"So you just kidnapped me. Couldn't just beat me up and kill me," Blaine asked the room. "Would have been a lot easier that way."
Andy just laughed. "I don't want you dead, Blainey."
"Yeah, we just want to hang out," Mark said coming in from another room.
"So do you have all my old drug buddies from Kennedy working for you," Blaine asked Andy.
"Nope, some are from Dalton," he replied smiling. "Blaine, I don't like losing business and losing business to a fagot I really don't like."
"So now I'm an even bigger problem because I'm gay," Blaine asked him. The entire room just nodded a little. None of them wanted to admit that they didn't like gay men. "Funny, Greg, I remember myself fucking you in the ass pretty well," Blaine said catching one of the boys off guard. "And quick question. When's the last time any of you had really good sex?"
No one answered Blaine. Greg just looked at Blaine signifying that his last time was probably when they fucked in the locker room at Dalton.
"Funny, I had some really, really, really good sex about nine hours ago. Damn, that boy knows how to handle me," Blaine said remembering his and Kurt's night together. "While you guys are masturbating and high, I'm making love to my boyfriend in complete control of my senses. I can feel everything he does to me. And he drives me crazy," Blaine paused, "and Greg the sex wasn't that good. I was just trying to get off and you were the closes asshole I could get into."
"Literally," Kyle, another boy Blaine knew at Dalton, said making the room laugh.
"Very true," Blaine joined in on the laughter.
"Blaine, you weren't trying to get me in trouble texting me tonight were you," Andy asked him once the laughter subsided.
"Well," Blaine said.
"Because you seemed pretty adamant about not using while you were getting regular ass," Andy added.
"Again literally," Kyle laughed, this time no one else joined him.
"Learn when to stop," Mark whispered to him.
The room just stared at Blaine waiting for an answer to Andy's question that they were all satisfied with. They all knew that Blaine was going to try and get their precious dealer arrested because of what happened the previous year. Jack Anderson was relentless and was constantly trying to get revenge for Andy hurting Blaine.
"Look, man, I know, but sometimes when my sister pisses me off I just have to go against him," Blaine said. He was being very careful not to say Kurt's name to make sure that he wasn't found if they needed anything else that Blaine wasn't willing to provide to them in this little interrogation they were having.
"Yeah, you're sister has always been that way hasn't she," Andy laughed.
Blaine thought for a moment. He remembered all the times that Rachel had come to his rescue. When they were little and the other kids would pick on Blaine for running around the playground singing instead of Rachel joining in with the other kids she sat next to Blaine and sang alone with him or she would yell at the other children for him and they would just walk away. "She's not all bad," he responded.
"Could have fooled me," Andy chuckled.
"You're the one that put me in the hospital and got me hooked on drugs," Blaine quickly rebutted and stood up from his seated position. "If I'm not a prisoner, I'm leaving," he said walking towards the door.
"Blainey, what about your stash," Andy asked holding up the bag he showed Blaine earlier. "We know that you want it. Just give in," he said taking a few steps closer to Blaine. "And…you are a prisoner."
"What the hell happened," Burt yelled.
"I don't know. I woke up there was a note saying that he had a plan to get Andy arrested," Kurt said showing Burt the note Blaine had left him.
Burt read it over quickly as Carole and Jack walked into the room. Rachel stopped at the door and received a huge hug from Finn.
Kurt walked over to his friend and smiled. "I'm sorry," he said hugging her once Finn let her go.
"I'm sorry too," she said sobbing into his shoulder. "I'm so scared."
"Me too," Kurt told her holding her closer and finally letting himself cry.
"Kurt," Jack said from the other room making the three teenagers walk into the living with the adults, "what were you doing before you went to bed?"
Kurt started blushing, "um, we were…uh…"
"Got it," Jack cut him off knowing that they were teenagers and hormones were sometimes impossible to control. "Then you just fell asleep?"
"Yeah. A little chatting but we were both so tired that we just crashed," Kurt responded just before a knock at the door.
"Must be the police," Carole said walking to answer the front door.
"Do you know anything," Jack immediately asked once they got in the house. Jack noticed that the same officer he had been speaking to just two days prior was one that came to the house. "So are you gonna do anything now since my son is missing," he screamed.
"Jack," Carole said trying to calm the man down.
