Heeeeeeere's Galen! I'm sorry for taking so long to update this story! I'll just get this out there and say this: College sucks. It drains all enthusiasm for writing. I had a good month where I couldn't get anything down and it was only a few weeks ago that I got over my writer's block and started up again. I've been updating my other stories as well, so you should check them out!
This story has also had its altercations. All of the chapters except Ch. 10 have been updated by this point, so it might be a good idea to re-read the story and catch up on the details.
So now that is out of the way, here's the long awaited Chapter 11: Back on the Road
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon or Frozen, or any of the characters in them. However, they're welcome to camp out at my place.
Edit- 3/some date/17: Basic editing.

Elsa woke up the next morning early. The sun had barely risen over the mountains to the east when Elsa stirred. She opened her eye and out of force of habit, opened the other one. Using her senses, she could feel Aren was on top of her, or rather on her arm since she was on her side. Making sure she didn't make the same mistake she did yesterday morning, Elsa carefully lifted Aren off of her so she could get up without sending Aren to the floor again. Luckily, Aren slept on and didn't notice that his trainer had gotten up.
Making as little noise as possible, Elsa moved take one of those showers to wash herself, still getting used to working the faucets. After drying herself and braiding her hair, she then changed her clothes, since the ones that she had with her were being washed in the 'washing machine'. Elsa put on one of her purple skirts and chose the top that was similar to her coronation outfit. She looked in the mirror to make sure everything was fitting properly and after straightening out some wrinkles. Nodding to herself she quietly exited the room.
However on the bed, a figure stirred. Aren lifted up his head, eyes still closed, and yawned, showing some teeth in it. After he was finished, he opened his eyes and blinked. Huh, Elsa's gone, he thought. I wonder why she's up so early. He shook his head and jumped off the bed. Might as well find out. He stumbled a bit still waking up, but managed to straighten himself out by the time he got to the door.
He looked up and sighed to himself. Why did she have to close the door? Don't humans think about four-legged Pokémon close to the floor? He crouched, then sprung up, hooking one of his paws around the door handle and pulled it down, opening it. After swinging back a bit, he let go and pushed the door fully open, walking out into the hallway.
Aren came down the stairs and found Elsa rummaging around the cabinets obviously looking for something. "What are you looking for?"
Elsa jumped a bit, almost knocking something out of the cabinet but saving it. "Oh Aren! Sorry, you startled me." She said.
"It's my fault anyway, sorry." Aren said. But it was funny to watch, he thought to himself. He crouched and jumped up onto the counter. "So what are you looking for?" He asked again.
Elsa moved over and said, "I am looking for…" She opened the door and smiled, "There we go." She reached in and pulled out a packet of tea. "This." She said, holding it triumphantly.
"Ah." Aren said in understanding, and then frowned. I never get all the drinks humans have right, there's so many of them. It's… "Tea, right?"
Elsa nodded and grabbed a cup from another cabinet. "Yes, now all I need to do is heat up some water and then I can drink it." She rummaged around some more and finally found the teapot. "Here it is." She murmured to herself. She poured some water into it and then put the pot on the stove. Then she was lost. "Uhh…"
Aren snickered a bit. It seems Elsa is as clueless to technology as I am. Well, maybe more so. "Try pushing that button." Aren said, pointing to a larger rubber knob. Elsa tried it and a few seconds later they had a small fire going in the stove. Elsa put the lid of the pot on and waited for it to boil. The two just waited in silence for a while.
"So, why are you up so early?" Aren asked, curious as to his trainer's reasoning.
"Habit I guess." Elsa said hesitantly. "Being a queen means that you don't get very much sleep. Even though I've only been the queen for six months, the paperwork has been enormous." She gave a rueful laugh. "I partially started to shut Anna out again, but this time for a completely different reason." There was a beat of silence. "It is better- was better, than never seeing her. But it made it even more painful that now- then, I could see her but at the same time couldn't. Definitely better than wanting to and not being able to."
"So what would you two do when you had time?" Aren asked, making simple conversation. "I assume Anna wanted you to use your powers, right?"
Elsa smirked. "She never got enough of them. Everyday she would come and attempt to drag me off somewhere so I could use my magic." Elsa frowned a bit, remembering some things.
"What is it?"
"Even now, a part of me is still afraid of using my magic. When we played, I always held back, which is good, I think. It shows that I still have some measure of control."
Why do I get the feeling that Elsa's holding something back, Aren wondered. "You make that sound like a bad thing."
"Oh no, it's not!" Elsa corrected. "…But I wonder what I can truly do sometimes. When I mean to!" Elsa added, "I know I can start an unending winter, but obviously there was no place for me to test it. I never used my powers until my coronation. They usually spat out at random times, sometimes at the smallest of things. It got so bad that I couldn't touch anything without gloves on, otherwise the thing would freeze in a matter of seconds."
Aren thought about what Elsa was saying. "I guess all those years of bottling it up intensified the magic, making it hypersensitive."
"I guess so too." Elsa said with a smile. "I think my magic doesn't like to be kept unused. It's like it has a mind of its own sometimes…"
Aren gave the human equivalent of a shrug, but then picked something up on his hearing. "Hey Elsa? I think the water is about to boil."
"Oh, you're right, thank you." Elsa said and went to handle her tea.
Aren still sat on the counter watching his trainer. I wonder what it feels like to be her. I can choose when to use an attack but Elsa seems to lose control. Maybe I can help her with her own powers. That thought suddenly struck him. Yea, why not? I might not have that much power but I have the control. I can tell her what to do and how to get a better grip on her magic so she won't be scared of it!
"What's gotten you excited Aren?" Elsa asked, her back to him, focusing on the tea.
"I just thought of something, what if I could help you control your magic?" Aren asked.
Elsa turned around, dipping the tea bag in the steaming water. "What do you propose?"
She certainly has a way of words, Aren thought. "We could help each other. I could get stronger and you could learn control!"
"By battling?" Elsa asked.
Aren shrugged, "Not necessarily. We could just practice together."
Elsa blew on the tea and took a sip. "Maybe. Remember we're going to be traveling with Cynthia for a while, and…"
Aren sighed. "Really Elsa?"
"I'm sorry. I just don't think I can tell Cynthia yet."
"So when is she going to find out? When you lose control again?" Aren shook his head. "Come on Elsa. Are you going to learn?"
Elsa closed her blue eyes and took another sip of tea. "Aren, I want to do it right. I'm not going to suddenly spring it on her out of the blue, nor am I going to lose control again."
"Can you be sure?"
Elsa then fixed Aren with a glare that made him feel cold. "I will help you become stronger, but I don't think I'm the battling type."
That's a dodge if I've ever seen one, Aren thought. Why is she so hesitant to directly confront this? What's the worst that could happen? However Aren didn't say this out loud and humored Elsa's change. "Yes you are. You were excellent in that battle against that jerk Fredric." He growled a bit.
"That's not nice, and besides you did all the work. What did I do?" Elsa said.
"You commanded me, you told me what to do." Aren said simply.
"But couldn't you have battled by yourself?" Elsa asked.
