Sam was rifling through papers left in what presumably was the secretaries office, when he heard a yell and the sound of a window smashing. He straightened quickly, and looked at Ellen, who threw him a gun filled with rock salt. He slid out the room, and snuck to the reception where he waited in the centre, waiting. Another scream bounced around the walls. It was definitely a feminine voice, and it seemed to Sam to be recognisable, someone he'd met before. A snarl was heard, deep and throaty, that chilled Sam to his core. Ellen began to bar up the office, blocking it's entrance with chairs and tables. Although this would protect Ellen, Bobby and Gwen, it left Sam isolated from whatever was outside. Another window broke, followed by another loud scream.

"Hello?" Sam called. "Does anyone need help?" A voice that still managed to sound sarcastic, despite their obvious terror, yelled back.

"Well no shit sherlock, c'mon, what're you waiting for?" The sound of running footsteps continued towards Sam, as he shouted out his location. The footfall was fast, the runner clearly had speed, and although they sounded scared of the creature behind them, they didn't sound immensely surprised - thus Sam deduced that this girl knew of the Supernatural, but perhaps wasn't a hunter. Then suddenly, the footsteps were right around the corner - and a brunette girl was running towards him, hurtling into his outstretched arms: there to steady her. The girls chocolate brown eyes widened in shock. "Sam?" She said. Her surprise quickly turned to anger. "Well fuck, this makes things a bit more complex doesn't it!" She snarled. Sam was frozen in shock. No. No. No. This wasn't meant to happen - of all his previous love interests, it was meant to be Sarah, not Ruby. Ruby the demon. Ruby, the girl featured in both dreams and nightmares alike. Ruby. He didn't have much time to get over his shock however, for what had been chasing Ruby, quickly rounded the corner and -

"Shit." Sam swore. A rock salt bullet wouldn't be any use against a werewolf. Salt would, however, harm a demon. This idea came to him quickly - and Ruby saw it happen. "Sam," she said attempting to pacify him as he raised his gun at her. The three - monster, demon and human- circled each other, neither quite sure whom to attack first. "Sam, I know I'm not your favourite person right now, but can you wait till we both survive this werewolf before you execute me?" She seemed to be begging, slight tears forming in those large, beautiful eyes. Sam faltered - which was when the werewolf seized it's chance.

With a furious snarl and a huge leap, the wolf leapt at Sam, pinning him to the ground with claws embedded into his shoulders. Sam cried out in pain, splayed across the floor. Ruby instantly flung herself over the monster, desperately trying to pull the wolf off of Sam. Neither were armed properly. Sam's skin has being raked open, and it was taking everything that the two had the keep the creatures mouth from biting Sam. Ruby had her jacket around the wolfs neck, trying to choke it. A kick had her flying across the room, hitting the wall of the office with a sickening thud. The wolf attacking Sam looked vaguely familiar - she was clearly a girl, brown hair, almost attractive features if they weren't pulled into a grimacing scowl. He gripped her chin to find himself looking straight into her eyes. He stopped resisting her - it couldn't be...

"Madison?" He said, incredulously. The wolf girl stopped as well. For a moment, the wolfish features flickered to show a startlingly pretty young woman, whose features rose in shock.

"Sam." She said, shortly but with the slightest of tremors to her voice, "I was told you died." Sam blinked.

"Madison you...you were dead too." He said. She nodded, seemed almost to gulp and then said: "I'm sorry, Sam Winchester." She morphed back, wolfish once more, and rose to strike. Sam could do nothing, nothing but raise his arms. He was aware of Ruby crying out, of the weight of the wolf, of the pain in his body- and then the weight was gone and Madison - in wolf form - was speeding towards the open window. In seconds, she was gone.

"What luck." Sam murmured before slowly rising to his feet. He walked over to Ruby and helped her up, through her cussing and and complaining. He looked her over. She was bleeding, possibly broken at the impact at which she'd hit the wall. "What do I do with you?" He asked. The door to the office swung open. Both demon and hunter turned to find Ellen, hands on hips. She spoke with absolute certainty and control.

"Hand her over." Sam turned dumbly between Ruby and Ellen. The demon, and his friend, a hunter. Ruby looked down, away, assuming instantly that Sam was going to do as Ellen bid him. Ellen strode forwards. She gripped Ruby by the shoulders and looked at her. "So, you're Ruby. You made my little boy kick start the apocalypse huh?" Ruby raise an eyebrow.

"Ma'am - all due respect - I wasn't aware you Mothered Sam and Dean?" Ellen let out a bitter laugh.

"They weren't mine at birth but they are now. And now, bitch, so are you."

Minutes later, Ellen had Ruby strapped into a chair, centred in a devils trap. Salt and holy water had been used upon her, and while they caused her pain and anger, she wasn't bowing down to their interrogation. Ellen sighed. Sam stood, brow furrowed. "We can't leave her here. And we can't let her leave her vessel to tell the others. So..." Ruby raised her eyes to look at him, all seriousness except for a slight tint, sparkle in her eyes, daring him in how far to go. He hesitated for a moment. "And there's no point killing her because this...Carmel will just bring her back." An idea suddenly struck him, he took the demon knife from the floor, and gripped Ruby's wrist. There, he began to carve a devils trap. Ruby hissed at the pain, cried out at some points, but before too long, it was done. Ellen smiled slightly at Sam, impressed. She then leant forward, and somewhat gently bandaged Ruby's wound.

