Adrienne Kiriakis stood stunned outside Will's apartment, staring at Marlena hoping she would say something that would tell Adrienne she had misunderstood the conversation. She had come to Will's apartment to confront him about Sonny, and had seen Sonny walking down the stairs and leaving the Pub extremely upset. She didn't understand why Will could not just leave Sonny alone, and was going to demand that he do, otherwise she would get Victor involved. She had told Sonny she would watch Ari, but when she came into the Pub with Ari and saw that Sonny had left without even noticing them, she left her quickly with Caroline so she could have a talk with Will.

But she never expected to overhear that Will had been raped. And if she heard the conversation correctly, Will had not told anyone except Marlena about what had happened to him. So Sonny had no idea. 'And maybe that was a good thing' she thought to herself.

"Marlena?"

Marlena sighed. Of all the people who could have overheard the conversation, it had to be Adrienne Kiriakis. She didn't know why Adrienne was here, but she had a feeling it was not for a good thing. Adrienne had never fully supported Will and Sonny being together, and while she had come a long way since the boys first got together, she quickly reverted back once the boys separated and divorced. In her mind, Will was never good enough for her son, and she wanted Will as far away from Sonny as possible.

"What are you doing here, Adrienne?"

"I wanted to talk to Will. I didn't mean to overhear your conversation, but did I hear you correctly? Will was raped?"

"I can't talk about this with you, Adrienne. This is none of your business."

"It is if it involves my son, it is my business. I came here because Sonny has been upset about Will, and Will needs to let Sonny move on with his life."

Before Marlena could say anything, the door quickly opened and Will said, "I told Sonny to move on with his life. I want him to leave me alone."

Adrienne was stunned by the look on Will's face. His eyes were sunken in and had dark circles around them, like he had not slept in weeks. His clothes were hanging off his body, and he looked pale. She now realized what she heard was true. Will had been attacked and raped. Despite how she felt about Will, this truly broke her heart as no one deserved to be attacked like that.

Will had heard what Adrienne said to Marlena, and he wasn't sure what he was more upset about- the fact that Adrienne now knew what happened to him, or the fact that she was coming to yell at him and tell him to leave her son alone. Before the cheating incident, he truly thought he had Adrienne had come a long way in their relationship. But it was obvious she was always going to see him as Sami Brady's son. Didn't seem to matter that there were rumors going around of her having an affair with his father, all that mattered was that Sonny was hurt once again by Will.

"Will, I don't…"

"Don't bother Adrienne. I told you, I told Sonny to leave me alone. I gave him his freedom, and as long as he sticks to the custody agreement we drew up, then I won't bother him. I won't bother any of you."

Both Marlena and Adrienne were taken aback by the resigned sound in Will's voice. Marlena became concerned and reached out towards Will, but Will shrugged her off and walked out of the apartment. He had wanted to lie down and rest, but now felt too antsy and like the walls were caving in. He didn't want to see or talk to anyone, he just wanted space and fresh air. He ignored Marlena as she called out to him and rushed down the stairs and out of the pub, thankful it was still quiet enough that no one noticed him.

Marlena sighed helplessly watching Will rush away. She was afraid that he would try to run away as soon as people found out what happened to him. And the fact that Adrienne now knew was something that was going to be a huge problem for Will. Adrienne had a tendency to gossip and stick her nose where it didn't belong. Her heart was usually in the right place, but this was going to be too much for Will if Adrienne started telling people what happened to him.

She looked Adrienne in the eye. "You need to keep what you know to yourself. Will does not want anyone knowing what happened to him."

Adrienne got offended by her statement. "I'm not going to go blasting it out to everyone. Besides, the way Will looks, people are already starting to wonder what is going on with him. People know something happened. If Will wanted to hide it, he needs to do a better job."

"That doesn't matter. Let people talk. What matters is that Will needs to feel safe and tell people on his own time. He needs to know people are there for him, and not just gossiping about him again. He has enough of that already."

Adrienne scoffed. "Well, he deserves the gossip. If he didn't cheat on my son…"

"That is enough!" Marlena erupted. "Will made a mistake, yes, and it cost him the man that he loves. He is trying to move past what happened, and care for his daughter. He and Sonny are doing the best that they can to move on from what happened, and provide enough care and love for Ari. If you ask me, and I know you don't want to hear this, but I hope Sonny stays in Will's life. He is going to need people to help him get through this experience."