"No." Aren said, and judging by her face, she hadn't expected that response. "You're my trainer now and I depend on you to tell me what to do in battles."
Elsa frowned, "So you lose free will?"
Aren paused and thought for a moment. You know, I never really thought about it until now. Did I lose all free will? What exactly does happen when you're captured? "I'm not sure. Not all of it I think. Obviously I still can act on my own, but, think of it as we're connected. I rely on you more now."
Elsa's frown deepened. "Sounds a bit like slavery."
Now it was Aren's turn to frown. "It's only like that if you treat it like that. I've heard of humans abusing Pokémon from other wild Pokémon. You need to have a cruel heart to do that, and Elsa, you couldn't come close if you tried." Aren said truthfully.
That left Elsa speechless for a moment, her mouth agape. Then a smile formed on her face, a genuine smile. "Thank you Aren." She took another sip of tea.
"So is that a yes on the battling?"
Elsa snorted, "We'll see."
Humph, I guess that's the best I'll get right now, Aren thought. He quirked his ears up a bit. "Somebody's awake."
Elsa looked up from her tea. "And she's coming down here." Sure enough, there was a soft shuffling sound coming from the living room, signifying somebody walking and wearing slippers.
A few seconds later, Cynthia appeared, still half asleep. However she paused slightly when she saw Elsa and Aren, and then nodded groggily in acknowledgement of their presence.
"Somebody isn't a morning person." Aren said.
Elsa nodded in agreement. "Good morning Cynthia." She said. Cynthia mumbled something and Elsa frowned, amusement in her eyes, "What was that?"
Cynthia just glared at Elsa and said louder, "Coffee first, talk later."
Aren lost it and started laughing so hard her rolled off the counter. Elsa herself covered her mouth and laughed, albeit not as loudly as he did. Cynthia ignored them and went directly to the coffee maker and grabbed a cup. Since it was already on and made, Cynthia just poured. Once it was almost to the brim, she put the pot back and took a sip. She closed her eyes and moaned in pleasure, then went right back into it.
Halfway through the cup Cynthia blinked rapidly and some of the fog that covered her eyes went away. She turned to Elsa and Aren and said, "Morning."
Aren chuckled again. It's almost like that time I stayed with a pack of Bidoof for a week, he thought. Then he amended that thought, Bunch of idiots they were. Banishing that train of thought, he looked up at Elsa. "Hey, is there anything for me to eat? I'm kinda' hungry."
"Oh sure." Elsa said, then to Cynthia, "Where is the food for Aren?"
Cynthia just pointed at a cabinet behind Elsa, still drinking the coffee and not talking. Elsa opened it and looked around briefly before finding the bag of food for Aren. She got a plate and poured some food on it. Smells good, Aren thought. Elsa put the plate down on the floor and Aren dug in. Just a tiny bit bland though, he thought.
"Want something else?" Elsa asked.
Aren looked up in mild surprise, "… No."
"You hesitated."
"I was thinking." Aren paused again. "The food's just a little bland though."
Elsa frowned thinking. "Would you like something to go with it?"
Aren shrugged as best he could. "I don't know. Something a little chillier maybe. Guess it's a type thing."
Elsa looked around and noticed Cynthia had moved out of the kitchen. She quirked an eyebrow and held her hand over the Pokémon food. A slight dusting of snowflakes came out of her hands and floated down onto the place, covering the food so it glittered in the light.
Aren looked at his trainer. "Snowflakes? Really?"
Elsa shrugged, "Chilliest thing I could think of. Try it."
Aren looked down at the food. I admit, it does look more appetizing now. Aren tentatively took a piece and chewed it. There was a two second beat. Holy Mew! This is the best tasting food I've ever had! Aren dug in even more.
Aren could tell Elsa had a smirk on her face. "Glad you approve." She said amusedly.
"This is the best thing I've had ever!" Aren said. Or tried to say if his mouth wasn't filled with food. It came out more like a series of grunts and sounds.
"What?"
Aren swallowed. "This is the best thing I've ever tasted!"
Elsa quirked an eyebrow, "Just adding those made it better?"
"Hey, what can I say, your magic is tasty."
Elsa broke out laughing at the absurd but true comment. After a moment Aren started laughing too. I guess that was pretty ridiculous. His ears perked up once more as he heard another set of footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Well somebody is an early riser." Carolina said as she came down in a robe. "Always start the day with a laugh, you'll live longer."
Elsa calmed down but still had a smile on her face. "Good morning Carolina."
"And good morning to you Elsa." She replied, also going for the coffee. "Tell me, are you a tea or coffee drinker?"
"A bit of both actually." Elsa said. "When I'm already awake in the mornings, I drink tea, but if not, well, let's just say that I'm worse than Cynthia and on par with Emily." She said with a smirk.
"Strong coffee then huh?" Elsa nodded.
"Need it for early morning meetings." Elsa said nonchalantly, sipping at her tea.
Carolina made a noncommittal grunt and took a gulp of coffee. "Well I need it for early morning research. I have an hour before I need to head off to the research lab, and I'm going to spend it making sure you are going to be prepared. Now, where's Cynthia?"
Elsa gave a pointed look towards the window outside. They could both see a cascade of blond hair outside on the porch, answering Carolina's question. "Ah. Well, how about you bring her in and we can talk about some things."
Elsa put down her tea and complied, walking out to Cynthia. Aren followed behind her. What do they need to talk about? It's just traveling and sleeping under the stars… Actually humans have tents now don't they? So maybe not under the stars then. Okay, maybe not as simple as I think. Aren when he was still an Eevee had seen several human tents and several cases of humans failing to put up said tents. So he figured that there was still stuff to discuss after all.
Aren slipped out the door just before Elsa closed it. Okay, seriously, she has to stop closing doors on me. Aren thought, a little irritated.
Elsa looked down at Aren, frowning slightly. "Is something the matter?" She asked.
"Huh? Oh, no, I'm just out here because it's refreshing to be out in the morning." Cynthia answered.
"What?" Elsa said, "Oh, no, I was talking to Aren. Sorry."
"Oh." Cynthia fell silent and went back to her coffee.
"So what seems to be the trouble Aren?" Elsa asked.
"Oh, well, it's just that you keep closing doors on me," Aren said. "I don't have hands or the reach like you do."
"Oh." Elsa uttered in realization. "I'm sorry. I'll remember from now on Aren."
Aren gave her a smile, "Eeh, you're new to this. I'll give you some slack for now."
Elsa made an amused sound. "I'm glad I have your clemency," She said sarcastically.
"I am a generous ruler, I can afford some kindness."
"As long as it fits in with your whims then, huh?"
"Even my whims are whimsical."

God, it's almost as bad as when Emily's on the phone, Cynthia mused as she looked out upon Celestic town, listening to Elsa and Aren talk. You only get half the conversation anyway, but in this case you can't understand half of it, rather than not hearing half of it. Which is worse? Gah! I can't think this early! I need more coffee.

"Anyway, getting back to why we came out here, your grandmother wanted to talk to you about some things." Elsa said after she was done 'debating' with Aren.
