His horse snorted, impatient, Salazar ignored the beast however. He and the animal did not have a good relationship that the other riders clearly shared with their animals. It was more of a situation where they put up with each other through necessity. Salazar was not made to ride horses; he much preferred magical forms of transportation. However, for the purposes of keeping up appearances he had made his way out, so he could wait for Godrics return.
He was sat, learnt against the trunk of a large tree, eating an apple, when a small snake slithered across his foot, up alongside his leg before resting beside him. Salazar paused and looked at the creature.
"A man and woman… an hour's ride from here…" The small creature hissed at him. Curling around the hand that Salazar offered him.
"Have you got a message for me form any of the others about their journey?" Salazar asked, looking the snake in its cold black eyes.
"No… no natural snake goes near… old place… very old place." Salazar nodded at the response, almost unsurprised, Rowena had spoken of the place she believed they should go, it was all very mystic in Salazar's opinion, but voicing such a thought would prove essentially useless. Godric was determined for this school to go ahead, and Salazar had a sneaking suspicion that Rowena had more than just a slight interest. A school. It was a laughable idea; he did not see the issue in continuing as they had for as long as anyone could remember. Passing down family values was the right of a father.
He toyed with the snake, letting it slither between his fingers, it was a bright green, no thicker than his thumb, and about as long as a rats tail. Eventually the snake slipped from his grasp and slithered into the long grass, as the sounds in the distance of hooves reached his ears. Pushing himself to his feet, Salazar looked out across the tall grass to see Godric and Helga riding aside each other, chatting, Helga laughed, throwing her head back and Godric leaned forward, grasping her hand in his, bringing it to his lips.
"Ah Godric, I see a wife in your future." He waited until they were close before lifting an arm and waving to them, he turned and pulled himself onto his horse and trotted towards them. "Was your journey successful?"
"Very." Godric replies with a wide smile on his face, his blue eyes bright. "We must hurry back, my father and I need to speak immediately."
"My wife."
Dressed in robes of gold with black detailing around the neckline, Her golden curls pulled up, pinned with black rubies, she was a vision on her wedding day. Her heart shaped face shone with happiness, her rosy lips pulled into the widest smile. She was everything a young princess should be, as she stood beside her husband, dressed in his robes of red and gold, the smile firmly attached to his face.
"My husband." Helga replied, giggling afterwards, it was such a forward word, while many girls had dreamt of marrying a prince; she'd never considered it, until as a child seeing the young prince Godric for the first time. He was a handsome boy, and easily a handsomer man. "I have never known a woman to single handily put together such an affair so quickly, but your mother is something else."
"That she is," Godric replied with amusement, he had always known there was an expectation on him to Marry, as twenty three he was becoming an old man with no heir. Now however, he was married to the greatest beauty he had ever lay eyes on. They had informed the court of the manner in which the proposal had taken place, under the roof of the magical castle that would be made into a school. It was not a grand proposal, though it was good for them. Guinevere had recounted her own proposal form Arthur, which had included an angry horse and a lot of mud. "Though I fear she will be shortly expecting grandchildren."
"She'll have to wait, I'd like to enjoy some time with my husband first."
Nerves settled in as Godric carried his bride across the threshold. Carefully he placed her on her feet, and then it struck. He had no idea what to do. Salazar had mentioned something about laces, but as his only true friend and the discomfort abut talking about his future wife in this manner, Godric had put an end to that very quickly. For her part, Helga ignored his nerves, and appeared calm herself.
"Wine?" He tried to sound calm, collected, rather Godric thought he heard his voice break, a small giggle form Helga confirmed his fears. She'd heard it. He carefully poured ruby liquid into two silver goblets.
"Is my confident prince nervous?" Helga teased as she accepted the goblet from Godric, taking a sip as she watched him. "Why has it all been a facade to this point, my dear husband?"
He didn't want to answer, it hadn't been, but then he hadn't really considered himself to be married to her less than six months after her arrival. She knew well enough now that he had no experience with the female form, he would usually consider himself brave, but in this moment he was terrified of disappointing his beautiful wife.
She moved towards him, a small smile filtered across her face, stood before him she reached her hands to his face, carefully pulling his face closer to hers. She hesitated for a moment before placing her lips against his. The reaction was instant he pulled her against him, he'd never felt this before, but he certainly enjoyed it.
"I love you, my wife," he murmured, surprised at how intense the emotions felt. He held her close, feeling the beat of her heart against him, realising that their heart beats were in sync. "I had never dreamed to be as fortunate as I know I am now."
"Keep saying those words and I can only imagine how fortunate you will see yourself to be." She giggled, lifting her head to press her lips to his.
"We'll do amazing things together my wife," Godric murmured, smiling into his wife's kiss. "Some help from a few others, we will make something awe-inspiring."
"We'll do much more than that," Helga told him with a smile playing on her lips. She danced away from him, forcing him to come and chase her; he did so, catching her easily as she squealed in delight. "We'll make something magical."