"The last time my kid went missing he ended up almost fucking dead. I want no one telling me to calm down or to breathe because I'm done with that shit. These 'officers' haven't done their fucking job and now my kid is missing," he was screaming.
Rachel had never seen her father so upset before. She always figured that he was a little indifferent when it came to Blaine, especially after sending him to boarding school. "Dad, he'll be okay. Kurt knows where he went."
"Yeah, but he's not there now," Kurt said.
"We've checked the church. He's not there," one officer said.
"Police records said that we got a call around three o'clock in the morning pointing us to that church to arrest Andy Norton," the other said.
"HE CALLED YOU AND YOU DIDN'T LISTEN," Rachel and Kurt yelled at the same time.
"The employee who answered thought it was a prank," the first officer told the enraged teens.
Finn looked at his brother and girlfriend. Kurt looked like he could easily kill someone and not have a second thought about it. Rachel just looked like she wanted to scream and he was pretty sure she might actually start.
"I'm gonna try and call him again," Kurt said walking away.
The call went straight to voicemail. 'You've reached Blaine. Kurt I'm okay don't worry. I know you'll figure it out. Love you.'
"What," Kurt said aloud confused by the voicemail message that was on Blaine's phone. If he changed his voicemail message that means he really is still breathing and still has access to his phone, but how? Why would Andy allow Blaine to keep his phone with him? He had to know that Blaine might try and contact someone on the outside or just call the police.
Finn and Rachel walked into the kitchen to join Kurt. "What's wrong," Finn asked once he saw the look on Kurt's face.
"His voicemail," Kurt responded, "it was a message to me. Telling me he's okay. He still has his phone."
Finn and Rachel stood staring at Kurt not knowing how to react. They were having the same thoughts Kurt was having just after he listened to the voicemail.
The three of them walked back into the living room and saw Jack arguing with both police officers. "Hey," Rachel screamed making everyone in the room turn to look at the teens standing in the doorway. "Kurt has little more information."
Kurt stood there with all eyes on him. He couldn't focus. 'I know you'll figure it out,' Blaine's words were running through his head repeatedly. Figure what out? He wished Blaine would have been a little more specific. He gripped his phone. "The text," he said and pulled out his phone and opened the last text message he received from Blaine. "This. He texted me this early this morning," he said handing his phone to the officers standing in his living room.
"XDC 736," the officer said out loud, "license plate?"
"I'll call to have it checked out," the other said walking away with Kurt's phone speaking into his radio attached to his uniform.
"Come on, Blaine," Greg said while he was high and getting a little handsy with Blaine.
Blaine kept having to remove Greg's hands from his crotch. "I have a boyfriend," Blaine told him firmly, again. "You need to keep your hands off my cock."
"Dude, just give in," Mark told him pouring his in front of Blaine in a long line of powder.
"No," Blaine said shakily. He could smell the drug and was beginning to lose his will power. He wanted it so bad, but he wanted Kurt more. Their nights together kept flashing in Blaine's mind giving him a little more control over his addiction. He could smell Kurt's cologne and feel his touch while sitting in the basement of Andy's home.
"Just do it," Andy said form behind him, "you're never gonna see that little boyfriend of yours again."
"What did you do," Blaine said jumping up from the floor. "If you hurt him I swear to God I will fucking slit your throat."
"Calm down, Blaine," Andy said pushing Blaine back to the floor. "I'm not gonna hurt your little twink. You're just not leaving here. I need insurance I'm gonna lose a customer again."
"Well, I'm not paying you for anything and I'm not doing anything," Blaine responded as his eyes went back to the drug in front of him. 'One last time. It won't hurt Kurt if I try it one more time,' Blaine thought to himself.
"That look in your eye," Andy cooed, "you want it. You're having a hard time resisting that urge you have inside. Just a taste Blaine. One little taste. The boyfriend will never know."
"No," Blaine screamed and got up and walked across the room, "I'm not being peer pressured into doing this again. This and drinking until I black out. I know how you all operate. You forget I was one of you not that long ago," Blaine was beginning to rant to the other boys sitting in the basement doing drugs and drinking until they couldn't remember their own names. "Don't you see what you're doing to yourselves? Numbing the senses and black out drinking? You're all going to die down here listening to Andy tell you that what you're doing isn't wrong."
"Kid, how many times do I have to tell you to shut the fuck up," Andy yelled again and made his way to Blaine.