Cynthia closed her eyes and then swallowed the rest of her coffee. "Alright. I need more coffee anyway." The three of them went inside then, with Elsa holding the door open for Aren, something that he appreciated.
Once inside, they saw Emily sitting on the couch with the look of the dead on her face, clutching a cup of coffee. Cynthia gave a small smirk as she looked at her younger sister and shook her head in amusement. Carolina was sitting on a chair, waiting for the two girls to get back in. Cynthia got another cup of coffee then went back to the living room. "You wanted something?" Cynthia asked her grandmother.
"Yes, and it concerns both of you." Carolina said, and they both took a seat at that. After they were settled, Carolina continued, "Cynthia, how well prepared are you for your journey. I know that you were ready before, but now you have company, (no offence to Elsa) a rookie. Are you comfortable enough to have her along?"
Cynthia nodded and replied, "Absolutely. Elsa is a quick learner and I don't think I'll have to babysit her."
"How very considerate of you." Elsa commented dryly.
Cynthia smirked but didn't respond to that comment. "Besides, she's already had her first Pokémon battle and won, so she won't have many problems."
Carolina's eyebrows rose a bit. "Oh? I didn't know that. Do we have a professional battler in the making?"
Elsa flushed a bit. "I don't think so," she said. "I don't think I'll get involved in battling like that."
"Don't be too sure Elsa," Cynthia said, "You were getting pretty into it by the end of the battle."
Elsa opened her mouth to argue but then stopped and thought back to the battle she had with Fredric. I was very nervous at the beginning of the battle. I wasn't sure what to do and I almost lost it when I saw Aren hurting. But… I saw the confidence in his eyes and the determination to keep going to the end. And I felt the same thing. Then I started thinking clearly again and strategized. That's how I won. Did I get into it? Yes, she admitted to herself, but did I enjoy it? I don't know. I don't like fighting, especially after… She cut herself off on that thought, not wanting to relive those moments that made her feel like… a monster.
Elsa's silence was taken as agreement with Cynthia's statement. "Hey, there's no need to worry about league battling anytime soon. You'll have plenty of time to decide what you want to do while you… well…"
Elsa raised her hand to cut off Cynthia's awkward statement, "I understand what you mean Cynthia. And I intend to get back sooner rather than later, but until then it's pointless to remain ignorant of this world while I'm in it. I would rather start learning all that I can to be able to adapt for the short while I'm here than to stumble around cluelessly."
Carolina nodded, "A good answer. Anyway, getting back on topic, do you have everything you need Elsa?"
Elsa frowned, "I'm… not quite sure. I have the items from yesterday if that's what you mean."
"Partially. You got items mainly for healing and battling, not for travel. I'm thinking more along the lines of camping in the outdoors: sleeping bag, tent, food for yourself and your Pokémon, toiletries, etcetera."
I've never been camping in my life. In fact, the longest I've spent outside was two days, and that was when I ran from my coronation, and even then I spent it in my ice palace. In fact I've spent my entire life inside the castle, and even more in my room. I don't know anything about camping.
Elsa's worry must have shown on her face a bit because Carolina softened up and she said, "Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed about. Some people don't even get out of their house to go to work." Once again, the wrong choice of words, Elsa thought, but didn't let it show that it resonated with her. "Heck, sometimes I need to tell some of my fellow scientists to leave and go to the forest just to get out. Not everyone is an outdoor person."
"Besides," Cynthia said, "we'll be stopping in cities and towns quite often so we'll have places to sleep inside. But there will be a few outside nights that we'll have to 'fend for ourselves'". Cynthia said, half dramatically.
Elsa nodded. "Alright. I'll adapt. Besides, I'm a quick learner like you said."
"That's the spirit!" Carolina said. "Now, Cynthia, I trust you'll help Elsa pack right?"
"Of course."
"Well then, there's nothing to worry about. Just help her out whenever she asks for it or needs it. And watch out for each other. Now then, I'll get some breakfast ready and you two can get ready to move out."
"Alright." They split up throughout the house: Elsa put away her tea in the sink to be washed, Cynthia got another cup of coffee and went upstairs to dress and shower, and Emily remained on the couch. By the time everybody reunited, and in Emily's case reanimated, breakfast was ready. Aren didn't have anything since he had already eaten. It was a simple affair and there was some idle small talk, with the Shirona family asking a few questions about Arendelle. Emily had decided that she would like to meet Anna, seeing as they had many things is common. Elsa professionally bit her tongue at that, wanting to say more on that. Cynthia and Carolina asked how it was being a Queen, with Cynthia focused more on the logistics of it.
Eventually it came time for Carolina to head off to the center and they bid her farewell until later that afternoon when they would stop by on their way out of Celestic Town. At that point Cynthia took charge. "Okay Elsa, let's go upstairs and scrounge around for an extra sleeping bag."
The two plus Aren went upstairs and Cynthia led them to a large closet, large enough for both of them to fit in. "Now, I know we have an extra sleeping bag and mat around here somewhere. I think it might fit you, but the last time I used it I still had a good foot left of growing to do."
Elsa looked around but not feeling like much help. I haven't been camping before, as my father never took me out of the castle before. I don't think I've ever seen a sleeping bag before. "What does it look like?"
"It'll look like a rolled up blanket, and I think it's… green?" Cynthia shrugged. "It's been a while. I guess we'll have to see if it's still usable."
"Oh okay." Elsa said.
Cynthia stood up and faced Elsa. "Oh, don't think I'm giving you the bad one. It's just that we don't have time to go get a new bag right now. Besides, the tent I have is nice and should fit both of us comfortably. It might be a bit crowded, but it'll work." Cynthia moved another box around as she was looking for the sleeping bag. "Oh, here's the sleeping pad." She said and tossed something down from a shelf. The pad was folded up into a rectangle and Elsa eyed it curiously. Even simple pads are advanced here, she thought.
Elsa just let her eyes wander around, taking in all the stuff that was inside the closet. There was some weird machine that had a long handle and a bag attached to it, a propeller inside a casing, and dozens of other things that Elsa had no clue what they did. I guess I'll have to learn about these things later… if there actually ends up being a later. Not that I intend there to be one.
She shrugged it off and glanced around again. A sudden tug at her attention and a feeling of excitement made her look down at Aren. The Pokémon in question was head first under a shelf with only the lower half of him visible. "Did you find something Aren?" Elsa asked.
"I fink sow." Came Aren's muffled response and he started moving backwards. His head appeared and he had a strap in his mouth, which led to a green, rolled up bag. "Found it." He said after he spat out the strap.
"Oh you found it." Cynthia said, not privy to half the conversation.
"Yep!" Aren said as Cynthia bent down and grabbed it.
"Let's see what condition it's in." They all left the closet and went to Cynthia's room. Cynthia undid the straps and with a flick rolled the bag out to full length. "Looks good enough. There's a few frays but nothing major." She unzipped it and looked at the lining inside. "Looks good as well." She zipped it closed and rolled it up. "Could you hand me the straps please?" Cynthia asked.
Elsa bent down and gave the two to Cynthia. She watched as Cynthia looped them around and tightened them, memorizing how it should go and what it looked like so she could do it. I'm going to be using it later so I need to take care of it.
