I'm excited for this chapter. What about you, my little aliens?

JILYlover28: I'm happy you liked my last chapter! :-)

N (Guest): Good. You like the nickname!

Disclaimer: I'm not even 14. I wasn't even born when the idea was thought of.

Wow. McKinnon's hot just after she's booked a date and is casually flipping her hair over her shoulder, I thought. No no no! I couldn't think like that. I had to be restrained from her the day before. And besides, now we were the two people that hated each other the most. No one else in the school hated someone as much as we hated each other. It used to be Lily hating James. But they became friends. I had to uphold that reputation. Even though McKinnon was pretty hot, I didn't think about her that way. I decided to focus on my true love of the week- Emmeline France. At least I thought that was her name. Ravenclaw, rather good at dueling since she beat almost everyone when we practiced in Defense Against the Dark Arts (Remus ended up undefeated), and from the way she looked at me, thought I'm the greatest thing since the Nimbus 1000. Which the ever fabulous and rich Potters bought for me. Peter waited on me hand and foot for a week just to have a go on it. He did the same for James. Then again, if James needed someone to practice an Unforgivable Curse on, Peter would volunteer. He'd lick James' toes after Quidditch. Peter treated him like a god. I always thought it was strange.

" Hey, Emmeline," I said smoothly, sliding in at the Ravenclaw table next to a girl with long, black hair at dinner that night.

" It's Hestia. Emmeline is over there," she corrected, pointing to a girl with shoulder length brown hair. Oops.

" Mix you guys up all the time," I said nonchalantly. " Nice job dueling in D. A. D. A the other day," I complimented. She gave me a satisfied smirk.

" Thanks. Em's always bragging about how great she is at dueling. I kicked her butt."

" Well, you can tell Emmeline France-" I started.

" Vance!" interrupted Hestia irritably.

" You can tell Emmeline Vance that bragging never leads to good things," I said, putting my arm around her. She did a girly-giggle thing. I had her under my spell. I just loved muggle expressions!

" Tonight, you, me, the empty classroom in the fifth floor?" I asked, cutting right to the chase. She nodded, girlishly giggling the whole time. Done. We'd snog that night, I'd break her heart the next day, and then I'd move on to my true love of next week- the real Emmeline I walked back to the Gryffindor table

to join the other Marauders.

" First part of True Love of the Week- done," I said confidently.

" Ah. Who's heart are you breaking this week?" Remus asked, shaking his head. He'd never agreed with my True Love of the Week system.

" Hestia," I answered simply.

" Hestia Jones? I thought you said you chose Emmeline Vance," James said, confused.

" Her last name's Jones? You knew that Emmeline's last name was Vance? I thought it was France!" I exclaimed angrily. James laughed.

" It's funny when you embarrass yourself in front of girls, not knowing their names."

" Anyways, I went up to the girl who I was talking about, who I thought was Emmeline, and she told me her name was Hestia," I explained. Remus and James started laughing.

" Maybe you should try harder with girls," Peter said seriously. That made James and Remus laugh even harder.

" James, one of the new prefects needs help," Lily said, walking over to us. " Why are you laughing?"

" Sirius- France- week" James managed through his laughter. Lily looked confused.

" So, Sirius snogs a different girl every week. This week he chose Hestia Jones. But he thought she was Emmeline, so he embarrassed himself by calling her Emmeline. And then, he mentioned Emmeline, and then, Hestia had to correct him again because he got Emmeline's last name wrong," Remus explained through his laughter. Lily started laughing too, but soon became serious.

" C'mon James, someone needs our help,"

James nodded and hopped up from his seat and followed Lily out of the Great Hall. James had started telling us he didn't like Lily that way anymore, that he was fine with them just being friends- but we all new the truth. We could tell he still did.

It was Saturday. Detention day with McKinnon. I felt almost happy about it. I usually didn't mind detention, never loathed it, never looked forward to it. This time was different. I realized that I wanted McKinnon. She was different than other girls, feisty, stubborn, with a hint of bad girl with a trail of boys who would do anything to go out with her. She was like the girl version of me. I also realized I didn't want to do to her what I had done to countless other girls. I can't even remember all their names. I wanted a lasting relationship. The Marauders were shocked when I told them this.

" You? Sirius Black? Number One player at Hogwarts? Wants a lasting relationship?" Remus had said, shocked. James was taking a swig of pumpkin juice when I told them. He did a spit-take.

" You've finally grown up," Peter had said.

That night, we met in the library at eight o'clock. We had detention until eleven, and I could tell McKinnon wanted nothing more than for eleven to come quickly. McKinnon gave me the stink-eye before we exchanged any words.

" Let's get to work."

She headed to the shelves to find books on registered Animagi for our project. I stayed at the table, thinking she was going to grab a couple books for us and come back. But she didn't.

" Well?" she said expectantly. " Get off your lazy arse and help me!"

I let out a reluctant sigh and joined her. We searched for a while, taking notes on each registered Animagi in turn. Without. Saying. Anything.

" Wouldn't it be interesting to interview Professor McGonnagal about the Animagi process for the project?" McKinnon said finally, not taking her eyes off the book she was using for research and breaking the long awkward silence.

" Sure. If she agrees," I answered.

" Shall we head back to a table?" she suggested.

" Sure," I replied. We gathered all the books together and sat down at a table to pool the information we had found. Marlene seemed impressed with the things I already knew about Animagi. If only she knew.

" It's always interested me," I said.

" I'm glad now that you're my partner. I suck at Transfiguration," she told me, seeming embarrassed about this fact.

" Everyone has their weakness. For me, it's Care of Magical Creatures," I reassured her. She looked up at me.

" Really?"

" Really."

" Thanks,"

" Your welcome."

" You realize that's the longest conversation we've ever had without ticking each other of?" she said with a laugh. I thought about that for a moment.

" I guess you're right," I chuckled.

" Maybe I should tick you off then," she teased. We laughed and I glanced at the clock. Ten forty-five. Fifteen minutes. I brought my gaze back. Our eyes met. Her sharp blue eyes were more forgiving than the look they usually have around me. I actually didn't see them too often. She rolls them a lot around me. Her lips looked so soft and ready. Before she even could look away, I leaned in and pressed my lips up against hers. I could feel her relax. Until she realized what was going on. Her face was shocked, and she started pushing me, trying to get me off her.

" What are you doing? Get off me!" she yelled.

" Marlene..." I started.

" Don't you dare call me Marlene, Black!" she spat. Hot angry tears started coming down. " I hate you! How dare you kiss me! I don't waste my time with players. Every week, you snog a girl and break her heart the next day. And Hestia was sobbing at breakfast the other day because you started going out with her best friend! You don't care about girls! You don't care about our feelings! You just care about yourself and trying to seem cool! It's sickening- it sickens me- you sicken me!" she screamed. She cleared her throat. " It's eleven. We can leave," she said, in a flat voice. I could tell she was trying to hold back more angry tears as she rushed out of the library. 'She hates me. I sicken her' I thought. I gathered up all of our project things and headed back to the common room, dragging my feet miserably. That was the worst mistake of my life at that point. I was used to girls liking when I snog them. But McKinnon isn't like other girls. She was different. The Marauders were all in the common room. I didn't pay any attention as they called my name over and over again. I continued until I got to our dormitory. Flopping down on the bed, I stayed their, still. I, Sirius Black, was suffering from heartache.
