Chapter 11

Cave:

Serena was currently being carried by Tai as she rested from the fight to free the Gotsumon from the Golemon and then getting slammed by Gigasmon's Quagmire Twister. Renamon and Falcomon were still scouting things out while Gotsumon was their guide through the cave. Davis had been assigned to carrying Serena's backpack after they had eaten up. Cutemon had really needed to recharge after that battle. Unknown to those in the cave Joe, Sora, and their partners were on their way back to Infinity Mountain while Centaurumon explains what he could to Izzy and Mimi. Izzy did think to ask the knowledgeable digimon if they could use their digivices to communicate as well.

Centaurumon wasn't sure so Izzy starts playing around with button combinations. Mimi, Palmon, and Tentomon let him work. They knew if anyone could figure it out it would be Izzy. Being able to talk to the others would be helpful and they might be able to coordinate their attack on Infinity Mountain then.

Primary Village:

TK, Patamon, and Leomon all help Elecmon take care of the Baby digimon while also keeping an eye out for trouble though TK was practicing what Serena had taught him. He actually liked the idea of being a demon hunter. That was when Ogremon showed up, TK stands tall and his digivice starts to beep and glow, a rainbow colored light descending to cover Patamon, " Patamon digivolve to…Angemon. "

" Fist of the Beast King! "

" Pummel Whack! " Ogremon counter attacks.

" Hand of Fate! " Angemon adds in.

The virus type stumbles backwards and then goes to grab a baby. TK doesn't even think, he reacts, grabbing the baby digimon even as he goes into a perfect baseball slide, missing the tag. While he may prefer basketball he did play baseball on occasion. " You're okay, little guy, I've got you. "

Thanks to Serena TK was coming into his own and realizing that he could do things, even if he was small. " Angel Rod! "

TK takes the opportunity to aim his digivice at Ogremon and several black gears fly out of him, shrinking him down to size. With that being done Ogremon retreats, no sense in sticking around in a losing battle after all. " Can anyone hear me? "

" Hey, Izzy, is that you? " TK asks the voice coming from his digivice.

" Prodigious, we can communicate with our digivices. Where are you, TK? "

" Primary Village. "

" Understood, Mimi and I will be there shortly, stay cautious. " Izzy says.

" Got it, see ya soon, Izzy. " TK says.

At the temple Mimi, Palmon, and Tentomon cheer, they had managed to contact one of the others, " Tentomon, it's time for Kabuterimon, you can get us there with due speed. " Izzy says.

" Right, let's go join up with TK, Patamon, and hopefully Leomon. " Tentomon says and digivolves. Izzy, Mimi, and Palmon climb on, Izzy figured there must be a range and TK had been within that range for communication between the digivices.

Ice Cave:

Matt was getting better at keeping himself warm using his spirit energy and could even hold a conversation with Gabumon at this point, " We can't just sit here, Gabumon, we have to get to the others, to Infinity Mountain so we can help take down Devimon. "

" True, but we both know there'll be enemies out there to face before we can leave this portion of File Island and rejoin the others. " Gabumon says.

" I know, dammit. There has to be something we can do, we can't let the others down. I refuse to let a little ice and snow beat me. " Matt says, unknowingly tapping into his attribute of Friendship that he didn't even know he had at the moment. Gabumon didn't notice the light blue glow around his partner though he felt his partner's resolve.

They exit the cave and are immediately accosted by Frigimon. Matt was quick to grab his digivice and aim it at the snowman looking digimon. The black gear is destroyed and Frigimon apologizes profusely for what he had done, " No big, you were being controlled by that Black Gear. Any suggestions on how to get to Infinity Mountain? "

" I'm sorry but, no. I can help you find food while you're here though. " Frigimon says.

Matt had to admit they did need to eat, especially if Gabumon was to keep his strength up and digivolve. They needed to be at full power to take down the emo angel. " That would be nice, then we can set about figuring out how to get off this frozen rock. "

On the way to Infinity Mountain Joe and Sora's digivice indicate one of the others was close by, Birdramon flies down lower so the humans could talk easier, " Joe, one of the others seems to be on that icy island. "

" Unless it's Izzy they'll be stranded, better go check it out. " Joe admits. Only he, Sora, Izzy, and TK had flying partners or in his case one that could swim.