Cynthia stood up and handed the sleeping bag to Elsa. "Here you go: one slightly used but still functional sleeping bag."
Elsa smiled, "Thank you."
"Now then, since we're here, let's get your bag properly packed. Since we are going to be traveling by foot, you'll need to pack lighter."
Elsa frowned in thought. "Why are we walking? Couldn't we take a car and ride to the cities?"
Cynthia nodded, "We could, but think about it: it's not so much the destination as it is the journey. If we drive, then we will miss out on seeing all the Pokémon and life's natural wonders. Think of it as the scenic route."
Elsa shrugged and said, "You're in charge of where we go since it is your journey. I'll follow where you go."
Cynthia smiled in appreciation, and then said, "Alright, now let's get packing."
For the next hour Elsa and Cynthia packed and repacked their bags. Cynthia made sure that she had enough food for herself and her Pokémon (Elsa was slightly surprised to find out Cynthia had more, but Cynthia said that she would show her later). Cynthia had helped Elsa out, managing to get the clothes she bought the other day into the backpack Emily gave Elsa. Since the backpack was for trainers, it was bigger on the inside than it looked to a passerby, and allowed for more things to be put in there.
Cynthia had sent Emily out to get some Pokémon food for Aren, which ended up being a flavor that ice types preferred, although Aren said that he would still like some snowflakes on his. The bag of food was also packed away along with some human food. Cynthia had decided to split the food with her carrying 2/3rds of it and the other third to Elsa, since she didn't have as much, or rather none at all, experience with hiking. Cynthia was carrying the stove as well.
The tent was split up, with Elsa carrying the poles and Cynthia the canvas. With Elsa's new sleeping bag and pad, there were actually places on the backpack for them to be. The sleeping bag went on the top flap of the bag and the pad hung tightly onto the bottom.
The next part was what they would carry on their bodies. Cynthia noticed that Elsa had a pair of Pokémon belts and explained that they hold a trainer's Poké Balls. Since Elsa only had one Pokémon with her, she should carry Aren's Luxury Ball on the belt for easy access, just in the even when she needed to recall Aren for some reason. Elsa agreed and put the belt around her skirt, circling her waist, then clipped the shrunken Luxury Ball onto the first and closest slot.
It was about ten when everything was packed away finally and they were ready to head out. There was another heated discussion about who should drive to the research center but Emily backed off rather quickly once Cynthia made it clear she wanted to drive, since it would be the last time in a while. So they loaded the two packs into the 'trunk' as it was called and drove the few minutes to the lab.
They got out and entered again and waited a few minutes for Carolina to appear. There were footsteps and Carolina soon stepped into the lobby.
"Ah, are you two ready to get going finally?" She asked in way of greeting.
Cynthia nodded, "We're just dropping by to say farewell. I'll see you for the regional championships right?"
"Of course." Both Emily and Carolina replied. "We'll be cheering you on the entire way sis." Emily continued.
"I expect you to." Cynthia said and gave both of them a hug.
"Now Cynthia, I don't need to tell you to take care of Elsa right?" Carolina said.
"I think you just did." Cynthia said with a smile. "And I will. Besides, she's older than me so she should have an idea of what to do."
Elsa decided to pop into the conversation, "I'm right here you know." She said with amusement in her voice. "Anyway, I promise I won't be any trouble."
"Oh I think it might be late for that," Aren said snidely. I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, Elsa thought.
"Don't worry about it," Cynthia said, "you'll be better than fine."
"I want to thank you for your unequaled generosity and kindness you've shown me. I am in your debt." Elsa finished with a bow.
"It was no problem for us I'm sure," Carolina said. "How often are people privy to having a queen stay with them? And it was a privilege to help you, even if it wasn't enough…" She trailed off; all of them knowing what she was talking about.
Carolina gathered herself up again. "I'll keep the scanner running constantly. If there is any change at all, we'll immediately know it and I'll call Cynthia."
"That would be much appreciated." Elsa said.
"And don't give up hope Elsa. Just because there isn't anything now doesn't mean that there will be nothing in the future."
Elsa gave a small smile, "I'll keep that in mind."
It was Emily's turn now. "I'm glad I got to meet you Elsa. It's been wonderful to get to know you, even if it was a little rough."
Elsa nodded, "I feel the same. I hope we'll see each other again."
"Oh don't worry about that, I'm positive we will. After all, you are traveling with my sister. She'll pop in here sooner or later." Emily said with a smirk directed at Cynthia.
"Sooner than later I assure you." Elsa glanced between the two and Cynthia said, "Long story," as an explanation.
"Anyway, safe journeys to you both." Emily said.
"We'll stay safe." Cynthia said.
"Oh enough of the goodbyes," Carolina said gruffly, "just get going."
Cynthia chuckled, "Gee, it seems that you don't want me around anymore. Alright, we're going."
They all walked out of the center and Cynthia gave Emily something. "Here, I won't be needing these now." It was the keys to their car. "You can drive home."
Emily did a little victory dance, "Yes! I can finally drive the car! Thank you!" Emily then gave Cynthia a crushing hug.
"Okay okay! Just don't damage it! Let go please!" Cynthia said as her air supply was getting cut off.
"Oops, sorry!" Emily released her and smiled. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it. Just don't total it or anything."
Emily gave a sly smile, "No promises… Joking! Joking!" She added as Cynthia glared at her.
"Now then, let's get our stuff and we can be on our way." They moved to the car and opened the back end of it and pulled out two backpacks, Cynthia's slightly larger that Elsa's.
As the two sisters were occupied, Carolina motioned for Elsa to come over to her. "Elsa, remember that you'll have to tell Cynthia about your powers sooner rather than later. Keeping secrets is a good way to destroy relationships."
I know, more than anyone. "I know Ms. Shirona," she said, using the formal name, "and I will tell her. I promise you that."
Carolina searched Elsa's eyes for a moment longer before she softened, "Good. Just don't wait too long." They parted and rejoined the sisters.
"Ready to go?" Cynthia asked.
Elsa shrugged as best she could with her pack on, "I guess so. How about you?" She asked Aren.
"Never better!"
"Alright then," Cynthia said, "I'll see you both when I've entered the Sinnoh League Championship."
"Hopefully before then, but both would be nice." Carolina said.
Cynthia hiked her pack more firmly onto her shoulders. "Well, let's get going then. Farewell!"
"Take care!" Emily said for both of them.
At than Elsa and Cynthia started walking, with Elsa following Cynthia slightly. It only took them about ten minutes to reach the edge of town, since the research center was on the outskirts. They passed by a few people and Cynthia greeted them, saying what they were doing and they wished them luck. Elsa stayed silent and hung back slightly just like previously.
At the town line, Cynthia stopped and turned to Elsa. "Well, this is it. The beginning of our journey. Are you sure you want to come with me?"
Elsa blinked. What other options do I have? I could stay here and be a drain on your families' resources, or I could strike out on my own and flounder around until someone discovers who or what I am and I have nobody to rely on when the mobs come. I don't want to do this on my own. "Yes, I do." Elsa said aloud.
