Chapter 11. Gone Wrong
If there's one thing Levi hated more in the underground that wasn't dirt; it was gangs and soldiers. He hated them with a passion.
The Underground had many gangs. The top three were; The Titans, The Daggers and the most popular, The Tricksters.
The Titans were known to be the most vile. They were a group of people who can no longer get food and resort to cannibalism to keep alive. Out of all the gangs, they were the most feared. They didn't have as many members as the other gangs because lots refuse to become animals that feed on their own. Many joined just so they aren't considered prey. If any are found out to have joined for this reason or if anyone is a traitor, they are hunted down and eaten alive.
The Daggers didn't come up with their name. It was given to them because they were all handy with their daggers that they all seemed to have. The Daggers have been trying to get Levi to join their gang for his exceedingly excellent use with one despite his age. Levi refused. He wanted nothing to do with gangs. They did nothing but cause trouble on top of trouble.
The Daggers have a range from sharp to dull daggers. If you were on their hit list, whether they want information or punishment, they'd use a dull dagger to torture you with. The sharp ones were used for fast deaths such as missions they'd go on or when attacks were happening between the gangs.
The Tricksters had the most members. Not a lot was known about them. They were always the biggest mystery which was more scary than the other gangs. The leader wasn't known, the members weren't known, neither was their hideout. What was known was they couldn't be trusted. Members in the gang couldn't trust each other. Unlike the Daggers, they don't have any rules to follow by. They played dirty. They were just like the military soldiers. The only thing known was the leader was very much loved and no one would hurt him.
Levi stayed away from everyone. He wanted nothing to do with them. He could only trust Farlan and Isabelle. Farlan was the same. He was just as cautious as Levi was. Isabel knew of the gangs but had no idea what to look out for and so often relied on Levi and Farlan to take care of her.
The Titans are the oldest gang to exist in the Underground. They've been around before Levi was even born. The Daggers were formed around when Levi and Farlan were eleven and Isabel was nine. The Tricksters are rather new and yet have stormed the Underground. They became known when Levi and Farlan reached the age of sixteen and Isabel fourteen.
The five years had been difficult. Growing was extremely difficult without the right nutritional diet. They got into more fights with gangs. The only thing Levi ever came out with was a few scrapes and bruises. Farlan had lost a tooth and a few fractured bones that hadn't healed properly over the years.
When it started snowing, Isabel and Levi would gather up the snow and rest Farlan's swollen left wrist on it and then bandage the wrist tight for support. He never could move his left hand as much after that.
Isabel usually stayed out of fights because she wasn't strong like Farlan or super fast like Levi. However, she only fought for self-defence. She may act childish but Isabel was great at figuring out the weak points in the body and skilled in hiding.
But even then that wasn't enough to help her.
Isabel's downfall was her clumsiness. Once while running away, she tripped over her two feet. When Isabel didn't come back that night from food hunting, Levi and Farlan went out looking for her, preparing for the worst.
They eventually found her dumped in rubbish in an alley way mugged, stark naked and raped. The Titans found her bare body too and began to chow down, leaving bite scars. Beaten the disgusting creatures away, they tended to her.
With a blanket, they covered her and brought her back to the crack in the wall where she didn't wake up for days.
They found leaving her behind the wall wasn't good. When the air began to chill and the snow began to fall, she started to turn blue from the cold. With that, Levi had to get his friends and him a house.
They found an abandoned one room, with an entrance from an alleyway, which they were able to cover up with rubbish and boxes found. They transported Isabel there as soon as possible to the dry shelter. They were able to make a little fire but they were careful how often and long the fire lasted so people couldn't discover where they now lived.
A few times people did learn the location, but Levi slit their throats before they could do anything about it. Their bodies left to be devoured by The Titans.
They were able to collect fresh water from the crack in the wall, which they often heated up and then let it cool slightly to bathe themselves in and Isabel. They found oversized clothes for Isabel and covered in rags for blankets, often cuddling up to her at night to keep her warm.
With a wooden spoon they stole, they often poured water down Isabel's mouth to keep her hydrated as much as possible.
They never knew if what they were doing was right. They weren't qualified medics. They just did what they felt was right and hoped for the best. They soon began to give up on Isabel and waited for her passing. They couldn't decide what to do with her body and often had arguments. They couldn't let her go to The Titans, they couldn't dump her on the street for necrophiliacs, they didn't have any way of burying her nor have the time before they get caught by the military or any of the gangs, and they couldn't keep her in the room with them.
