Hey guys! I'm out on a holiday in Singapore. I know I haven't been able to PM replies to your reviews but I pinky promise I've read every single one of them :D
Also the long bits of text in italics are flashbacks :D Enjoy
It had been two weeks. Two whole weeks since Sam had seen McNally's face. He sighed and looked around, bored.
He sat up, very alert as he heard the deadbolt being opened. The door swung open to reveal Jack standing there with a plateful of food, "Eat this now. You're incredibly valuable to our boss."
Sam pretended to look impressed, "Hey Jack I'm so proud of you! You learnt the word 'incredible ' today! That's amazing, man. Good work. Did you get that new word of the day toilet paper?"
Jack kept the plate in front of him, and Sam's lips turned up into a smile as he noticed that Jack's face was red, "Shut up. Eat. We ordered from the restaurant that girl mentioned;Nickel, or Penny, or whatever. Boss wants you alive."
Sam's eyebrows shot up, "Wow first 'incredibly' and now 'restaurant'? This really is some good toilet paper... So, your boss wants me alive? And he's being so very kind. But, if you don't have a problem, do you mind telling me who your boss is?"
Sam glanced up just in time to see a man enter the door and stand before him. Sam pulled on a bored expression, which wasn't hard, but tough to keep in place when he saw who it was, "Seriously?"
The man let out a cruel laugh, " Yup. Me. Sammy boy. The father of your niece or nephew to be. Funny how things work out, isn't it ? You and Andy are the only ones that know about me cheating on Sarah. Soon you'll sign over the deed to your property and money to me and Andy and I will run away somewhere, because we're so in love."
"Hey you got any gum?" asked Sam, pretending not to care.
Derek gritted his teeth, "No I don't have any gum. Anyways as I was saying Andy-"
"Don't bother with that crap. I already know she didn't know. Now, about the heat in this place, I was thinking you could install an air conditioner up here so that I'd be more comfortable..." said Sam, barely managing to conceal his smirk.
Derek closed his eyes as if trying to compose himself, "Sam, I'm going to ask you this once. Sign these papers so that you hand over all your belongings and money to me."
Sam grinned sarcastically, "Suuuuuuuuuuuure. And then after that we can ride my pink unicorn across the rainbow to find a pot of gold on the other side!"
Derek held up the will he had found, "See this? I'm going to replace this with a new copy that hands everything over to me. Then, after you die in a tragic accident, I'll have everything you own."
Sam faltered a little, seeing the will, but rolled his eyes, "Over. My. Dead. Body."
"That can be arranged."
Sam laughed a very fake laugh and lied, "Wow if you think that that's the only copy of my will to exist then you are truly mistaken. See I have this great little person called a lawyer who kind of likes to keep my legal documents and that kind of stuff with him as well. So if you kill me, you'll have absolutely no way of figuring out how to get my money."
"How about Sarah then? I'm sure killing her won't impact your lawyer in the slightest. Two birds with one stone; I won't have to deal with the kid either... Or Andy maybe?" Derek's voice was laced with malice.
Sam stood up and pinned him against the wall, "You son of a b! #$. I will personally chop you up into little pieces and throw you on the side of the road."
Jack reached over and ripped him off Derek in a second, and pointed the gun at him, causing Sam to cool down and step away.
"So Andy seems to get a special ruse out of you? How interesting," he mused out loud.
Sam clenched his jaw, "You so much as touch a hair on her head and you can say goodbye to your life. I don't care about whether or not I die, even if I just deliver one punch I swear to God I will gladly do so."
Derek smiled but Sam noted with satisfaction that his eyes had flashed with fear, "I'll see you again soon, brother-in-law."
Sam put an overly enthusiastic expression on his face, "Really ? Wow that's amazing! I really just can not wait."
Gail banged her head against her desk, "Ughhhhhh! Where have they taken him?"
Dov rolled his eyes, "Gail, if we knew that, we kinda wouldn't be sitting here right now..."
"If I knew what a dumbass you were, we wouldn't-" Gail began.
