The atmosphere in Russia Sushi was tense, as the people noticed the two most dangerous men of Ikebukuro in the same place yet the place wasn't destroyed.
Of course, news travelled fast and by now most of Ikebukuro knew the Monster of Ikebukuro was married. Those in Russia Sushi confirmed for themselves with their own eyes the existence of the blonde woman near Heiwajima Shizuo, who was likely his wife.
Some women whispered amongst themselves that the strongest man of Ikebukuro was actually a good catch – without his anger and violence, his good looks and handsome face seemed to be more apparent, and it was such a pity he was already married. Some men looked in envy at him for having such a beauty as his wife, their eyes on the blonde beauty with breathtaking blue eyes by his side.
Izaya was aware of all this, but he couldn't care less. He finished the last of his ootoro and got up from his seat.
He strode out of the restaurant as he felt eyes on him. He thought he heard someone call his name but thought it was his imagination until his arm was grabbed.
Izaya stopped. The tension in the air couldn't be cut with his knife.
"…..Let me go."
Silence answered him. Izaya tried to tug his arm away but the grip was tight.
"…What do you want, Shizuo?"
Shizuo looked conflicted.
Izaya looked at him.
"….You have five seconds."
Izaya said when Shizuo didn't seem to want to speak anytime soon.
"5."
- Five seconds to break my heart
"4."
With the tension in the room, Izaya's countdown might as well have been a ticking time bomb.
"3."
"I-"
"2."
"I wanted to ask you!"
It almost seemed as if Shizuo was stumbling over his words. Izaya stared at him, at the awkwardness but determination on his face.
Futile hope rose in Izaya's heart.
"What…is it?"
- Is he going to say sorry?
- Did he find out about what that damn crow did to me?
- No wait she's here so it can't be
- But he isn't talking to her that much and there seems to be tension between them
- Or is it just my imagination?
- I mean what else could he say –
The running thoughts through Izaya's head were cut off when Shizuo inhaled, then spoke.
"I mean, my blazer. Yeah. My blazer. You know, the white one. Uh yeah it was white. The one I – anyway I….discovered I was missing it. Is it with you….fl-I-Izaya?"
The hands of hope released their grasp, and Izaya felt as if his heart had crashed against the bottom of his stomach.
"….Yeah. It's with me."
"Ah. Is that so –"
"Yeah. But obviously I don't have it with me right now."
- Why the hell are we discussing about a damn blazer
"Y-Yeah. Yeah I know that. So –"
"I'll send it to you."
"Huh?"
"I'll get it washed and dry cleaned and send it over to you through mail."
"No that's fine. That would be too much trouble, I can just –"
"No? Then I'll send someone to send it to you and your wife's home."
"What –"
"What, no too? Or, you're moving to Russia? Well nice knowing you. Should I give you my email so you can email me the address –"
"Hah? No! I'm staying in Ikebukuro! Who ever said I was leaving Japan?!"
"Oh I don't know. I thought you would want to meet your wife's father, you know meet the family –"
"What? No, as far as I know –"
"Yes, how astute, Orihara Izaya."
"….."
"Vorona?" Shizuo said in surprise as Izaya stared emotionlessly.
"We are meeting my father aren't we, Shizuo?"
"Huh? We are?"
"Yes. We are."
"R-Really."
"Right." Izaya said. His voice was hoarse.
"Right. So, I doubt Drakon is coming to Japan, so I assume you're going off to Russia with your wife. So about your precious blazer –"
"I can come over to take it." Shizuo said and Izaya stared. "I mean- if you don't mind, that is."
"….Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting?"
"Huh?"
"Nothing." Izaya said. "Nothing at all. Suit yourself. I'll contact you, so I'd appreciate it if you would let me go."
"But I don't have your number."
"I have yours." Izaya said quietly.
"So…..just let me go."
Shizuo started, as if he had just realized he was still holding onto Izaya's wrist. He paused, then released his grip, and Izaya moved away, turning his head slightly to the blonde woman and blond man.
"If there's nothing else, I'm leaving. Good day to you, Heiwajima Shizuo," he flicked his gaze.
"…..Heiwajima Vorona."
And then he left, leaving silence behind in his wake.
…
As Izaya walked along the familiar streets of Ikebukuro filled with lively people, he felt something wet slide down his face.
Izaya raised his hand and wiped the single tear that had fallen, ducked into an alleyway and leaned against the wall in darkness.
Unlike yesterday, he made no sound as he shed tears involuntarily. He just stared forward, as if at nothing, as if he wasn't crying.
He felt a dull nothingness, even the pain was dull as if he had felt too much pain to be able to feel that extent of pain anymore.
-Russia huh. You're going to Russia to meet her father huh.
-Go then.
- Just…go.
There was silence in both his surroundings and his thoughts for a moment.
- And you.
- You fucking crow
- Just take him
- Have him
- He was never mine
- Even if I was always his
- Even if he was the only human whom I ever wanted
- He chose you didn't he
- He chose you
- I loved him until I hurt, until I hated hurting, suffering for him – and hated him -
- Hated him who never even considered me
Izaya's back slid down against the wall. He buried his face in his knees, huddling them close to himself.
"So go….and just leave me alone."
No one heard the empty words which echoed in the desolated alleyway.
…
…
He made his way through the streets of Ikebukuro in a listless daze, a plastic smile on his face.
Had anyone asked, Izaya might have been honest and told them the reason for that smile was psychological –
Because he felt if he didn't smile, he would be overwhelmed with emotions he didn't know how to deal with, and break down.
Because he felt as if he didn't, it would mean he had lost even the ability to lie to himself.
So he smiled, smiled and pretended everything was okay, just like in the past –
As if his heart hadn't just been shattered into bits and pieces.
That's right.
Step. Step. Smile.
There's nothing wrong.
Step. Skip. Smile.
How could there be anything wrong?
Smile.
I'm Orihara Izaya. I don't experience 'wrong'
Grin.
I make things wrong.
Izaya's eyes weren't smiling.
But Izaya couldn't see his eyes, he could only feel his mouth stretched in a paper thin smile, and so he smiled.
And smiled.
And smiled….
…
…
…
So I decided to write something for Izaya's birthday here and it turned out to be this. Um...he's a bastard so he deserves it? Lol. Sorry, sorry...at least it's an update right?
Anyway, Happy Birthday Izaya! Hey he gets Shizuo in 15 signs of a crush (on my tumblr) so it's not so bad, right? And he probably has all the girls' attention in Japan anyway lol. And it just so happened that something bad happened to me today on his birthday and since everything is Izaya's fault I'm just getting my revenge.
Kidding. Ah, my mistake, Vorona has no last name (see what happens when you're lazy and rely on wiki). But I'm too lazy to change it and Vorona isn't her real name anyway, so...oh Vorona was lying. Shizuo and her aren't going to meet her father. Well, they weren't going to at least. But Izaya doesn't know. He isn't the only one jealous.
