Annabeth's POV:

"Hey, there," Percy said as he came into class and sat down next to me. I took his hand and smiled, though it was probably best not to start making out when Ms. Fitch was in the room. It was Monday morning and after spending most of the weekend hanging out, there was no more awkwardness between me and Percy.

"What's going on here?" I looked up to see Matt approaching the table. He sat down across from me and smirked, which made my stomach turn. No matter how much time passed, and even now that I was back with Percy, I still got nervous around him and hated that we had to work together. Luckily, though, the project would be over on Wednesday and he would be back in his own class, meaning I only would see him in the hallways or at lunch.

"Jealous?" Percy asked. I wished he would have just left Matt alone, but he hated the guy almost as much as I did for tricking me into dating him only to dump me after he slept with me. At least, that's what Percy thought had happened.

"Not really," Matt said. "I'm not the dating type. I'm more of a hit 'em, dump 'em type, but you already know that, Annabeth." He looked at me suggestively and I just ignored him, but Percy stood up. God, this was not good. I grabbed his arm and sat him back down, though he was glaring at Matt angrily.

"Do you want to go to the movies tonight?" I asked him, trying to get him to think about something else. "They have a discount tonight, and we can see that new comedy you've been wanting to see."

"That sounds good," he said. We talked about details for a few minutes before class started and, to my relief, he seemed to forget about Matt for the time being.

"That movie looks really good," Percy said through a mouthful of popcorn as the trailer for a new action movie ended.

"Slow down there, Seaweed Brain," I told him. "The movie hasn't even started yet and the popcorn is almost halfway gone!" He peeked into the container and smiled sheepishly.

"Oops, sorry. Here, you can hold it so I won't eat as much." He handed me the large popcorn container and I held it on my lap. Another movie trailer came on and Percy's eyes were glued to the screen, although I wasn't sure why; it looked like a pretty stupid movie. I took a sip of my soda just as a guy in a large hoodie bumped into my arm, spilling the drink all over my lap. I cursed and stood up, but the damage had already been done.

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry!" the guy said. I looked up at him and recognized him as someone from school, though I'd never spoken to him before and I wasn't even sure what his name was. His hands were full with different assortments of candies and snacks, which explained why he bumped into me; he was probably too busy trying to keep everything in his arms to notice his surroundings.

"It's okay," I said, examining my soaked clothes.

"Oh, crap," Percy stood up, seeming to notice a few seconds later what had happened. "Do you want me to take you home for a change of clothes?"

"No, it's fine," I told him. The movie was about to start and I knew he'd been dying to see it for a while now. I couldn't ask him to leave for something as stupid as a change of clothes. "I'll just go to the bathroom and clean up."

"I can buy you a new drink," the guy from school said apologetically. "Just let me set these snacks down with my girlfriend real quick and I'll go with you." He slid past me before I could answer and I looked down at my shirt again. It was one of my favorite tops and I was really disappointed that it was now soaked with Dr. Pepper. Hopefully, it would come out in the wash.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Percy asked again. "I can take you home, if you want. We'll only miss the first few minutes."

"It's fine," I reassured him as the guy came back, his hands empty this time. "I'll be back in a few minutes." Percy sat back down and I followed the guy in the hoodie out of the theater.

"I'm really sorry about that," he told me again.

"It's not a big deal."

"Hey, you look familiar." He looked at me with his eyebrows scrunched together as he tried to think of where we'd seen each other. "Do you go to Goode?"

"Yeah, I do actually."

"Oh, wow! What grade are you in?"

"I'm a senior."

"Same," he said, leading me around a corner. I hesitated for a moment, realizing we were in the wrong area of the theater, but continued following him.

"Hey, I think the concessions area is the other way," I told him.

"No, it's fine, this hallway loops back around." He smiled at me and I followed, though more slowly this time. I'd been to this theater hundreds of times and I'd never seen a hallway that looped back around to the front of the building. I didn't see anyone around and a shiver went down my spine, though I wasn't sure if it was because of my wet clothes or the bad feeling I had.

"Hey, it's fine," I told him. "I don't really need another drink."

"C'mon, Annabeth, I just want to get you a drink." He smiled at me and I took a step back. I never told him my name. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I knew I needed to get away as fast as possible. I started to turn around, but he grabbed my wrist and I suddenly remembered why I recognized him: he was one of Matt's friends.

"Let go of me!" I screamed, using the techniques Josh had taught me to break free from his grasp. Before I had a chance to run, a hand covered my mouth from behind and another wrapped around my waist. I struggled to get out of my attacker's grasp, but he was too strong. I was pulled into a small dark room and he let go as soon as the door was shut. The only light came from a small window on the door, but I could see Matt towering over me.

"Let go of me, Matt!" I yelled. He took a step back, but he was still only a few inches away. I glanced around the room and realized it was a tiny janitor's closet. Oh, God, what was he going to do to me? How could I have been so stupid? I fell right into their trap.

"What the hell have you been telling people?" he demanded. Some of his spit flew into my face and I raised my right hand to wipe it off, but he grabbed my wrist before it reached my face. His grip was strong and I felt my stomach drop. There was no way I could escape from him; I'd only taken two self defense classes as of yet and maybe I could have fended off an old man trying to steal my purse, but not a football player and his friend, who was probably still standing outside the door.