"Andy was held against her will, an officer of ours has been kidnapped, we have no clues about where he is, and all you two can do is argue about ridiculous things. So shut up and just do your jobs!" Chris interrupted.
Traci sighed and looked over the bank statements of Andy's brother-in-law, their prime suspect. They couldn't call him in for questioning, because Andy felt that he'd think they were after him. The only reason they had to hold him was that Andy was hit on the head while following him, which wasn't nearly a justified cause because she couldn't be sure of the fact that he was the one who had hit her.
She glanced over at where Andy was sitting, staring at nothing in particular.
Andy was exhausted. She wanted nothing more than to kick Derek where the sun doesn't shine and extract the information from him. She knew in her gut that it was him. It had to be.
Traci astride over to Sergeant Best's office and knocked, "Sir?"
Best glanced up from the stack of papers before him, "Nash? What can I help you with?"
"Sir, I'm worried about Andy. She hasn't done anything but stress over Sam ever since she found out he was missing. She isn't eating or sleeping properly. It's not healthy..."
Best sighed, "I can't say I blame her Nash... God knows what'd happen to me if I was in her position with Noelle, but you're right. Send her in here."
Traci snapped her fingers in front of Andy's face, causing her to startle, "Earth to Andy!"
Andy raised her eyebrows in question, "What? Have you found something? Is Sam okay?"
"What? No! I mean, I'm sure he's okay, but actually Best is calling you to his office," Traci explained.
Andy walked over to Best's office, "You called, Sir?"
"McNally I've been informed that Swarek disappearing is affecting you so much that you're not eating or sleeping properly," said the staff Sergeant.
"Sir I'm fine-"
"No," interrupted Best, "You're not. I already spoke to Epstein. He's dropping you to the aoff at the Penny on the way to his death notification across town. Go eat."
"But sir,… " Andy protested.
"I don't want to hear it. That's an order. Else If not, I'm taking you off the case."
"But Sir, that's not-" Andy began but stopped seeing Best's gaze. She decided to just agree and pretend to go to the bar. Maybe she could stuff some files in her purse and read up at home.
"Don't think about not going McNally. I'm going to send someone to check in on you in a bit. Look, how do you think Swarek will feel after we find him and he sees you like this? Take tomorrow off," Frank said, sternly.
Andy sighed, knowing that Sam would feel guilty beyond i magination, so she decided to not argue and instead went out to Dov. "Come on. I guess you're taking me to the Penny."
So there she was, alone, watching a drunk guy perform 'Selfie' at the karaoke for his girlfriend, who was furiously blushing. As much as it bothered her that she wasn't researching, she had to admit that she needed this at that moment; just to step away for a bit.
Jack and Dan entered the room and rapidly looked around the room, panicked at the absence of Sam, when they heard soft counting coming from behind the boxes, "One Hundred seven, one hundred eight, one hundred nine..."
The carefully walked around the boxes, only to find Sam counting the number of push ups he was doing. He had barely even broken into a sweat.
Jack put down the food they had ordered from that restaurant the girl had mentioned; Penny or something I front of Sam, "Heard you like this. Eat."
Sam stood up gave offered them a smirk, "Thanks. This'll probably be the last time you're bringing me food, though. "
"What?" asked Dan with narrowed eyes.
"See, as fucking brilliant as being held here against my will is, I'm not very happy with the hospitality offered to me. You guys didn't like my idea of installing the TV or the fridge or the 'remove the padlock from the door' suggestion. So I'm not planning on sticking around here much longer," Sam lightly said.
"Don't bother trying. The door is padlocked with the heaviest lock to exist and there's no other way out. That's why we don't bother locking you up," Dam explained smugly.
"That's cool. Tell you what, tomorrow, by say... sundown, I'm gonna leave, okay?" Sam smirked causing he two men to leave with angry red faces.
"What's the special of the night, Tom?" Andy asked.
'Grilled Chicken's great," Tom replied. "Since Sam's already ordered, I'm guessing you want yours with pepper?"