To their surprise and relief, Isbael woke up. She was rather weak and hadn't properly recovered the same after that, same as Farlan. She didn't go alone out much after that. She was usually accompanied by either Levi or Farlan.
...
Isabel was behind the rag they had hung up in the room for privacy of washing and changing. They each were going through their own changes. They didn't care if they had to see for medical reasons but other than that, they'd like to have their own time not sharing.
Growing into a woman caused problems. Running wasn't a great idea for her newly developed boobs. They always seemed to draw unwanted attention for Isabelle not to mention they kept getting in her way. She never understood why they got bigger. To help with the situation, she began binding her chest with some bandages to keep them secure and tight.
Isabel looked down at herself and wondered, was she beautiful?
She felt stupid thinking it. Beauty was the last of her problems and in the Underground, being beautiful brought more misfortune on you. And yet, it still buzzed through her mind.
After bandaging up her breasts and putting on her clothes, she let her hair out of her usual pigtails and trapped brushing her locks out with just her fingers.
"Big brother?" She pulled back the curtain to look at Levi.
She knew he wasn't asleep. Levi rarely sleeps. He usually just rests his eyes while staying full alert.
"Promise not to get mad at me?" She fiddled with her fingers.
At that Levi opened his eyes and stared at her in a flash.
"What did you do?" He asked coldly and sternly.
"Oh nothing, nothing. I was just wondering..." She came walking out swaying her hands as she said nothing.
Levi raised an eyebrow. Isabel crouched into a ball beside him and looked at the ground holding her breath while Levi's stare grew dangerous.
"I know it's stupid and pointless and not at all important and shouldn't be the last thing on my mind but...am I...am I beautiful?"
She closed her eyes waiting for a rant of how stupid, pointless, not important, and how that shouldn't even be on her mind at all from Levi. However, there was silence.
Levi tapped the back of her bowed head with his fist gently and grabbed his pipe to smoke. Isabel looked up at Levi slowly to see him staring at her with amused eyes with a rather stern face.
"Idiot." Was all he was able to say.
It took a few seconds for Isabel to process what was said. She held her breath and her face began to grow bright red.
"Big brother, you're such a meanie!" She reached over and began swing her arms at Levi to hit, but she couldn't because he held her arms length away with only his left arm held out; hand placed on Isabel's face.
She then stopped and huffed like a little child. Levi grabbed her hair and pulled her closer to him.
"Eugh," he looked at it in disgust. "It's filthy. "
Isabel responds with rolling her eyes. "Let go!" She pulls back and starts tying her hair up with string.
"If you can't wash yourself properly, I'll scrub you with a brush myself." Levi stated.
At this point they turned their heads to the scuffling outside. Levi grabbed his weapon as usual. The door opens and Farlan came in, fixing the rubbish from the doorway to hide the door before closing it.
Levi and Isabel relaxed but still stared at Farlan waiting for his news.
"Soldiers have brought guns and food to sell in the black market." Farlan confirmed.
Levi looked over at Isabel who nodded.
They began their raid on the Military Police.
...
They stood there thinking they were something. They had big smiles on their faces, kicking those in the street who couldn't even stand on their feet. They liked to feel big by putting those around them down.
Levi didn't see them big as they wanted him to see them as. He saw something lower than dirt. They were even lower than the scum that hugged the bottom of his boots.
"Everyone sure on the plan?" Farlan asked before proceeding.
Isabel and Levi both nodded. Farlan nodded back.
There was only two of them. They were different from all the other soldiers the three had stabbed, slit throats and strangled before. They didn't have guns in their hand.
"Why do they have blades in their hands and strange boxes at the side of their bodies with more blades inside instead of a gun?" Isabel asked quietly.
3DMG
Levi gave a look to Farlan.
"Doesn't change a thing." Farlan confirmed to Levi.
"We have to be faster in our get away." The sharp eyed boy murmured.
They counted down and took a deep breath before splitting. Farlan stayed on the spot, looking at the soldiers from the right side while Isabel and Levi made their way around the small run down building.
When they reached the back, Levi cupped his two hands together and bent on one knee for Isabel. She placed her filthy boot onto Levi's hand.
