I groaned as I attempted to roll over.

Even with my eyes closed, I could feel the light hitting my eyes.

I'm still alive. That's good.

"Haibara?" I called out, warily opening my eyes.

I was sitting in the basement of Professor Agasa's house, which was temporary set up like a bathroom.

I attempted to sit up but a wave of fatigue hit me. I glanced on the right to see IV device set up with the needle going through my arm

"Stay down" a stern voice commanded.

I raised my eyebrows. "Whatever you say, Shiho."

I chuckled as Haibara? Shiho? stiffened at my sentence.

"My name is Haibara Ai and it would not change until the Black Organisation is caught" she replied.

"A bit touchy I see." I muttered underneath my breath. "So...fill me in the situation"

Haibara glared at me, but continued nevertheless. "It's sunday now. I've called Ran-as you- and told her that your mother is picking you up and you're sorry that you didn't have a chance to say goodbye"

"What about my mum?" I asked

To my disbelief, she smiled. "She's waiting upstairs to have a talk with you"

I almost whimpered. She's going to give me a lecture of my life. "You should take care of your health" blah blah blah.

"So what's happening to me?"

"Well, Kudo, I've administered the drug on friday. You've been out and I'm pumping morphine into you so it'll lessen the pain."

I'm actually turning into myself.

I attempted to scramble up to look myself in the mirror.

"Down, I said." Haibara commanded, once again pushing me down.

I winced as my joints and muscles protested against movement.

"When will the transformation finish?" I asked.

"Probably by next week monday or tuesday"

I growled in frustration. I could feel my body changing and it was an uncomfortable feeling. If I wasn't under painkillers, it would probably hurt a lot more.

Also, I was stuck in this condition for a week.

"Is Hattori here?"

And I probably needed some entertainment.

"Checkmate" I sing-songed. This is a much better way to spend time then being lectured about personal safety.

Hattori frowned and pouted as he moved his King.

"Since when did were you good at chess?"

I grimanced as I felt a particular muscle move in my left shoulder.

"It's not that hard" I said shrugging.

Should not have done that. I immediately felt all the kinks and cramps that exited in my muscles and joints.

"Ya okay? Kudo?"

I rolled my eyes. "For the thousandth's time, I'm alright"

The tanned detective stared at me skeptically. "Well, you were wincing and doing all that jazz"

I sighed. "I was not doing all that jazz. I'm under morphine and codeine. If anything's going to take the pain away, this it it" I said moving my queen.

"Checkmate"

Hattori groaned. "Fine, you win" he said, knocking his king down.

I chuckled at his childish behaviour. "I didn't know you're sore because of being beat down by a girl. Kazuha beats your ass all the time"

I laughed harder as the detective turned red in embarrassment. "Well, it's not like I can do anything 'bout it" he muttered.

I smiled at the blushing teen. "Oh, so it's not because you like Kazuha?" I said in an accusing tone.

Immediately, Hattori jumped back from his seat. "W-W-What are you talking about, stupid?"

This is why Hattori provides best entertainment. "Nothing at all" I said, flashing my innocent smiles.

I grinned at Hattori stared at me with a accusatory look.

"You're too perspective for your own good."

Ring Ring

I reached for the bedside table to grab my phone. Seeing the Caller ID, I tossed the phone to Hattori.

Grabbing my phone out of pure reflex, he glared at me before answering.

"Yo" he answered.

Did he really answer Megure-keibu with a "Yo"?

"Speakerphone please"

Nodding at my request, Hattori put him on speakerphone.

"Isn't this Shinichi's phone?" A confused voice asked.

"Yes, but Kudo's a bit busy so I'm responding her calls. I'm Hattori Heiji, by the way Inspector. I think we've met."

"Oh! Hello Hattori. Can you tell Shinichi that I called?"

Hattori looked at me, frantically flashing an 'X' with my arms.

"Uh, Kudo's a gonna be occupied for a while. Why don't you tell me? I'll passed the message to her"

After a moment of hesitation, Megure-keibu started to speak. "Kaito Kid sent a heist note"

At the inspector's statement, Hattori gave me a incredulous look. After blocking the mic on my phone, he started speaking.

"Police force asks you to help in Kid's heist? Dude you're popular"

I frowned. "No. This is the first time. Ask why"

Recovering the mic, Hattori spoke into the phone.

"What does the heist note say?"

"Ah.., well, I wouldn't call it a heist note per say. It says, 'I request to see Shinichi Kudo'"

Hattori burst out laughing. "You know, keibu, you can just deny the request."

"I would but Kid sent a picture of the Jewel Pink Panther, which has been missing for two days. And the owner insists that we set this meeting up" he responded, sounding uncomfortable.

"I'll ask Kudo about it"

"I'll need her response by the day after tomorrow"

"I'll ask" And with the final sentence he hung up.

Looking at the phone in amusement, Hattori turned to face me.

"What did ya do to be envolped in Kaito Kid's love?" he teased.

I resists the urge to blush. "I think it has something to do with Conane"

He's going to ask where she is going and her address. Actually, he might even ask why i chose to involve her.

I looked down on my hands.

I don't want to be in the situation where I have to answer the questions.

I looked up to face the detective. "As illogical as this sounds, do you think I can ditch the meeting?" I asked.

Hattori raised his eyebrows. "You mean as logical as it sounds. Kudo, you're functioning because you're hooked up with painkillers and antidepressents. If you get off those, you're going to be witherin' on the floor" he said, poking me as a proof.

I hissed and coiled away from him. "That hurt, you idiot." I exclaimed, giving him a condescending glare.

Immeidately, Hattori caved in. "I'm sorry," he shouted out, putting his hands up as an apology.

I burst out in laughter, looking at the giantic idiot in front of me. "I'm kidding" I said, grinning ear to ear.

Quality entertainment right there. This is why you need friends

That was a short chapter XD sorry sorry

But I worte it as a setting up to the next chapter and setting up to the whole scene :))
