Chapter 10: Screaming, Monsters, and a Sleepover

"Alright Kisuke, I'm leaving," I called out as I left the shop with my overnight bag so I could have fun at the sleepover with Tatsuki and Orihime.

"Have fun! Be careful," he called out in a sing-song voice. I sighed. The person whose roof I'm living under is an idiot.

I walked down the streets with Tatsuki's written directions, address, and my map in front of my face. To tell the truth, I was excited about having a sleepover with two of my best friends. This was something that would definitely be fun for all three of us. As I walked along, I hummed a tune that got cut short by a scream that pierced the air. It sounded like the one from that spirit girl so I took off running towards it.

"Help me, please! I can't defend myself against it! Help!" I ran down the alley that the scream came from and saw her standing at the end with the monster there.

"Oh crap. This one is even bigger than the last one." I ran forward and grabbed her to move her out of the way of the monster that attacked. "We have to stand clear of it or it will kill us."

"I know. Can you help me?"

"I have no idea. I will try my best though. I'm going to fight it as good as I can. Stay over here." I ran out from our cover and looked up at the monster. "Alright, you monster! Come and get me! I won't let you hurt that girl! Come and try to fight me! I'll beat you!"

"You can't beat me, but I would love to eat your soul as an appetizer."

"Just try it!"

The power wasn't coming, but I knew I couldn't run. I had to protect the girl. I had to stand my ground and wait for the power to come to me so I could protect her. As the monster got close to me, I started to worry. It wasn't working. I wasn't getting the power back. The monster finally made it to me and tried to smash me, but I jumped to the side to avoid it.

"You can't fight the hollow," yelled the girl as she ran to me.

"You shouldn't have come out!" I picked her up and then just started to run. "Maybe we can outrun it!"

"Not likely!"

"We're going to die then!"

"Come back here so I can have my meal!"

"It's after us!"

"I know that! I'm running as fast as I can!"

"Then run faster!"

"Not helping!"

"I don't want to die! Run faster!"

"I can't!" A blue thing whizzed past us, too fast for me to see what it was. I turned my head back to look, stopping when I saw that the monster was disappearing.

"Why'd you stop?" the girl shouted right in my ear.

"Stop yelling. It's gone. It just disintegrated."

"Disintegrated? Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure. I wouldn't have said that about a monster chasing us unless I was sure."

"What do we do now?"

"You need to settle any regrets you have so you can pass on. You can't stay here or you will keep getting attacked."

"I don't know how to settle my regret. The regret I have is that I wasn't able to tell my family that I love them one last time. They're dead now."

"Oh. I have no idea how to help you then. There has to be a way to make you pass on without settling that regret."

"I don't think that's possible."

"Well, in the meantime, I guess that you can stay with me. Come on. I have a sleepover to attend with two great friends of mine."

"You're taking me with you?"

"I can't really leave you here. You might get attacked again."

"What if I get attacked while we're with your friends?"

"Oh crap! I can't let that happen to them! But I can't let you get attacked either! This is so confusing!"

"You can't put your friends in danger for me."

"If you're sure, I can't force you to do anything." I put her on the ground and then stared to look at my map. "Now, where could we possibly be? I need to figure out how to get there."

"If it's your friend's house, shouldn't you know where it is?"

"To be honest, I can barely even find my own place." We locked eyes with each other as silence stretched between us. A scowl formed on her face and she crossed her arms.

"You're hopeless. What's the address?" I held up the paper with the address on it. She sighed. "We're two blocks away."

"Woah! Really? That's convenient!"

"You're an idiot."

"Hey! That was uncalled for and very rude considering the fact that I saved you from being crushed!"

"Who are you anyways?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Because I'm curious."

"Ok. Chill out. My name is Yama."

"I'm Yoko."

"It's nice to meet you, Yoko."

"The same to you. Anyways, if you go two blocks that way, you should see your friend's house. I should get going. Thank you for the help."

"Thank you Yoko. Be careful out there."

"Interesting, she's letting the spirit go off alone." I screamed and held onto Yoko while staring at the guy from class.

"Don't do that! That's creepy!" He laughed sheepishly.

"Heh-heh. Sorry."

"Sadly, I know you aren't."

"Can you let me go now?"

"Oh! Sorry Yoko." I set Yoko down on her feet again and released my hold on her with a smile. "Have fun and be careful. Try to avoid big, scary monsters."

"I will. Bye Yama."

"Bye Yoko."

"You're really letting the spirit girl go?" I looked back at my classmate.

"Well, what am I supposed to do; use her chain to tie her up and drag her with me?" I asked sarcastically.

"That could work." My jaw dropped in shock at what he said.

"Are you freaking serious?" I snapped after a moment of silence between us.

"Maybe, maybe not."

"Sadly, this is the closest to normal that you've been since we met," I said in a bland tone with an annoyed look on my face.

"That isn't very nice," he replied in the same way.

"Oh, just quit it already! Come on Yama! You have to get to your friend's house! I'll show you the way! Just come with me." Yoko ran over and grabbed my hand so she could drag me towards Tatsuki's place.

"So, that's the story. I'm really lucky that you guys can see the monsters and are forcing her to stay safe with Orihime," I told Orihime and Tatsuki while pointing at Yoko.

"I'll take good care of her!"

"Thanks Orihime. Now, since that's all settled… LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED AND JUMP TO THE BEAT OF THE MUSIC IN THIS PLACE!"

"The music isn't that loud," Tatsuki told me. "I have neighbors."

"I know. I just wanted to say it! Now, let's have fun!"

(A/N: I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SORRY! I CAN NEVER APOLOGIZE ENOUGH FOR THE LONG WAIT, BUT I HAD WRITER'S BLOCK AND IT WAS A REAL B****! I'M SORRY! I don't own Bleach or its characters. I own Yama, Yoko, the hollow, and crazy classmate dude. Thanks for reading! Have a nice day!)