"Then, let's hit the road." Cynthia started walking again and Elsa followed, with Aren sticking close by.
They made good time, stopping only for half an hour to eat a light lunch, which consisted of sandwiches and apples, before moving again. It was close to the middle of the afternoon before they reached a certain point.
"Cynthia," Elsa said, breaking the silence, "can we stop for a moment?"
"What for?" Cynthia asked.
"I want to do something, it'll only take a minute." Elsa said.
"What?" Elsa just nodded off in the direction of a familiar grove of trees. Understanding came into Cynthia's eyes then. "Oh, I get it. I'll wait here." She said as she took off her pack and set it on the ground.
"Thank you." Elsa said, and motioned for Aren to follow her. The two walked through the bushes for a minute until they came to a familiar clearing.
"Why did you want to come here Elsa?" Aren asked, half knowing why, but wanting Elsa to understand as well.
"I just… I wanted to come here because this is where I came through. I thought my sister, if she followed me, would be here as well, or at least appear here. But she hasn't." Elsa paused. "I'm alone once again except for you and Cynthia's family, and to be honest, they can't replace family. My parents, Anna; they're not here, and two of them are gone forever. But I know Anna is still alive, I can feel it. And if she does come here, I want to give her a sign that I am too."
Elsa looked down and hiked up her skirt for a moment, lifting up her foot. She then brought it down and with a crackle, made her signature snowflake on the ground. It spread out for several feet before it stopped.
Aren looked at the ice snowflake wide-eyed, never seeing Elsa's powers used like this deliberately. "Whoa."
Elsa smiled. "That felt good," she admitted. "It's been a while since I used my powers intentionally."
"You should use them more." Aren encouraged her.
Elsa's smile dropped slightly, but didn't vanish entirely. "I will," she vowed, "after I tell Cynthia about them."
"And that will be…?" Aren pried.
"Soon." Was all Elsa said.
Aren quieted for a moment then said, "Won't your snowflake melt eventually?"
Elsa's face took on a quizzical look, "Maybe," she said, drawing out the word, "I don't know actually. I made an ice palace and it hasn't shown any sign of melting aside from the damages it suffered before. And I've also made living snowmen before so I don't know how long it'll last, but now's a good a time as any to test it."
"Snowmen?" Aren said, that bit throwing him off a bit. "Living snowmen?"
Elsa giggled a bit. "Yes, I've made two of them. Olaf is the first one and he's a bit goofy but warm-hearted. The other one…" Elsa paused a moment, "was, not really a mistake, but more a creation made out of fear. He's more of a snow mon-beast." She said avoiding the original word that came first. "Olaf gave him the name Marshmallow, but I don't know what happened to him. He fell off a ravine after Hans," she spat the name out, "cut his leg off. I hope he's okay." She added.
"Well, you're full of surprises." Aren said.
Elsa's smile returned. "Thank you. She backed off the ice and said, "I guess we should get back to Cynthia then."
"Alright." The two of them left the clearing and the snowflake behind.
A month or two later, a traveling trainer would stumble upon the snowflake and took pictures. Soon a small news group showed up to investigate and captured the snowflake on camera. A small article was put into the Sinnoh paper and it attracted a few scientists to study it, specifically one that once she saw it, she and her granddaughter knew exactly who made it. Not that they told anyone of course, they acted just as surprised as everyone else.
Small chips of the ice were broken off using advanced equipment to be studied at various labs and Carolina finally had an excuse to study Elsa's powers up close. Strangely enough, nothing could be found out. It looked like normal ice, except it didn't melt, even when exposed to higher temperatures. It took a precise Flamethrower to melt the pieces they had and even then it took a few seconds.
Even stranger was the main snowflake's ability to repair itself. Whenever a chip was broken off, a few seconds later it would glow and reform into the shape it was originally. This left scientists baffled. Some theorized that it was an unformed Cryogonal, but there was no proof to those claims. Since there was no explanation forthcoming, research was forgotten and the snowflake turned into a minor tourist trip, although the leading scientist from nearby Celestic Town was protective of it.
In the end, though some claim that it was magic, it was chalked up to be another unexplained occurrence in the Pokémon world.
Elsa rejoined Cynthia swiftly and they continued. It was getting later in the day and Cynthia asked Elsa, "What do you want to do?"
Elsa frowned as she moved around a larger stone, "What do you mean?"
Cynthia pointed ahead to Mt. Coronet. "We'll have to cross over or under the mountain range. Both have different problems with them. Obviously if we try to travel over it, we could get caught up in a snowstorm, even though it is the beginning of spring and we won't be as high as we could go. But if we go underground, there's the risk of getting lost in the labyrinth of tunnels that go throughout the mountain, even if they are more traveled by trainers."
"So what are the benefits to both?" Elsa asked.
"Well if we go over, we won't have to deal with the darkness and being underground for a day. But if we take the tunnels, then we'll arrive at Eterna City faster."
Elsa thought about it before saying, "I'll be fine with traveling over the mountain. I'm not one for dark and enclosed spaces." Because my room substituted for that.
"Me neither," Cynthia admitted with a grin. "Besides, think of the view we'll see on top."
"Mountain views are spectacular." Elsa said, thinking back to the glorious sunrise when she first built her palace.
"Alright, over the mountains it is." They set off again, going a tad bit slower as they were going uphill now.
They hiked for another two hours before they stopped for the night. They were halfway up the mountains and the air had definitely gotten colder, with small clumps of snow on the ground.
Cynthia realized something at this point. "Elsa, do you have any jackets? It's going to be cold tonight and I don't want you getting a chill."
Elsa waved her off, "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. The cold never bothered me anyway."
Cynthia gave her a searching look before shrugging and continuing setting up their camp. Aren came over the Elsa and said, "Now that was an opportune moment to tell her."
Elsa gave Aren a small glare and declined to comment. Aren's right though, a part of her mind argued, when will the right moment be too late? The longer I wait, the greater the chance is that Cynthia will react negatively.
But she's going to react negatively anyway. Why would she travel with somebody like me? Another part of her mind said, one that she thought she had gotten rid of.
Carolina and Emily got over it. Elsa thought, and that seemed to settle her internal debate.
Elsa was disrupted from her thoughts when Cynthia said, "Elsa, could you help me with the cooking?"
Elsa stood up from where she was sitting, "I really don't know how to cook." She admitted.
Cynthia smiled, "Well don't worry. The most we have to do is get some water and boil it, most likely from the snow around here. We'll be having backpacking meals for a while so they're not complicated if you follow the instructions."
Elsa nodded and grabbed a pot and moved outward away from Cynthia. She looked around for some snow to put in the pot when it suddenly slapped her in the face. I could make the snow, she realized. Looking back, she saw that she was far enough away so Cynthia wouldn't see her. With a wave of her hand, the pot filled entirely with snow. Pleased with herself, Elsa went back.
"Oh, back so soon?" Cynthia asked when she noticed Elsa's return.
"Yes, I found a larger snowdrift and got some snow to boil." She said, making up a story on the spot.
"Alright, bring it over and I'll start melting it." Elsa handed her the pot and Cynthia turned on her portable backpacking stove. Blue flames licked the bottom of the pot and, although unseen, started to melt the snow.