Andy paused, confused by what he meant by 'since Sam's already ordered chicken tonight,' when she remembered that Sam's disappearance hadn't been shared with the general public, so Tom didn't know Sam was missing.
Andy let out a full fledged laugh at Sam's sarcastic comments regarding her dancing abilities. She couldn't believe it; it had been probably the best date she had ever been on and it was while she was undercover as someone else and it wasn't just anybody else; it was the man who she had tackled and tried to kiss. No, she mentally corrected herself, he tried to kiss me.
The waitress, Jessica, approached Sam and bent down to pick up the pen she had 'dropped,' but Andy's smile grew when she saw that Sam didn't even spare her a glance.
"What can I get for you?" She asked.
" I'll have a steak, medium rare and ummmmmm Hot Chilli Tomato soup." Andy told her, pointing to the dish on the menu.
"And you?" Jessica asked moving closer to him, her eyes moving over his body.
"Grilled chicken, hold the pepper, and mashed potatoes" Sam replied, not noticing the waitress' obvious attempt at flirtation.
Andy was pleased to see Sam wasn't even fazed by the waitress, but furrowed her eyebrows with confusion, trying to figure out why he didn't like pepper when Sam answered, "I'm allergic."
It was about six in the morning when Andy finally got up from her bed and realised that she hadn't gotten a wink of sleep the whole night. Hearing Tom mention the fact that Sam had ordered just didn't settle with her. Something was odd. She contemplated this the entire morning and finally gave up on waiting further and grabbed her phone to call Tom.
"Tom? What did you mean by Sam's already ordered?" she asked.
"For the past two days I've been getting an order for take away of grilled chicken without pepper and the only person who asks for no pepper, at least that I know of, is Sam so I just assumed..." a sleepy sounding Tom answered.
Andy's heart began to race, "The man who ordered it, do you remember what he looked like?"
Tom stuttered, trying to remember, "Red hair, about 6 foot 4 inches or so… I think he had black eyes and that's all I remember."
"Come on Tom, is there anything else? " she pressed.
"Yeah he had a tattoo I think... Uh… a skull on his wrist. I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that's all I can remember. If I see him or a picture or something I'd definitely recognize him. What's wrong though? Has he done something?"
Andy wanted to thrust her arms around him, "You've been more help than you can imagine. I can't explain now, but thank you so much! Tom, do me a favour and don't tell anyone about this ? Oliver and I are working on figuring this out and we'd prefer it if you kept this to yourself..."
" Of course... Um sure, I guess so. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help," came the reply.
" Uh what? Um yeah sure bye Tom," mumbled Andy, her mind racing a million miles away.
She knew it was a long shot, but how many men in Toronto were 6ft 4 inches tall, had red hair, dark eyes and a skull tattoo on their wrist? Andy couldn't believe her luck, and even though she was having a hard time remembering where she had seen this man, she knew he was familiar. She called and explained to Oliver her conversation with Tom and how she felt she had seen the man somewhere.
"Yeah, we've seen him," Oliver stated. "Open up the video to the abduction bit."
Andy quickly switched on laptop and fast-forwarded the video to the part where Sam was being taken and suddenly froze the screen, gaping at the man who had drugged Sam, "There he is. The guy who took the food. Freeze the video on your laptop to four hours , seven minutes and nineteen seconds."
Andy could practically hear Oliver grinning on the other end of the phone, "The video isn't clear enough to run through facial rec, but once we show this to Tom, we should be able to get a sketch out of him."
Andy sighed with relief, already dialing the sketch artist, Drake's number and requesting that he go down to the Penny and take the sketch.
Andy was now waiting at the station, anxiously pacing about the floor. Like she's said before; she hates waiting.
When Andy saw the sketch, emailed to her by Drake, her heart began to beat faster than ever. She was almost positive that the man in the footage was the man Tom had described to them. When Drake ran it through the facial recognition software, they thankfully had found a match.