"Disgusting," Levi couldn't help but twist his face in utter hatred.
Isbael pulled a face where she did the childish thing and let her bottom lip become larger to form a pout.
"Don't fuck up this time Isabel." Levi warned her.
"Yeah, yeah." She muttered as he pushed her up to the roof.
Quickly, he wiped his hands on a rag he carries around with him and moved to the left of the building eyeing Farlan.
They both looked up at the building to see Isbel quietly crawling over the rooftop to look down on the soldiers below. She was a cat on the prowl. The two boys readied themselves.
Isbel studied her surrounding and nodded to Farlan.
Farlan looked around just to be on the safe side. He nodded back to Isabel. With a final nod from the red head, both boys immediately came sprinting out of the shadows. Levi was exceedingly faster than Farlan. The soldier closest to him had no time to react as Levi stuck a blade directly into her neck and let her bleed out in seconds. The blonde's hair stained red as she dropped to the ground. The male soldier prepared himself to fight the small boy.
Levi spat on the dead soldier and wiped his knife with the rag seemingly careless to the other. This infuriated the other soldier more.
Giving out a large battle cry he began to move but not very far as Farlan came up and pierced his knife into the back if the skull. The blade was long enough to come out on the other side of his head and Farlan was strong enough for it to do so.
Farlan and Levi began to collect their items. They need equal amounts of food and guns to survive. They threw in the stale bread and few guns.
"Whoo!" The noisy girl on the roof cheered. "Yeah!" She fist pump too.
"Isbel!" Farlan yelled up at her while Levi removed the 3DMG from the woman. "You're suppose to be on look out!"
"I am looking out!" She sneered. "See!" She stood up and looked from left to right. "Nothin!"
"What about from behi-" before he could even say it, a large sound of tiles breaking caught their attention.
Isabel went to investigate hearing a sliding sound too. Before she could even reach the end of the house, three soldiers closed in on her.
Isabel let out a gasp of horror. How did they get up so fast?!
She made a run to the other end off the roof and kept off ready for Levi or Farlan to catch her, placing her trust in the two boys.
They watched as a grappling hook came from behind her and smashed into a building in front. Isabel had the soldiers arms wrapped round her before she could even hit the ground below.
They zoomed passed Levi and Farlan hearing the cries of their teammate.
"BIG BROTHER!"
"Tch, shit." Levi mumbled.
"What the fuck are we going to do?!"
Levi looked at the 3DMG he was inspecting and began to buckle up into it.
"You get the rest, I'll get the fuck up." Levi said.
"Do you know how to even use them?"
He looked at the blades in his hand. Not knowing what to do, he squeezed both bars into the handles and both his blades fell out.
"Tch, that did fuck all."
"Ya think?!"
He pressed the top switch on the right and a grappling hook came shooting out to hit the top do a building. He pressed top left and another came shooting out to join the right.
"That did something."
Pressing the bottom right, he went scooting across the ground. He let go and found he was hanging from his right hip. Pressing the bottom left he evened himself out so that he was hanging off the fall.
"Interesting now how do I get these to let g-" he pressed both the right and left top bottom and the grappling hooked let him go.
Farlan watched as Levi fell to the ground on his back.
"Stop messing about and get Isabel!" He yelled.
"Tch, it's harder than it look...I think I got it."
"Great! Then go!"
Levi stuck the two handles onto his side and blades clicked into place. Using his new found knowledge, he began flying in the air.
Steadying himself proved a little difficult at first. He required great balance and muscle strength to keep himself up straight and move his hips to move a certain direction. If a normal person was asked to go on this they'd be hanging upside down and smashing into walls. Levi was just lucky.
He had the strength and balance required but saying as it was his first time, he was little shaky on it. He could see the soldiers in the distance flying off and he readied himself for a second time that day.
Running on the rooftops at the speed he runs at gave him a boost when he threw himself into the air. At this point he may catch up.
Very late in updating but I got some exciting news in that I'll be going to university in about 2 weeks and I've got to get ready ready ready! Hope you enjoy this chapter! I think I've finally figured out a plot for it. At first I was thinking let's not have a real plot. Let's just have some mini adventures here and there of Levi's, Isbelle's and Farlan's time underground. And while there will be lots of random adventures and maybe I can draw out an overall story plot.