"Now we just wait for the water to boil and then we can start." Cynthia said, leaning backwards on the ground.
There was a silence. Eventually Elsa asked, "So why are you traveling around this region Cynthia?"
"I'm collecting gym badges so I can compete in the Sinnoh League." She answered.
"Gym badges?" Elsa questioned.
"Oh right, I'll explain. There are a series of gyms set up around the region and you must beat the gym leader in a battle to get a gym badge, sort of like an award. Once you get eight, then you are eligible to enter the League tournament, where other people who have also won eight badges will compete to see who is the best trainer there."
"So what does a gym badge entail?"
"Well it means that you need to beat the gym leader or impress them with your training somehow to get the badge. Each gym specializes in a certain type. The gym leader in Eterna City is a grass type leader if I recall."
Elsa nodded, understanding. Before she could ask another question, they both noticed that the water was boiling and they were distracted for a few minutes making their meals. While the hot water was heating up the food in the bags, Cynthia mentioned that it would be a good idea to feed their Pokémon. "After all, they need to eat too." She said.
"Yea we do!" Aren said enthusiastically. Elsa and Cynthia chuckled at Aren's outburst. Elsa fished out a bowl for Aren and poured in some Poké Food. Then while Cynthia wasn't looking, waved her hand and made a small cascade of snowflakes fall onto Aren's food.
"Yes! My favorite!" Aren said, then dug into the food, eliciting a smile from Elsa.
Elsa went back to Cynthia who had six bowls filled with different foods placed out. "Are those for your Pokémon?" Elsa asked.
Cynthia nodded. "You've only met one of them, now it's time to meet the rest of the team." Cynthia reached down and threw six Poké Balls into the air. Elsa blinked in amazement, reminding herself that technology was once again incredible.
Six glows coalesced into six different shapes, and then into six different Pokémon. "Dinner everyone!" Cynthia said, and they all gave cries of joy as they dug in.
Elsa was wide eyed as she looked at the different Pokémon. Cynthia saw this and chuckled. "I suppose you want to know who everybody is right?" Elsa nodded.
Cynthia motioned to the first Pokémon. It was a green colored Pokémon that looked very plant like, partially because it had two giant roses for hands, one red and one blue. "That's Roselia and she's a grass and poison type. I caught her as a Budew here in Sinnoh about two years ago."
Next was a brown and pink slug looking Pokémon. "That's Gastrodon, also a Sinnoh native. I caught her a while ago on the west side of Mt. Coronet."
"You've already met Togekiss, so next is Milotic." It looked beautiful with long red ribbon like appendages coming from its head and its red and blue scales on its tail. It looked like a sea serpent from legends Elsa had read about. "She's a water type and I caught her in Hoenn about three years ago."
Next was the smallest Pokémon of the bunch, a bi-pedaled dog looking Pokémon with a black raccoon mask over its red eyes. "And that's Riolu, a fighting type. I received him when I traveled to an island off the coast of Sinnoh. I promised the people there that I would not reveal their location, but Riolu has been a faithful companion."
Lastly was the monster of the group. It was a dark blue and red color with yellow eyes and numerous claws and spikes on its body. It looked like a cross between a dragon and a shark. "And that's Gabite, my first Pokémon. She's a dragon and ground type and my most powerful Pokémon I have.
"Everybody," Cynthia said, getting her Pokémon's attention and they all paused in their eating to look at her, "this is Elsa and Aren, her Pokémon. They'll be traveling with us for a while while we compete in the Sinnoh League. Elsa's new to training so we'll be helping her out, alright?" She was met with cries of enthusiasm as they voiced their willingness to help.
Elsa smiled, "Thank you, to all of you. I know I'll need all the help I can get."
"I'll say it again, you don't need much. Just enough to get you started and you will learn as you go and improve."
Elsa smiled and they all started eating again. When it came time, they washed what dirty utensils they had and packed away their trash. All of Cynthia's Pokémon volunteered to return to their Poké Balls for the night, Gabite especially since she really didn't like the cold. Aren of course stayed out.
Cynthia and Elsa set up their tent and unrolled their sleeping bags. There was plenty of space inside the tent, enough for all of them plus Aren.
"Elsa, are you going to sleep soon?" Cynthia asked as she noticed Elsa standing outside the tent, staring off into the distance.
"I'll be inside in a few minutes, I just want to be out here for a while."
"Well don't be too long. You don't want to get hypothermia on your first day." Cynthia said, and then she zipped up the tent.
Elsa had to muffle a snort. "Me, the Snow Queen, getting Hypothermia. That'll be priceless." She muttered.
Aren just looked at her and sighed.
Night fell quickly and soon the stars and the moon appeared out in the sky. Elsa looked up and looked at them. Even the stars are different here. It's so similar yet so different. Elsa blinked. This could have been my world, she realized. If things happened differently in the beginning, I could have been living in a world where Pokémon existed. There might have been others like me that are well known and could have helped me, maybe another Snow Queen out there. But that's not how it turned out.
But I'm here now, in a new land. Does that mean I could have a second chance? A place where I make my own reputation? A place where nobody knows me except by what I do? I may not have a claim to any land or title here, but I could make one. Maybe like one of those gym leaders Cynthia was talking about, I could become a gym leader.
But that would mean I would be giving up hope on returning to Arendelle. And I can't give up hope. I can never. Anna is counting on me to return, I know it. And I will. I swear I will return to Arendelle.
Elsa sighed and took a deep breath of air. Absentmindedly she make a few magical sparkles shoot up from her hand, drifting lazily in the wind. Shaking her head, she got up and brushed off her skirt and was about to go inside the tent but stopped.
"Do you hear something Aren?"
Aren lazily lifted up his head and listened. "Is that… signing?" He asked confusedly.
Elsa frowned and started walking towards the sound, Aren following. They walked a bit of distance away from where the tent was and found an interesting sight.
There were two Pokémon, one sitting on the rocks and the other standing in front of it. The one sitting on the rocks looked like a cone, with solid blue eyes, and small hands and feet but a big smile showing lots of teeth. The other looked like a partial tree, with it's lower half brown, its head and upper arms snow white, and green hands and a small tail.
Currently the tree looking Pokémon was, as strange as it sounds, singing to the other one. It was partway through the song the Pokémon was singing, but Elsa and Aren caught the majority of it.
~"But you're you… you-you,
And that's what makes me smile.
You're you… you-you
So stay that way awhile."~
The Pokémon sitting on the rock, obviously moved, said in a feminine voice, "Oh, Snover… I-"
The other Pokémon cut her off before she could start.
~"You don't have to say a thing, I know the way you feel.
Your smile is like an open book; so honest true and real.
Other Pokémon lie and cheat,
One push may come to shove.
Your heart doesn't work like that,
So you're the Pokémon I love.
"You're you… you-you,
That's how I hope you stay.
You're you… you-you.
But anyway, that's all I've got to say."~
The male Pokémon finished his song and waited for the other Pokémon to say something. Eventually she did. "Oh that was beautiful Snover. I didn't know you felt that way about me."
