Pain. That was all she felt everywhere, in her chest, in her legs, and in her arms. The pain was unbearable to the point where she wanted it all to end right there and then. Is this how it felt to be human?
Chrome always felt horrible when people would ask her to take their lives early on, asking her to take their souls before the due date arrived. Now she finally understood why, the human body was sensitive and always in pain; no wonder they wanted to go in the after life. Even when she granted their requests, it would always leave a bitter taste in her mouth leaving her feeling like a murder but, now she sees Mukuro was right, he was always right. The delivers weren't the angels of death but of mercy.
Was this why Mukuro-sama was punishing her? By forcing her into a human body just so she could appreciate Gods mercy and obey orders?
With her eyes still shut Chrome began to pray.'Heavenly father, please forgive me. I have learned my lesson. Please return to me your favor so I may continue to serve you.'
No answer.
Her eyes flew opened. Why couldn't she hear the Heavenly father? He always answered his angels and she was still angel. Wasn't she? 'I'm not dead yet!' Chrome fought to untangle herself from the sheets that bind her body and continued to pray.
'Father please here my will-' then panic started to seize her insides. Someone should have answered by now anyone should of at this point. All the angels were connected mentally since the dawn of time. There was always angels answering prayers and singing in between jobs as the sound was never ending. She had frantically opened her mind in hopes of hearing their wonderful songs.
Silence.
A sob escaped her lips as the realization hit her. Banished. That's what she was now and it seems as if her whole world came tumbling down. She was officially abandoned, no Heavenly Father, no fellow angels, and no Mukuro-sama. "Oh God...No."
She had to get back! But how? 'Wait! There's always that!'
Chrome willed her wings to come forth but, felt two stabs of pain on her back. She tired to cry but couldn't as the pain was unbearable to bear with the torture racking her entire body only letting her force out a whimper. She turned around to see the source of her pain only to find...'Dear god no!' So it wasn't a dream after all, Mukuro did take her wings. No wonder she was in pain!
'No wings.' She covered her mouth to snuffle another sob. No wings means no heaven meaning...she was earth bound. Now how was she going to go back?!
Then realization hit her. Where was she? She was so focused on her loss of the inner realm that she didn't recognize where she was. In place of trees there was a wall of some sort in a dark room and she was on something soft but a sort of chair at the same time. The humans often refer it to a couch. But how on earth did she whined up her?
The last thing she remembered was hearing a soothing voice that was stern but soft as velvet. And something warm wrap itself around her being carrying her as if she could break easily. Then those eyes, it was only a glimpse but she was sure it was the most majestic thing she had ever saw. Sliver with a hint of blue around the edges and they had something in them that made her want to comfort that soul. But it must've been just a dream for surely no human can touch her and if they did then they would have surely died.
Still someone must've brought her to this place and left her inside the very scary and dark room. Who could've done it? It couldn't have been anyone she knows for she is already banished. Unless it wasn't anyone from heaven. Then did this mean she was considered as a fallen angel? Was Lucifer's servants after her now? In a fit of fear she scanned her room to see if there were any clues to where she might be. Then all of sudden she heard a sudden creak of footsteps near the door. Heavy footsteps, most likely male.
Who was he? What did he want from her? Was he here to take her? Then the door suddenly flung open, and a man burst through the room, flipped on the lights, and slammed the door shut. She froze in shock at the glare that was directed towards her and tofas in his hands.
The unknown man glanced around the room quickly and zoned his sights on her. "Herbivore."
She didn't know how to respond to that. Last time she checked celestial beings didn't eat at all, yet this man called her a plant eating creature. She was hurting, confused, scared, and strangely unnerved by this man's presence. He was regarding her with an unusual look. One that was a glare that had her want to cry under his gaze, yet held all sorts of emotions underneath that could tell he was cautious and alert but curious all at once. But past all of that he had a sort of intensity in his eyes that hinted at something else, something she couldn't place.
