~Chapter 10~
Taylor's POV:
Twin... I have a twin... I thought to myself as she led me up the stairs through a narrow hallway. Candles lit our way as we passed a few rooms. Upstairs it was all Victorian style. The walls were arranged perfectly, allowing minimum lighting into the corridors. Shadows danced on the walls and carpeted floor, entangled in the slinet sounds of our foot steps. We came to the end of the corridor, and in front of us was a large panting. The border of the painting was edge in gold, the wooded frame dulled by time. The photo itself was of our mother, and grandmother. I could see now that she looked more like mom than I did, though we shared a few of father's similarities.
In the photo, our mother was about our age. Her eyes a deep red, hair a soft silver. Small freckles adorned her cheeks and nose. Veira looked almost just like her, except for the light brown hair and eyes, both traits we must have gotten from our father. However, Veira's eye shape and slightly more sharp features seemed to oddly reminded me of Granny. I gazed up at the picture, a feeling of guilt washing over me as I remembered my mother and Granny on their final moments. The feeling left almost as soon as is came. They were the bad guys, I couldnt feel guilty for what happened to them.
"Mother didnt like to talk about our Father you know..." Veira spoke quietly, pulling my thoughts away from the photo and tha past. I turned to look at her. Her face was soft and she had a small smile on her face, her eyes glued to me.
"Why's that?" I asked almost tentavly. She reached out and took my hand in hers, her skin warm against my cold fingers.
"He wouldn't let her have you, she wanted to make you a powerful vampire, just like me..." She tugged my hand, pulling me through a door I hadnt noticed before. It led to another hall, this one lit by bright chandaliers. She tugged me down the hallway, our shadows plasteed against the walls.
"I was always curious, however, about you and father..."
"I didnt even know I had a twin," I muttered quietly walking a few steps behind her. She nodded slightly, her hair moving along her shoulder.
"Father doesnt know either. Grandmother wanted it that way, wanted to keep us secret, but dad knew that mother was pregnant, so she had to leave on child with him," I stopped walking, tugging my hand away from hers.
"So all those times that mom was gone from me she was here? Training you to be a vampire?" She turned her body a little, not quite facing me fully.
"Something like that... Most of my abilities came without training, all I had to do was learn control and such," My head started to throb, everything was getting so confusing. She took my hand again and lead me down the hall to a door.
"You will be staying here... There are clothes and a bath inside, along with a bed... Please make yourself comfortable..." Before I could say anything she vanished. I looked down the hall for her, but not a trace was there. I stood outside the door, trying to calm myself. I entered the room behind the door.
I closed the door securly behind me, looking around. It was dimly lit by cream colored candles. The scent of sage wafted around the room. The bed was up against the far wall, and there was another door only a few feet away from it, leading to the ajoining bathroom. I stepped up to the bed, noticing the neatly folded clothes that rested on a pure white pillow.
I slid my hands over the fabric of the blanket, feeling its soft comforting texture. I tugged at the blanket, moving it between my fingers. I ran my hands down the blanket once more before picking up the clothes, and stepping over to the bathroom door. It opened without a sound.
I reached to the left, fumbling for a light, before flicking it on. The bright light blinded my eyes for a moment, before they adjusted. The room was simple, a bath, sink and toilet, everything the simple color of white. I moved inside slowly, closing the door behind me. I set the clothes down on the sink, and sat down on the edge of the tub.
My mind was racing now. The simple kidnapping had become more, I had found my twin, a twin I didn't even knew I had. And I was stuck in this place, filled with vampires, creatures that I needed to kill in order to keep the humans safe.
I placed my face in my hands. What was I going to do? I couldn't just up and leave, they would just kill me. I couldn't fight back either, that would just be idoicy. I was severely out matched in strength, speed and numbers. I would just have to wait it out until Aubrey came to save me...
Thats all you ever do... Wait around to be saved...
I jerked my head up at the voice. I looked around the bathroom frantically, expecting to see someone, anyone, however i was still alone.
Your useless as a human... You cant take care of yourself at all...
It was in my head, the voice I could hear. I slid off the tubs edge onto the floor, moving my hands to my ears, trying to block out the voice.
Your weak, worthless like this... Dont you see that?
I pressed my face into my knees, rocking myself slowly.
"Go away..."
"I can't go away... I am you..." I looked up, noticing that the voice now had body. Her hair was silvery, tinted purple in areas. Her eyes, bright red. She held her hand out for me.
"Become one with me again, let me awaken your strength. And you can take care of your self. You wont need Aubrey. You wont need them at all. Just yourself," She paused for a moment, smiling at me, fangs and all.
"Isn't being alone easier? You wont have to worry about your friends. You could be ahead of the game. They want you anyways, why would you want to cause them more suffering?"
She took my hand and grasped it firmly. My eyes locked on hers, and it was like she was flowing into my body from my fingertips, dissolving into a shattering light. It ascended my arm across my chest and I could feel the changing of my body as I became, once again, a vampire. My hair turned silver, my eyes stung as they turned red. My muscles became stronger and I could feel my body rearranging itself once again. Her laughter echoed through my head, and I collapsed against myself, turning my head I could see Gaara's sand eye, leaving the bathroom. Above my head the light flickered out, surrounding me in darkness.
Then... I was alone...
Aubrey's POV:
We had managed to enter the main hall before Gaara paused, grasping his head in his hands. We stood around him as he caught his breath. He groaned as he stood up right. Instantly I grabbed his shirt pulling up to my face.
"What happened? What did you see?" When his eyes refocused they locked on mine.
"Taylor just accepted her other half, she's a vampire again." I pulled away from him, dropping him to the ground. It took him a second before he stood back up. Temari and Kankuro looked around, unsure of what to do.
"What does this mean, Aubrey?" Temari finally asked, stepping up beside me. I glanced at her, before gazing back down the corridor.
"It means that we need to hurry the hell up and find her. Gaara come one, we can't waste anymore time," Gaara nodded in agreement and started to walk past me, towards the end of the hall. Half way there, the air turned cold. We all stopped in our progress to the door and glanced around. The door opened slowly, without a sound. We all took a stance, bending our knees and pulling out a weapon. Four vampires entered the hallway, each with a giant grin on their faces.
"Hey look, some fresh meat~" The shortest giggles. The others chuckled at her lame ass joke before taking on a battle stance as well.
"Might as well have some fun," Another said, baring his fangs.
"Considering Bradley wouldn't let us touch the pipsqueak he brought in," The one in the back snarled. I felt my blood pumping through my veins. Anger engulfed me, alighting my senses with fire. In my hand I pointed my dagger at them, and growled viciously.
"Awww look at the little puppy,~" The little girl giggled again. Beside me Kankuro smirked.
"I wouldn't call her that. This beast isn't quite tamed..." And I lunged forward with a roar.