His name was Gastov Leary, and there was only one address listed under his name; twenty blocks from the station; a warehouse. Andy sat up, wanting to take Oliver along, but he was at the station in Best's office having a long discussion about the performance reviews submitted by him and Andy knew it would take him a while. Everyone else that she trusted were out on patrol.
After deciding that she was too impatient to wait, she grabbed a set of keys from the table and headed outside.
When Andy arrived on the scene she parked Oliver's cruiser far away and decided to walk the rest of the distance. As she approached the warehouse she saw a dozen or so men waiting outside beside some large bottles. The man who seemed to be the leader said something to them and led them all downstairs.
Andy moved closer to the house and almost tripped over the garden hose lying on the floor of the porch. She smelled something funny and looked down at the large bottles kept next to the door. She bent down and sniffed them. "Uh oh."
Sam had just begun his sit-ups, and had barely reached thirteen when he heard the door open. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to scare Dan and Jack, he skipped the counts and grunted, "Ninety seven, ninety eight, ninety nine, one hundred."
He stood up and saw that Dan and Jack did indeed look a little worried, but what made Sam anxious was the number of people around him. There were at least a dozen.
The man in front, someone Sam had never seen before, approached him, "Yew are being given vun last chance to sign these papers. They say yew hand ova everything to Mr. Johnson. Sign it."
Sam rolled his eyes, "I've told your boss this already; my lawyer had a copy of…"
The man chuckled, "Yes, Mr. Johnson mentioned zat too. We checked. Your lawyer died in a car accident a month ago. Ve even saw your request, which we know has not been completed yet, for another lawyer at his firm. So yew lied."
Sam bit his tongue, realizing that they had caught his lie. He racked his brain to think of something else, "My wife has a copy too."
The man chuckled, "You cannot lie to Gastov. Ve know how you got married a short while ago; I doubt you had enough time to deal with all of zis. Anyways, if you do not sign zis ve vill have no choice but to kill you."
Gastov handed him the pen, which Sam promptly used to doodle on the document given to him, and then snapped in half. As he watched the ink spread over his hands, he discreetly pressed his hands on the wall, causing his fingerprints to appear there. He thought to himself, "If I die, I may as we'll leave Oliver a clue about the fact that I was here. It'll make finding my body easier.
Gastov nodded to four of the men," You get ze cars ready. We are leaving ze second we kill him."
He looked at another two, "You two, go get ze bottlez of petrol." He then turned to Dan," Get ze lighter."
The three men returned, carrying the bottles and lighter respectively. They overturned the bottles all around the room and even threw some onto Sam.
Dread filled every pore of Sam's being as he realized that he was going to be burned alive; the most painful way to die and the most gruesome. He could only imagine Andy's expression when she found his charred body. Andy...
Sam thought back to all their time spent together, the meeting, the teaching, the dancing, dating, and even the marriage. People say that in the last few moments alive, your life flashes before your eyes, but all Sam could see was his incredibly beautiful wife.
Jack grabbed the lighter and they all stepped away from the room, which was going to go up in flames. Before Sam could move a muscle, he threw the lighter to the ground.
Andy saw four men leave the house and go towards the cars that were parked a little away from the house and followed them. She grabbed a large rock and whacked two of them in the back of the head, knocking them out. The other two turned around but before they could move Andy had delivered a roundhouse kick to both their heads causing them to fall to the ground, unconscious.
She then grinned at the garden hose that lay at her feet, happy with what she had accomplished.
As Sam stared at the ground, that had shockingly just not burst into flames he realized something; the room, supposedly doused in petrol smelt, nothing like it. He took a whiff of his shirt to confirm it and smirked, "Nicely done. You were going to set me on fire using water as a burning agent. Tut tut tut somebody skipped chemistry classes in school..."
Gastov turned to Dan, fuming, "Vat is ze meaning of zis? I told you to bring petrol you bafoon!"
Dan stuttered," I... Um... I had checked the bottles, Sir, I swear! Just before entering the house I swear it was petrol!"
"Yes of course and Jesus performed another miracle and turned petrol into vater is dat vat you are saying?"
"Well, I don't know Sir. I promise you I did not do it!" Dan protested.