The man had to be human for he most certainly didn't have the angelic aura around him that she had once had. Something about him did give off the feeling that he was a warrior in his own right but she didn't know how. His once nice suit had cuts and slashes made into them, with bloodstains covering most of his purple under shirt, while his hair was ruffled up and a few scratch marks covered his handsome face. 'How earthly.' His eyes still watched her, the grayish blue irises reminding her of the sky just before a raging storm was unleashed with its powerful winds
Her gaze shifted to his hands where the tofas were. 'Is he here to protect me or hurt me?' is what lingered on her mind before she heard him speak again. "Herbivore. Are you alright?"
'That voice.' She recognizes it as the one talking to her as she faded in and out of consciousness. So soft yet demanding all at once yet she couldn't find it in herself to be scared of him. Realizing she wasn't answering him he put the tofas away and inched closer to her. 'Thank you lord.'
With a grateful sigh, she sat up as the covers fell. "May I ask what is your name?" He glanced up at her then straightening with a jerk. "Its-"
Right before he could say anything he saw her hunched over in pain. Rushing to her side of the couch,he tried to touch her, "No! Stay back!" She straightened, wincing at the pain. "You must keep Your distance from me. I. . . I could be dangrous." If this man touched her he might die.
His gazed dropped to her bare chest, then jerked away. "Herbivore. We have to do something about your breas-I mean wounds. On your back. You might need stitches."
Sew up her wing joints? "No!" She gasped pressing a hand to her chest.
He then glanced at her hand and then looked away. "We can't leave you injured. I-" He grimaced, squeezing his eyes shut and if looked at a tad closer one could say he had a slight blush spreading to his face. "I can't talk to you like this."
He looked like he was in pain. She wish she could comfort him but shew wasn't ready to touch him yet. "Is something hurting you? Maybe I could help?"
He opened his eyes, glaring at her. "Really herbivore. You seriously don't know?" The rough edge to his voice caught her off guard and sent shivers up her spine to the tips of her toes. His eyes darkened to a reddish color that she had never seen on a human before but on a demon yet he wasn't one.
She was so stunned by his eyes that she failed to noticed the cover he put over her chest. She gasped. "Please don't touch me!" She squirmed back onto the couch, kicking at him from under the safe barrier of the sheet. Her frantic movements ripped the sheet from his grip and causing them both to fall and lose fell back, gasping when her back hit the cushioned arm of the couch just as he fell on top of her, his outstretched hands landing on her breasts. Chrome froze, terrified she might've killed him.
With their faces inches apart, their eyes met. His once red eyes faded back into that gray she loved and they continued to stare at each other for what felt like an eternity. As she was looking into his eyes she caught a glimpse into his soul. A human soul. On the surface: honor, courage, strength but beneath : loneliness, regret and if she looked deep enough she could see something deeper something dark that was causing him pain.
He blinked and breathed staring back at her with the same intensity. He was still alive. "Your touching me," she whispered. Realizing what she ment he backed up quickly going to the other side of the couch. "Shit, I'm sorry I-"
"Yet you are still alive."
"Tch I should've been struck down." He closed his eyes and sighed, " Fuck, I just groped an angel."
"You know what I am?" "Yup. . .I didn't mean to assault you."
"You did nothing wrong." She sat up, winching at the pain." You fell and you were trying to catch yourself ."
With a moan, he dragged his hands down his face,"just kill me now."
"I mean you no harm."
"Then cover yourself herbivore before I make you." She recalled how Adam and Eve had covered themselves in shame. "Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend. I'm not used to looking like this. We do take form occasionally when we need to interact with mortals, but its merely an illusion. This body is different, though. It feels. . .real."
"It sure does," he muttered.
A dozen emotions swirled inside her. Embarrassment, confusion, pain, remorse, and fear that she'll never go home but midst's it all, she felt an overwhelming urge to touch this man. It had been so long since she could touch a human without them dying.
"You-you never told me your name," she whispered.
Looking up at her he smirked, "I'm Hibari Kyoya."
