Moving in was far from anti-climactic. Tony himself went to pick up Bruce and Petra up himself. The two were ready to see him, but the meeting was still awkward. "Hello, I'm here to pick you up" Tony said, keeping the interdiction as little odd as possible. It still felt weird.
"Thanks for not making us walk" Bruce replied. Taking a cue from the other two, Petra didn't mention their last encounter. Unfortunately, she couldn't think of anything else to say, so she just nodded in agreement and climbed into the car beside Bruce. No one was very satisfied by that, so a small contest seemed to start up to see who could first include Petra in the conversation. This wasn't easy, what with Petra not being able to ignore a problem with the same ease as a boy. A conversation about car types failed when Bruce wasn't up to date on the subject. A conversation about the traffic was a little more successful, but was very stunted. There isn't much that you can say about traffic after talking about how much you dislike it.
"So, I heard that you sat your finals yesterday" Tony tried a more relatable subject.
"Yeah, they weren't nearly as hard as everyone made them out to be" Petra said, fairly sure in them. "I get the results next week, but I am fairly sure that I aced them"
"Even without the last week of school?" Bruce asked, worried that his presence was upsetting Petra's life.
"I was confident that I could take them and pass a month ago" Petra boasted.
"Ha, Starks don't fall behind so easily" Tony commented, fully agreeing in the superiority of Starks over schoolwork. "If anything, I'm surprised that she didn't skip any grades"
"It's kind of hard to skip out of a boring grade if your guardians think that the social interactions would be good for you" Petra justified. "I was glad for the opportunity to skip that drama, no matter the circumstances!"
"See Bruce, you didn't even have a chance to stunt her brilliance!" Tony joked, seeing his science friend's discomfort.
"Ha, what gave you that impression?" Petra joined in, "My hero, rescuing me from the tower of boring assignments"
"Very funny" Bruce deadpanned at their jokes.
"Yes, I am a gold star comedian" Petra agreed. "Unfortunately for you, a majored in chemistry instead, so you don't have a chance to waste your money on jokes"
"Of course, I would do so given a chance, miss comedy queen" Bruce bantered, "Would that I had the money to bury those jokes in"
"Yes, I shall still manage to blow an escape through whatever applause I get buried in, so I shall survive all of my fans unscathed" Petra continued.
"Your jokes shall fill the world and none can stop them" Bruce continued
"Wait, you already have in-jokes?" Tony interrupted.
"Yes, we made our whole debate forum to when you weren't looking" Petra commented, in so flat of a voice that Tony wasn't sure whether she was joking or not.
"It just, a relationship forming so quickly is very rare" Tony said.
"Wow Bruce, our relationship has already been complemented by at least six people already! We must really be doing something right!" Petra said.
"Ok, that level of familiarity already? That is starting to get weird" Upon seeing both of their glares, Tony quickly backtracked, "but that's coming from the king of one-night stands, so don't read too much into it"
"Good to know that we aren't being questioned, right Bruce" Petra said, with a sharp smile.
"The Hulk agrees, says that he already made his opinion of it ending clear" Bruce said in a nervous tone, "I wouldn't want to push him on that"
"Of course, I won't" Petra soothed. "And as everyone here knows that there shouldn't be any reason for a problem, right Tony" Petra asked in a sharp tone.
"Ok, now I'm starting to see the Stark attitude in you" Tony said, unhappy at the noted resemblance, but unwilling to push. "Yes, no one here is going to be stupid and have another problem" He agreed, noting the severity of the damage that going agenst it would cause.
"Good" Bruce said. This agreeing with the Hulk thing would certainly take some getting used to…
"Oh look, were almost here, Bruce" Petra once again interrupted Bruce's spiral. "Question, when did you finish the building, Tony?"
"A week before the invasion, actually" Tony admitted. "But if your talking about the building's ark reactor, it was finished the night before exactly"
"Neat. How many renovations has it needed so far, what with the superheroes living in it?" Petra continued.
"Superheroes?" Tony asked, amused. "We three are the only Avengers going to be living in it, assuming that your… transfer makes you one Petra"
"It does" Bruce interjected.
"Well, in that case, all three of us our going to be living there as avengers. Steve actually has his own place" Tony said, but quickly continued at the look of pain the other occupants of the car shared at his mention. "Clint and Natisha both have their own place working for Shield, and Thor just doesn't live on earth and isn't officially part of the Avengers in the same way that you weren't, until last week. Still, there a few guest bedrooms that they can barrow if they chose to visit, and there has been talk of starting a movie night. As for your question, if you count the one time that a few traps were set of by you during your visitation phase, this makes three renovations so far" Tony said, looking Petra in the eye.
"What, really? No, I didn't! Did I?" Petra worried.
"You didn't realize? The first night that you came in, a glob of webbing gummed up a camera!"
"That wasn't me" Petra insisted.
"Yeah, I did that" Bruce admitted.
"I decided to let him look at the web shooter technology, sense he was suitably flattering" Petra added.
"What do you mean flattering?" Bruce asked "I saw the interesting gadget and grabbed your hand to look at it"
"You don't realize? It had been years, literally years since anyone had poured over anything that I made with even half as much interest, regardless of your manners at the time. I was thrilled to have that sort of attention again"
"And yet you blush any time someone stares at you to long" Bruce commented
"Just because I like it doesn't mean that I'm used to it" Petra replied.
