We arrived back at the hotel before the sun rose, I was glowing with happiness.

"Feeling better?" Sebastian asked with a smirk.

"Much." I said with a smile.

I was feeling so good that I even let Sebastian hold my hand as we walked up to our room.

"Where have you guys been?" Katherine asked curiously as soon as we stepped into our room. "Why are you covered in blood? Are you ok?"

I smiled and nodded.

"Yes mamacita, we are fine. Do not fret the blood isn't ours." Sebastian said waving off her concern.

"Then whose-"

"A certain blondes and a certain brunettes…it got a little messy but we're not complaining." I said cutting her off.

Katherine frowned and then her eyes widened as it came to her.

"You guys killed Elena and Caroline?" She said shock written all over her face.

"No." Sebastian and I replied quickly. "We just tortured them until dawn."

Kathrine's eyes widened ever more than humanly possible.

"And don't worry they won't remember a thing…" Sebastian said with a smile.

"Speak for yourself; I gave them both nightmares of their impending death." I said seriously.

"You guys did that for me?" She asked quietly.

"I did not turn you into a vampire for you to be turned right back into a mortal, and what's worse, I can't turn you again because you just might stay permanently dead. She couldn't get away with that. And I had to get Kol's revenge too of course, no one gets away with harming my baby brother and lives to tell the tale..."

"But why Caroline?" Katherine asked curiously.

I sighed. "She holds Nicklaus's heart you know, he fancies her, so I automatically hate her, she's also the doppelgänger bitch's friend, I said hey what the hell, why not?"

Katherine laughed and shook her head.

After everyone had gotten dressed and had eaten, we were back on the road. Sebastian didn't want me driving all day so he took over.

"So you are pretty sure that if I feed you my blood you won't change immortal again." I said thoughtfully.

"Yes, the blood I was given was supposed to be given to Silas..."

"To render him mortal." I sighed. "So now my next question is would magical immortality work?"

I could literally taste their confusion in the air.

Katherine, Circe, and Ariel looked at me with visible question marks in their eyes.

I sighed. "There is more than one way to achieve immortality. You can be born into it, or you can get it through magic. You can become a vampire, or you can literally just be immortal. It can even come as a form of a curse."

"I don't understand." Katherine said with a frown.

"What Dine is saying is that, the most common form or immortality is vampirism, but there is another way to achieve the same goal without becoming a vampire."

"But if I'm not a vampire what would I be?" She asked curiously.

"You would simply a human that just couldn't be killed." Sebastian said simply.

Rine frowned before turning up her nose. "But why would I want to stay human. They are so weak."

"Why would you want to be a vampire all over again?" I countered.

"Power isn't everything Rine." I added.

The rest of the ride to New Orleans was a silent one.

"I can't believe we're back…" Circe whispered as we pasted the welcome to New Orleans sign.

I smiled. "Yes, New Orleans, my home away from home."

Sebastian frowned. "When did you live in New Orleans?"

"When you obviously weren't by my side. I came here while whilst my siblings were running away from dear old dad. I helped a friend rebuild it, and gave him advice on ruling the new city. When I got bored with it I moved on." I said with a shrug.

"Him?" I rolled my eyes at Sebastian's response, was that all he heard?

I sighed "Aren't you a little too late to be trying to play jealous lover."

He continued to grumble as we drove on.

When we arrived at the manor I was in a better mood. I helped Rine out of the car and we all walked through the double doors.

It was quiet, too quiet.

I saw a blur on my left, then one to the right.

I narrowed my eyes; Sebastian growled and took a defensive step in front of me to shield the intruder.

A blur flashed by shoving Sebastian out of the way while the other blurred in front on me with a cheeky smile.

"Hi mommy."

My eyes widened. "Raynah?"

She smiled and nodded her head. "It seems our growth spurts came, whilst you were away."

I pouted and hugged my daughter she was a couple of inches taller than me and I was wearing heels while she was barefooted.