"What are you talking about?" I tried to keep my voice level so he wouldn't know how scared I was, but I couldn't stop my voice from shaking. I had an idea as I remembered my phone was in my back pocket. Percy was the last person I'd called, so maybe I could call him without Matt noticing.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" I slid my shaking left hand into my back pocket and tried to press the right keys, though it was difficult to do so without looking. "Your friend punched me because you told her I raped you? Is that what you've been telling people?" My throat closed up as he stared down at me and I wanted to yell at him for all he had done to me, but I wasn't exactly in a position to do so. I pressed what I hoped was the "dial" button on my phone and realized I had to keep him talking if I didn't want him to hear the dial tone.

"It's the truth," I told him.

"Are you serious?" He twisted my wrist, which was still in his grasp, until it felt like he was going to break it. "You're so stupid! You honestly are telling people that I forced myself on you?" I gave a feeble attempt at a nod as he twisted my wrist further, trying not to give him the satisfaction of making me scream.

"I can't believe you did that! If you didn't want to sleep with me, why the hell did you come with me to that party? You were practically begging to get laid!" Is that really what he thought? That I wanted to sleep with him, despite my screams and struggles? God, he was sick.

"How many people have you told this crap to?"

"Just Thalia," I reassured him. He needed to let go of my wrist!

"Don't you dare tell anyone else," he threatened, so close that I could feel his breath on my face. I had to hold him off for a few minutes before he did anything to me, so Percy would have enough time to find me.

"Or what?" I asked. "Are you going to rape me again?" Wrong choice of words. His free hand traveled down my body, stopping at the button on my jeans.

"Careful what you wish for, darling." He smirked as he undid the button and I struggled against him, but he pushed me against the wall, pinning my left hand behind my back. My right wrist was still in his other hand I didn't see any way of escaping anytime soon.

"I'll scream," I threatened. "Someone will hear me and you'll get caught." He laughed and I felt any confidence I'd had seeping out of me.

"Everyone around here is in a theater, watching a movie, as you saw for yourself only minutes ago. Do you really think someone will hear you? Even if they do, why would they come? They'll probably just assume it was from a movie. Now, stop distracting me."

"My boyfriend is here. He'll know something is wrong and come looking for me." I really hoped it was true. Matt shushed me and smirked, completely unfazed.

His fingers traced the line of my pants before fidgeting with my zipper and all I could do was just stand there, hoping Percy was looking for me. It took me a moment to realize I was completely terrified. It was going to happen again, and just like last time, I was utterly hopeless. I closed my eyes, hoping that everything would just go away and I would wake up, but this wasn't a nightmare, it was real life.

But then his hands let go of me and I opened my eyes, surprised at this sudden turn of events. He leaned in and I felt his breath on my ear, sending shivers down my back.

"Don't say anything to anyone else," he whispered. "Especially your boyfriend. Got it?" I nodded, hoping that he was really going to let me go. His hand trailed down my side once more before he stepped back.

"Get out of here before I change my mind." I would like to say I walked out of the janitor's closet with confidence, but I couldn't stop myself from running. I went straight to the restroom and threw up. Sitting in front of the toilet, I couldn't stop the sobs from coming, and I hated myself for it. I hated how weak and powerless Matt made me feel. I just wanted to live a normal life.

Part of me was mad at Percy for not saving me, but I knew it wasn't his fault. He had no idea what was going on. I pulled out my cell phone to see if I had succeeded in calling him, but the screen was off. To my surprise, he was in my recently called list, so I had dialed the right number. Did he answer? Had he heard anything?

I hurried to clean myself up and headed back to the theater a few minutes later. I was eager to find out whether or not Percy had answered my call, though I wasn't sure if I wanted him to have answered or not. If he knew the truth, maybe Matt would stop harassing me and I could go on with life as usual. Then again, Matt threatened me not to tell anyone about what he had done to me.

Once back in the theater, I took a seat next to Percy, who was once again stuffing his face with popcorn. The movie had already started and he turned to me when I sat down.

"Hey, you missed this really awesome part!" he whispered excitedly. I sighed in relief; he didn't know.

"Darn," I said quietly. "You'll have to tell me about it later."

"Where's your soda?" Crap, I forgot to get a new soda.

"Oh, they were out."

"They ran out of soda?" He raised his eyebrows questioningly and I realized my mistake too late.

"The Dr. Pepper was watery and I didn't really want anything else." He nodded and turned back to the movie. I was still a little jittery after what had happened, but I tried to relax and started watching the movie. After a few minutes, I felt something hit my shoulder and saw a piece of popcorn in my lap. I turned around to see where it had come from, only to see Matt and his friend sitting two rows behind me. They were both smiling and Matt gave me a small wave. I suddenly felt cold and leaned into Percy, who put his arm around me.

"Hey," he whispered in my ear. "I think your zipper is down." As if I needed another reminder that Matt was harassing me. I quickly zipped it up and looked up to make sure Percy didn't suspect anything, but he was focused on the movie. I stuffed some popcorn in my mouth and tried to watch the movie, though my thoughts were focused on the guy sitting two rows back.

I know, I know, Matt is sick. But don't worry, he'll get what he deserves soon enough.