Sam turned away from the men, unable to hide his grin. He was sure that Dan had brought petrol, but someone had switched it with water.
It was McNally. It had to be. She was the only one who could think of something so bizarre and get away with it. That meant she was here, nearby. Sam saw something barely move at the top of the stairs and saw Andy move downstairs, her gun held in front of her. At that moment, along with immense joy and relief, Sam felt another rush of pride. He had trained her well.
When she was close enough she yelled out with confidence, "Police! Put your hands behind your heads and get down on the ground or my partner and I will shoot. I repeat get down on the ground now."
Thankfully, none of them bothered to turn around and check if there really was a partner with Andy, which there wasn't, and they silently got down on the ground. She threw some rope at Sam and they both quickly made their way around the room, tying them up.
Having tied seven of them, Sam finished tying up the last guy when he heard a whimper from Andy. He glanced up and saw there was a hand covering her mouth and a knife at her throat.
Oliver exited Best's office and walked over to Andy's desk, only to find that she wasn't there. Seeing Dov he yelled out," Epstein! Where's McNally?"
Dov shrugged, "I just got back ten minutes ago. I'm sorry I haven't seen her."
Oliver went over to Stacy at reception, "Have you seen McNally recently?"
Stacy looked confused. "She took the keys for your cruiser and left twenty minutes ago."
Oliver groaned, McNally had left without me. He grabbed the reception phone and dialed Drake's number, "Hello? This is Oliver Shaw, Drake."
"Yes, Officer Shaw? I already texted Andy the address of the person whose sketch Tom helped make." answered Drake
"Text me the address you sent to McNally, RIGHT NOW. It's urgent," without bothering to hear a reply, Oliver slammed the receiver shut, and grabbed the keys for Sam's cruiser and ran outside, hoping he wasn't too late.
Sam didn't dare move. Of all the things they had been taught at the academy, one thing he clearly remembered was, 'If there is someone holding a knife at your throat, do not move. Do exactly what they say and do not startle them what so ever. No amount of skill in self defense can protect you from this situation; all you can do is talk them out of it.'
Derek, who had approached Andy from behind and grabbed her mouth smiled a sinister smile, "Sammy boy! There you are again... Now, I sent my men to kill you, so you can imagine my surprise when I fail to get a call from them about your death!"
"Look, Derek, you're making a huge mistake right now. Kidnapping and attempted murder of two police officers is way better than kidnapping and actual murder of two policemen. Just calm down and put the knife down," he said smoothly, "I'll sign whatever you want me to. My house, my property, my money I'll hand over everything, I promise. Just don't hurt her, please."
Andy's eyes were brimming with tears on seeing Sam like that, striking a deal with the devil. He was going to give up everything for her. Everything he had earned in his life, just like that.
"You'll give me everything of yours, Sammy?" He asked.
Sam managed to croak, "Whatever you want."
Derek leaned down and pressed his lips to a frozen Andy, "I want your wife."
Sam couldn't move. He just stared at the disgusting, cruel pathetic excuse of a man who stood in front of him.
Derek removed his hands from Andy's mouth, "Now that's better isn't it? Empty out the gun and put it on the floor. "
"Don't so it Sam," Andy whispered, "Shoot. Just shoot the damn gun. I'd rather be dead than leave this room with him. Shoot!"
A tear slipped out of Sam's eyes as he removed the bullets from the gun and set it down on the floor, "I'm sorry McNally, but I'd rather you stay alive. "
Derek began to pull Andy outside the room and up the stairs, the knife still at her throat.
The moment he was out of sight Sam grabbed the gun from off the floor, loaded the bullets back in, and headed upstairs just in time to see Andy being shoved into a trunk and Derek driving the car as fast as he could.
Now that Derek didn't have a knife to her throat, Sam was relieved he could actually do something. Feeling helpless, to Sam, was the worst feeling imaginable.
Sam sprinted over to four men who were lying unconscious near the cars. He had no idea why they were like that but he ignored that and grabbed a pair of keys from one of their hands, jumped into one of the cars and sped off.