"Never," Blaine shouted stepping out of Andy's path. He knew that this old dealer was higher than a kite and drunk as hell. If just kept moving Andy would eventually give up. Sort of like running down hill in zigzags to out run a bear.
"You can't keep this up you know," Kyle said to Blaine. "He always wins."
Blaine stared at his old friends for a long moment. "What happened to you guys? You all had bright futures and now you're tangled up with Andy Norton," Blaine asked moving again so Andy couldn't grab him.
"We never had futures, Blaine," Mark stated. "All of us shipped off from home to boarding school to survive on our own."
"Don't you think there may be a reason for that," Blaine asked dodging Andy again.
"Everyone upstairs," Andy hollered making everyone jump and run upstairs. "Except you," he said stopping Blaine at the bottom of the staircase.
Andy followed the other boys upstairs and left Blaine alone. He looked around the dark room and heard the click of a lock at the top of the stairs. "Great," he moaned. The only light was coming from the center of the room dangling from the ceiling over the giant stash that his former friends and dealer would take from every day. He didn't know how much longer he could hold out without Kurt there to talk sense into him. This might be the end of recovery.
"It was a license plate registered to Andy Norton," the officer said walking back into the house.
"Why would the guy register his car in his own name," the other asked, "seems a little sloppy."
"Who cares," Jack stated, "where does he live? I want my son back."
"Sir, we're going to have to ask that you stay here until we locate Mr. Norton," the officer said.
"Not a chance in hell," Jack responded.
"Jack, let them locate Blaine then we'll follow," Carole suggested.
Jack stormed out of the living room and into the kitchen.
"He's never been this worried before. When Blaine got beat up we at least knew where he was," Rachel said out loud to no one in particular.
Kurt slipped out of the room and followed Jack into the kitchen. "Mr. Anderson," he said timidly walking into the kitchen.
"Hey, Kurt," he replied taking a sip of the water he poured himself.
"I'm sorry," Kurt said sitting down next to the man at the island in the middle of the room.
"Why," Jack asked, "you didn't do anything, but care about him."
"I know, but—"
"No buts, Kurt," Jack interrupted, "you love my son and for that you have nothing to apologize for. You helped him get clean and forced him to play music again. Thank you for all of that. I see my son again."
"I'm glad," Kurt replied, "I just wish he had talked to me more about his problem."
"Kurt," Jack asked, "does he resent me?"
"What," Kurt asked shocked, "if he does he never lets on," he told the man. "I know that he had problems with how you treated him and Rachel. He feels like she was the favorite because she kept singing and he quit."
"I don't think it helped that I kept shuffling him off to different boarding schools," Jack let out a rough chuckle.
Kurt took the man's hand. "He begged. He told me the stories. He wanted to go to Kennedy. He got kicked out because of the drugs. And then you didn't want him back in public school because he's gay and there's bullies. Believe me I know what that's like," he said. "Did he tell you that he scared away my bully? I don't know what he said, but right after we started dating the biggest ass in McKinley stopped messing with me."
"Sounds like Blaine," Jack finally smiled. "He used to protect his sister when they were kids. People would pick on her because of well, you know Rachel. He'd always pick a fight and win. The kids never messed with his sister again."
Both of them laughed and shared stories of Blaine.
"You raised a good man," Kurt told him after a few minutes. "We're in high school and he's thinking about our future together. He's completely set on us getting married as soon as he graduates."
"Really," Jack asked shocked, "he never struck me as the guy to settle down."
"Yeah, but he's got me now," Kurt smiled, "I really love him. He's the only person that ever reciprocated how much I loved them. Minus my dad."
"I can tell," Jack responded, "they way you have been so fidgety and constantly checking your phone hoping to hear from him. That night you spent in our lawn laying with him during withdrawals. If you didn't love him I'd be really shocked and impressed with your acting."
They both sat in silence for a few more moments before Finn walked in. "They found Andy's house and car. He's at home."
Kurt and Jack jumped from their seats and ran to the living room to join the adults.
"We have confirmation that Mr. Norton's vehicle is at his house. We're going in quiet so he can't run. Let's hope that Blaine's still there," the officer said to the room.
"We're bringing four more teams to help us bring down the suspect and anyone who may be helping," the other said. "We'll let you know."
Both officers walked out of the house.
"I'm going," Jack said.
"Me too," Kurt agreed.