"It's from the heart Snorunt, and I meant every word of it." Snover said with absolute conviction.
Snorunt jumped off and practically tackled Snover in a hug. "I'll stay with you forever Snover. I love you."
"And I love you Snorunt."
Elsa was touched by the affection the two Pokémon were showing each other and felt like she was intruding. She glanced down at Aren and motioned to him that they should leave. He nodded and they both turned around and started leaving.
Unfortunately they weren't as quiet or discreet as they hoped.
A swirl of leaves whipped past the two of them and embedded themselves in the trees and bushes around them. "Alright! Come out of the bushes slowly or you won't get hurt!" Elsa and Aren stopped dead and glanced at each other, knowing they were caught.
"We're sorry, we don't want any trouble." Elsa said gently.
"Who are you?" There was a hint of confusion as he said that, "Come on out so I can see you."
Elsa looked at Aren again and they agreed. They stepped out and both of the wild Pokémon hissed. "A human! Oh no, will she capture us?" Snorunt exclaimed.
"Not if I can help it." Snover said determinedly.
"What? No, no, I don't want to capture you. We just heard singing and came to investigate. We were going to leave when you stopped us." Elsa said.
There was more confusion and suspicion. "A likely story don't you think?" Snover asked Snorunt.
"It's the truth." Aren said, communicating finally. "Just like my trainer said, we were just about to leave and she has no interest in capturing you two. Right?" He said to Elsa.
"Right."
"Hang on, what was that?" Snorunt questioned.
"What was what?" Aren said.
"Your trainer answered like she understood you."
"That's because I can. And I can understand both of you as well." Elsa said, to the shock of both of them.
"How can you understand us?" Snover asked.
Before Elsa could answer, Snorunt placed a hand on Snover's shoulder. "You're like us?" She said as a sort of statement question. Snover looked confused for a moment before he really looked at Elsa, then his eyes widened.
Elsa knew what they were talking about. "In a fashion. You could say that I'm a human Ice type." She said, feeling funny about saying that.
"But, how is that possible?" Snover said.
"Believe me, she's still trying to figure out that one." Aren said.
Snover and Snorunt both looked at each other. "Prove it." Snover said.
Elsa complied and raised her hand, willing her magic to form into her snowflake. It appeared a few inches above her hand and hovered there before she recalled it. Both of the wild Pokémon's suspicions were confirmed and they looked at Elsa in slight awe.
"Wow. I had no idea that humans could eventually get Pokémon powers." Snover said.
"I think I'm the only one, and I'm not from around here." Elsa said.
"What do you mean by that?" Snorunt asked.
Elsa waved her hand in dismissal, "It's a long story, and I don't want to disturb your night anymore. We apologize for intruding and we'll be on our way." Elsa finished with a bow and made to leave.
"Wait."
Elsa and Aren turned back to see that Snover had taken a few steps forward and had an arm raised. "Yes?" Elsa asked.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Elsa." She answered.
Snover glanced at Snorunt, who gave him a nod. That seemed to give him courage and he turned to Elsa again. "Why didn't you want to capture us?" He asked.
Elsa blinked. "Well, you two were in the middle of something and it would have been rude to interrupt. Also I'm just beginning as a trainer and still learning about Pokémon. I had no intention of capturing you two anyway."
Snover seemed to hesitate. "Both of us made a pact," he said, referring to himself and Snorunt, "we would either be both caught by the same trainer, or not at all." He steeled himself. "We would like to be captured by you." He said.
"Me?" Elsa said in astonishment.
"Yes you Elsa." Snorunt said. "If we were to be captured by a trainer, who better than someone like us?"
"Also being able to understand us is a bonus." Snover said.
Elsa's mind was spinning, "But don't you want to remain free?"
They shrugged, "It's not as all cracked up as you think it is."
"I know from experience." Aren grumbled.
"But… why?" Elsa asked.
"While being in the wild is good for learning survival skills," Snorunt said, "it isn't the best place for Pokémon to get as strong as they could, especially when they're hounded by other trainers."
"Plus it's our choice. And we choose you to be our trainer." Snover said.
Elsa's mind was still trying to get around the fact that Pokémon wanted to be with her. "Are you sure you want to come with me? When I said I'm not from around here, I meant it. I'm trying to get back to my home."
"Then that's fine, we both struck out on our own anyway!" Snover said.
Elsa blinked. "Alright," she relented, "if you want to come with me of your own will, then I guess that's fine."
"There's just one catch." Snover said.
Why am I not surprised? Elsa thought. "What is it?"
"You'll have to battle me to catch me."
Oh. "Uhh, Aren, do you want to battle? It's your choice."
"I'm ready when you are." Aren said, already slipping into battle mode.
"Okay." Elsa said softly to herself. Then she straightened her posture and said clearly, "I accept your challenge."
Snover jumped up in excitement then turned to Snorunt, "Could you back up please? I don't want you getting hurt accidentally."
"Oh, you're such a sweetie." Snorunt said and gave Snover a hug before scampering off a small distance away.

"Alright let's do this!" Snover said, getting ready for battle. "Icy Wind!" He cried and let loose a icy gust at Aren.
"Aren, use your own Icy Wind!" Elsa said. Aren responded and also blew out a gust. The two attacks met and started pushing against each other, starting to cover the area in ice and snow.
"Razor Leaf!" Snover said, canceling his attack and throwing his arms forward. Multiple leaves shot out and raced towards Aren.
"Dodge it!" Elsa said, and Aren jumped to the side, the attack missing. "Now use, uhh, Quick Attack!" She. said, momentarily forgetting which moves Aren knew.
"Ha!" Aren shouted and shot forward. Snover was too slow to dodge and got hit with the attack.
"Ow! Alright, Powder Snow!" Another gust came from Snover, except this time it had more snow in it than anything else. Aren got hit with the attack and was pushed back slightly, but shook it off.
"Are you alright?" Elsa asked.
"Yep, keep going!" Aren shouted back.
"Okay, use Sand Attack!" Elsa commanded. Aren used his forepaws to kick up some mountain dirt into Snover's face. "Now Bite!" Aren came forward and bit into Snover, who gave a cry of pain.
"Powder Snow!" Snover said, and Aren got hit with another burst of snow, causing him to let go. "Now let's try this." He muttered to himself, "Ice Shard!" He raised his arms above his head and a blue orb formed and he launched it at Aren, hitting him.
"OW!" Aren cried out falling back again.
Snover looked slightly amazed, "Hey, I did it. I used that attack!" He cried in joy.
"I knew you'd get it!" Snorunt shouted from the sidelines.
"Alright! Now again!" Another orb formed and it shot at Aren.
"Avoid it!' Elsa ordered, and Aren rolled out of the way, "Now use Tail Whip!" Aren turned around and wagged its tail, causing Snover's defense to fall. "Now get in close and use Ice Fang!" Aren charged forward.
But Snover had other ideas, "Grass Whistle!" He pulled a leaf out and started blowing on it, causing a sweet melody to come out.
Aren stumbled and tried to keep going forward, but collapsed on the ground, asleep. "What?" Elsa said in confusion. Moves can cause other Pokémon to fall asleep? That's another thing I need to learn, she thought.