With that, Marlena walked past Adrienne, who stood in the hallway shocked, unable to process what had happened. She eventually shook herself out of her stupor and walked back through the pub and out the door. She really did feel bad for Will, it was obvious he was having a hard time dealing with what had happened. She still felt that Sonny was better off not being involved in Will's life, especially now. She just needed to figure out a way to make that happen.

Meanwhile, Will was so lost in his thoughts that he barely noticed where he was walking. He couldn't believe that Sonny had come over and what had happened between them, and then Adrienne Kiriakis of all people now knew what had happened to him. He was sure now more than ever that she would do whatever she could to make sure Sonny stayed out of Will's life. And Will just couldn't find it in him to care. As long as Sonny was still there for Ari, Will would happily fade into the background. He would watch Sonny move on with Paul or whoever and ride happily into the sunset. It would probably kill him, but there was nothing he could do. He was too tired to try anymore.

He broke out of his stupor when he nearly tripped over a rock. He looked around and realized he was at the lake. He stared out at the water, remembering all the happy times he had spent at the lake. Unfortunately, those happy times usually involved Sonny, and that caused his heart to break all over again. He sat on the rock and stared out at the water, staring into nothing. A part of him thought that the water looked so inviting, and maybe it would cleanse him of all the negativity he had going around him.

Tears ran down his face as he thought about everything he had done wrong in his life. How he had only hurt the people he claimed to love. He had everything he could ever want, and he ruined it all. He took everything for granted, and now he felt so lost. And he had no one to blame but himself. He had the perfect guy and family and he lost it all. For what? Someone who didn't matter and who was going to get everything that Will lost. Paul was going to get a family and Sonny, and nothing Will did could stop it. He wasn't sure he even wanted to stop it anymore. If Sonny was going to be happy again, then it didn't matter to Will who Sonny was with.

Will was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear anyone come up behind him. Sonny stared at Will's hunched back, studying him and his demeanor. Will looked like he wanted to jump into the water and swim away from here, or crawl in a hole and die. Sonny couldn't remember ever seeing Will like this. Even when Nick was blackmailing Will to keep him away from Ari, Will still had some life in him. He knew Will had a tough childhood and suffered from depression at times, but Sonny had never seen Will like this.

He quietly walked up to Will and stood next to him. "Are you thinking about going swimming?"

Will was startled by Sonny's appearance and quickly wiped his face of the tears that had streaked down, but not quickly enough. It pained Sonny to see Will in so much pain and so sad, and he wished there was something he could do to make things better. He wanted to gather Will in his arms and hold him, letting him know that nothing bad will happen to him. He reached out to touch Will on his shoulder, but Will flinched violently and jumped away.

Sonny was startled by this. He held his hands up in surrender and said, "It's okay, it's just me."

But Will turned away and stared out at the water, wondering how deep the lake went, and how far out it went. He never truly explored it, but he had heard rumors that there were bodies hidden at the bottom.

"You look like you are thinking about jumping in the water."

Will shrugged.

Sonny was so thrown by how Will was acting that he felt like he was grasping at anything to say and fill the silence. "It's a little too cool for that. But when it gets warmer out we should take Ari out here. She loved it last year."

Will smiled slightly, and then it fell. "You should take her. She does love being outside and playing by the lake."

Something in Will's tone and his words caught Sonny's attention and made him concerned. "Why do you sound like you won't be around to do that with her as well?"

Will continued to stare out at the water, not wanting to answer Sonny's question. He didn't want to admit that he was contemplating not being around. That would just opening too many cans of worms that he did not want to deal with.

But Will's silence was enough for Sonny. And the thought of Will not being around hurt Sonny so much more than anything else that had happened. Was Will actually talking about disappearing or worse? That he would hurt himself or kill himself? Sonny could not let that happen. No matter what, Will was needed in this world.

"Will? Please, just talk to me. I know I pushed you away before and maybe now I don't have a right to keep coming back, but no matter what has happened or will happen, I still care about you and hate to see you hurting. I know something happened to you. Whatever it is, just tell me."