"Not a chance in hell are you going," Burt told his son.
"You either," Carole scolded Finn.
"I didn't say anything," Finn said throwing his arms in the air to surrender.
"Rachel, stay here," Jack told his daughter. "I can't risk you too."
"Dad, don't argue with me. He's the love of my life and I have to be there," Kurt told Burt.
"Kurt, what if something goes wrong," Burt asked him calmly.
"I'll stay in the car until it's clear, but dad, this is Blaine," Kurt said almost crying, "he's everything to me."
Burt thought for a moment. Even if he told Kurt he couldn't go with Jack he wouldn't listen and he'd go on his own and that scared Burt even more.
"Please stay safe," he told his son.
Kurt quickly hugged Burt and left with Jack.
"I think we all should go. Show Blaine how much we care," Finn suggested mumbling.
"I know you want to show Blaine how much you care, Finn, but it's not safe," Carole told her son.
Burt looked around. That kid made Kurt believe in love again. He loved Kurt and that's all Burt ever wanted was someone to love his son unconditionally. Blaine was doing just that…loving his son. "Let's go," Burt said ushering the group out the door and into the car quickly so he didn't lose Jack's vehicle.
Blaine was curled up sweating on the basement floor. He was seconds away from giving into his body and taking the drug as he used to. He could feel himself unconsciously inching towards the stash in the middle of the room. He knew he shouldn't be as tempted as he was, but maybe he wasn't completely over his addiction. He knew that relapse was always going to be a danger and he needed to stay away from what he was hooked on to begin with.
Before he knew what was happening he was high again for the first time in weeks. He hated himself for giving in, but without Kurt standing near him he had no will power. He could see Kurt's disapproving face, but he knew that Kurt still loved him no matter what. This was the last time he'd ever…
The cops pulled up outside of Andy's trashy house.
The yard had old car parts scattered and the paint was peeling off the house. There were windows with only one shutter with the other lying somewhere close on the ground or wraparound porch.
"Stay quiet," one officer said as they all surrounded the house silently weapons drawn just in case they were in for a fire fight.
Jack and Kurt pulled up and quickly got out of the car trying not to make a single sound.
The officer that Jack had been dealing with since Blaine told him about Andy was closing in on the door. He didn't knock just walked in.
Once he was in the house the other officer stood still waiting for a command to move in and made arrests as needed.
Burt pulled up behind Jack and Kurt as slowly as possible to keep noise down. They all got out and went to their family members waiting for news of some sort to come from the officers.
They all heard a struggle within the house making the rest of the officers move in to give assistance.
Kurt was holding his breath while he heard three gun shots from an officer's riffle.
Rachel was holding onto Finn like he was the only thing keeping her from falling to the ground with a panic attack.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
They heard three more shots. Two officers came out with a teenage boy being held by the arm and thrown into a squad car.
Another came out with a guy Kurt remembered as Mark after Blaine pointed him out in a year book.
Nobody knew what was happening inside. They just knew that the police hadn't brought out Andy or Blaine yet.
Several minutes passed before the officer came out with an older man. Jack and Kurt immediately knew that this man was Andy Norton.
The arresting officer walked over to the group. "The first floor is clear. We're getting bolt cutters to get into the basement," he told Jack.
"Officer Ewing," another shouted from the door.
The officer turned and walked back into the house.
Jack ran after him knowing this was about Blaine.
Kurt moved to follow and Burt grabbed him. He struggled for a moment before breaking out of his father's grip.
"Kurt," Finn yelled passing Rachel to Carole for someone to hold onto and chasing his brother.
Kurt ran to the house feeling like the entire world was in slow motion. He didn't know what he was going to find once he got into the house. Blaine could be fine and they'd share a deep kiss or he could be lying on the floor dead.
He got to the house and ran down the basement stairs.
Jack was standing at the bottom as though he had been frozen that way for years.
Kurt looked around at the officers then down at the floor in the middle of the room. There Blaine lay looking lifeless.
"Blaine!"
Again…so mean. Promise I'll have answers for you tomorrow if not late tonight because I've been on such a roll with this fic this week that I just can't stop writing. Luckily, I'm all caught up at work so writing here and there while on the job isn't that big of a deal. I've never been caught so you know. But I hope you enjoyed the angst and the sweet stuff. Follow? Favorite? Review? Love you.