They reach the island and are immediately accosted by Mojyamon that have been infected by the Black Gears. Sora and Joe were quick to aim their digivices at them while their partners keep them busy. In the cave Matt, Gabumon, and Frigimon hear the sounds of a fight and go to investigate. Matt grins when he sees Birdramon and Ikkakumon, it meant he had a way off this frozen wonderland. Once Sora and Joe have dealt with the Mojyamon Matt races over to them, introducing them to Frigimon, Matt thanks Frigimon for all his help and climbs onto Ikkakumon for the ride over to the portion on File Island that had Infinity Mountain on it.

Frigimon spies the hole that the battle had left and sees all the gears, he hits them with his Sub Zero Ice Punch. This causes them to reverse direction and the island pieces start to reverse their drifting, heading back together.

Cave:

Serena's head is laying down on Tai's right shoulder as she naps while he carries her. They would have stopped and rested but they couldn't afford to. Of course, Serena had been supplying a lot of power and supporting several digivolutions as only Youkomon had been able to fit in the caves to fight easily. Tai couldn't blame her for needing to sleep at all. With Gotsumon's help they manage to make it out of the cave and find themselves close to the base of Infinity Mountain, they had fallen a long way down after all.

Davis makes sure to check on his partner once out in the light, after all of their eyes had adjusted. Thankfully they were all in relatively decent shape for what they had been through in that damnable cave. They take a brief break as they did need to be at full strength when they assaulted Devimon. Tai switches Serena around to a princess carry so he can sit down and she could still sleep. Renamon also takes advantage of their break to get some sleep along with Cutemon and Veemon. Agumon and Gotsumon along with Falcomon were left awake, hopefully they would be able to handle any trouble that came their way.

Serena snuggles in closer as Tai sits down, leaning back against a tree and the chocolate haired eleven year old never even notices his hold on her tighten slightly. Davis did notice and smiles briefly at this. Tai was instinctively protecting her while she slept.

Infinity Mountain:

Devimon curses as the children start coming back together. He needed to end the boy with the Agumon and the blonde haired girl as well. They were getting to be way too much of a problem. The emo angel smirks as he sends out Orochimon to deal with them.

Outside of Cave:

Davis pauses as his senses go taut, one thing he had learned early on was how to hone his sixth sense, " Tai-nii, we got trouble coming. "

Tai snaps alert, now that Davis mentioned it he could feel the change in the air, something was wrong, " Agumon, get ready. "

Tai and Davis both swear when they see Orochimon clearly, " Agumon digivolve to…Greymon! "

" Wind Blade! "

" Nova Blast! "

" Rock Fist! "

The attacks barely make a dent in Orochimon, though considering Orochimon happened to be an ultimate level digimon and only two rookies and a Champion were fighting him that was to be expected. Serena's eyes slit open and she curses long and loud as she takes in what's going on, " Yo, Renamon, we got trouble. "

Renamon snaps awake and the vixen snarls angrily, " Orochimon is a dark dragon virus attributed ultimate level digimon belonging to the nature spirit and nightmare soldiers families. His attacks are Inferno Blast and Ame no Murakumo. This will not be an easy victory. "

" Renamon digivolve to…Youkomon! "

The purple fox fires off her Fire Ball attack and Veemon startles awake, " Veemon digivolve to…Veedramon! Cutting Shoot! "

" Tail Crash! " Greymon calls out, managing to knock the ultimate level digimon back.

" Jaenryu! "

" Vee Nova Blast! "

Youkomon and Veedramon combine their attacks to knock their opponent off balance while Greymon goes in for Horn Impulse attack. " Ninja Blade! "

" Crazy Crusher! " Gotsumon calls out.