"Razor Leaf!" Snover shouted and more leaves shot out, hitting Aren this time, but not causing him to wake up.
"Aren, you need to wake up! Aren wake up!" Elsa shouted. Please wake up, she thought.
Surprising everyone, Aren lifted his head up and blinked, getting his awareness back. He snapped to it when he realized that he was still in a battle. "Aren, you're awake!" Elsa said in surprise.
"Well, yea, I heard you and I hate to disappoint." Aren said cheekily.
Elsa smiled back before getting back into the battle. "Alright, use Ice Fang!" Aren charged forward and his fangs grew larger and glowed blue as he bit down again on Snover. Snover cried in pain at the attack. "Again!" Elsa ordered and Aren bit down once more.
Aren let go and Snover stumbled backwards before falling to the ground, swirls in his eyes.
[Play: Victory! (Wild Pokémon)- From Diamond & Pearl Soundtrack]
"Yea! Alright!" Aren said in triumph.
Elsa went over to Aren and said, "You did a good job Aren. Thank you." She then focused her attention on the KO-ed Snover. She went over to him and shook him gently. "Are you alright?" She asked.
The swirls disappeared and Snover grunted. "You won. You're our trainer now." He said.
Elsa frowned, "Not yet. You're still injured." She thought back to the battle with Fredric and how she healed Aren after he battled. I wonder if I can still do the same with Pokémon I haven't captured, she thought. Slowly she brought her hand and put it on Snover's chest. She concentrated and willed her power to go into Snover, putting her energy into him, willing her magic to heal his injuries.
Her hands glowed blue and Snover's eyes widened, feeling the rush of energy and his body getting healed. After a moment, Elsa opened her eyes and saw that Snover was fully healed. "How do you feel now?" She asked.
"Incredible! It's just like I haven't battled right now. How did you do that?"
Elsa shrugged, "I just willed my magic to heal you. I did the same thing with Aren before, so I figured that I could do the same again."
"Well it works like a charm." Snover stood up and Snorunt came over to him.
"We definitely picked the right trainer." She said while Elsa was healing Aren.
"Yes, now, don't you need to capture us?" Snover asked.
Elsa snapped back to them and said, "Oh, you still want to go through with it?"
"Of course!" Snover said.
"Alright." Elsa said, still hesitant.
There was a pause. "Soooo… don't you need to capture us or something?" Snover said.
"Oh, right!" Elsa said and then got confused. "Uhh, can you follow me back to our tent? I don't have any Poké Balls on me."
"Okay." Snorunt said and the two wild Pokémon started following her back to Cynthia's tent.
"I should tell you that I'm traveling with another trainer. Her name's Cynthia and she's helping me out with this whole thing. She's nice and I think you might like her." Elsa said as they walked.
"I would like to meet her," Snorunt said.
Elsa remembered something, "Oh, and there's something very important: Cynthia doesn't know I have magic yet."
"Why not?" Snover asked.
"Because she's being stubborn." Aren answered.
"No I'm not!" Elsa defended herself. "I'm just not ready to tell her yet." She said quieter.
"Why not?" Snorunt asked.
"It is a long story," Elsa said sadly. "Suffice it to say that I didn't have a very good childhood and had to suppress my powers for years. I'm not yet comfortable with other people knowing what I am."
Snover and Snorunt looked at each other strangely then Snorunt said, "Alright, if you think that's best."
"It's not." Aren muttered under his breath, but kept walking.
They arrived at the tent and Elsa said, "Wait here." She unzipped the tent flap and crawled inside looking for her bag.
"Hmmm… Elsa?" Cynthia said groggily, half asleep.
"Yea, it's me." She said as she found her bag and started digging around for some Poké Balls.
"What are you doing?" Cynthia asked.
"Don't worry about it, just go to sleep. I'll tell you in the morning." Elsa said gently. Cynthia just shrugged in her sleeping bag and rolled over. Elsa found the ball shaped items she was looking for and grabbed two of them, one was red and the other was blue with red stripes.
She went outside and saw the three Pokémon waiting. "This is your last chance." Elsa said reasonably.
"Oh stop it." Snover said, "I said if you beat me you can capture us, and you did, so get on with it!"
Elsa looked at Snorunt, "Do I need to battle you too?" She asked.
Snorunt shook her head, "No, I'll go with what Snover decides, as long as we aren't separated."
Elsa mentally shrugged and knelt down, holding the two Poké Balls in her hands. "Whenever you're ready."
Snover tapped the regular Poké Ball and Snorunt the Great Ball. Both balls opened up and sucked them in, converting them into pure energy, before closing. Both of them wiggled a bit before locking with a click, signifying that Elsa captured the two.
"Congratulations," Aren said, "you have two new Pokémon."
Elsa blinked and thought about what that meant. I means that I have two more beings to take care of, that they're counting on me to take care of them and raise them. I think I know why Pokémon trainers need to know so much now.
She stood up and then tossed the two balls, releasing them back. Both of them appeared again.
"Wow, those Poké Balls are much more comfy than I thought." Snorunt said.
"Yea, I agree." Snover said.
Aren had a strange look on his face, "You two are strange."
"What, you don't like Poké Balls?" Snorunt said.
"Nope."
"Huh."
Elsa got their attention, "So I guess I can say welcome to the team."
"We're going to have so much fun!" Snover said excitedly.
Elsa smiled, seeing the enthusiasm in his response, "I promise I will try my best to raise and train you."
"You'll be great!" Snorunt said.
"Thank you, now, do you want to sleep outside your Poké Balls or inside?" Elsa asked.
"Inside please." Snorunt requested, with Snover agreeing. Elsa nodded and recalled both of them back inside their Poké Balls.
"Strange Pokémon." Aren said, talking about wanting to be inside their Poké Balls.
"We all have our preferences Aren." Elsa said. "Now come on, lets get inside the tent. Elsa held open the flap and Aren went inside, with Elsa following closely. Cynthia was already asleep, having taken Elsa's advice. Elsa herself crawled inside her sleeping bag and placed her two new Poké Balls next to her.
I guess I really am a Pokémon trainer now, she thought as she stared at them.
Eventually, Elsa and Aren fell asleep, their first night traveling on the road as Pokémon and trainer.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
For those of you who don't know, the song Snover was signing was an abridged version of an outtake song in the Frozen Deluxe album called "You're You."
And thus ends the longest chapter I've written yet, clocking in at over 11,000 words. I hope that more than makes up for the wait. And the other chapters I assure you won't take over a month again. I'll say it once more, College sucks.
In other news, Elsa just captured two new Pokémon! Yay! You can probably guess what they will evolve into in the future. And as for the Pokémon recommendations, thank you all for your ideas. I've now made a list of who's going to catch what and some of you got some, some of you not. So I'm closing that up. No more suggestions please. You'll have to wait and see which ones made the cut and what they'll catch in the end. Tee-hee...
Thank you for your patience and hope to see you for Chapter 12: Grass Stains
As always, R.R.F.F (Read. Review. Favorite. Follow.)
