A/N: Hey everyone! I'm super sorry for not updating for a month but summer and school have been taking up my time! But I believe it's a good moment to bring back Emily Jo and the others! Love you all and thanks for your support! :*
"I'm not letting you run again." And suddenly his lips were on mine, his hands holding my face.
Instinctively, my hands went to his hips pulling him closer. I didn't have the will to push him away. We stood like this for quite awhile until we needed air. But even then we were so close together, forehead to forehead, nose to nose, we were still connected. His green eyes were sparkling and though I couldn't it, his smile was huge. Tobias's hands dropped from my face to my hips and in some way, we moved closer together. We were one.
"I love you," he whispered, his breath dancing across my lips. This time I couldn't say no or run. I felt it come automatically. I had to say it.
"I love you too," I answered and somehow, his smile grew, "Tobias I'm sorry. When I tried to get you to hate me, I just wanted you to be safe."
"Love, it's okay. Like I said I couldn't hate you. I don't think it's possible." Tobias enveloped me in a hug.
"Why are we so drawn to each other?" I asked, resting my head against his chest.
"Who knows," Tobias kissed my head, "so what does this mean for us?" I sighed.
"I don't know. I just need you safe. So I don't think we should make it totally pronounced to Dr. Smith and the guards." I answered, rubbing my hands up and down his back. I could feel him nod.
"Tobias, Emily Jo! Lunch!" Dr. Smith's voice over an intercom.
When the hell did that get there? How'd they know I was hereā¦
"Okay," Tobias said to both the intercom and me. I tugged his hand and we headed for the stairs.
As we reached the dining room, Tobias tugged on my hand. Looked around and smiled at me. I rolled my eyes, kissed him quickly then walked into the room. Daire was sitting at the table, engrossed in some romance novel called From Ashes she had convinced Dr. Smith to buy her. I could hear the cook, Mrs. Brown finishing up creating our meal. Her cooking was good but nothing compared to my mum's.
"How's the book?" Tobias asked, sitting on the edge of the table. I leaned against the door frame. From this angle, Tobias's back was to me, so I took the opportunity to admire him. His hair was starting to get long, just about to his shoulders. It was a look that worked on him when he wore it right. I didn't mind but I don't want it any longer or it would cover his eyes, which I minded. He was wearing a form fitting green tee that showed off his bicep and back muscles. With slightly baggy jeans, a grey hoodie, and a pair of black shoes, that was the typical Tobias outfit. We were all trying to dress normal. Tobias in his half sporty half casual, Daire with her boho mixed with girly, Cato with his Abercrombie & Fitch vibes and me, with my blacks and edgy style. I take after my dad.
Suddenly, I heard my name spoken but it wasn't coming from this room. I glanced at my friends to see if they were paying attention to me but they were talking about the book. I quickly slipped out and headed down the hall towards Dr. Smith's office. As I approached the door, I heard my name again mixed in with the other three. It was Davidoff Jr speaking and I assumed he was speaking with the staff members because ever since our introduction this morning, I hadn't seen anyone but yesterday, I heard two of the maids talking about a staff meeting that would occur.
I decided to listen in, using my hearing so I didn't have to get too close to the door and potentially get caught.
"All four of them are dangerous in their own ways. They all know about their powers and they've all begun training. But the deadliest and most cunning is Emily Jo."
Should I take that as a compliment?
"You all generally know her story and who her parents are. Both of her parents are murders. Her mother killed my uncle."
Oh so he is the nephew..
"She doesn't trust any of us more than she has to, which includes for non-poisoned foods and not to send a bullet through any of their foreheads during the night. If she thought any of that, none of them would still be here."
Well at least he knows the truth.
"Her father is smarter than her. I hate that man with a passion but I will admit that he is highly intelligent, not just school smarts but street smarts. And I can bet all of your pay checks that he and all their rest of his family are planning how to find and take Emily Jo and probably the others."
This guy is smarter than I thought.
"So, I want to warn each of you do not trust Emily Jo. No matter how she treats you, don't trust her because she's her father's daughter and I am damn sure she is going to try and get out of here.
Well that just made things more complicatedā¦