Will took a deep breath. He was too tired and his defenses were low, so there was nothing to hold in the words anymore. He couldn't keep it in.

"I was raped."

Sonny wasn't sure what he was expecting to hear, and had contemplated all the horrible scenarios that could have happened to Will, but to actually hear the words out loud was like a punch to the gut.

"What?" he could barely squeak out.

Will turned back to look at Sonny with a dead and neutral look on his face, and was actually surprised at himself for being able to say the words. "Last week I was attacked by three guys, beaten and raped." He said everything so matter of fact that Sonny couldn't say anything. Will shrugged and continued. "You wanted to know what happened. I was at The Spot, trying to get my mind off of the fact that I destroyed my family and lost the best thing that ever happened to me. But it wasn't working, so I left. Some guys followed me, and then propositioned me. When I said no and tried to walk away, one of them beat me with a pipe. They all joined in, and then held me down as they took turns."

Hearing the facts of what happened, and how Will seemed to be so causal about telling him what happened, caused Sonny to feel sick. And then rage. Someone had attacked Will and hurt him in the worst way possible. Sonny was conflicted between wanting to gather Will in his arms and never letting go, or finding the guys who did this and showing them what it means to be a Kiriakis.

Will just stared at Sonny, not sure of what else to say. Sonny finally spoke. "I don't know what to say."

Will only shrugged. "I don't want you to say anything. I probably should not have told you what happened, but I'm just so tired, so you caught me at a weak moment. I don't want anyone to know, so please respect that. What I want is to get some sleep and for people to just for forget about me and leave me alone."

While Sonny could respect the fact that Will did not want anyone to know, he couldn't actually follow through with Will's other request. "Will, you can't just expect that I will forget about what happened."

"Yes I can. Look, your mom came by my apartment after you left. I guess she came to tell me to leave you alone, and she overheard what happened to me. She probably still wants me to stay away from you, even more so now that she knows what happened, so that is what I am trying to do. Leave you alone and let you move on with your life. I only want to keep to the custody agreement for Ari, and just let go of everything else. Please, just forget about me and leave me alone."

With that, Will turned and walked away from Sonny. He felt so broken and decimated, and needed to be alone. He couldn't stay near Sonny any longer, or he would collapse into his arms. He needed to stay away from Sonny. For both of them.

Sonny stared at Will as he walked away, too stunned to do anything or say anything. He couldn't believe what Will had just told him. Will had not only been attacked, but gang raped by three men. Sonny was not sure what to do. And Will just expected him to walk away and forget about it, and forget about Will? No chance. None. Sonny was not going to walk away anymore. He didn't care what anyone said, especially his mom. It made him angrier to know that Adrienne had sought Will out and wanted to tell him to stay away from Sonny. On top of that, she know knew Will's secret, and he prayed she did not tell anyone else.

Sonny suddenly had an idea of why Will didn't want anyone to know what happened to him. The whole town would probably turn it around to make it into Will's fault. It sickened Sonny to think about that, but it was a big possibility. What scared Sonny even more was the fact that Will almost looked like he was considering hurting himself, or worse. That scared Sonny. He wanted Will to be around. Maybe it was not fair to want Will to be around while not forgiving him for his mistakes so they could be together again, but it was how he felt. How could he leave Will alone knowing that someone out there had attacked Will and hurt him in one of the worst ways possible?

Sonny suddenly realized he needed to get back to the mansion. His mom was supposed to be watching Ari, but if she had gone to confront Will, then who was watching his daughter? That almost angered him as much as what had happened to Will. He needed to make it very clear that his mom needed to stay out his life. If he wanted Will Horton to stay in his life, Will was going to stay. He just needed to figure out how to make that happen.

Author's Note- So here is the big reveal. I originally was not going to have Sonny find out until the next chapter, but I think this works better. What will Adrienne do with the information that she knows?

Just a side note- I do like Adrienne, but think sometimes she is too nosey and in people's face when it comes to Sonny. I hope this does not offend anyone, I plan to have her become a little better as the story progresses. I will say that this story is NOT a death story, but there will be undertones of possible suicide and depression.
