Hey, i know it wasn't that long ago that I posted a chapter but Kirsten had to go to Germany for a German exchange and said that she would kill me if I didn't post whilst she was away. So here is is :)
~Vicky~
Eventually Kirsten and I had fallen asleep; when I woke I found Kirsten rummaging through her suite case, a red mark on her cheek from where I had slapped her last night.
'Whatcha doing?' I asked standing up and stretching, sleeping sitting up can really do a number on your back.
'Just looking for something,' she replied. I walked over and sat down next to her.
'Does your face hurt?' I asked staring at the bruise.
'Not really, only when I touch it,' she replied smiling, I gave her an apologetic smile in return and turned to the bags in front of us.
'Do you mind if I look through your bags and see what we actually have?' I asked picking up the smaller bag first.
'Go ahead,' she answered waving her hand towards them.
Before I opened the bad I stood up again and collected a piece of paper, quill and something to rest on from the desk in the middle of the room. Opening the bag I started to make a list of its contents.
Smaller bag;
Sunblock
Toiletries (eg, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap)
Medication (simple medication such as aspirin)
Jewellery
Sunglasses
Hair accessories eg. Hair grips/ties
A small handheld mirror
Suite case bag;
Dresses (from this Era)
Fans
Hats
Normal clothes eg. T-shirts and pants (Pants! I think I am going to cry)
Shoes
Laundry Powder
4 Teddies
Long life food & cereal
Pajamas (Thank the gods, I am so sick of waking up tangled in my dress)
When I was finished I placed the quill in its original place picking up one of the objects I and turned to Kirsten asking;
'Why do you have laundry powder in your bag?'
'Because everyone who went on the cruise got a box, oh and you can take your teddy back now.' She replied handing me back my bear.
When Kirsten told us that she was going on a cruise Becca and I let her borrow our favourite teddies for support, because she was worried about being away from her friends.
I accepted the bear with a thankyou and hugged it to me. It has been my favourite stuffed animal since year eight. For my birthday that year, Dana and Becca took me to the plaza (a giant shopping centre) to go to the movies (Dana's present) and for me to pick out another present from Becca. The fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie had just come out so naturally that is the movie that we saw. Afterwards we looked around the store, the new Build A Bear had just opened so we looked inside. That is how I got my bear; Captain Awesome, designed to look just like Jack. They had a whole stall designated to the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. Becca made a Barbosa and Dana made a random pirate with a mixture of them all. Kirsten wasn't there as we didn't know her that well yet, but later on we found out that she had made a Will bear. Captain Awesome has Jack's hat and hair with pants, boots, shirt, coat and a sword all designed to look like Jack. Kirsten's was the same only designed to look like Will, the same with Becca and her Barbosa bear.
Using a hair tie I pulled my hair up into a neat ponytail leaving my side fringe down. Searching through the clothes I pulled out a shirt to see what was on the front and froze. This shirt looked really familiar it was black and had the words "I don't run. And if you ever see me running, you should run too because something is probably chasing me," in bold red letters. The shirt even had the same almost invisible burn mark on the underside of the sleeve from when I accidentally set it on fire….
'Where did that come from? I definitely didn't pack it,' Kirsten stated looking over and seeing me holding up the shirt.
'You didn't? Then how did it get in your suit case?' I answered placing it to one side. I rummaged around in the case again and noticed more of my clothes such as my jeans and some of the clothes I have seen Becca wearing. 'If you didn't bring them, then where did they come from?'
'Don't know,' she replied 'What is going on? So many weird things have been happening, first the fact that we are here in the first place, then meeting at Tortuga and now the clothes.' Kirsten added standing up. She walked over and leant a hand against the wall of the ship. 'Do you think there might be something bigger going on, like there might actually be a reason for us being here?' she asked looking worried.
I didn't answer.
~Rebecca~
'Time to go Poppet,' Pintel said to Elizabeth and I as Barbossa placed the medallion round Elizabeth's neck.
They pushed us into the boats and started rowing towards the mouth of the cave. For a split second I considered jumping out, but thought better of it. I wouldn't be able to swim in these handcuffs and the dress would weigh me down and even if I could swim the men would be able to catch me before I could get anywhere.