Sam gunned the accelerator, racing ahead when suddenly saw a squirming body on the road up ahead, McNally.
He had no time to stop, so he veered the car to the right into a tree and prayed she was okay. He raced over to her, a little stiff from the air bags, and was relieved to see that she was unharmed. He undid the rope around her feet and hands and gently removed the duct tape around on her mouth," You okay?"
Andy widened her eyes, "Sam! Behind you!"
Sam turned around just in time to see Jack swinging at him with a baseball bat. He grabbed the bat from him and threw it into the bushes. He reached out and punched his face, repeatedly, remembering the time he had tried to advance onto Andy.
"Sammy boy? Turn around!" He heard Derek say. Sam had no idea where he had come from. The coward was probably hiding behind the trees.
Sam spun around just in time to see Derek thrust a knife into Andy's stomach.
Sam watched with horror as Andy stood still, unable to say anything and began to sway on the spot. Derek had stepped away from her, as Sam reached out to grab her. He lay her down and wrapped his arms around her," You're okay, I got you."
Derek had swiftly taken the gun from Sam while he was trying to catch Andy and had it trained directly at them, "Any last wishes? Anything you want me to tell my son to be?"
Sam growled and shielded Andy's body best as he could, "Yeah, tell your kid that his father is a colossal, cowardly ass-hat that really needs to use Mouth Wash more often."
Sam was incredibly proud of himself for managing such sass in the last moment of his life. But mostly, he was happy; happy that he would die with McNally in his arms, who looked as gorgeous as always.
Sam closed his eyes and heard the gun go off.
He felt... Nothing.
Great, his death had been quick and painless; he didn't believe in the after life, but he'd always thought that anywhere with Andy was heaven enough.
He looked up confused, and saw dark blood flowing through the hand that Derek was using to hold the gun. Derek had been shot?
He saw Oliver, standing there with his gun pointed at Derek, with a murderous expression on his face. Dov had just stepped out of the squad car and he, along with Traci, Gail and Chris began to round up Jack, Derek and the others to take them back to the station.
Sam couldn't help but grin at the brilliance of Oliver's timing and he turned down to share a knowing glance with Andy.
That's when he realized she wasn't breathing. He moved his hand up to her neck to check for a pulse, but found none.
Sam cringed as a particularly bad memory of him and Andy rose to his mind...
The scene began and Andy began to explain what was happening to a slightly confused Sam. He listened intently, once again, his cold indifferent mask towards her slipping. She explained what Jeremy, playing the role of the servant, was telling Jerry.
When she reached the part about Jerry dying, Sam was quite absorbed in the tale, "Then?" he whispered to her as she lay down, pretending to be dead.
"Then? Then, the most horrible moment of Romeo's life and the most amazing moment of your life will come," she whispered so only he could hear her.
"What?" Sam was perplexed.
"I'll die."
Sam moved his hands over her chest and began chest compressions. He paused, for a moment, titled her head back and blew air into her mouth. He repeated this process over and over again, until Oliver put a hand on his shoulder, "Brother..."
Sam shook his head, refusing to give up and continued. After ten minutes, he had tears in his eyes as he realized that it was all his fault. Andy was dead because of him.
He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. He had intended it to be a short kiss, but was shocked to find that she was responding eagerly. He snaked an arm around her waist to pull her closer but felt his arm go wet; it was covered in blood; she wasn't okay, alive, but nowhere close to okay.
He broke it off and saw that she was lying in his arms, barely breathing," Oliver! Ambulance ETA?"
"Ten minutes," came the reply.
"There isn't enough time. She's bleeding out. We'll take the cruiser."
Sam scooped her up into his arms and began to walk towards the cruiser. Andy let out. Weak giggle, "How very prince and princess-y of us."
Sam was relieved to see she was talking and still had her sense of humor intact, but was growing increasingly worried about the amount of blood that was drenching her shirt.
