A/N: Another prize for Twi, of TwiLanes! The prizes of the Mother's Day contest have been broken into parts and given to several people, and I hope that Twi enjoys hers!

"Mother?" asks the young filly, peeking into the dark, dark, always dark bedroom.

Two blue eyes open, the only thing visible in the room. There's the sound of blankets being moved, pulled higher up to the older mares shoulders. "I'm sleeping. Is this important?"

It is. Kind of. To Diamond Tiara at least, who is stil young and still wide-eyed - even if those eyes are closing fast, as her siblings are sent off to husbands, to work, to places where no one can ever know about.

Lots of things, small things, are important to her. Like the garden she's starting with her best friend, Silver Spoon, and the very first rose that has bloomed there.

She paws at the ground. "Maybe?"

"I have such an awful headache, baby girl," says Ruby Corona, voice soft and uneven. "Can't you tell mother about this later?"

A pause. Another paw. A slight sigh. "Yes, mother. I hope you feel better later."

Diamond Tiara leaves the rose lay in the hallway. She doesn't bring up the garden again.
