Sorry I haven't updated in 3 weeks real talk I've been sick 2 times and at school events and such. But with cheer practice- I made captain!- and school I barely have time to write but when I do I need inspiration. PLEASE SEND IDEAS YOU WOULD LIKE IN THE STORY.
MONTH 4: DAY 102 (14 WEEKS, 4 DAYS): March 18
Percy didn't want to go to the market in the first place. The idea of shopping without Annabeth was boring and the thought of shopping with her was even worst. She was so moody since yesterday; everything he did was cause for her output.
If he put a dish in the dishwasher- Percy, you could have just washed it by hand.
If he buys food- Percy, why do you need to waste money?
When he listened and eats what is in the fridge- That was my food! Great now I have to go waste money.
He tried to make her feel better, in his defense. He realized the hormones were doing this to her and she didn't like being bitchy anymore than he liked her being bitchy, but she was mothering his child and that simple fact was enough for him to tolerate it.
So here he was, holding ten recyclable bags with groceries and shuffling through the door, while Annabeth sat on the couch looking through a baby book. A pregnancy yoga baby book. Dear Zeus, he thought, if she makes him join in those partner classes he might purposely call a monster to let out frustration.
"No it's fine, I'll struggle while you sit. By all means tell me how comfortable you are." He dropped the loaf of bread while setting the bags down and walking over the lock their door.
"Percy, this bread is practically squished."
"Well looks like you should have helped. We're lucky if the eggs are sound."
"Percy-"
"I don't want to hear it. Just make your bagel and be thankful."
MONTH 4: DAY 105 (15 WEEKS, 0 DAYS): March 21
"Selena is a no. I don't want my kids jinx by a namesake that has a bad history for us."
"Selena has a different spelling, besides if Aphrodite knows we named a child after her own that could be a good blessing."
"No," she sighed and turned the page.
"Well I like it, I'm writing it down." Her eyebrow twitched as she flipped the page once more.
"Luke if it's a boy," she suggested.
"No way in hell. Hermes doesn't like you as it is, besides if Selena is jinxing anything Luke has to be full on cursing."
"Are you serious?" Her glare looked up to him, steely rage showing beneath her lashes and dark circles.
He hated that she was so moody all the time and that ever since their amazing night of barely sleeping she was pushing him away and barely talking with him. He tried but even when they went to sleep every time he wrapped his arms around her she would shift out of them claiming she was too hot or had a stomach ache. It hurt, to say the least. It really fucking hurt, and he was starting to get mad about it.
"You know I am. Annabeth I'm not naming my kid after him."
"Like Hades! I will name the child whatever I want! Luke is a perfectly fine name. He was a hero!"
"So was Silena!" He didn't want to fight but it was familiar to him. All those years of being kicked out of schools because of it and he held it back with counting and simply being quiet. But fighting with Annabeth? He couldn't hold that back. Not when she was holding her stomach with one hand and throwing a book with the other.
"It's different!"
"Why because you knew Luke when you were little? Because you liked him? They both made bad decisions but they made up for it! They fixed their mistakes but suddenly one is better than the other?"
"Of course! I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Luke," her eyes started to water.
"Then tell me that! You're excuse is that it's a jinx and I know that's bull."
"I can't even talk to you right now." She bent to grab the book and started mumbling. "I try and I try…"
MONTH 4: DAY 106 (15 WEEKS, 1 DAYS): March 22
"Morning," Percy looked up from his bagel. She had to be doing this on purpose because she looked beautiful today. Long pants, white shirt, gray vest, heels, and perfectly curled hair and makeup were standing right across from him in their kitchen.
"Morning," she glanced at him before making coco. Having to reduce on coffee intake replaced her choice drink for a more juvenile drink.
"You look amazing today," he got up to walk to her. Could he actually end the fighting with a come on? He was going to try at least. When his arm reached out to her she looked startled.
"Thank you," she turned away from him to put the milk back.
"When are you off?"
"Today?" She stayed on the other side of the kitchen, by the fridge.
"Duh." He rolled his eyes when her mouth flickered with what could have been a grin.
"Until 5, why?"
"I can make dinner. What do you want to eat?" That let her smile show, giving him some sign that he could actually make her happy still.
"Pasta, I want pasta tonight." He grinned back.
Why were they barely smiling at each other across a kitchen? How did it get like this?
"So tonight?"
"Tonight," she nodded. He stepped across the kitchen with his arms out to hug her. It had been days since they willingly hugged and the fact that he couldn't recall the last time he reminded her of his love was unacceptable. His mother raised him better, no matter how moody she was.
"I love you," he said simply and kissed her cheek. "Have a good day." Her eyes were watery again and she pulled him to her.
