillion stomped away, Rai calling out to her. "What do you mean be nice?"

Rai groaned and sat down next to Finn, holding the bridge of his nose.

Finn decided to speak up. "...That sounded rough."

Rai sighed. "She's my best friend Finn, she really is, but I can't take the constant fear for my life anymore! You know what one of her experiments almost did to me?"

"Well..."

"It almost ATE me! I may have an I.Q. of 220 and can solve any problem, but I'm not exactly great in the physical fitness area! I barely got out of there!"

Finn shrugged. "I doubt so meant for that to happen."

"I know she didn't mean it but that doesn't make it right! You have to draw the line somewhere!"

Finn thought a moment. "...Well what kept you from yelling at her before?"

"I don't know, I guess before it wasn't really an issue. They were less dangerous."

"Less dangerous how?"

"Well for one there were no explosives." Rai explained. "It was mostly just simple experiments on bugs and plants. Back then it was more of a hobby then a mad profession."

"Maybe it's a phase?"

Rai shrugged. "If so it's the scariest one ever."

"Yeah...but you're her friend-"

"Best friend."

Finn smiled. "Right, BEST friend. And best friend stay together no matter what, even if there are explosives."

"That's what I've been doing! But she can't just blame me for something I barely had no control over!"

Finn nodded. "True, but as her best friend, just take the blow dude. Works for me."

Rai raised a brow. "Works for you?"

"Yeah." Finn smiled sheepishly. "But I'm not that good at understand girls myself so..."

Rai smirked. "Does that have to do will that girl Marceline?"

Finn blinked. "...How'd you know?"

"Willow and Willdow told us."

Finn facepalmed. "It's like they know everything about me!"

"Don't worry, they know everything about everybody." Rai said nonchalantly.

"Hmph." Finn frowned.

Rai got up, a plan already in motion. "Thanks for the chat Finn. You're not a half bad after all."

Finn cheer inwardly. He actually got on the good side of someone! "No prob. Just take it slow."

Rai scoffed jokingly. "I have an I.Q. of 220 Finn, I think I'm smart enough to do that."

As most girls are, Vermilion is a tough one. Not one to be pushed around by anyone of anything , and would rather die then admit defeat. Some would see these as good qualities, Rai said he did. But others find it quite bothersome and annoying.

That's why living in an orphanage sucks to her, the fact that she did prevented her of gaining any friends at school, or at least friends that wouldn't pity her.

That's another thing, she hates being pitied.

But when you live in a place that looked like this on the outside you would pity her too. Do't get the wrong idea, this place looks ALOT nice inside then out, and she loves it here, wouldn't trade it for the world.

But it's moments like these that she wished she had more friends to talk too. Rai was perfect for that whenever she was mad or sad and needed comfort(even if say wouldn't ever say so.) That's what best friends are for. But when it's your best friend that does that, what do you do then?

She didn't like being mad at him, not a single bit. IT was like hitting your cutest puppy to get it to stop doing something bad...not that she thought of him that way. But it gave the same effect of feeling really bad about it when it gives you those puppy dog eyes of sadness. She wanted to go right back out there and apologize and act like nothing happened, but her stupid pride wouldn't allow her too.

Besides, she knew they couldn't stay away from each other forever.

"Vermillion?" She heard a quiet voice call from the bedroom door.

It was Rai, looking down shamefully and seemingly like he was embrassed to admit this. "I'm sorry."

Vermillion gave a sigh of relief, glad that he was the one to take the blame. "Well it's don't do it again and we won't have any problems." She bit her tongue, realizing that came off more mean then it should have.

And by the look on Rai's face he took it that way. "...Alright.."

Vermillion's gaze softened. "...I'm sorry I yelled at you. It wasn't your fault it was mine.."

Rai perked up from the sudden apology and smiled. "Don't worry, that's what friends are for."

"...Sure." Friends...

Rai gave her a look. "...Are you okay?"

"Rai you know I trust you right?"

Rai nodded "Yeah..."

Vermillion stepped closer. "And you know I would do anything for you yeah?"

"Of course, cause I would do the same." Rai gave a confused look. "Where are you going will this Ve?"

Vermilion took a deep breath, now or never. "So you have to trust me when I say that I don't want to be friends."

That sure got Rai's attention. "Not friends? Why? I said I'm sorry Vermilion!"

"I know I know! It's just..." Vermilion thought about how to word it, wrong step and things culd go sour. "I don't want to be just friends."

"We're not. We're best friends."

Facepalm. "No I mean more then that!"

Rai was really confused. "You're not making any sense..."

"God you're an idiot."

"Now you're calling me an idiot?" Rai crossed his arms. "Vermilion I thought we could move past this. We're better friends then that."

"I know we are, I said I forgive you already." Vermilion started to get frustrated. "But that's not the point!"

"Then what IS the point?"

"The point is the maybe I kinda sorta don't like you how I used to like you, but like you completely differently, but badly differently but good differently and I want else to be that!"

"...What?"

"I LIKE YOU."

Silence fell upon them as the too stare at each other, one trying to comprehend what he just heard and the other waiting for an answer.

Rai's head was thinking of solutions. On one hand he was as happy as could be. On the other he felt like an idiot for not figuring it out. And the next he was trying to figure out what to say.

Vermilion was basically glaring at this point, but the fear it would normally inflict was gone due to the blush across her face. One filled with embrassment of this not going as she would have hoped.

And as the two stared each other down, no words came out, and they found each other being drawn closer to each other, as if their feet we doing the talking for them.

Rai was freaking out at this point, trying to stop himself from doing something he thought would be REALLY stupid, but even with the body and the gut fighting it out, the body was winning fast.

Vermilion on the other hand didn't resist, letting her body do the work, as her head couldn't comprehend what was going on and decided to let things happen.

And before either of them had a say.

They kissed.

Contrary to popular belief about kisses, no they are NOT just skin touching skin, and even if it is cliche, when you kiss someone you've wanted to for a few years, it is one of the greatest in your life. Not saying they have to go downhill from there, but for those two, it definitely was the high.

And for the first kiss to be the highest they had to be in heaven right now. And they were.

But it was only 3 seconds before they pulled apart and stare at each other. Rai was shocked, and that was apparent. So apparent in fact that Vermilion thought she did something she shouldn't have and ran out the room.

Rai stood there a moment, trying to regain his composure, failing a little. When he realized that she ran, he called after her, already to late.

"...Crap."