The two rookies manage to keep the much more powerful digimon off balance and the three humans are thinking quickly, trying to come up with a way to win the current fight they were in. Unknown to them they are being watched by a boy wearing square green goggles and a red digimon that had ended up getting blown through a portal after beating their ultimate enemy along with their team. The boy's gray eyes take in the battle before him, for being at lower levels they were doing remarkably well against Orochimon. He could also see all three humans were searching for a way to win, " Should we help them, Shoutmon? "

" Isn't the girl someone you know? " Shoutmon asks, he'd seen the pictures in his partner's home and thought he recognized the blonde haired girl.

The gray eyed boy looks closer and curses softly under his breath, " Serena, well damn, now we have to help out. "

The last time he had seen her she was three and in the hospital after nearly getting her left arm amputated in a burglary gone wrong. He wouldn't be surprised if she didn't remember him and his mother really didn't like her sister and tried to avoid spending time with them. She would have loved to spend time with her niece as she had seen the looks her sister sent towards her daughter, " She's my baby cousin, younger by two years. "

He watches as she charges up a spirit chakram and sends it sailing towards Orochimon only to get his attention on her. She manages to keep ahead of the ultimate level digimon for a while as none of them digimon dared attack him while she was so close, then she misjudges a landing and collapses in a heap, " All right, that's it, " the burgundy haired, gray eyed boy says, pulling out his red digivice and spinning the dial before pressing the center button, " Shoutmon, Ballistamon, Digi Fuse! "

" Shoutmon! "

" Ballistamon! "

" Digi Fuse! " both cry out together, " Shoutmon times two! "

Shoutmon times two blocks the attack on the blonde, " That's enough out of you, Orochimon. "

Serena looks up at the digimon above her while the burgundy haired boy manages to get over to her, " Times two, finish him. "

" With pleasure. Sonic Tsunami! "

Serena looks up at the older boy and blinks, did she know him? Then recognition sets in and sapphire eyes light up, " Taiki-itoko? "

" Wasn't sure if you'd remember me or not, Serena. "

" Decent family, didn't think I had any more of that. " Serena admits.

Times two's attack slams into Orochimon and Youkomon was quick to capitalize, going in with tooth and claw before darting back out. " Times two, let's go. "

" Right, Taiki. "

" Shoutmon times two, Dorulumon, Starmon, Pickmonz, Knightmon, PawnChessmon, Digi Fuse! "

Soon Shoutmon times four K stands ready for battle and Tai's eyes widen even as he and Davis walk over to the cousins, " Fire Wall! "

" Vee Nova Blast! "

Taiki pulls his cousin to her feet and she leans on him ever so slightly, she knew she could trust Taiki. " Great Sword of Victory! "

With that attack Orochimon is taken care of, finally. The Digi Fuse is ended and Taiki's team is introduced to Tai and the others along with the humans introducing themselves to each other as well. " Well, guys, should we stay and help them out? "

" Can I just say it would be nice to get to know my cousin better? " Serena muses out loud.

Taiki chuckles though he was concerned about her decent family comment. Any decent person would be, " Why not, we got nothing better to do, Taiki. " Shoutmon says.

" True, and I would like to get to know Renamon and Veemon better, they're rather rare digimon after all. " Dorulumon says.

" I guess we're hanging with you guys then though we did just get done taking down Bagra in our sector of the Digital World. "

" Hey, as King I need to know the other sectors, plus, this gives us a chance to hone our skills more. " Shoutmon says.

" Where do we need to go? " Taiki asks.

" Up the mountain. " Tai answers.

" Aw man, more climbing. " Shoutmon grumbles.

Serena opens up her back pack and pulls out some food so they could all eat up, then Renamon digivolves to Youkomon again and Taiki climbs on board with Tai, Davis, and Serena while storing the rest of the Digimon in his digivice, which he explains is known as a Fusion Loader. Youkomon blitzes up the mountain even as Mimi and the others reach TK. Kabuterimon gives Leomon a lift while Angemon carries TK. Sora and her group are also on their way to the mountain. The final confrontation with Devimon is coming, how will it go with the addition of the Xros Heart United Army's General in the mix?

Devimon stands waiting on them, confused as to the appearance of the new human with green rectangular goggles on. He had also never heard of Shoutmon, Ballistamon, or several of the others as well. This did not bode well for the evil angel.