"I love you Percy. I'm sorry." Her sniffled broke his heart.
"We can talk tonight," he rubbed her hair and kissed her forehead. "Don't ruin your makeup, I like it today."
Her only response was a smile before she kissed his cheek and walked out the door with her coco and keys.
MONTH 4: DAY 109 (15 WEEKS, 4 DAYS): March 25
"My next appointment is next week," she said quietly. She looked up at the clean spare room they were standing in and shifting her eyes to meet his.
"I know. I won't be able to make it you know." His eyes scanned the room trying and failing to see it as a nursery, not that they were focusing on that too much right now.
"I know, but I'm only letting it go this time."
"Of course you are," he kissed her forehead.
Annabeth wasn't looking to be fussed after, maybe congratulated, but definitely not asked how she was feeling every fine minutes. He co-workers were happy to see her knocked up, oddly enough, but over cautious at how young the baby inside her was. And that made her uneasy for one, and for two, she was in her second trimester, the safe zone as far as she was concerned.
And to think it was all because she was asked out for drinks.
Celebrating the new partnership with a builder and designer of high rank went through the office and design floor with the speed of a teenage locker room.
"You sure? You always celebrate with us, you can bring Percy too."
"No I'm positive. Percy's the reason I can't drink actually," she joked. Should she tell them? These were her closest friends in the building: Teresa, Marc, and Coco, who was coincidentally in love with Chanel products.
"He won't let you?" Teresa, the biggest feminists Annabeth knew was stirring.
"No, he actually, uh, got me pregnant. I'm about 15 weeks along." That wasn't what they were expecting to hear because their jaws dropped.
"With a baby?" Marc questioned while looking to her covered stomach, which she now cradled.
"Stop it! Yes with a baby. It was a surprise, but we seem to have adjusted now. I just need to get accustomed to growing and having to take off work later on," she smiled.
"And giving birth to a little monster," Coco put bluntly. It was no secret that her son did a number on her two years ago. Her pregnancy was hell and even Annabeth felt bad to hear her referred to with pity over such a vomit filled time in her life.
"Or a little angel," Marc rolled his eyes. "Your kid is a monster, like mother like son."
These were her friends, Annabeth pondered. To sum it up she was friends with a hardcore feminist, a Chanel obsessed mother, and a clueless bachelor. Not that she minded, they were the best at what they did in her work. And that's why they made the most money each time a celebration rolled around- they had a part in making it a reality.
Well as mortals they were the best at what they did. She was as close as she could get with them and found them faltering in creativity because they hadn't had the same Olympic inspiration she had. They also didn't have Zeus as a reference for the application to the architecture firm like she had. But that was the life of mortals, she figured. And she found through them how happy she was to be a half-blood and go home to all the perks of having a half god husband reminding her just how she got pregnant in the first place.
MONTH 4: DAY 112 (16 WEEKS, 0 DAYS): March 28
"I'll give you your stupid five minute name time, go," Percy rolled his eyes. Annabeth insisted on dedicating 5 minutes at least each day to discussing names for the growing baby.
"Ryder?" The name sounded adventurous and eye catching to her.
"Maybe. Girl: Eudora." He was pretty happy about his name, with a deep meaning and everything.
"Eudora… good gift? I like it," she smiled and wrote it down. "How'd you come up with that?"
"Shh no need to question."
"Hmm.. I'm still fond of Alexander."
"And I'm not opposed to that. What about Neros? Nereus?" He tried keeping a straight face.
"I said no puns!" A pillow landed in his face while he laughed at her annoyed face.
"Fucking water in Greek. You ass!"
"Oh come on it was just a suggestion."
"I'm so done," she wrote the name down and crossed off others while Percy waited.
"I say we just have a bet," he started.
"Over our child? No way."
"Just over a name."
"Explain."
"I say we call the gender and whoever wins gets to pick a for sure name for Baby Jackson."
"So if I called a girl and it was a girl I get a name, no matter what you think?"
"Yes, but whether it is a first or last name is debatable." Percy could live with this, and Annabeth was too competitive to turn it down.
"And if we call the same gender?"
"Then we could be right or wrong and we will have a name either way."
"Do you know your gender?"
"'Course. Dow you know yours?"
"Of course."
"Okay then. I call a little boy," Percy smirked and held his hand out.
"A baby girl for this household."
Their hands shook and guaranteed a name, no matter how bad, for their child.
;;
Bam! Sorrrryyy for the wait but really I need ideas. And a middle name for a boy and girl.
- Bonus: If you follow my Tumblr (percysgreekfire) and message me about the story I may or may not tell you the gender early.