He gently lay her down in the cruiser and sat in that back with her head in his lap, "It's okay... I'm here. "
Andy's breathing was ragged, "Sam... Oh god, it hurts so much. "
Sam wiped the tears from her face, "I know it does McNally, I know..."
Oliver jumped into the driver's seat and started up the car, "The hospital's about a fifty minute ride from here so obviously I'll get us there in half an hour. Sam... You gotta keep talking to her. Keep her awake."
Sam grabbed Andy's hand, "Okay Andy, you know how what you hate about me the most is my lack of communication? "
Seeing Andy give him a slight nod, he continued, "Well, you're just in time for a Sam's Confessions session. Let's see… Um… I actually was jealous of you and Jeremy, I like pistachio ice cream, and my favourite song is 'The Way You look Tonight'."
Oliver grunted, "Great job Sammy. If she wasn't already asleep, now she probably is!"
Andy stared at him, "Really? This is how you plan to keep me awake? And wait pistachio? Seriously?"
Sam shrugged, "Hey it's great flavour, okay? Okay longer stories. Ummmmmm... Remember Moore?"
Sam had started flirting a little at work but it had only been two days since they'd officially started dating. Parade had just begun and Best was walking around, handing everyone a copy of the main suspect in a bomb attack they'd had downtown. Andy caught Sam's eye and gasped with shock when he winked at her from a across the room. Her face had turned scarlet and she hurriedly looked away from him seeing his trademark smirk.
Finally, Best read out the pairings for the day," Swarek- Epstein, Diaz- Noelle, Peck- Shaw... McNally- Moore."
Andy's head snapped up as she realized that she had been paired with the new Rookie; Duncan Moore. She quickly headed to the locker room to grab her stuff before she headed out to the cruiser to wait for him there.
Jason watched Andy go and whistled quietly, "Ooh damn she's fine."
Oliver overheard him," Oh yeah? Well if you don't back off I'll be forced to punch…" Oliver paused, not wanting to threaten to punch him himself. God knows someone else should be doing it. He tried to cover his threat up with a casual line, "Forced to punch out early to hear all about it. Tell you what? See that guy there? Yeah that one, you should talk to him about her. He's knows her well. He'll be able to let you know what kind of stuff she likes. Help you out and all."
Duncan grinned, "Oh, thanks! That's a cool idea, man!"
Duncan went up to the man who had been pointed out to him, "Hey man, wussup?"
Sam internally grimaced at his greeting and settled for a grunt in response, "What?"
"Hey man, you know McNally well? Shaw said you'd be able to help me out. You know, tell me how to put my moves on her?" Duncan prodded.
Sam glanced up and saw Oliver mouth 'You're Welcome Sammy' to him and grinned, "Ohhhhhh. You want ME to help YOU hit on McNally."
"Yes Sir, Officer… Swarek," said Duncan, reading his name-tag.
"You sure you wanna do that, new guy? I heard she's with someone… Sam something," said Sam, barely suppressing a smirk .
"So what man? They ain't married or nothin'. Plus, what this Sam guy doesn't know won't hurt him."
"Cool, just don't let him hear about you hitting on her cause if he does, then you're gonna end up with your face smashed into the sidewalk. Not that McNally will ever consider cheating..." Sam replied.
Andy walked over to them quickly kissed Sam, "Oh my god, Sam, is that my coffee? You are A LIFESAVER! Thank you!"
Sam handed her the coffee and answered while looking at Duncan, "Yes Ma'am, extra sugar no cream. Just the way you like it."
If Duncan hadn't been leaning against the wall, the poor kid probably would've collapsed onto the floor. He looked back and forth, between Andy and Swarek, whose first name he realized was Sam and turned red.
Andy held out her hand, "You must be the new Rookie. Hi I'm Andy, your TO for the day."
Duncan stared at her hand as if touching it would zap him with lightning and folded his hands before her, "Um Namaste. I'll see you in the cruiser."
Andy dropped her hand, confused and watched him leave, "Did I say something wrong?"
The corners of Sam's lips twitched with amusement, but he simply shrugged," No idea... All the best!"