Ellen and Gwen discussed the options that they had at a table together, Bobby searched through piles of paperwork left in the office, and Sam sat disgruntled at Ruby's feet, looking up at her sullenly. Ruby was no longer tied down, but constantly guarded. She smiled at Sam. "Alright Sammy, let's hear it." Sam glared at her furiously.

"Only Dean calls me Sammy." He muttered reflexively. Ruby laughed. She asked Sam if they were still ridiculously codependent. Sam ignored her.

"Sam, I know you're angry I tricked you. I know. I helped you kick start the apocalypse. But I'm angry too. You didn't give me time to explain, you killed me. Fine," she said, cutting Sam's interruption off- "You held me down as your brother killed me." Sam sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. He wouldn't raise to this bait.

"Why are you here?" He asked. Ruby smiled.

According to Ruby, she was one of Carmel's most senior demons, working to guard the office. She and Madison got along well. Unusually well, for a demon and a monster, she said, as monsters are generally inferior to demons. They were friends, in a strange way, but Madison was devoted to Carmel, had faith in a way that Ruby couldn't fathom. Ruby disagreed with Carmel on too many grounds, and as the Winchesters and crew had attacked the office, Ruby had done nothing. Madison and Ruby turned on eachother, fought, and Ruby threatened to kill Carmel. Madison went berserk. Sam came in pretty much then.

"So..." Sam asked "Did Madison know it was us breaking in? Did you?" Ruby shook her head softly.

"Sammy-sorry-Sam. We were told you were a band of demons trying to take Carmel down. A competitive band. When you got here...it was awful." She laughed softly. "Everyone was prepared with salt and devils traps. And you are all human. They were all useless. As far as I'm aware, every single person fled the building. Demon, every demon fled the building. They don't count as people." Sam raised an eyebrow. "It's nothing Sam." Sam frowned. Ruby was lying. Something didn't make sense. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. She didn't like Carmel, he could tell, and she obviously hadn't known he was coming. Everything seemed to fit but - something was wrong. Ruby watched Sam, almost regretfully.

"I'm sorry Sam." She whispered. "Huh?" He asked, jerking himself away from his thoughts. She smiled sadly, looking away. "Nothing. Nothing at all." Ellen's mobile was ringing. It took a few moments for the shrill beeps to register with everyone, and then Ellen was lunging for the phone.

"Hello?...yes...Rufus! Is anything wrong- hmm...wait-what?" She jumped up. Everyone looked at her in confusion. Colour drained her face as she listened to Rufus. "No. The last time I saw them- it was in the upstairs room- you were all screaming?... Yes, that's why we- oh no. Are you sure?...fuck...ok. Thanks. I'll call..." She hung up, looked at the phone for a few seconds, and then raised her eyes to Sam. "The screaming, we left. It was a diversion." Sam swore. "Sam- they have Jo. And Dean." Bobby, Sam and Ruby all swore in sync.

Gwen stood smiling. Her eyes flickered black. "Now we have you." She growled. Everyone stilled. She giggled, standing up to lock the door. "I can contact Carmel, tell her of your plans, tell her you have Ruby, and that you've realised we have Dean Winch-" a knife, whistled through the air and embedded in her chest. She looked down in surprise, as her body flashed amber and red from within. She let out a scream, and fell the the floor- dead. Slowly, the heads of Bobby, Sam and Ellen turned to find Ruby standing, chest heaving angrily.

"I'm not going back to that bitch." She hissed. She then looked at the body on the floor, swayed and collapsed back into her chair. Ellen walked forwards.

"Ruby. What was that?" Ruby shifted in her chair, moodily turning her face away from the group.

"It's just- been a while since I killed someone." She said. Sam was silent for a moment, before letting out a low, humourless laugh.

"A traumatised demon that's just great." Bobby sighed.

The group of hunters sat dejectedly in the office, stuck and with no where to turn for help. Some time later, a phone notification went off. Sam lunged for his mobile, to find a text from a blocked number. He looked at the screen, and had to reread the message several times for it to sink in. Then the phone was dropped, and Sam -with incredible speed - sprinted out of the room, leaving the others to look startled in his wake. Ellen crouched to pick up the phone. The message read: "If you want them alive, come find them - Trevendale Avenue Car park. We will be there. So will they."

Guys I'm so sorry it took so long! My laptop has been in repair for nearly three months, and I only just got it back. So... Dean and Jo are missing again, Ruby and Madison are back, and - as I'm sure you've guessed - Sam is going to have to choose. Drawing fairly near to the finish now people! Lemme know what you think, any ideas of what should happen and how I can get better:) thanks SOO much.