"Look at you, all grown up…well sort of; I honestly don't know if this is the last one." I said with a smile as I looked over her. Her face had lost the child chubbiness and more defined like my own, her body had grown; long shapely legs, a tiny waist and a heart stopping smile that matched yours truly.

Raynah nodded in understanding.

I pulled away from her and saw Royce; he had replaced Sebastian's defensive stance in front of me his eyes bright gold.

"Royce." I said softly and held out my arms.

He turned his attention away from a seething Sebastian who was currently crawling out of a wall, and towards me. He's curly hair fell into his eyes as he towered over me. My boy was so handsome, looking every bit like one of those men that would cover bachelor magazines. I mentally snarled at the thoughts of the tramps he would draw in. God help the lovers of my children, I wouldn't give them up easily.

"Mother…" He whispered before sinking into my arms.

I held him kissing his hair as he clung to me. I missed their growth spurt…I missed the time that they needed me the most, the time they were the most vulnerable.

"It's about time you two showed up. Honestly." Kol's voice said.

I watched as he walked over to Sebastian and slapped his back. "Hey mate; glad to see she didn't kill you."

"Definitely not because she didn't try." Sebastian laughed pulling my little brother into his embrace.

"Mommy." Raynah said with excitement glowing in her bright blue eyes.

"Yes darling?"

"Well, while we were waiting for you…we found out something marvelous is happening tomorrow night!"

"Oh. Do tell?"

"There's going to be a masquerade ball!" She squealed. "Can we go mommy please can we go?"

I looked over to Kol. She had to now be 17 or 18 in human years and she still acted like a child. "What is this, she's going on about?"

Kol sighed. "Might want to take a seat love, this is a long story indeed."

I frowned as I took in his serious expression. I looked at the twins. "You two bed." I started walking outside smirking as I heard them whining about how they were older and shouldn't be treated like this blah blah blah.

And before long I was joined by Kol, Sebastian, Circe and Katherine and Ariel.

"Alright Kol, what's going on?"

"Nik is here… along with Elijah and Bekah."

"Nicklaus…" I said with my eyes narrowed. "is here…why? I mean it's obvious why Elijah is here, someone has to clean up after my twin, Bekah must have come because of Elijah; spirits know the girl hates being on her own for too long…" I sighed bringing my hand to my temple. "What has our brother down now?"

"Word on the street, a coven of witches wish to exterminate him." Kol said with a shrug.

I rolled my eyes. "Why?"

Kol raised an eyebrow. "He is Nik…"

"Well I know that, my question is why now? Why all of a sudden? No. I believe there is more to this. We will find out more tomorrow night at the ball. Anything else I should know?"

Kol pulled an envelope from his pocket with a frown. "Your little pet Marcellus has sent a letter to you along with your invitation but Raynah took that as soon as she saw it."

I nodded taking it from him. I looked to Rine and Ariel.

"I want you both to stay here at the manor and stay out of trouble. I don't want either of you attracting unwanted attention to yourselves, until I figure out what all is going on."

Jason came from the house standing by my side. I watched as he blatantly disregarded Sebastian's presence.

"Claudine I'm so glad you made it. everything is in order, I even prepared a guest bedroom for your…guest…" he said his eyes flashing towards Sebastian before returning to my own.

"Thank you Jason, now could you please escort Rine and Ariel to their rooms." He nodded as left with them.

Sebastian glared after Jason. "I hate him."

"You don't even know him." I said with a sigh.

"I don't have to know a person to hate them. Besides I don't like the way that little whelp was looking at you, your mine." He said still glaring after him, a low growl rumbling from his chest.

I rolled my eyes before looking to Circe who was watching us with amusement in her eyes. "I want you to train Ariel. She needs to learn how to protect herself, and quickly."

Circe nodded, before disappearing in black smoke.

That left Kol, Sebastian, and I.

"Alright my darlings, I'll call a tailor and seamstress so we may be fitted properly; we shall go to this ball." I said to Kol.