Despite her weakness, Andy whacked Sam on the arm, "That was you? You're the reason he refused to go to any diner to eat lunch, EVER. He was afraid you'd smash his head into a sidewalk!"
Sam couldn't help but smile, "Oh come on, it was hilarious! "
Andy rolled her eyes and winced, "You owe that kid an apology."
"Hey Oliver, I never got to thank you for letting me be the one to tell him," said Sam.
Oliver chuckled," Anytime brother. How is she doing?"
Andy's breathing was more ragged and her eyes were beginning to close, "Sam it hurts too much! I can't..."
"There's a Valium injection in the medical kit under the seat. It'll help with her pain, I'm warning you though she may act a little... High." Oliver instructed.
Sam grabbed the needle and gently injected her with it, "Better?"
A few minutes later Sam felt Andy's tensed up body relax, "I'm gonna sleeeeeeep a little now."
Panicked, Sam racked his brain for something else to tell her, "Ummmmmm swimming pool."
"What about your... swimming poooooool?" She slurred.
"I think I can get a kiss tonight before you can," Oliver randomly declared.
Sam raised his eyebrows," Wanna bet? Two hundred?"
Oliver nodded," You're on! Sam I know you can be charming and all, but I've had a girlfriend for months and you don't even have a date tonight. So, my odds are way better."
Sam grinned, "I did it."
" Finally got a sex change operation? Good for you buddy," Oliver smirked.
"Ha, ha, ha. Hilarious Oli. I mean, I finally asked McNally out," Sam said sitting down near the pool.
The two had been standing near the pool of the party they had been invited to. They closed a very important case, and the department had been called to the mansion of the businessman involved and falsely framed.
"Really? That's great man! I'm sorry about this," With that Oliver shoved him into the pool, "I'm sorry buddy. But two hundred bucks is a lot of money. McNally isn't gonna wanna kiss you know and get drenched."
Sam fumed as he watched Oliver sit down on the chair and call Celery to meet him near the pool.
He spotted Andy walking a few metes from the pool with Traci and yelled out, "McNally! A little help?"
Andy spun around and spotted Sam in the pool and burst out laughing. She grinned and held out her hand to him," Wow, how did you..."
Sam grabbed her hand, "Don't ask," instead of pulling himself out, he pulled his hand downward and causing Andy to fall into the pool beside him.
"SAM!" She gasped, spluttering, completely shocked," Wha… how…"
Sam grabbed her around the waist and pulled her down into the water.
It was pretty much the coolest underwater kiss of all time.
When they both emerged from the water, Celery had just arrived near the pool and Sam grinned at Oliver, who was gaping at them.
Oliver groaned and steered the car to the left, "Oh don't remind me of that bet... Most embarrassing moment of my life! I had to skip the next poker night..."
Andy glared at Sam, but he was happy to note that it was a mock glare, "Seriously? One of the cuuuuuuuutest things you've done and it was- was- was… for a bet?"
Sam rolled his eyes," Oh god McNally don't call me cute for Christ's sake..."
Andy reached out and pinched his check, "SAMMY! You're so cute! And your face is soooooo pretty!"
Ten minutes later he could feel Andy's excitement over his 'totally adorable nose' dying down and he found her getting back to her old self.
"Can I tell you something?" She whispered as she was hoisted on to a gurney at the hospital.
Sam kissed her hand and walked besides her, while Oliver explained everything to the medics, "Anything Andy, I'm here to listen to whatever you want to say."
"You're a really great training officer. I learnt everything from you and I did pretty okay piecing together where you were... No? The moment I knew there was something wrong with you I started investigating, and my fears were confirmed when you called me to tell me you loved me. Could you have said a bigger lie or what?" She breathed.
A tear fell from Sam's eyes as he heard her say this, "Andy, I agree, you were brilliant at finding me, twice. But when I called you I meant what I said, I swear. I wasn't lying, I genuinely wanted to tell you that I love you."
She was wheeled away into the Operating Room, before she could tell him she loved him too.
Review? Pretty Please?
