Wow an actual update. That's rare...in all seriousness sorry for taking so long with this chapter but I kinda lost my drive and got stuck on what to do so I apologize to anyone who's looked at this story and wondered what took so long
And sorry if this chapter isn't all that good...I meant to have someone go over it and proofread it but anyone who could was too busy...
Anyway let's get on with our next chapter.
Ash, Ruby and Sapphire were outside the town waiting for Gold to get back with their food.
While they were waiting the three were checking the map
"Well Ash the closest gym appears to in Delarose City so maybe we should head there."suggested Ruby.
"Actually Ruby it looks like the closest one is-"Began Sapphire
"NO! We don't do that one!"said Ruby
"Why?"asked Ash.
"Because..."Ruby paused as he tried to think of an answer.
"Back! Said Gold as he brought in his haul
"...Tauros Jerky?"asked Ash
"What's wrong with Tauros Jerky?"asked Sapphire who was digging in
"I HAVE 30 TAUROS!"said Ash.

While Ruby Gold and Sapphire were cleaning up the campsite after Lunch Ash had decided to look for any interesting POkemon to catch as he knew he'd need as many Pokemon as it took to beat the Xeno League. "I won't fail this time. I'm going all the way no losing this time even if there's a legendary Pokemon"Ash thought to himself as his defeats in all the previous leagues flashed before him.
Soon Ash saw a Pikachu in front of him "Hey maybe he's your cousin."joked Ash to his "Pika" said Ash's Pikachu. Then the Pikachu in front of them zapped Ash "GAAAAHHHHHH"screamed Ash "What was that for!?"
"What are you up to now PIka?!"said a voice running up revealing itself to be a boy about Ash's age.
The Pikachu that zapped Ash gave a mischievous grin
"I told you not to zap people randomly!"said the boy.
"That's your pikachu?"asked Ash
"Yeah but I just got him a few days ago when he was stealing some food from people so he isn't really trained yet."said the Boy. Pika just sneered.
"So your a trainer to?"asked Ash
"Yep names Red."
"I'm Ash from Pallet town and I'm on a mission to beat the Xeno leauge"said Ash giving his usal intorduction
"Hmm. Well that proves an intresting problem."said Red
"What's that?"said Ash although he suspected the answer
"I'm gonna beat the Xeno leauge."said Red
"Well I've actually competed in leauges before!"said Ash "So I've got experience!"
"Well did you win any of them?"asked Red
"...Well...One...but that was a minor league so..."
"HAH!."said Red
"THIS TIMES GONNA BE DIFFERENT!"Ash insisted half to himself.
"Prove it!"said Red
Soon Ash and Red were set up to have a two on two battle in the woods.
"Alright Misdreavus I choose you!"said Ash
"Go Poli!"said Red
"Poliwhirl!" "Misdreavus"
"All right Poli use Water gun!"said Red
"Try a Hex!"said Ash
Soon the battle was on between Misdreavus and Poli. Misdreavus was able to evade most of Poli's attacks thanks to it's ghost like nature but Poli being the evolved and more experience in battle was taking most of Misdreavus' attacks. Ash tried playing defense by trying to whittle down Poli with attacks hoping it would pay off but clearly Red had experience with this Poliwhirl. Eventually Poli started looking tired and Ash seeing this began to get cocky and began to tell Misdreavus to let on a full on offense unfortunately this was the opening Red was waiting for and he had Poli use Ice Beam on Misdreavus knocking her out. Ash felt a pang of guilt it was his first battle with Misdreavus and he failed.
"Okay Misdreavus return!"said Ash "Pikachu you're up!"
Pikachu was easily able to beat Poliwhirl because of the type advantage and the fact Poliwhirl was already tired helped a lot. Red sent out Bulbasaur and Ash expected this to be a piece of cake but Red was ready. Bulbasaur used vine whip and Pikachu blocked it with Iron Tail then Pikachu tried a Thunderbolt but Bulbasaur's resistance to electric type attacks made it hard to make a dent. Ash tried to use the whittle it down tactic again but this time tried to keep up with his defense learning his mistake the first time. But Pikachu isn't really the most defensive Pokemon and Pikachu was taking some hits. Soon it came down to the wire Ash sent out a Thunder and Red called for a Solar beam and when the dust settled both Pokemon were out.
"...I...I lost."said Ash in disbelief.
"Hey it was a tie don't feel bad."insisted Red
"...Sorry it's just..."
"Still a bit sore from your last loss against a trainer?"asked Red
"Pikachu is unable to battle Cameron wins!"echoed in Ash's head.
"A bit."
"Hey there's always next time...but don't think I'm gonna go easy!"said Red
"Wouldn't count on it!"said Ash with his signature smile.
After Red and Ash parted ways Ash met back up with his friends
"There you are. What took you so long?"asked Sapphire
"Met a guy called Red and had a short battle with him explained Ash"
"Oh yeah I know him. He's from my hometown. Did he use his Poliwhilr?"asked Gold
"Yeah and he also had..."Ash began to drone off and tell his story when Ruby began to get a bit agiated "Hey guys could we move?"he asked
"WHy the rush?"asked Ash
"uh...no reason...I just want to get going."said Ruby.
Ash and Gold went with it but Sapphire began to think Ruby was hiding something.
Back at Rubys house
"HE'S GONE!? But we just moved here!"said a man
"I'm sorry honey but I don't know what got into him!"said Rubys mom
"Oh I know what got into him! And I'm gonna find him and give him a piece of my mind!"said the man.
Anyway who is familiar with Ruby's story in the manga will know exactly what's going on in the last scene