~Kirsten~
After a few minutes of just standing there I walked over to the case and Vicky, who was still sitting there mulling over what I had said fiddling with the hem of her dress.
'We should get changed,' I suggested, picking up one of my shirts and jeans.
When I had finished I started walking towards the door saying 'I'm going on deck,' but was stopped by Vicky grabbing my arm.
'I want to go too,' she whispered looking at the ground. She looked scared as if something is stopping her from leaving the quarters.
'You don't have to force yourself, I can stay if you want me to,' I replied slightly confused.
'No, I want to try,' she replied. Her face became a slide show of emotions, a mixture of worry and fear then finally settling on determination.
I just nodded and walked out first, I don't know why she's scared but I know she is and must have a good reason to be. Once ages ago when I had only first been introduced, our group went on an outing to the beach, Vicky and Dana held back when asked why they just responded with Vicky was afraid of the water. I overheard them say something about a brother, but I didn't want to pry. I was new to the group and didn't want to step over the line and by the look on Vicky's face it wasn't something she was going to share with someone she didn't trust.
Once outside the door I lead her over to Jack who welcomed us with a warm smile.
'You look lovely love!' he exclaimed letting Vicky grab hold of his arm.
She blushed and muttered a thankyou looking shy; a brief flicker of fear crossed her face as she accidentally looked at the rolling waves, but that soon left as Jack distracted her with some comment or another. I smiled at the two and walked back down the stairs, finding Will, Mr. Gibbs and the rest of the crew looking out of the side of the ship into the water. I walked up to Will and looked over the edge. The sea was full of wrecked ships as far as the eye can see.
'Puts a chill in the bones how many honest sailors have been claimed by this passage,' Gibbs stated, breaking the silence.
Will glanced to Jack, looking back to Gibbs he asked 'How is that Jack came by that compass?'
Gibbs turned towards Will replying 'Not a lot known about Jack Sparrow before he turned up in Tortuga with a mind to go after the treasure of the Isla De Muerta, that was before I met him, back when he was Captain of the Black Pearl.'
'What? He failed to mention that,' I answered, butting into the conversation. They both looked at me, I don't think they noticed I was there.
Gibbs turned back towards the sea saying 'Well he plays things closer to the vest now, and a hard learned lesson it was, see three days out on the venture the first mate comes to him and says everything's an equal share, that should mean the location of the treasure too, so Jack gives up the bearings, that night there was a mutiny, they marooned Jack on an island and left him to die, but not before he'd gone mad with the heat.'
'Ah so that's the reason for all of the…' Will replied trying to impersonate Jack.
'Reason's got nothing do with it, now Will, Miss Kirsten, when a man is marooned he is given a pistol with a single shot, one shot, well it won't do much good hunting or to be rescued, but of three weeks of a starvin' belly and thirst, that pistol will start to look real friendly, but Jack, he escaped the island and he still has that one shot, oh, but he wont use it though, save for one man, his mutinous first mate.' Gibbs added then paused.
'Barbosa,' I finished.
'Aye,' Gibbs replied.
After a few minutes of Will started to look puzzled, then asked as an after thought 'How did Jack get off the island?'
Gibbs smiled then replied 'Well I'll tell ye, he waded into the shallows and there he waited three days and three nights, till all manor of sea creatures came and acclimated to his presence, and on the fourth morning, he roped himself a couple of sea turtles, lashed 'em together and made a raft.'
'He roped a couple of sea turtles?' Will asked incredulously.
'Aye sea turtles,' Gibbs answered.
After a few more minutes of silence Will also asked 'What did he use for rope?'
'Human hair…from my back,' Jack answered walking up with Vicky still holding onto his arm.
'Ewww,' Vic and I said at the same time. She let go of his arm and we started to giggle, knowing for a fact that the tale was false.
'Let go of the anchor,' Jack yelled to the crew.
'Let go of the anchor sir!' the crew chorused back.
'Young Mr. Turner and I are to go ashore,' Jack added
Jack was about to walk away but Vicky grabbed the back of his shirt and declared in her determined voice 'I'm going with you!'
I stepped forward and said 'I'm going too.'
Jack turned his head towards us nodded and walked away.
