The forest - Camelot
After successfully running, limping, bouncing, etc. the few hundred meters towards the forest, the group stopped to catch their breath, while the Doctor scanned the area with the sonic screwdriver.
They walked continuously, following the directions provided by the small device in the Time Lord's hand.
Walking…
Walking…
Dean was done with walking. "Do you actually know where you're going or are you just making us walk all day for fun?"
"Oh, well, both, I suppose."
"Both?"
"I do know where I'm going…somewhat. And walking's good exercise."
"Anything can be good exercise. Walking someone to death is murder."
"Ah, you'll be fine. Drink some water."
"There isn't any."
"…Right. Anyways, I'm sure we'll be there soon."
"You've been saying that for the past three hours and we're still not there."
The Doctor didn't answer, and instead focused on the readings on the screwdriver.
TARDIS detected
"Aha! There we go! One TARDIS, coming up!"
The Doctor started to run back the way they came from, earning an eye roll from Dean.
Within ten minutes, they arrived at the clearing, the blue machinery not far from the lake. By then, it was already long past sunset. Merlin had waited quite a while.
"I thought I told you to wait here at sunset…"
"Sorry, we made quite a lot of detours and such and didn't know where we were going, so…" Sam apologized to the sorcerer with a look of pure admiration.
"…Anyway, here's some bread I brought. Maybe you could camp out here for one night? I'll make an excuse to let you see Arthur…" Why am I letting them see Arthur?
"What? But-"
"Yeah, that'll be fine, thanks." Dean cut the Doctor short, ushering Merlin away with a smile.
"…Goodnight." Merlin headed back into the forest, head low with worry.
"Yeah."
It was silent for quite a while, save for the sound of Merlin's crushing footsteps slowly fading away.
"…Well, since we'll all be staying here for the night, let's enjoy the-"
"Let's get into your blue box," said Dean, cutting the Doctor off for perhaps the seventh time in two days.
"But the view's so nice…"
"Yeah, with a side of mosquitos and snakes. No thanks."
"The possibility of snakes in this area isn't all that high," Sherlock interrupted.
"I don't care. I want to sleep somewhere with a bed."
"How exactly do you know I have a bed in the TARDIS?"
"I don't. I just don't want to sleep outside in medieval England."
"It's Wales…" John interjected.
"Whatever! I don't care! Let me sleep somewhere I can actually fall asleep and not worry about dying in the middle of the night."
Dean reached the TARDIS, and pushed open her unlocked doors.
Out flew a blob of navy blue with the yell of being thrown out of a time machine, landing in the lake with an overly loud splash.
"…What…?"
The blue blob walked out of the lake, waving in the direction of the group. "Doctor!"
The Doctor squinted and yelled back, "Jack?"
"Doctor, it's me!"
"How'd you get into the TARDIS? I'm surprised it didn't leave by itself."
"Uh…"
Behind the group, the TARDIS began to dematerialize.
"No, no, no, no, NO!" The Doctor tried desperately to make the TARDIS stay put, but it vanished nonetheless.
The Time Lord turned on Jack. "JACK HARKNESS, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY TARDIS?" It was said with more vigor than needed, to be honest…
"I'm sorry, Doctor, I needed a ride somewhere and I hooked onto the TARDIS, but…"
"DID YOU FORGET WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME?"
"No, but…"
The Doctor sighed and walked towards the clearing. "Well, might as well deal with this arrangement, Dean Winchester. Jack, would you like to come with us to see King Arthur tomorrow?"
"It's Prince Arthur."
Said Sherlock.
Silence ensued.
"Ah, sure…"
"Oh, and we're in another universe, so… Hm. Don't break the rules."
"…Right."
"Well then, everyone find a comfy spot."
The group laid down in front of the lake, too tired to find out who the man named Jack was, listening to the break of the water against the shore, the wind whistling quietly, the trees billowing softly.
Jack laid down next to Castiel, looking at the stars swirling in sparkles.
He turned on his side.
"Hello, my name's Jack Hark-"
"No. Jack. No."
"Doctor, I'm just saying-"
"No."
"I can't say hello?"
"No. Don't talk to the angel."
"Angel, huh? Fits the image."
"Jack!"
HAHAHAHA I am so sorry. I haven't updated in a month. Ha. Forgive me. Or rather, don't. I am so sorry. This wasn't that good of a chapter either. I am sorry. Please give me ideas as to how to make up for my terrible deed. I am so sorry... (~m~)
